Alex Bregman continues his reign of terror in the Texas League.

Las Vegas 3, Fresno 0

W- Sean Gilmartin (1-0)
L- Brady Rodgers (0-1)
S- Chasen Bradford (1)

Fresno home runs: None.

The Grizzlies' bats went silent for the first time this season.

Colin Moran finished 2-4.

Brady Rodgers had a solid outing, but with the offense MIA, he could only take the loss. Rodgers allowed a run on 7 hits and struck out 4 in 6 innings of work. Kevin Chapman allowed 2 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 2 hits and struck out 2 in 1.1 innings, and Jandel Gustave struck out 1 in 1.2 innings.

Mike Hauschild will get the start in the final game of the series. He'll face Stolmy Pimentel at 12:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi 3, Springfield 2

W- Yeyfry Del Rosario (1-0)
L- Josh Lucas (0-1)
S- Aaron West (1)

CC home runs: Alex Bregman (5, 2-run in 7th)

How about that Alex Bregman. His 2-run blast proved to be the difference as Corpus came out on top in game 1 of this series.

The only hit that Brian Holmes surrendered in 5.2 innings of work was a 2-run homer from Harrison Bader in the 3rd. Other than that, he was fantastic, walking 1 and striking out 5 in that timeframe. Yeyfry Del Rosario struck out 2 over 1.1 perfect innings to get the W in his season debut. Aaron West got into a bit of a predicament in the 9th when Springfield had runners on the corners with 1 out against him, but he buckled down and got the final 2 outs without incident. West, who got the 2-inning save, allowed 3 hits and fanned 3.

The other Corpus run came on a J.D. Davis sac fly in the 6th. Mr. Bregman finished 3-4 and also stole a base (1), while Teoscar Hernandez went 2-5 out of the leadoff spot.

Cy Sneed gets the start in game 2 of this series; he'll take on Mike Mayers at 6:30.

High Desert 7, Lancaster 2

W- Cole Wiper (2-0)
L- Josh James (1-1)
S- Austin Pettibone (1)

Lancaster home runs: Bryan Muñiz (1, solo in 7th)

The JetHawks had to settle for the split as they couldn't keep the Mavericks' bats in check.

Nick Tanielu drove in Lancaster's first run with an RBI double in the 6th, and Bryan Muñiz smacked a solo homer in the 7th. Bobby Boyd and Jason Martin both finished with 2 hits and a stolen base. Boyd now has 5 thefts on the year, while Martin has 3.

Josh James allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3 in 3.1 innings. Ryan Thompson was the first man out, and he struck out 4 over 1.2 perfect innings. Trent Thornton pitched the final 4 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits (solo and 2-run homers) and striking out 7.

The JetHawks will now welcome Rancho Cucamonga to The Hangar for a 3-game series starting at 6:35 Pacific. Brock Dykxhoorn will take on Andrew Sopko.

Kane County 5, Quad Cities 2

W- Junior Garcia (1-1)
L- Kevin McCanna (0-1)
S- Keegan Long (3)

QC home runs: Brooks Marlow (1, solo in 5th)

The Banditos suffered the sweep as they just couldn't get much of anything going on offense. They've been held to less than 5 runs in all but 1 of their games so far. The good news is that it's still early, so they can still get themselves going.

Their 2 runs in this game both came in the 5th, as Brooks Marlow led off the frame with a solo shot, and Osvaldo Duarte later added an RBI double. Dex McCall went 2-3 and scored on Duarte's double.

Kevin McCanna went 3.2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 10 hits (8 singles and a double), walked 2, and struck out 3. Andrew Thome was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and went 4 innings, allowing a run on an infield single in the 5th. He walked 1 and struck out 3. Jacob Dorris got the final 4 outs and allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 1.

The River Bandits will now embark on a roadtrip. Hopefully that'll give them some time to clear their heads and get some wins. Their first stop: Appleton, Wisconsin, where they'll play 3 against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. In game 1, Alex Winkelman will face Marcos Diplan. First pitch is at 6:35.
