Round Rock 8, Oklahoma City 2

W- Edwar Cabrera (1-1)
L- Alex White (1-4)

OKC home runs: None.

The RedHawks were burned by 8 unanswered after they opened up the scoring.

Domingo Santana went 2-4 and his 2-run double in the 1st constituted OKC's only runs. Joe Sclafani went 3-4 with a steal (2, 4 season) and a run scored. He's on a nice little 5-game hitting streak.

Alex White went 1.2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, one of which was a solo homer to Carlos Peña. Richard Rodriguez allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Jorge De Leon was next; he allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2.2 innings. And finally, Pat Urckfitz allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 1 in 1.1 innings.

Rudy Owens will take on Luke Jackson in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:05.

Midland 6, Corpus Christi 1

W- Nate Long (10-6)
L- Mike Hauschild (2-7, 4-8 season)

The Hooks were doomed by a 5-run 5th from Midland that broke a 1-1 tie.

Andrew Aplin's RBI double in the 4th was the lone Corpus run. Leo Heras had the other 2 Hooks hits.

Mike Hauschild pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 5 runs (3 inherited runners charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. Jordan Jankowski pitched the final 3.2 innings; he allowed a grand slam to Kent Matthes in that 5th inning, which resulted in 3 runs getting charged to Hauschild. Jankowski allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 3.

In game 2 of this series, Kyle Smith will face Drew Granier. First pitch is at 7:00.

Lancaster 13, Lake Elsinore 9

W- Dan Minor (8-3)
L- Brandon Alger (3-3)

Lancaster home runs: Ronnie Mitchell 2 (2, 15 season; 2-run in 2nd, 2-run in 3rd), Roberto Peña (10, 2-run in 8th), Jon Kemmer (5, 9 season; solo in 8th)

Well, this was a game in which all but 2 players had at least 1 hit, and 11 of them had multi-hit games. Both teams combined for 31 hits, 7 of which were home runs. In all, the JetHawks and the Storm combined for 20 extra-base hits.

The JetHawks were behind the 8-ball for most of the game as the Storm seemed to have an answer for all of their rallies. However, they finally seized control with a 6-run 8th inning to erase a 9-7 deficit. They also trailed 5-0 after the 1st inning.

Ronnie Mitchell had an unforgettable night; in his first plate appearance in the California League, he ripped a 2-run homer off of Colin Rea in the 2nd. After the Storm got 1 in the top of the 3rd to take a 6-2 lead, Lancaster tied the game with 4 in the bottom half, thanks to a Rio Ruiz RBI double, a Jon Kemmer RBI single, and Mitchell's 2nd 2-run homer of the evening. Mitchell added an RBI double to his ledger in the 5th. He reached safely in all 5 of his plate appearances with those 3 hits. He also drew 2 walks and scored 3 runs.

Mitchell's 2nd walk of the evening kick-started the JetHawks rally. He advanced to 3rd on a Jack Mayfield double, and Chan-Jong Moon drove them both in with a 2-run single. Rio followed that up with his 2nd RBI double of the evening to bring Moon home, which put the JetHawks up 10-9. Roberto Peña then provided some insurance in the form of his 10th home run of the year, and Jon Kemmer capped off the night by going back-to-back. Kemmer and Teoscar Hernandez (2 2B) joined Ronnie Mitchell in the 3-hit club last night. Everyone in the lineup scored a run except for Tanner Mathis. Everyone had a double except for Moon and Peña. Defensively, Peña was 2-2 on catching potential base stealers, including the Minors' leader in that category, Mallex Smith.

Lance McCullers got shelled in his 5 innings, as he allowed 8 runs on 12 hits (2 solos and a 2-run homer), walked 3, and struck out 2. The bullpen picked him up, allowing 1 run the rest of the way. Zach Morton allowed that run on 2 hits and struck out 1 in 2 innings. Dan Minor worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 8th, and Jamaine Cotton threw a 1-2-3 9th.

In game 2 of this series, Matt Heidenreich gets the start. First pitch is at 8:30.

Clinton 13, Quad Cities 9

W- Blake Holovach (6-4)
L- Michael Feliz (6-4)
S- Emilio Pagan (12)

QC home runs: None.

The difference in this game was a 9-3 run in the LumberKings' favor from the 3rd-6th innings.

After Clinton opened with 2 in the 1st, the Banditos got 4 in the 2nd, which put them on the board and in the lead. Marc Wik hit a 2-run triple, and that was followed up by an RBI single from Thomas Lindauer and an RBI double from Brett Phillips, who extended his hitting streak to 7 games.

They got 3 more in the 5th on a Chase McDonald RBI groundout, a Brian Holberton RBI single, and an RBI triple from Wik. His 3rd triple of the game drove in A.J. Reed in the 7th, and James Ramsay hit a sac fly in the 8th. Wik's 3 triples tied a Midwest League record; he's the 5th player in league history to hit 3 triples in one game. Ramsay (2B, 3B), Holberton (2 R), and Lindauer (2 R, SB [4]) had 2 hits apiece.

Michael Feliz went 4.1 innings and allowed 8 runs on 10 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. Albert Minnis was the first man out; he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and struck out 3. Frederick Tiburcio came on for the final 3 innings and allowed a 2-run homer to Marcus Littlewood in the 9th. He allowed 3 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 3.

The River Bandits will begin a series in Kane County starting tonight at 6:30. Blaine Sims will take on Tyler Ihrig.

Mahoning Valley 7, Tri-City 6 in 11 innings

W- Ramon Rodriguez (1-0)
L- Jordan Mills (0-1)

TC home runs: Mott Hyde (1, solo in 10th)

Whoa. The ValleyCats have dropped 2 straight series. They tied the game at 5 with a pair of runs in the 8th, only to see the Scrappers pull ahead with 1 in the first extra frame. Mott Hyde re-tied the game with his first pro homer, only to see Mahoning Valley take the lead once more on a passed ball in the 11th.

Ricky Gingras went 2-3 and opened up the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. Hyde followed that up with an RBI double. D.J. Fisher had an RBI single in the 5th. Fisher was involved on a rather bizarre play that ended up being a 2-run ground-rule triple for the Scrappers that tied the game at 3 in the 6th. I dunno man. Juan Santana smacked an RBI double and Jake Rodriguez hit an RBI groundout in the 8th. Alex Hernandez, Fisher, Gingras, Hyde, and Ariel Ovando all had 2 hits.

Joe Musgrove went 5.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Bryan Radziewski allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 1.1 innings. Raul Rivera walked 1 and fanned 2 over 2 scoreless, and Jordan Mills went 2 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2.

The ValleyCats will look to avoid the sweep as Jay Gause will take on Cameron Hill at 6:00.

Johnson City 4, Greeneville 1

W- Matt Pearce (2-3)
L- Josh James (1-2)
S- Jonathan Escudero (1)

Greeneville home runs: None.

The Appy Astros dropped the opener as the difference was a 3-run 5th for the Cardinals.

Jeffry Santos went 2-3 and got one of those runs back with an RBI single in the bottom of the 5th. Kristian Trompiz also finished 2-3.

Josh James went 4 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. Aaron Greenwood bore the brunt of the Johnson City assault in the 5th, as he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, including a solo homer, and walked 1. Angel Heredia tagged in to throw 4 scoreless, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.

In the middle game of this series, Austin Nicely will face Dailyn Martinez. First pitch is at 6:00.

GCL Astros 6, GCL Pirates 4

W- Elieser Hernandez (4-1)
L- Remy De Aza (1-1)

GCL home runs: Richard Gonzalez (1, 2-run in 4th)

The Kissimmee Stros busted out for a 4-run 4th which gave them a 5-2 lead at that point.

They got on the board in the 1st with a Brauly Mejia groundout. After Mejia walked in the 4th, Gonzalez connected for his first pro homer. Arturo Michelena added a 2-run single later in the inning. Dex McCall finished off the scoring with an RBI double in the 8th. He went 2-3, with both of his hits being doubles.

Ross Seaton has resurfaced. He went 2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 2. Travis Ballew worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 3rd. Elieser Hernandez came on for the final 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out a career-high 9.

The Astros are currently in Clearwater, where they'll be taking on the Phillies.

DSL Indians 3, DSL Astros Blue 2

W- Luis Jimenez (3-1)
L- Luis Ramirez (0-2)
S- Jose Nina (5)

Blue home runs: None.

The difference here was a 2-1 6th in the Indians' favor.

The Blue team got 2 sac flies; one from Rodrigo Ayarza in the 6th and one from Jonathan Matute in the 9th. Marcos Almonte went 2-4, and Andy Piñeda was 3-4 with a run scored.

Carlos Hiraldo allowed 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2 over 5 shutout innings. Luis Ramirez pitched the final 4 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 1.

The Blue team is currently in a game against the Royals.

DSL Astros Orange 7, DSL Rangers2 6

W- Edgardo Sandoval (2-0)
L- Daniel Mavo (5-4)
S- Jose Ramos (4)

Orange home runs: None.

The Orange team had just enough separation from the Rangers.

Juan Fuentes opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 3rd, and an error allowed Wilson Amador to score. They got 3 in the 5th on an RBI single from Orlando Marquez, a bases-loaded walk from Anardo Peralta, and then Felix Lucas got plunked to bring in another run. Marquez added another RBI single in the 6th, and Peralta reached on an error in the 8th that scored Ihan Bernal. Wilson Amador went 2-6 with 2 runs scored and a steal (27).

Edgardo Sandoval went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 7. Diogenes Almengo allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2 in 2 innings, and Jose Ramos got the 2-inning save, walking 2 and striking out 1.

The Orange team is currently in a game at the Blue Jays complex.
