Winding down the regular season....

Fresno home runs: Matt Duffy (19, solo in 5th)
With this win, the Grizzlies set a new franchise record for victories in a season. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 2 innings and the lead managed to hold up.
Robbie Grossman opened the scoring with a 2-run single in the 1st, and Andrew Aplin followed with a 2-run single of his own later in the frame. Tyler White smacked an RBI double in the 2nd inning. Matt Duffy smacked a solo shot in the 5th, and Aplin added an RBI triple to his ledger. White, Grossman, and Aplin had 2 hits apiece.
Asher Wojciechowski went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. Travis Ballew went 3 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2. Kevin Chapman allowed a hit and struck out 1 in a scoreless 8th, and Jordan Jankowski walked 1 and struck out 1 in the 9th.
Game 2 of this series will start at 7:05 Pacific; both teams have yet to announce starters. Tonight is Fresno State Night at Chukchansi Park.
Corpus Christi 4, Frisco 2

CC home runs: Jack Mayfield (7, 14 season; 2-run in 4th), Roberto Peña (1, solo in 7th)
The Hooks completed the sweep in the latest iteration of the AA version of the Lone Star Series by doubling up the Roughriders.
Colin Moran finished 3-5 and put Corpus on the board with an RBI single in the 3rd. Jack Mayfield put the Hooks in the lead by dinging a ball off the left-field foul pole for a 2-run homer in the 4th. Roberto Peña whacked his first home run of the year in the 7th, a solo shot. Jon Kemmer went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Chris Devenski went 4 innings and allowed a solo homer to Trever Adams in the 2nd, which was the only run he allowed. Devo allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 5. Brian Holmes made his first appearance since coming off the DL and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 over 2 scoreless innings. Albert Minnis allowed a run on 2 hits and walked 3 in the 7th, and Jandel Gustave got the 2-inning save as he walked 1 and struck out 3.
The Hooks will finish the regular season with 3 in San Antonio. In game 1, R.J. Alaniz will take on Eury De La Rosa at 7:05.
Lancaster 5, High Desert 4 in 12 innings
W- Ryan Thompson (1-0, 5-2 season)
L- Pat Kaminska (1-1)
Lancaster home runs: Alex Bregman (3, 4 season; solo in 7th), Brian Holberton (4, solo in 12th)
Lancaster took the opener of this series as Brian Holberton delivered the winning hit, a solo shot to begin the 12th.
James Ramsay put the JetHawks on the board back in the 3rd with an RBI double. In the 6th, they got a pair of RBI singles from Sean mcMullen and Mott Hyde, and Alex Bregman smacked a solo homer with 1 out in the 7th inning. The Mavericks scored 1 in the 9th to tie the game at 4, and that's how it stood until the bottom of the 12th inning. Pat Kaminska was the new High Desert pitcher, and Brian Holberton greeted him with a solo homer to end the game.
McMullen finished 3-5, while Bregman (solo homer), Hyde, Chase McDonald (2 2B), and Jamie Ritchie all finished with 2 hits.
David Paulino went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer), walked 1, and struck out 8. Kevin Comer was the first man out of the JetHawks bullpen and allowed a run on 3 hits and fanned 3 in 2.2 innings Ryan Thompson allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 2.1 innings.
In game 2 of this series, Austin Chrismon will take on Trey Lambert. First pitch is at 6:00 Pacific.
Kane County 6, Quad Cities 1

QC home runs: Wander Franco (1, 4 season; solo in 7th)
The Banditos couldn't get much of anything going on offense.
Wander Franco finished 2-3, and his solo homer in the 7th was their only run of the evening. Bobby Boyd went 2-4 with a double, a triple, and stole a base (36).
Brock Dykxhoorn allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 1. In his Midwest League debut, Andrew Thome went 4 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2.
In the River Bandits' final series of the regular season, they will head to Beloit. Dean Deetz will take on Junior Mendez at 7:00.
Staten Island 8, Tri-City 7
W- Luis Cedeño (5-3)
L- Kevin McCanna (3-3)
S- Travis Hissong (1)
TC home runs: None.
The ValleyCats mounted a comeback attempt, but no cigar.
Hector Roa put Tri-City on the board with a sac fly that turned into a double play in the 3rd inning. In the 5th, Keach Ballard hit a sac bunt, and on the ensuing error, Anthony Hermelyn scored. Later in the frame, Aaron Mizell smacked a 2-run double. Mizell added an RBI groundout in the 9th inning, and Bobby Wernes hit a 2-run single to bring the ValleyCats to within 1. Unfortunately, the comeback ended there.
Zac Person allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 3 in 3.2 innings. David Schmidt got the final out of the 4th via strikeout. Kevin McCanna only got 1 out in the 5th as he allowed 3 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 5 hits. Ralph Garza Jr. went 3 innings (2 outs in the 5th, the entire 6th and 7th, 1 in the 8th) and allowed 3 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 3 hits, walked 1, and fanned 3. Juan Carlos Santos allowed a hit and got the final 2 outs in the 8th.
Trent Thornton will take the mound tonight as the ValleyCats begin their final series of the regular season against Connecticut. He'll face Sandy Baez at 7:00 Eastern.
Greeneville 6, Kingsport 2 (series tied 1-1)

Greeneville home runs: Randy Cesar (2-run in 2nd), Kyle Tucker (solo in 6th)
The Appy Astros forced a deciding game 3 with some solid offense.
Kyle Tucker and Randy Cesar both homered and drove in 2 runs. Cesar went 2-4 and opened the scoring with a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning. Tucker, who finished 3-4, hit an RBI single in the 3rd. Connor Goedert and Kevin Martir both finished 2-4 and hit RBI singles in the 8th inning.
Diogenes Almengo went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Edgardo Sandoval allowed 2 hits and fanned 2 over the final 4 innings.
