Let's play two in Buies Creek!

Fresno 6, El Paso 1

W- Mike Hauschild (4-1)
L- Tyrell Jenkins (4-8)
S- Kevin Comer (2)

Fresno home runs: A.J. Reed (12, solo in 4th)

After allowing 14 runs to Albuquerque on Friday, the Grizzlies pitching staff tightened up and held El Paso to just one run on Saturday.

Mike Hauschild went 6 innings and allowed the Chihuahuas' only run, a solo homer hit by Rafael Ortega in the 6th. He allowed one other hit, walked 2, and struck out 8. The bullpen finished it off with 3 scoreless: Tyson Perez allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 1.1 innings. Ashur Tolliver came on for the 8th but walked the only man he faced. Kevin Comer got the final two outs of the 8th and pitched a scoreless 9th to get the save, allowing a hit and fanning 3.

Teoscar Hernandez put Fresno on the board first with a 2-run double in the 1st. Tyler White, who scored one of the two runs after hitting a 1-out double, ripped an RBI ground-rule double in the 2nd inning. A.J. Reed led off the bottom of the 4th with a solo blast and Reid Brignac capped off the evening with a 2-run double in the 8th.

White (2 2B, RBI, R), Teoscar (2B, 2 RBI), Brignac (2B, RBI), and Jon Kemmer all finished 2-4 on the night. White extended his hitting streak to 11 games and all of them have been multi-hit games.

Casey Coleman faces Andre Rienzo in game 2 of this series. First pitch is at 5:05 Pacific.

Midland 12, Corpus Christi 8

W- Sam Bragg (4-1)
L- Alex Winkelman (0-2, 2-2 season)
S- Kyle Finnegan (8)

CC home runs: Jon Singleton (11, 2-run in 1st)

The RockHounds stormed out to an 8-2 lead to foil the Hooks' bid to sweep the series.

Jon Singleton opened the scoring with a 2-run homer in the 1st inning. After the Hounds got 6 in the 2nd, Corpus hit back for 4 in the 3rd: Singleton added a sac fly to his ledger, then Garrett Stubbs followed with an RBI single. J.D. Davis scored on a Jack Mayfield groundout and Jason Martin ripped an RBI double. Drew Ferguson hit an RBI single in the 8th and Mayfield singled in a run in the 9th. The Hooks could've inflicted more damage but left two men in scoring position to end the game. Ferguson (2B, RBI, 2 R, 2 SB) and Martin (2B, RBI, R) both finished with 3 hits, while Davis went 2-4.

Alex Winkelman only lasted 1.2 innings and allowed 7 runs (2 earned, 2 inherited runners charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. He struck out the first two batters he faced in the 2nd, but that last out proved to be elusive. An error didn't exactly help matters either. Riley Ferrell was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and went 2.1 innings, allowing a run on 3 hits (3-run homer; 2 runners were charged to Winkelman) and striking out 4. Andrew Walter and Sean Stutzman both pitched 2 innings and they both allowed a couple of runs. Walter allowed 3 hits and struck out 2, while Stutzman allowed 4 hits and walked 1.

The Hooks are back home for Father's Day as they start a 4-game set with San Antonio at 6;05. Brock Dykxhoorn takes on Christian Friedrich.

Game 2: Winston-Salem 2, Buies Creek 1

That homer was the only blemish on an otherwise excellent outing for Perez, who threw his first career complete game (albeit in a 7-inning game). He allowed one other hit and struck out 5.

Spencer Johnson tripled to lead off the 5th and scored on Ryne Birk's RBI single. Stephen Wrenn finished 2-2.

Brett Adcock gets the start as Buies Creek looks to avoid a sweep. He'll go up against Luis Martinez at 2:00 Eastern.

Beloit 4, Quad Cities 3 in 10 innings

W- Sam Sheehan (2-0)

Lucas Williams was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and went 2.1 innings, allowing a run on 2 hits, walking 2, and striking out 4. Salvador Montaño got an inning-ending double play in the 9th, but the Snappers got him in the first extra frame. He allowed the walk-off RBI single and walked 3 in 1.1 innings.

Wander Franco ripped an RBI double in the 5th to put Quad Cities on the board. Taylor Jones smacked a 2-run double with the bases loaded in the 8th inning. Franco and Chuckie Robinson both finished 2-4.
