Fresno 12, Las Vegas 4
W- Brady Rodgers (2-0)
L- Donovan Hand (0-2)
Fresno home runs: A.J. Reed (2, solo in 1st), Reid Brignac (2, 3-run in 7th)
After getting smashed in the opener, the Grizzlies have responded by taking the next two games of the series. On Wednesday, they stormed out to a 7-0 lead after the 2nd inning; everyone in the Grizzlies lineup finished the game with a hit and a run scored.
Tyler White and Reid Brignac both singled to lead off the 2nd and they both scored on Max Stassi's double. Andrew Aplin drew a walk to join Stassi on the bases, and Kemp moved them over with a sac bunt. Fisher went down on strikes for the second out, but Teoscar Hernandez kept the line moving with an RBI single. An error on the play allowed Aplin to score also allowed Teoscar to advance to 3rd. Reed walked, and Preston Tucker hit an RBI single to bring in Teoscar, who smacked a 2-run triple in the 6th. Reid Brignac drove in Fresno's last three runs of the evening with a 3-run homer in the 7th.
Brady Rodgers went 6 innings and allowed a run on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. In his AAA debut, Kevin Comer struck out 2 over 2 perfect innings. Reymin Guduan pitched the 9th and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1.
Edison Frias will start the series finale. He'll face Sean Gilmartin at 7:05 Pacific.
Arkansas 9, Corpus Christi 0
W- Max Povse (2-0)
L- Trent Thornton (1-1)
CC home runs: None.
The Hooks have faced Max Povse twice in the early going and they've failed to score a run in 12.2 innings against him.
Corpus was held to just 4 hits in their home opener. Jack Mayfield's double was their only extra-base hit of the evening.
Trent Thornton allowed 6 runs (4 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 10 hits and struck out 2 in 3+ innings. Sean Stutzman was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and he inherited two runners from Thornton. One of them scored on a single, which was the only hit that Stutzman allowed in his 2 innings of work. He also struck out 5 in those two innings. Kyle Smith pitched the final 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and walked 1.
Kent Emanuel will get the start in game 2 of this series. He'll face Tyler Herb at 7:05.

L- Justin Ferrell (1-1)
S- Drew Hasler (1)
BC home runs: None.
Well... the first road game in franchise history didn't go well.
Ryne Birk went 2-4, and his RBI single was the Astros' only scoring play. On that same play, the game ended; Myles Straw was thrown out at 3rd base for the final out. Jason Martin, who also finished 2-4, scored Buies' only run.
Justin Ferrell went 4.2 innings and allowed 7 runs (6 earned) on 9 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 4. Alex Winkelman allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 in 3.1 scoreless innings.
Matt Bower will get the start in game 2 of this series. He'll face Max Beatty at 7:00 Eastern.
Kane County 5, Quad Cities 1
W- Sam McWilliams (2-0)
L- Dustin Hunt (0-2)
S- Tommy Eveld (2)
QC home runs: None.
The Banditos were stymied by Cougars starter Sam McWilliams, who held them to just one hit over 5 innings.
Things didn't get much better after Kane County turned to their bullpen, but Quad Cities gave itself a lifeline by loading the bases with nobody out in the 8th. Unfortunately, they could only muster up one run on Daz Cameron's sac fly.
Dustin Hunt pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 runs on 5 hits (solo and 2-run homers), walked 1, and struck out 5. Carson LaRue came on and pitched the final 5 innings. The one run he allowed came on a solo homer from Kyle Smith in the 9th. LaRue allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 6.
Brett Adcock will face Cody Reed in game 2 of this series. First pitch is at 6:35.
