All three of Corpus Christi's runs came in the 3rd inning as Mott Hyde hit an RBI single to put them on the board. Hyde and J.D. Cionel Perez got a rather rude welcome to American professional baseball. The LumberKings only scored in two innings, but they scored 9 in the 3rd, which ended Cionel's night rather early.
Cionel allowed 7 runs (6 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 2.2 innings. Salvador Montaño was also making his season debut; he was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits (2-run homer; one run was charged to Perez), walked 3, and struck out 3 in 1.1 innings. Brett Adcock pitched the last 4 innings and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4.
Taylor Jones put Quad Cities on the board with a 2-run double in the 5th. The Banditos got 3 in the 7th as Randy César scored on a passed ball following a Daz Cameron strikeout. Daz reached safely and came around to score on a 2-run double from Carmen Benedetti. César finished 2-4 and was the only player in the Quad Cities lineup with a multi-hit game.
