Another Quad Cities sweep!


Sacramento 6, Fresno 5

Fresno home runs: None.

The Grizzlies mounted a 9th-inning rally that fell one run short.

Trent Thornton had a bare minimum quality start, allowing seven hits, walking one, and striking out eight. Buddy Boshers went two innings and all three runs he allowed came off a two-run and a solo homer. He allowed one other hit and struck out three. Chris Nunn issued a walk and struck out the side in the 9th.

J.D. Davis ripped a ground-rule double with two outs in the 6th and scored Fresno's first run of the day on an A.J. Reed single. The Grizzlies hit five consecutive singles to start the 9th; the last two from Tony Nuñez and Drew Ferguson resulted in runs. Davis hit a two-run single to cut the deficit to one run, but he and Ferguson were left on base to end the game. Davis finished 3-5 on the afternoon, while Reed, Mayfield, and Alejandro Garcia all finished with two hits.

Cy Sneed will start the series finale. He'll go up against Dereck Rodriguez at 6:35 Pacific.

San Antonio 4, Corpus Christi 1

CC home runs: None.

San Antonio held Corpus Christi's bats in check on Sunday.

Ryan Hartman and Brock Dykxhoorn both allowed two runs during their time on the mound. Hartman went five innings and allowed seven hits while striking out four. Dykxhoorn pitched the last three innings and allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

Josh Rojas' sac fly in the 7th represented the Hooks' lone scoring play in this game. Ryne Birk and Randy César both had two hits on the day.

Akeem Bostick takes on Cal Quantrill in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Winston-Salem 5, Buies Creek 3

BC home runs: None.

The Carolina Stros succumbed to a four-run 5th inning from the Dash.

Chuckie Robinson opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 2nd inning. Ronnie Dawson drove in the other two Buies Creek runs with RBI singles in the 5th and the 9th. Dawson finished 2-5 with two stolen bases (11). Troy Sieber and Osvaldo Duarte (2B, R) both finished 2-4.

Hector Perez allowed four runs on four hits, walked four, and struck out three in 4.2 innings. Gabriel Valdez tagged in for the final 3.1 innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out three.

Buies Creek will head back home to start a three-game series with Carolina at Campbell University. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 2, Lansing 0

QC home runs: None.

The Banditos swept their tour of Michigan.

Patrick Sandoval and Enoli Paredes held the Lugnuts to just four hits on the afternoon. Sandoval allowed three hits and struck out seven in six innings, while Paredes allowed the other hit, walked one, and struck out one over the final three innings to complete the shutout.

Both Quad Cities runs came in the 5th inning. Jake Meyers led off the inning with a double and scored the first run of the day on a Corey Julks pop-fly single. Julks then proceeded to steal second and scored the other run on a J.J. Matijevic double. Meyers and Matijevic both finished 2-4 and both of their hits were doubles. Matijevic also has four consecutive multi-hit games.

The Banditos are back home and they'll start a three-game series with Fort Wayne at 6:35. César Rosado will take on Round Rock's Mason Thompson.
