Oklahoma City 7, Sacramento 0

W- Nick Tropeano (8-0)
L- Angel Castro (9-7)

OKC home runs: Domingo Santana (15, 3-run in 5th)

Nick Tropeano was just brilliant and the RedHawks offense busted open this game with a 6-run 5th inning.

Ronald Torreyes hit a sac fly in the 4th to open the scoring. Preston Tucker and Domingo Santana delivered a couple of haymakers in the 5th in the form of a bases-clearing double from Tucker and a 3-run home run from Santana. Tucker went 2-4, while Domingo finished 3-4. Carlos Perez went 2-4 at the bottom of the lineup.

Nick Tropeano stifled the RiverCats as he allowed just 2 hits and struck out 8 over 6.2 shutout innings. Pat Urckfitz retired all 4 batters he faced, striking out 1, and Paul Clemens finished off the game by striking out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th.

The RedHawks will look for the sweep as Luis Cruz will take on Zach Neal at 9:05.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will begin a 4-game series in Midland tonight at 6:30. Josh Hader will take on Drew Granier.

Bakersfield 5, Lancaster 4

W- Layne Somsen (2-2)
L- Jamaine Cotton (1-4)

Lancaster home runs: Tyler White (4, 11 season; solo in 2nd)

The JetHawks held a 4-1 lead after 3 innings, but the Blaze scored 4 unanswered to close out the game, and the JetHawks were swept.

Chan-Jong Moon opened the scoring with an RBI double in the 1st. Tyler White's 11th home run came with 1 out in the 2nd. In the 3rd, Danry Vásquez hit a bunt ground ball, and the ensuing error allowed Brett Phillips to score. Danry advanced to 2nd on the play and scored on an RBI double from Rio Ruiz. Phillips (2 2 B, 2 R), Moon (2B, RBI), and Rio (2 2B, RBI) all finished 2-4.

Lance McCullers went 5.1 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 4 hits, walked 5, and struck out 2. Dan Minor allowed the tying run in the 6th, which was charged to McCullers. He went 2.2 innings and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 5. Jamaine Cotton only got 1 out in the 9th as the Blaze won it; he allowed a leadoff double to Sammy Diaz, who scored the winning run on a sac fly.

The JetHawks will begin a 3-game series with High Desert tonight at 8:30. Both sides have not announced starting pitchers yet.

Cedar Rapids 4, Quad Cities 2

W- Chih-Wei Hu (6-1)
L- Andrew Thurman (5-9)
S- Dallas Gallant (5)

QC home runs: None.

The River Bandits dropped the opener of this series as they teeter ever-so-closely to elimination.

James Ramsay was the Quad Cities offense as he went 2-4 with an RBI double in the 5th and an RBI single in the 7th. Brett Booth also finished 2-4.

Andrew Thurman went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and struck out 7. Keegan Yuhl pitched the final 2 innings, allowing a run on 2 hits and striking out 1.

In game 2 of this series, Blaine Sims will take on SPX alum Kohl Stewart at 6:35.

Tri-City was off

The New York-Penn League All-Star game is tonight at 6:30. The game is being held at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. OF D.J. Fisher, IF Nick Tanielu, C Jamie Ritchie, and The Closer, RHP Ryan Thompson, will represent the ValleyCats on the AL team.

Greeneville 12, Kingsport 3

W- Harold Arauz (1-0, 5-2 season)
L- Yoryi Nuez (5-3)

Greeneville home runs: Hector Roa (2, 5 season; solo in 2nd), Ydarqui Marte (4, solo in 6th)

The Appy Astros took full advantage of a horrible night from Kingsport pitchers, who issued 13 walks and uncorked 6 wild pitches.

Greeneville scored 5 in the 2nd, and Hector Roa's home run was the only hit in the inning. Cesar Carrasco scored on a wild pitch, and Ydarqui Marte on a passed ball. Kristian Trompiz drew a bases-loaded walk, and Sean McMullen hit a sac fly.

They scored 6 in the 3rd and had 3 singles. Carrasco scored as Brett Clements reached on a fielder's choice. Marte and Clements scored on wild pitches, then Edwin Medina walked. Trompiz hit an RBI groundout. McMullen and Roa walked to load the bases. Carrasco hit an RBI single, and McMullen scored on the 3rd Kingsport wild pitch of the evening. Marte led off the 6th with his 4th homer. Everyone drew a walk except for Carrasco.

Juan Carlos Santos pitched 2.1 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. In his Appalachian League debut, Harold Arauz went 3.2 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. Aaron Greenwood, who was celebrating his birthday, tagged in for 2 innings and allowed an unearned run, a double, and struck out 5. Juan Delis allowed an unearned run, walked 1, and struck out 2 in the 9th.

The series finale features Austin Nicely on the mound for the Appy Astros. He'll face Andrew Church at 6:00.

GCL Astros 7, GCL Phillies 2

W- Francis Martes (3-3)
L- Jason Zgardowski (0-1)
S- John Gatlin (1)

GCL home runs: None.

The Phillies scored 1 in the top of the 8th to make this a 3-2 game, but the Kissimmee Stros blew them away with 4 in the bottom of the inning.

Jean Estrella scored the GCLstros' first run of the day on a double play in the 1st. Frankeny Fernandez had an RBI single in the 3rd, and Jorge Martinez hit a sac fly in the 4th. In the 8th, Marlon Avea provided the insurance with a 2-run double, and more insurance came in the form of RBI doubles from Martinez and Joan Mauricio. Estrella, Martinez, and Fernandez all had 2-hit days.

Francis Martes allowed a run on 3 hits and fanned 3 in 5 innings. J.D. Osborne walked 2 in a scoreless 6th. Christian Perdomo went 1.2 innings and had an inherited runner charged to him in the 8th. He walked 2 and struck out 1. John Gatlin allowed a hit and walked 1 as he got a 4-out save.

The Kissimmee Stros are in Clearwater to take on the Phillies once more.

Game 1: DSL Astros Blue 3, DSL Athletics 0

W- Lachlan Madden (2-1)
L- Argenis Blanco (3-2)

Blue home runs: None.

The Blue team took the first game of this twinbill as they held the A's to 3 singles and a double.

Wander Franco singled in the 4th and on the ensuing error, Jonathan Matute scored. Franco would score on another error later in the inning. Marcos Almonte hit an RBI single in the 5th.

Albert Abreu allowed 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3 in 4.2 innings. Lachlan Madden allowed 2 hits and struck out 4 over the final 2.1 innings to get the victory.

Game 2: DSL Astros Blue 5, DSL Athletics 4 in 13 innings

W- Dariel Aquino (1-3)
L- Reynaldo Hoyos (1-3)
S- Josue Uribe (4)

Blue home runs: None.

This game was originally scheduled for August 6, but it was rained out.

The Blue team held a 4-2 lead, but the A's tied it with 2 in the 7th. That's how the game stood until the 13th, when Oscar Campos hit the go-ahead RBI single.

Jake Bowey hit a sac fly in the 1st to open the scoring. He added a 2-run double in the 3rd and ended up scoring on a Cristopher Luciano walk/wild pitch as an error was committed. Wander Franco went 4-6 with a run scored, while Bryan De La Cruz went 3-5. Campos finished 2-5.

Carlos Hiraldo got the start and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. Juan Cuevas allowed a hit and fanned 5 over 2 scoreless. Gabriel Valdez allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 over 2 innings. Joel Belboder pitched 3 innings and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits and walked 1. Dariel Aquino walked 2 and struck out 1 over his 3 innings, and Josue Uribe walked 2 in the 13th, but was able to close out the game.

The Blue team is currently playing their 3rd game in 2 days against the A's.

DSL Astros Orange 3, DSL Marlins 0

W- Edgardo Sandoval (3-0)
L- Jose Quijada (5-5)
S- Diogenes Almengo (1)

Orange home runs: None.

Sandoval and Almengo combined on a 4-hitter for the Orange team. They allowed 2 hits apiece.

Sandoval walked 1 and struck out 5 over 5 innings, and Almengo struck out 1 over the final 4 innings.

Anardo Peralta hit an RBI single in the 2nd to open the scoring. Orlando Marquez finished 2-4 with an RBI double in the 3rd and an RBI single in the 5th. Wilson Amador finished 2-4.

The Orange team is currently in a game at the Marlins complex.
