No future Astros, but two former Astros mark the day ~
OF Willie Crawford (died August 27, 2004 at 57)
Crawford came to Houston in a March 1977 trade from San Francisco after playing most of his career with the Dodgers. Crawford played in 42 games for the Astros, posting a .254/.341/.333 batting line before being traded to the Oakland A's for Denny Walling in June 1977.
2B David Newhan (41)
Drafted in the 17th round in 1995 by Oakland, Newhan signed as a free agent with Houston in February 2008. In 64 games for the Astros, he hit .260/.297/.404. Most recently, Newhan was the Manager for the A's Short Season A affiliate, the Vermont Lake Monsters, in 2014. His father is Hall of Fame baseball writer Ross Newhan.
