W- Keegan Yuhl (1-1)
L- Ricky Knapp (0-1)
S- James Hoyt (1)

Fresno home runs: Preston Tucker (1, 2-run in 2nd), Reid Brignac (1, solo in 8th)

Fresno got the jump on Vegas with 5 runs in the 2nd, and one night after allowing 21 runs and having more position players than pitchers take the mound, they kept the 51s' offense in check.

A.J. Reed singled to lead off the 2nd inning. Two batters later, Preston Tucker smacked his first home run of the season to put the Grizzlies on the board first. Reid Brignac kept the line moving by drawing a walk. He advanced to 3rd on a Jon Kemmer single and came home on a double from Juan Centeno. Kemmer, who moved to 3rd on Centeno's RBI double, scored on a Tony Kemp groundout, and Centeno scored on a single from Colin Moran. Moran hit another RBI single in the 6th inning; Centeno was thrown out at home trying to score another run. Brignac hit a solo homer in the 8th for the final run of the evening.

Keegan Yuhl pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 4, and struck out 5. Aaron West got two outs in the 7th, but he also allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. Ashur Tolliver recorded the final out of the 7th without incident. Dayan Diaz struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 8th, and James Hoyt recorded his first save of the season by working around a hit to throw a scoreless 9th. He struck out 1 in the inning.

Brady Rodgers will face Donovan Hand in game 3 of this series. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

Buies scored 3 in the 5th, all with 2 outs. Jason Martin kept the inning alive with a single and Myles Straw walked to bring up Kyle Tucker, who ripped a 2-run double. Porter finished 2-4 and Martin went 3-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base (3).

Buies Creek's first roadtrip will be 14 games and two weeks long. Their first stop is Winston-Salem, who they swept to open the year. Justin Ferrell will face Brannon Easterling at 7:00 Eastern.

The Banditos scored 2 in the top of the 8th to take the lead.... only to see the Chiefs score one in the bottom of the 8th to tie and one more in the first extra frame to walk off with the win and the series.

Carmen Benedetti walked to lead off the 8th, advanced to 2nd on a Stephen Wrenn sac bunt, moved to 3rd on an Alex De Goti single, and scored the tying run on an RBI single from Anibal Sierra. De Goti, who advanced to 3rd on the play, scored the go-ahead run on a sac fly from Taylor Jones. De Goti and Sierra both finished 2-5.
