El Paso 6, Fresno 4 (Fresno 2-1)

Fresno home runs: None.

The Grizzlies missed their first opportunity to close out the series as the Chihuahuas scored 6 in the 5th inning to take control of this one.

Tyler White opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. Later in the inning, Matt Duffy hit an RBI groundout. Alex Presley hit an RBI single in the 2nd, as did Robbie Grossman in the 5th. Presley and Tony Kemp both went 2-5 with a run scored at the top of the order.

Mark Appel went 4.1 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned, 2 inherited runners charged to him) on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. Travis Ballew failed to record an out after coming on for Appel in the 5th; he allowed 2 hits and 2 runs (1 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him). Chris Cotton got the 2nd out of the 5th inning, but not before he allowed a hit and walked 1. Jake Buchanan allowed a hit over 1.1 innings, and Luis Cruz allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 3 over 2 scoreless.

In game 4 of this series, Brett Oberholtzer will face Casey Kelly. First pitch is at 7:05 Mountain.


Midland 9, Corpus Christi 5 (Midland 2-1)

The Hounds took the lead in this series as they scored in the first 6 innings.

Kyle Westwood allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2 in 2.2 innings. Reymin Guduan was the first man out; he allowed a run on 4 hits in 1 inning (final out of 3rd, 2 outs in 4th). Jacob Dorris, who returned to the city where he played college ball, allowed a run, walked 3, and the 2 outs he recorded came via strikeout (final out of 4th, 1st out of 5th). Gonzalo Sañudo went 2.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 2. Albert Minnis was the only Corpus pitcher to not allow a run as he tossed a 1-2-3 8th.

The Hooks got 3 in the 5th on a pair of RBI singles from Chan-Jong Moon and Danry Vásquez and an RBI double from Teoscar Hernandez. In the 8th, Conrad Gregor hit an RBI single, and Moon added a sac fly. Teoscar and Colin Moran had 2 hits apiece.

Francis Martes will be on the mound as Corpus must win tonight to force a deciding game 5. He'll take on Jake Sanchez at 7:00.

High Desert 12, Lancaster 5 (High Desert wins series 2-1)

L- Akeem Bostick

Lancaster home runs: None.

The JetHawks were really up against it when they fell behind 11-0 after 2 innings.

Alex Bregman put Lancaster on the board with an RBI double in the 3rd, and D.J. Fisher later added an RBI groundout. Jamie Ritchie added a sac fly in the 4th, and in the 9th, Mott Hyde ripped an RBI ground-rule double and came around to score on a James Ramsay RBI single. Ramsay finished 3-5, while Sean McMullen was 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

Akeem Bostick and Jordan Mills were both roughed up. Let's leave it at that. Keegan Yuhl pitched 3 innings and allowed a 3-run homer to Ronald Guzman in the 2nd. 2 runs ended up getting charged to Mills. Enrique Chavez allowed a run, a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 over 4 innings.
