A fifth round pick by the Astros in 1973, Mendoza got his cup of coffee in 1979 and it was a perfect brew - one perfect inning pitched in one game.

A non-drafted free agent from the Dominican Republic, Mesa played his third season with the DSL Astros in 2013. In 18 appearances, he had a 4.60 ERA and a 1.596 WHIP in 31 and a third innings.

A non-drafted free agent from the Dominican Republic, Victor pitched in 11 games (25.2 IP) for the DSL Astros in 2011, going 2-0 with a 3.16 ERA and a 1.480 WHIP. After the All-Star break, his ERA was 1.98 and he had a WHIP of 1.171. All of this was done at the ripe old age of 17.

Unfortunately, he was never able to recapture that effectiveness on the major league level for Houston and was selected off waivers by the Padres in September. He is currently a free agent.
