Game 1: Fresno 6, Las Vegas 3

Fresno home runs: Tony Kemp (2, solo in 3rd)

Brady Rodgers allowed 3 runs in the 1st inning, but he shook that off and threw his second complete game of the season. Rodgers allowed 9 hits, struck out 5, and it took him 100 pitches to finish the 7 innings.

An error in the 1st inning allowed Jon Kemmer to reach and also allowed Tony Kemp to score the first run of game 1. Kemp hit a solo homer in the 3rd inning, and Max Stassi later added an RBI single. In the 4th, Nolan Fontana hit an RBI groundout, and Kemp struck once again with an RBI single. Colin Moran drove in the final run of game 1 with an RBI single.

Kemp (solo HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Danny Worth (2 2B, R) both finished 3-4 at the top of the order, while Teoscar Hernandez and Max Stassi both went 2-3.

What did game 2 have in store for the Grizzlies?

Game 2: Las Vegas 9, Fresno 4

Fresno home runs: None.

A 3-run home run and a grand slam sunk Fresno in game 2 of the twinbill.

Brian Holmes allowed a 3-run home run to Eric Campbell in the 1st inning. He allowed 3 other hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. The one hit that Brendan McCurry surrendered in his 2 innings of work was a grand slam to Travis Taijeron. McCurry walked 2, hit a batter, and struck out 1. Kevin Chapman also pitched 2 innings; he allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 4. Aaron West allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 1 in the 6th.

César Valdez will start game 4 of this series. He'll face Robert Gsellman at 7:05 Pacific.

Midland 7, Corpus Christi 1

It was all Midland in the first game of this series.

Garrett Stubbs' RBI double in the 3rd was Corpus Christi's only scoring play. Conrad Gregor finished 2-4 with a double. Tony Nuñez, who scored the Hooks' only run, singled and walked twice.

Kent Emanuel went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out 4. Kyle Smith was the first man out, and Midland gave him a rude welcome. In 1.2 innings, Smith allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits and struck out 1. Michael Freeman allowed a hit and fanned 1 in a scoreless 8th.

In game 2 of this series, Cy Sneed will go up against Heath Fillmyer. First pitch is at 7:00.

Lancaster 5, Modesto 4

Lancaster home runs: Brooks Marlow (5, 7 season; 2-run in 8th)

Brooks Marlow's blast in the 8th inning broke a 3-3 tie in the JetHawks' favor.

Yulieski Gurriel opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 1st inning. This was the first time that Gurriel did not appear in the lineup as a DH since signing; he got the start at 3B and played 5 innings.

Aaron Mizell added an RBI single in the 2nd, and Jamie Ritchie hit an RBI single of his own in the 4th inning, which tied the game at 3. Brooks Marlow replaced Gurriel at 3B in the 6th inning and he made the most of his at-bat. Ritchie and Johnny Sewald had 2 hits apiece.

Dean Deetz went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on a solo homer and a 2-run homer. He allowed 3 other hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. In his Lancaster debut, Ralph Garza Jr. allowed 2 hits and struck out 7 over 3 scoreless innings. Jacob Dorris walked 2 and struck out 2 in the 9th to record his 10th save of the season.

Quad Cities 4, Peoria 3 in 13 innings

QC home runs: Kyle Tucker (5, solo in 2nd)

The River Bandits saw their lead vanish in the 9th, but they pulled themselves together to edge the Chiefs.

Kyle Tucker finished 3-5 with 2 doubles, and his solo home run in the 2nd inning opened the scoring. Ryne Birk also finished 3-5 with 2 doubles; his first one drove in a run in the 8th, and he later scored on a Dex McCall groundout. Birk walked to lead off the top of the 13th, advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt, and scored the go-ahead run on a single from McCall. Stephen Wrenn and Myles Straw both finished with 2 hits in the game.

Elieser Hernandez allowed 3 hits and struck out 8 over 8 shutout innings; he was perfect through 6 innings. Adam Whitt came on to pitch the 9th inning, but he allowed 3 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 3 hits and walked 1 while failing to record an out. David Schmidt took ownership of the 9th and ended up going 4 innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 2, and striking out 4. Juan Carlos Santos walked 1 and struck out 2 in the bottom of the 13th.

In the series finale, Framber Valdez will take on Dailyn Martinez. First pitch is at 7:00.

Aberdeen 3, Tri-City 2 in 11 innings

The Ironbirds scored a run in the 8th to tie and walked off with the win in the 11th to even up the series.

Chuckie Robinson opened the scoring with an RBI double in the 1st, and Miguelangel Sierra grounded into a force out that allowed Alex De Goti to score in the 7th. De Goti finished 3-5 and was the only player in the Tri-City lineup with a multi-hit game.

Sebastian Kessay went 5 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out a career-high 9. Abdiel Saldaña tagged in for 3 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Angelo Serrano allowed a hit, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 2 innings. Aberdeen scored the winning run on Howie Brey with 2 outs in the 11th inning. The run, which was unearned, scored on a sac fly. Brey also allowed a single and walked 1.

Makay Nelson will start the series finale. He'll face Lucas Humpal at 7:05 Eastern.

Greeneville 4, Bristol 2

The Appy Astros doubled up the Pirates to take the first game of a new series.

Abraham Toro finished 3-4 and opened up the scoring with an RBI double in the 4th. Chaz Pal led off the 5th inning with a home run. Toro scored on a balk in the 7th, and Luis Payano added a sac fly later in the inning. Pal also recorded 2 outfield assists, and Jonathan Arauz went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.

Ben Smith threw 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 6, and striking out 5. Luis Ramirez recorded the final two outs of the 5th. Cristian Javier tagged in for 3 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Bristol spoiled the shutout by scoring 2 runs off Reggie Johnson in the 9th. One of those runs was earned; Johnson allowed 2 hits and walked 1.

Carlos Sanabria will start game 2 of this series. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Nationals 6, GCL Astros 2 in 5.5 innings

Wander Franco's 2-run homer in the 6th was the Kissimmee Stros' only scoring play.

César Rosado allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 in 3 innings. Manuel Gonzalez and Saul Martinez each pitched an inning; Gonzalez allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and walked 1 in the 4th, and Martinez struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 5th. Felipe Tejada allowed a hit in the 6th, and then the game ended.

Ozziel Sanchez-Galan's 3-run blast was part of an 8-run 7th inning that spurred the Blue team on to victory. He went 2-5 with 4 RBI and scored twice; the homer was his first as a pro. Angel Tejeda and Nestor Tejada also had 2 hits, and they also scored 2 runs. Anibal Sierra went 3-5 with 2 doubles, an RBI, and a run scored.

Yulian Frontado allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 2 in 5 innings. Yonatan Quintin allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and walked 3 in the 6th, and Carlos Perdomo pitched the final 3 innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 1.

Francisco Villegas went 5 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. The wheels fell off from under the bullpen, however.

Fresno home runs: Colin Moran (5, solo in 2nd)

The Rainiers broke a 2-2 tie with 3 runs in the top of the 8th and scored another run in the top of the 9th for good measure.

Brad Peacock pitched 3 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, issued an intentional walk, and struck out 3. Jordan Jankowski was the first man out of the Fresno bullpen; in 2 innings, he walked 1, hit a batter, and struck out 2. Kevin Chapman pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2, and Reymin Guduan allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 1.2 innings.

Colin Moran's solo home run in the 2nd inning put Fresno on the board. Andrew Aplin scored the Grizzlies' other run in the 3rd inning when Preston Tucker grounded into a double play. Jon Kemmer reached in all 4 of his plate appearances, going 3-3 with a walk, and Tyler White finished 2-4 with a triple.

César Valdez will start the series finale, which will see the Grizzlies assume their Tacos alter ego. He'll face Zach Lee at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi was off

The Texas League All-Star Game is tonight in Springfield, Missouri. The Hooks will be back in action on Thursday when they start a 3-game series with Springfield.

Lancaster home runs: Ramon Laureano (6, solo in 1st)

A pair of 3-run innings allowed the JetHawks to leave the Mavericks in the dust.

Ramon Laureano's solo home run in the 1st inning put Lancaster on the board first. The JetHawks scored 2 more in the 2nd inning on a sac fly from Brooks Marlow and an RBI bunt single from Bobby Boyd. Aaron Mizell tripled to lead off the 4th, and Marlow brought him home with a single.

The first 3-run inning for Lancaster was the 6th: Marlow led off the 6th with a double. He advanced to 3rd base on a passed ball and scored on an error that allowed Bobby Boyd to reach base. Boyd advanced to 2nd, while Ballard, who drew a walk following Marlow's advance on the passed ball, made it to 3rd. Garrett Stubbs and Laureano followed with sacrifice flies. The JetHawks also scored 3 in the 7th inning thanks to a 2-run single from Ballard, and Marlow scored Lancaster's final run of the evening when Bobby Boyd grounded into a force out.

Mizell, Marlow, and Ballard all had 2 hits from the bottom of the order; they combined to go 6-10 with a double, a triple, 4 RBI, 4 walks, and 5 runs scored. Mizell, Marlow, and Drew Ferguson scored 2 runs apiece. Bryan Muñiz also had a 2-hit night; one of his hits was a double.

Rogelio Armenteros went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 unearned runs on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. Jacob Dorris pitched the final 3.1 innings, and the only run he allowed came on a solo home run hit by David Lyon in the 8th, which was also the only hit he allowed in his outing. Dorris walked 2 and struck out 2.

Quad Cities 5, Cedar Rapids 4

The Banditos withstood a late uprising from the Kernels to take the first game of this series.

Although Dex McCall was thrown out at 3rd base trying to stretch it into a triple in the 1st, he opened up the scoring with a 2-run double. Arturo Michelena hit an RBI single in the 5th, and Connor Goedert ripped an RBI double in the 6th. Hector Roa came through with an RBI double in the 8th which allowed Quad Cities to withstand one last rally attempt in the 9th from Cedar Rapids.

The Quad Cities players in the lineup who had hits all had multi-hit games, with Roa's 3-4 effort leading the way. McCall (2B, 2 RBI), Michelena (2B, RBI, R), Osvaldo Duarte (3B, R), and Goedert (2B, RBI) each had 2 hits.

Albert Abreu allowed 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6 over 5 shutout innings. Franklin Perez pitched the final 4 innings and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5.

In game 2 of this series, Elieser Hernandez will take on Sam Clay. First pitch is at 7:00.

Tri-City 8, Lowell 3

TC home runs: Daz Cameron (1, 2-run in 4th), Carmen Benedetti (1, solo in 9th)

The Spinners entered this series unbeaten. In the end, however, Tri-City wound up taking 2 of 3. This game was tied at 3 after the 3rd inning, but the ValleyCats finished this game on a 5-0 run.

Randy César hit a single with 1 out in the 2nd, and he advanced to 3rd base on the play, thanks to an error. He scored Tri-City's first run on a Ryne Birk groundout. The ValleyCats took the lead in the 3rd on an RBI single from Carmen Benedetti and an RBI double from César, but the lead was short-lived as Lowell scored 2 in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game.

The deadlock was also short-lived, because Daz Cameron clubbed a 2-run homer in the 4th inning to give the ValleyCats the lead for good. Birk hit an RBI single in the 5th, and Daz struck again in the 6th by adding an RBI triple to his ledger. Carmen Benedetti hit his first pro home run to lead off the 9th inning.

Daz finished 4-5 and was a double shy of the cycle. The 4th-inning homer was his first as a pro. César went 3-5, while Benedetti, Birk, and Alex DeGoti finished with 2 hits on the evening.

Enrique Chavez pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. Hector Perez tagged in to throw 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit, walking 2, and striking out 4.

The ValleyCats are back home tonight, where they will begin a 3-game series with Williamsport. Brett Adcock will get the start, and he'll face Ranger Suarez. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Bristol 8, Greeneville 3

Greeneville home runs: Vicente Sanchez (1, solo in 8th)

A 5-run 2nd inning for Bristol doomed the Appy Astros.

Vicente Sanchez put Greeneville on the board with a solo home run in the 8th inning. Spencer Johnson smacked an RBI double in the 9th and came around to score on a single from Bryan De La Cruz. Sanchez had a good night as he hit a double to go along with his homer, and he also had an outfield assist.

Bryan Abreu went 1.2 innings and allowed 5 runs (4 earned). The one hit that he allowed was a 2-run double, and he walked 3 and struck out 3. Devin Raftery was the first man out of the Greeneville bullpen; he allowed a run on a balk in the 3rd. He also allowed a double, walked 2, and struck out 1. Abdiel Saldaña was the only Appy Astros pitcher to have a scoreless appearance; he allowed 2 hits and fanned 4 over 3 innings. Angelo Serrano allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and walked 2 in the 8th inning.

Carlos Sanabria will get the start as Greeneville looks to avoid the sweep. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Game 1: GCL Astros 4, GCL Marlins 0

GCL home runs: None.

Cristian Javier issued quite a few walks, but he kept the Marlins off the scoreboard to win his U.S. debut. He allowed 2 hits, walked 5, and struck out 6 over 5 shutout innings. Dariel Aquino completed the shutout, allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 3.

Jonathan Matute led off the 4th with a ground-rule double, and Edgar Lorenzo joined him on the bases with a single. The two of them scored the first runs of the game on a Troy Sieber single. Matute doubled again to lead off the 6th inning and came around to score on a single from Brody Westmoreland. Sieber walked to lead off the 7th and eventually scored the final run of game 1 when Andy Piñeda grounded into a force out. Matute finished 2-3 with 2 runs scored, while Andy Piñeda stole 2 bases, giving him 3 on the season.

Game 2: GCL Marlins 10, GCL Astros 3

L- Leovanny Rodriguez (0-1, 1-1 season)

GCL home runs: None.

The Kissimmee Stros had to settle for the split in the twinbill as the Marlins jumped out to a 10-0 lead.

Their 3 runs in this game all came in the 6th inning as Randy Vásquez smacked a 2-run triple and later scored on a wild pitch. Vásquez's triple was their only extra-base hit in game 2.

Leovanny Rodriguez went 1.2 innings and allowed 5 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 1. Luis Vásquez was the first man out; he went 1.1 innings and allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and walked 3. Junior Garcia allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2 in 2 innings, and Cris Santamaria worked around 2 walks to throw a scoreless 6th, striking out 1.

The GCL club is back in Kissimmee, and their contest with the Cardinals is getting underway.

DSL Red Sox1 9, DSL Astros Blue 7

Blue home runs: None.

All 3 of the Blue team's losses have come at the hands of the Red Sox 1, and they were swept in a series for the first time this season.

Ronny Jimenez opened the scoring with a 2-run double in the 1st inning. He advanced to 3rd on the throw from the outfield and scored on a Jose Benjamin sac fly. That would be the only scoring that Team Blue did until the 7th; in the meantime, the Sox went on a 9-0 run.

Ronny Rafael led off the 7th with a double, but he was erased at 3rd base when Alfredo Angarita hit into a fielder's choice. Nicolás Miranda drew a walk, and they both advanced on a wild pitch. Jimenez walked to load the bases, and another wild pitch allowed Angarita to score. Benjamin, who was at the plate at the time, smacked a 2-run double. He advanced to 3rd on an errant pickoff throw and scored on a wild pitch. Angarita finished 3-5 with a triple and 2 runs scored.

Juan Corniel went 3.2 innings and allowed 5 runs (4 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 4, and struck out 2. Yeremi Ceballos pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 2. Javier Navas pitched the final 3 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2.

The Blue team is currently playing the Royals.

DSL Red Sox2 12, DSL Astros Orange 9

Orange home runs: None.

The Orange team tried to rally from an 11-3 deficit, but that hole proved to be too much to overcome.

Felix Lucas put Team Orange on the board first with an RBI single in the 1st. Later in the inning, Jose Miguel Hernandez smacked a 2-run double. They would not score again until the 6th; in the meantime, the Red Sox 2 scored 11 unanswered runs.

The Orange team immediately loaded the bases with 2 singles and a walk. Bernardo Heras hit an RBI single, and an error on the play ended up clearing the bases. Heras moved to 2nd on the error, advanced to 3rd on a passed ball, and scored on a Ramiro Rodriguez groundout. In the 8th, Heras added an RBI double to his ledger, and Ronaldo Urdaneta scored on a passed ball. Heras finished 3-5, while Lucas finished 2-5. Renaigel Martis went 1-2 with 3 walks and 2 runs scored.

Humberto Castellanos went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. Luis Castro got shelled in his 1.1 innings, and I will leave it at that. Carlos Espinoza was the next man out, and he threw 1.2 innings, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walking 2, and striking out 1. Willy Collado allowed 2 hits and struck out 4 over 2 scoreless innings.

The Orange team is currently taking on the Rangers 2.

The Grizzlies took the 2-1 series lead as Brady Rodgers imposed his will on the Redbirds on Saturday night.

Rodgers allowed a run on 6 hits (5 singles and a triple) and set a new career high with 11 strikeouts in 6.2 innings. Josh Fields pitched 1.1 innings and walked 1 while striking out 2, and Kevin Chapman worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Jon Singleton and Jon Kemmer hit back-to-back solo shots in the 2nd to put Fresno on the board first. Danny Worth led off the 3rd with a single, moved to 2nd when Preston Tucker drew a walk, and scored following two wild pitches in a row. In the 5th, Matt Duffy and Tyler Heineman hit RBI singles, while Kemmer added a sac fly. Jack Mayfield drew a bases-loaded walk in the 7th to bring in the final run of the night. Well, as the old adage goes, all good things must come to an end. Both teams finished with 9 hits, but the Hooks only managed to get 1 run, and as a result, their 11-game winning streak came to an end.

The Hooks' only scoring play came on an RBI single from J.D. Davis in the 1st. Alex Bregman, who scored on the play, finished 2-4. D.J. Fisher and Alejandro Garcia also had 2 hits in this game. Fisher appeared in a game for the first time since Monday.

David Paulino went 6 innings and allowed a run on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. Angel Heredia pitched the final 2 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4.

Brian Holmes will start game 3 of this series. He'll take on Joey Wagman at 2.

An Astros team defeated a Rangers team last night. The JetHawks took control of this game with 2 in the 8th and 1 more in the 9th to draw even in the series.

Brooks Marlow opened up the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st and added a 2-run single to his ledger in the 3rd. Jason Martin led off the 4th with a solo shot and drove in the tying run with a sac fly in the 8th. Later in the 8th, Ramon Laureano drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Kristian Trompiz, which put Lancaster in the lead. In the 9th, Trompiz got picked off trying to steal 2nd, but he held out long enough for Martin to cross with an insurance run.

Marlow has recorded 4 hits with the JetHawks; he's driven in runs with all but one of them. Bryan Muñiz finished 2-5 with a triple and a run scored; he is currently on an 8-game hitting streak. Martin's homer was his only hit on the night; he also walked twice, scored twice, and stole a base (8).

On a double steal in the 3rd, Ramon Laureano took 2nd, giving him 19 on the year, putting him atop the system's stolen base leaderboard with Kyle Tucker. Laureano was hitless, but he walked twice and scored, as Marlow followed the double steal with the 2-run single. Garrett Stubbs took 3rd on the double steal, giving him 8 on the season. Johnny Sewald stole his 1st base in the California League; he now has 17 on the year. Trompiz was 1-2 on steal attempts; he's taken 4 this year.

Dean Deetz went 4 innings and allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 5. Rogelio Armenteros tagged in, and the only run he allowed in his 3.1 innings of work came on a solo homer from Tripp Martin in the 6th. Armenteros allowed three other hits, walked 1, and fanned 6. Ryan Deemes got his first save as a JetHawk, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 1 over 1.2 innings.

Josh James, who's coming off an outstanding tandem appearance, will start for Lancaster today. He'll face Ariel Jurado at 1:05 Pacific.

Quad Cities 10, Cedar Rapids 4

After getting dominated in all facets of the game on Friday night, the Banditos bounced back and returned the favor. They trailed 2-0 after the 5th, but finished the game on a 10-2 run.

That 10-2 run all started with a 6-run 6th inning. Arturo Michelena sparked the rally with a double to lead off the inning. He advanced to 3rd following a bunt single from Aaron Mizell and scored Quad Cities' first run of the night when Myles Straw legged out a bunt single of his own. Straw was forced out at 2nd, but Mizell advanced to 3rd and scored on an error that allowed Connor Goedert to reach and Kyle Tucker to reach 2nd safely. Pat Porter made the Kernels pay for that miscue as he walloped a 3-run homer to put the Banditos in front. In his 2nd plate appearance of the inning, Michelena drove in the final run of the big 6th with a sac fly.

Michelena added an RBI single to his ledger in the 8th and scored on a sac fly from Kyle Tucker. Straw also had a sac fly in the inning. Michelena capped off the night with an RBI single in the 9th, his 4th hit of the game. Michelena went 4-4 with a double and scored twice. Mizell (R, SB [5]), Straw (2 RBI), Dex McCall (2 2B, 2 R), and Christian Correa (R, BB) all had 2-hit games. McCall has 3 consecutive multi-hit games. Kyle Tucker stole his 19th base of the year; he and Ramon Laureano lead the system in stolen bases.

Jose Luis Hernandez allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 4.1 innings. Alex Winkelman went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4, and Zac Person got the final 2 outs of the game on 2 pitches.

The River Bandits and Kernels will continue their series today at 2:05. Yoanys Quiala will take on Miles Nordgren.

The Grizzlies managed to tie this one with 3 in the top of the 8th.... only to see the Aces take the series by scoring 4 in the bottom of the 8th.

Colin Moran ripped a bases-clearing double in the 8th that tied the game and constituted the only offense for Fresno. Danny Worth went 2-3 and scored on that double.

Brad Peacock allowed a 3-run homer to Peter O'Brien in the 3rd; those 3 runs were the only ones he allowed in 5.2 innings. He allowed 6 other hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. Juan Minaya retired all 4 Reno batters he faced, retiring 2 on groundouts and 2 on flyouts. Kevin Chapman got knocked around in the 8th as he allowed 4 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 3 hits and walked 1. Jordan Jankowski got the final 2 outs of the 8th, striking out 1, but he also uncorked a wild pitch that allowed the runner he inherited from Chapman to score.

After a day off, the Grizzlies will welcome the El Paso Chihuahuas to Chukchansi Park for 4 beginning on Thursday.

A fine outing from Joe Musgrove went by the wayside as the Hooks' bats went silent.

Musgrove allowed an unearned run on 5 hits and struck out 7 in 5 innings. Keegan Yuhl pitched 4 innings, and the only run he allowed came on a solo homer from Matt Chapman. Yuhl allowed one other hit and struck out 4.

D.J. Fisher's triple was Corpus Christi's only extra-base hit. Fisher also walked twice and stole a base (2). Danry Vásquez went 2-3 and was the only player on either side to have a multi-hit game.

David Paulino will be on the mound in game 2. He'll face Joel Seddon at 7:05.

Lancaster 5, Bakersfield 4

The JetHawks took game 1 over the Blaze thanks to an excellent outing from Evan Grills. They had to hang on to get the W, though.

Grills started it off with 5 no-hit innings, walking 1 and striking out 4 in the process. Elieser Hernandez tagged in for 2.1 innings and allowed a couple of 2-run homers. He allowed two other hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Riley Ferrell allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 to get the save. It got a bit hairy in the 9th as the Blaze had 2 runners on base against him in the 9th, and a wild pitch put them both in scoring position. However, Ferrell pulled himself together to strike out Austin Cousino to end the game.

Drew Ferguson smacked a 1-out triple in the bottom of the 1st and scored the first run of the evening on a Jason Martin double. Alejandro Garcia hit an RBI single in the 4th, then stole 2nd. Jamie Ritchie took advantage of the errant throw down to 2nd and scampered home. In the 6th. Ritchie drove in another run with an RBI single, and Garcia struck again by adding an RBI double to his ledger.

Alejandro Garcia was the only player on either side to have a multi-hit game as he went 2-4. The stolen base was his 4th of the season. Nick Tanielu and Jamie Ritchie scored 2 runs apiece.

In game 2 of this series, Dean Deetz will take on Eddie Campbell. First pitch is at 6:35 Pacific.

South Bend 7, Quad Cities 5

This game was tied at 4, but the Cubs closed this game by breaking the tie with 3 runs in the final three innings.

Bobby Wernes put Quad Cities on the board with an RBI double in the 2nd. In the 5th, Brooks Marlow scored on a wild pitch, and Connor Goedert hit a 2-run sac fly. Yes, that's right, he hit a 2-run sacrifice fly that scored Daz Cameron and Kyle Tucker. Tony Nuñez hit an RBI single in the 9th to pull a run back.

Marlow had himself a night as he finished 5-5 with a triple. Wernes went 2-4.

Jose Luis Hernandez went 3.1 innings and allowed 4 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. Zac Person was the first man out; he went 1.2 innings and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1. Albert Abreu allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3 in 2 innings, and Jacob Dorris allowed a run, a hit, walked 1, and struck out 4 in 2 innings.

Game 2 of this series will start at 11:00 A.M. as Chris Murphy takes on Justin Steele.
