RR home runs: Kyle Tucker (5, 3-run in 1st), Yordan Alvarez (11, 2-run in 7th)

Corpus Christi 10, Tulsa 9

W- Gabriel Valdez (1-1)
L- Luis Vasquez (0-1)
S- Ronel Blanco (2)

CC home runs: Lorenzo Quintana 2 (3; solo in 2nd, solo in 4th), Granden Goetzman 2 (6; solo in 2nd, grand slam in 8th)

The Hooks managed to hold on to win this topsy-turvy affair. Hitting four home runs certainly helped the cause!

Granden Goetzman and Lorenzo Quintana both smacked solo homers in the 2nd inning. Abraham Toro legged out an RBI infield single in the 3rd and with the bases loaded, Chas McCormick hit a two-run single. Quintana launched another solo homer in the 4th. This was Corpus Christi's last scoring play until the 8th, when Goetzman whacked a grand slam that put the Hooks up 10-7. Goetzman, Toro, and Quintana all finished with two hits on the evening. The Hooks finished 5-5 in stolen base attempts; Rojas (7), Stephen Wrenn (5), McCormick (2), Chuckie Robinson (2), and Toro (2) all got in on the act.

Entering this season, Granden Goetzman's career high in home runs was eight, which he set in 2014 between both of Tampa Bay's Class A affiliates. After sending two out on Saturday, he now has six home runs in 19 games.

Carson LaRue went 4.1 innings and allowed four runs on five hits (solo and three-run homers), walked one, and struck out four. Gabriel Valdez was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and he allowed three runs on two hits (two-run homer), walked three, and struck out six in 3.2 innings. Ronel Blanco got rocked a bit in the 9th as he allowed two runs on three hits and walked one, but he kept it together to secure the win.

It's Sunday, so the Hooks will do business as the Raspas as part of MiLB's Copa de la Diversión initiative. Brett Adcock will face Dustin May at 2:15.

Down East 3, Fayetteville 2

W- Joe Barlow (2-0)
L- José Bravo (2-1)

Fayetteville home runs: None.

The Woodpeckers dropped a one-run game for the second straight night and as a result, round one of the Lone Star Series in North Carolina goes to the Wood Ducks.

Parker Mushinski went five innings and the two runs he allowed came on a homer in the 2nd inning; both of the runs were unearned. Overall, he allowed six hits and struck out eight. José Bravo allowed one hit and struck out three in his 3.1 innings, but unfortunately, the one hit was a walk-off solo homer with one out in the 9th.

J.P. France will get the start as Fayetteville looks to avoid the sweep. First pitch is at 2:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities and Clinton was canceled

Due to rain. As this is the last time that the River Bandits and LumberKings will face each other in the first half of the Midwest League season, this game will not be made up.

Weather permitting, there will be a doubleheader today with game one starting at 1:15. Game two will begin 90 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
