Everyone won, it was a good day.

Fresno 11, Sacramento 2

Fresno home runs: None.

After being held for the first four innings, the Grizzlies roared to life and scored the last eleven runs of the night to bury the RiverCats.

Kent Emanuel turned in a solid outing as he allowed two runs on eight hits, walked two, and struck out six in 6.2 innings of work. Buddy Boshers allowed a hit and struck out three in 1.1 innings, and James Hoyt threw a 1-2-3 9th, striking out one.

Fresno loaded the bases with two outs in the 5th and came through with three runs. Drew Ferguson got them on the board, but getting plunked with the bases loaded probably wasn't how he envisioned driving in a run. Kyle Tucker followed with a two-run single to put the Grizz in front for good. Garrett Stubbs scored on an error following a Jack Mayfield single in the 6th inning. Tyler White smacked a two-run ground-rule double to spark a four-run 7th. A.J. Reed followed with... an RBI triple. Yes, that's exactly what happened. Reed ended up scoring on a J.D. Davis single. Fresno loaded the bases again in the 8th and got three runs out of it. Tony Kemp scored on an error that allowed White to reach and Reed and Davis finished it off by drawing bases-loaded walks.

Ferguson was the only player in the Fresno lineup without a hit, but he still contributed by scoring a couple of runs to go along with his bases-loaded hit by pitch. Tony Kemp went 3-4 with two stolen bases and three runs; he now has 12 stolen bases this season. Tucker, Davis, Stubbs, and Mayfield all had two hits on the night.

David Paulino faces Tyler Beede in game 2 of this series. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi 6, Midland 3

After the Hounds made it a one-run game with a couple of runs in the 6th, the Hooks got a little breathing room by responding with two of their own in the 7th.

No Corpus pitcher threw more than three innings in this game. Cionel Perez went the furthest. He allowed a run on four hits and walked two in 2.2 innings. Kevin Hill was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out three in 2.1 scoreless. Brendan Feldmann and Alex Winkelman threw two innings apiece; Feldmann allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits (solo homer) and walked one, while Winkelman walked two and struck out three to earn the save.

Myles Straw singled to lead off the game and scored on an error that allowed Yordan Alvarez to reach. Alvarez came home on a Ryne Birk single and Taylor Jones, who drew a walk, scored when Nick Tanielu grounded into a force out but managed to beat a double play attempt. Carmen Benedetti tripled to lead off the 5th and scored on an Alvarez single. Benedetti singled with one out in the 7th and Jones brought him in with a single. Birk drove in the final run of the evening with a sac fly. Benedetti finished 3-4 on the night, while Alex De Goti went 2-4 with a double out of the #9 spot in the order.

Josh James will start the first of a four-game series in San Antonio at 7:05. He'll face Jerry Keel.

Buies Creek 10, Winston-Salem 6

BC home runs: Aníbal Sierra (3, 2-run in 8th)

The Carolina Stros got out to a fast start and a late homer and a fine relief effort secured the win.

Alfredo Angarita doubled to lead off the 3rd and scored the first run of the evening on an error that allowed Aníbal Sierra to reach and advance to second base. Ronnie Dawson drew a walk and they both advanced a base on a Chas McCormick sac bunt. Abraham Toro followed with an RBI single and Troy Sieber added another run on a sac fly. Toro stole second and scored on Osvaldo Duarte's triple. Duarte came home on Kristian Trompiz's single. McCormick tripled to start the 5th and scored when Sieber hit into a fielder's choice. Duarte followed with a single and Trompiz walked to load the bases for Carlos Canelón, who hit a sac fly. Trompiz stole second and Duarte scored on the errant throw down. The Dash got closer thanks to a four-run 7th that cut Buies Creek's lead to two, but Aníbal Sierra provided some breathing room with a two-run blast in the 8th.

McCormick (3B, R), Sieber (2 RBI, R), Duarte (3B, RBI, 2 R), and Sierra (2B, 2-R HR, 2 R) all finished with two hits on the night.

Abdiel Saldaña went 4.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out five. Jorge Alcala allowed a run, which was an inherited runner that was charged to him, on two hits and walked one in 1.1 innings; his night ended early because he got tossed after hitting Joel Booker with a pitch to start the 7th inning. Jesús Balaguer came on in Alcala's stead but failed to record an out. He allowed three runs on two hits and walked two. Kit Scheetz came in and restored order by throwing three scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.

Brandon Bielak will look to rebound from his toughest outing of the year. He'll face Bernardo Flores at 6:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 8, Lansing 7

QC home runs: Jonathan Arauz (3, solo in 1st), Mike Papierski (1, solo in 1st)

The Banditos got out to a fast start but had to hang on to get the win in Michigan's capital city.

Jonathan Arauz and Mike Papierski opened the scoring by smacking back-to-back solo homers in the 1st inning. Bryan de la Cruz struck out for the second out of the inning, but Jake Adams kept the line moving with a single and Adrian Tovalin ripped an RBI double to bring him in. Marcos Almonte followed with an RBI single. Arauz walked with two outs in the 2nd and scored on a single from de la Cruz, who extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Tovalin drew a leadoff walk in the 3rd, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a Colton Shaver single. Shaver rumbled home on a Corey Julks double, and Arauz brought Julks home with an RBI single.

Shaver went 3-4 on Friday night, while Arauz (solo HR, 2 RBI, 2 R), Papierski (solo HR), de la Cruz (RBI single), and Tovalin all had two hits.

Cristian Javier went four innings and allowed three runs on six hits (two solo homers), walked one, and struck out five. Cole Watts came on for the 5th but failed to record an out; he allowed two unearned runs on two hits and walked one. Luis Garcia took ownership of the 5th and went on to throw 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits (solo homer), walking two, and striking out four. Tanner Duncan got the last four outs of the game, striking out two to earn the save.

Parker Mushinski will take on Yennsy Diaz in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05 Eastern.

The Grizzlies took the opener of their series with the Aces behind a solid night on the mound and when Reno cut their lead to one run, they got some timely offense to secure the victory.

Tony Kemp ripped an RBI double in the 2nd inning to put Fresno on the board first. They scored two more in the 3rd behind a pair of RBI singles from A.J. Reed and Garrett Stubbs. Jon Kemmer led off the 6th with a triple and scored when Kemp beat a double play attempt. The Grizzlies sealed the deal with 3 runs in the 8th inning on RBI singles from Kemp and Drew Ferguson and a sac fly from Kyle Tucker. Kemp finished 3-5 with a stolen base (6), while Stubbs and Ferguson had two hits apiece.

Mike Hauschild went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits (solo homer) and struck out 7. Brendan McCurry allowed 3 hits and fanned 3 over two scoreless innings, and James Hoyt recorded a strikeout in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Corpus Christi 10, Frisco 3

Corpus stormed out to a 7-0 lead after the first two innings and for the most part, had few complications with the Roughriders.

Myles Straw led off the game with a single, stole second, and advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw from Pedro Payano. Yordan Alvarez eventually drew a walk and they both scored when Taylor Jones smacked a double. One batter later, Nick Tanielu launched a home run to put the Hooks up 4-0 out of the gate. Straw singled again in the 2nd inning and scored on an error that allowed Alvarez to reach. Jones followed by ripping another RBI double and Randy César hit an RBI single. Jamie Ritchie ripped a two-run double in the 4th inning and Straw capped off the evening with his fifth hit of the game, an RBI triple in the 9th inning.

Alvarez was the only man in the Corpus lineup who failed to record a hit, but he managed to score twice. Jones, Tanielu, Ryne Birk, Ritchie, and Alex De Goti all turned in two-hit nights.

Akeem Bostick allowed a run on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5 in 3.2 innings. Brendan Feldmann was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and went 1.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3. Yoanys Quiala pitched the final 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1.

Alex Winkelman gets the start in game 3. He'll face Brett Martin at 4:05.

Carolina 3, Buies Creek 0

The Carolina Stros were shut out and their winning streak came to a close.

Chuckie Robinson had both of Buies Creek's hits.

Jorge Alcala pitched well, but the only decision he could take was the loss. In 5 innings, he allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. Kit Scheetz threw 1.2 innings and the two runs he allowed came on a home run hit by former Aggie Ronnie Gideon. Scheetz allowed three other hits, walked one, and struck out four. Ronel Blanco struck out two over 1.1 perfect innings.

Abdiel Saldaña will take on La Grange's Trey Supak in the series finale. First pitch is at 2:00 Eastern.

Game 1: Burlington 5, Quad Cities 3

QC home runs: None.

The Banditos scored in more innings... but the Bees scored more in their one inning as they took game 1.

J.J. Matijevic doubled in the 1st and eventually scored the first run of game 1 when he stole home as part of a double steal with Jonathan Arauz. Roman Garcia reached on an error to lead off the 2nd and scored on a sac fly from Jake Meyers. Garcia hit an RBI single in the 3rd. Matijevic and Gabriel Bracamonte had two hits apiece.

Tyler Ivey cruised through four innings before the wheels fell off for him in the 5th. He threw 4+ innings and allowed 5 runs (3 inherited runners charged to him) on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Colin McKee took ownership of the 5th and although he technically threw a scoreless inning in which he struck out the side, he also allowed a bases-clearing double that resulted in three runs being charged to Ivey. Tanner Duncan got a couple of groundouts and a flyout in a scoreless 6th.

Game 2: Quad Cities 5, Burlington 4

QC home runs: Jake Meyers (1, 2-run in 5th)

Quad Cities erased a 4-0 deficit to earn the split.

Jake Meyers put the Banditos on the board in game 2 with a two-run blast in the 5th inning. All three of their runs in the 7th came with two outs. Meyers singled in between those two outs and scored on a Corey Julks triple. Julks scored the tying run on a single from Jake Adams, who rumbled home with the go-ahead run on a double from Jonathan Arauz. Meyers finished 3-3, while Julks had two hits in game 2.

Peter Solomon went 2.1 innings and allowed 4 runs on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 4, and struck out 4. Adam Bleday restored order with 3.2 scoreless, allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 7. Dariel Aquino worked around a walk to close out the game, striking out 1.

Quad Cities and Burlington will play another doubleheader today, with Cristian Javier taking the mound at 2:00 for game 1. Yohan Ramirez will take on Mitchell Traver in game 2.

Organization sweep!

Fresno 10, Las Vegas 8

Fresno home runs: A.J. Reed (1, 2-run in 9th)

Um... wow. The Grizzlies looked like they were about to get blown out of the ballpark until they scored all ten of their runs in the final three innings to stun Vegas.

Rogelio Armenteros got knocked around in his three innings as he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 4. Andrew Thome was the first man out of the Fresno bullpen and threw 2.1 innings; the one scoring play he allowed was a 2-run homer to Zach Borenstein. He allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 2. Buddy Boshers worked around a hit to get the last two outs of the 6th.

James Hoyt, Matt Ramsey, and Brendan McCurry each worked an inning. Hoyt had the bases loaded on him in the 7th but managed to work out of trouble, striking out 2. Ramsey struck out two in a 1-2-3 8th. McCurry struck out the first two men he faced in the 9th but the last out proved to be elusive as the 51s scored a run thanks to a hit batter and a pair of singles. Fortunately, McCurry pulled himself together and finished the game by striking out David Thompson.

Tony Kemp put Fresno on the board with an RBI single in the 7th. Fresno rattled off 4 runs in the 8th, all with two outs. Kyle Tucker singled to lead off the inning and Tyler White joined him on the bases after getting hit by a pitch. A.J. Reed grounded into a double play, but J.D. Davis kept the inning alive with an RBI double. Jon Kemmer followed with an RBI triple and Garrett Stubbs brought him home with a single. Tony Nuñez and Tony Kemp walked to load the bases for Drew Ferguson, who came through with an RBI single to make this a 7-5 game.

White singled to lead off the 9th and Reed launched a home run to tie the game. Kemp put the Grizzlies in front with an RBI double and then a passed ball allowed him and Stubbs to score. Stubbs went 4-5 on the night. Kemp (2B, 2 RBI, R) and Davis (2B, RBI, 3 R) both finished 3-5, while Kemmer finished 2-4 with his RBI triple.

Kent Emanuel will start the series finale and he'll face P.J. Conlon at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi 5, Frisco 3

CC home runs: Taylor Jones (1, solo in 5th)

The Hooks got a pair of runs in the 8th to break a 3-3 tie and came out on top in their first tussle with Arlington's AA affiliate.

Brock Dykxhoorn allowed a couple of runs on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 3 in 5 innings of work. Sean Stutzman went 2.2 innings and allowed a run on a groundout, a double, walked 3, and struck out 3. Riley Ferrell issued a couple of walks and struck out two over the final 1.1 innings to record the save.

Myles Straw got plunked to lead off the game. He went on to steal second (10) and scored the first run of the night on a Carmen Benedetti RBI single. Taylor Jones doubled to start the 4th and came around to score on a single from Alex De Goti. After the Roughriders scored twice in the 4th to tie the game, Jones struck again in the 5th when he whacked a solo homer off Collin Wiles to put Corpus back in the lead. He drew a walk with one out in the 8th and ended up scoring the go-ahead run when Randy César swatted a double into the right-center field gap. César, who went 3-4, scored a crucial insurance run on Jamie Ritchie's single. Jones finished 2-3 and scored three of the Hooks' five runs in this game.

Buies Creek 8, Carolina 4

BC home runs: Ronnie Dawson (2, solo 3rd), Chuckie Robinson (1, 2-run in 7th)

Four runs on Buies Creek. Feels like it's been a while since that's happened. No matter, a late uprising gave them their sixth consecutive win.

Buies Creek scored twice in the 3rd as Ronnie Dawson led things off with a homer and Kristian Trompiz hit an infield single to score Abraham Toro. They scored all four of their runs in the 7th with two outs to take control. Josh Rojas hit a one-out single, advanced to second on a Toro groundout, stole third, and scored on a Chas McCormick double. Osvaldo Duarte followed by lashing an RBI triple to tie the game, and Chuckie Robinson put the Carolina Stros in front by clubbing a two-run homer. Duarte ripped a two-run double in the 9th to seal the deal. He, along with Dawson (solo HR, 2 SB), Robinson (2-R HR), and Aníbal Sierra all finished with two hits on the night.

The Carolina Stros wreaked havoc on the bases on Thursday as they went 6-7 in stolen base attempts. Dawson (6) and Rojas (9) stole two apiece while Robinson (1) and Toro (2) each had one.

Brandon Bailey allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9 in 4 innings of work. The Mudcats tagged Jesús Balaguer for 3 runs on 4 hits (2-run homer) in the 5th. Balaguer also issued a walk and struck out 1 in the inning. Carson LaRue allowed 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 over the final four innings.

Quad Cities 2, Peoria 1 in 10 innings

QC home runs: None.

The Banditos finally got to play baseball again! Nine innings was not enough to determine the outcome of this game, but fortunately, the River Bandits wasted little time in wrapping this game up thanks to a run in the first extra frame.

Four pitchers combined to allow one run and one hit while striking out 18. Parker Mushinski allowed that run on a passed ball, a single, walked 3, and struck out 8 in 4 innings. Robert Corniel struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 5th. Luis Garcia then tagged in for 3 no-hit innings; he walked 1 and struck out 6. Colin McKee walked 1 and struck out 2 over 2 scoreless to get the victory.

Marcos Almonte lashed an RBI double in the 2nd to open the scoring. Let's fast-forward to the 10th. Mike Papierski started the inning as the man on second and Almonte didn't see a pitch because he was intentionally walked. Roman Garcia got hit to load the bases, but it was a scary moment as Thomas St. Clair's pitch hit him in the head and knocked him out of the game. Corey Julks ended up taking his place on first. Papierski had a passed ball that resulted in Peoria's only run... and he scored the winning run for Quad Cities on a wild pitch. Almonte's RBI double was the only extra-base hit in this game for either side.

César Rosado will start the first of a five-game series in Burlington. He'll face Jeremy Beasley at 11:30 AM. Today is the only day where one game will be played; Quad Cities and Burlington will play a doubleheader on Saturday and another one on Sunday to make up a couple of postponed games during the River Bandits' previous trip to Burlington.

Fresno wasted little time in imposing their will on this game with an 8-run 1st inning.

Tony Kemp walked to lead off the game and Drew Ferguson followed by whacking a two-run homer to open the scoring. The inning suddenly looked like it was on the verge of stopping there because Kyle Tucker popped out and Tyler White lined out, but A.J. Reed walked to keep the inning moving. He advanced to third on a J.D. Davis single and scored on a Jon Kemmer single. Stubbs stole second and Jack Mayfield worked a walk to load the bases for Kemp, who hit a two-run single. Ferguson capped off the early onslaught with a two-run triple.

That triple would be the Grizzlies' last scoring play until the 7th, when Davis launched a solo homer. Stubbs capped off the evening with a two-run double. Davis (solo HR, 3 R) and Kemp (2 RBI, 2 R, SB) had three hits apiece, while Ferguson (3B, 2-R HR, 4 RBI) and Stubbs (2B, 3 RBI, R, SB) both finished 2-5.

Trent Thornton went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. Andrew Thome was the first man out of the Fresno bullpen and got the last two outs of the 6th; he allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out one. Buddy Boshers struck out two in a 1-2-3 7th but ran into trouble in the 8th as a single and a couple of walks loaded the bases. Jacob Dorris took ownership of the last two innings and although he issued a bases-loaded walk that allowed one of Boshers' runners to score, no further damage was inflicted. Dorris walked 3 and struck out 3 in his two innings of work.

The Hooks managed to cut their deficit to one run in the 7th, but the Travelers scored twice in three consecutive innings to foil their bid to sweep the series.

All three Corpus runs came in that 7th inning and pulled them to within one, at 4-3. Nick Tanielu led off the inning with a homer to put the Hooks on the board. Randy César followed by drawing a walk and one batter later, Jamie Ritchie ripped a double to bring him in. Ritchie wound up scoring on a wild pitch that Stephen Wrenn swung at and missed. He and Tanielu both finished 2-4 on the night.

Josh James allowed 4 hits and struck out 7 over 5 shutout innings. Framber Valdez tagged in for 3 innings but got roughed up to the tune of 6 runs on 9 hits; he also issued a walk and struck out 2. Brendan Feldmann worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 2.

Corpus Christi has the day off. Tomorrow, they'll kick off the Texas League iteration of the Lone Star Series with a four-game set in Frisco. Brock Dykxhoorn is scheduled to face Collin Wiles.

Buies Creek 6, Myrtle Beach 2

The Carolina Stros' shutout streak went by the wayside... their winning streak did not. After the Pelicans scored first, Buies Creek finished the game on a 6-1 run.

Hector Perez allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7 in 4.2 innings. Ronel Blanco tagged in for 3.1 no-hit innings, walking 1 and striking out 4. Kit Scheetz allowed a run on a sac fly, a double, and issued a walk in the 9th.

Buies Creek took the lead with a 3-run 6th inning that very nearly ended up scoreless, thanks to a double play. Ronnie Dawson kept the inning alive by drawing a walk and moved to third on a Josh Rojas single. Rojas stole second (4) and Abraham Toro got hit by a pitch to load the bases for Troy Sieber, who came through with a two-run single. One batter later, Toro scored on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch in the 7th allowed Kristian Trompiz to score, and in the 8th, Chas McCormick ripped an RBI double, and he came around to score on a single from Trompiz. Sieber and McCormick had two hits apiece.

Brandon Bielak will face Jose Paulino as Buies Creek looks for the sweep. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Peoria 6, Quad Cities 2

It all went horribly wrong for the Banditos late as the Chiefs scored all six of their runs in the top of the 8th inning to seize control. At least they finally got to play baseball again after being forced to take the weekend off because the weather is stupid.

Quad Cities scored their two runs without utilizing a hit to do so in either instance. Cody Bohanek scored the first run of the evening when he stole home in the 1st inning and Adrian Tovalin was plunked with the bases loaded in the 3rd.

Cristian Javier allowed a hit, walked 4, and struck out 6 over 4 shutout innings. Carlos Hiraldo bridged the gap between Javier and Yohan Ramirez by throwing a 1-2-3 5th in his season debut. Ramirez threw two scoreless innings to start off his night, but everything unraveled for him in the 8th. Ultimately, he allowed 3 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 2+ innings. Carlos Sanabria took ownership of the 8th, but did not fare much better. In addition to allowing the two runners he inherited from Ramirez to score, he allowed three more runs (all of which were unearned) on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Cole Watts worked around a couple of walks to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out one.

Fresno 13, Tacoma 9

Fresno home runs: None.

Tacoma led 4-3 after the first two innings and then rattled off five more runs to extend their lead to 9-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th. The Grizzlies mounted a forceful response by nearly erasing the deficit in the bottom of the 6th with five runs and seized control with five more runs after stretch time.

Both teams scored a run in the 1st; Fresno's came when Tony Kemp scored on a wild pitch. Tony Nuñez ripped an RBI double in the 2nd and scored on an infield single from Kemp. This would be their last scoring play until the 6th; in the meantime, Tacoma built up their lead.

Fresno scored 5 in the 6th on an RBI single from Jack Mayfield, a 2-run single from Alejandro Garcia, and a 2-run double from Drew Ferguson, which made it a one-run game. Tyler White reached on an error to lead off the 7th and scored the tying run on an error that allowed Garcia to reach. One batter later, Nuñez put the Grizzlies in front with a 2-run single. Kemp followed with an RBI double and Kyle Tucker completed the comeback by drawing a bases-loaded walk.

Everyone in the Grizzlies' lineup recorded at least one hit. Kemp (2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) and Tim Federowicz (2 R) both finished with three, while Nuñez and Mayfield both had two hits and two runs scored.

Trent Thornton went 4.1 innings and allowed 5 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Buddy Boshers got the final two outs of the 5th, but not before he allowed a two-run homer to Cam Perkins, which was the only hit that he surrendered in his outing. One of the runs was charged to Thornton. Boshers also issued three walks. Brendan Feldmann and Brendan McCurry both pitched two innings with varying results; Feldmann allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2, while McCurry allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout in a scoreless appearance.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will welcome the two Arkansas clubs to Whataburger Field for their first homestand of the season. First up is three with Northwest Arkansas beginning at 7:05. Framber Valdez is scheduled to face Zach Lovvorn.

Lynchburg 7, Buies Creek 3

The Carolina Stros were foiled in their bid to sweep the series as they fell behind 7-0 after the 3rd inning.

Jorge Alcala's command and control deserted him as he failed to get out of the 2nd inning; he allowed 3 runs, 2 hits, and walked 5 in 1.2 innings. He walked the last three hitters he faced; two of them came with the bases loaded. Carlos Sierra was the first man out of the Buies Creek bullpen and he at least got Alcala out of the inning without having any further damage inflicted on his line. Unfortunately, Sierra didn't fare much better. He allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 in 3 innings. Justin Ferrell restored some semblance of order to this game by allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 1 over 3.1 scoreless.

Buies Creek scored their three runs in the 4th inning thanks to RBI singles from Abraham Toro and Kristian Trompiz; Toro ended up scoring on an error that allowed Chas McCormick to reach. Toro and Josh Rojas both finished 2-4 on the evening.

Brandon Bielak will start Buies Creek's home opener against Salem at 7:00 Eastern.

Kane County 5, Quad Cities 2

The Banditos got a couple of runs in the opening frame... but that was it.

Those two runs came courtesy of RBI singles from Jonathan Arauz and Adrian Tovalin. All five Quad Cities hits in this game were singles.

César Rosado allowed an RBI single, walked 2, and struck out 4 in 5 innings of work. Adam Bleday was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and allowed 3 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 1.1 innings. Robert Corniel allowed two of the three runners he inherited from Bleday to score and allowed another run of his own on a single, walked 5, and struck out 1 in 1.2 innings. Cole Watts worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 2.

Patrick Sandoval makes his second start of the season. He'll take on Mack Lemieux at 6:35.

The Grizzlies scored three runs in the 5th and the 6th to seize control of this game and even up their series with the Aces at 2 games apiece.

Rogelio Armenteros went 4.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer), walked 3, and struck out 6. Fresno's bullpen picked him up by allowing just one run over the final 4.2 innings. Jacob Dorris struck out 2 over 1.2 perfect frames, Chris Nunn allowed that one run on 2 hits and struck out 2 in 2 innings, and Matt Ramsey worked around a hit in order to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

A.J. Reed singled to lead off the 2nd inning and eventually scored the first run of the afternoon on a Jon Kemmer groundout. This would be the Grizzlies' only run of the game until the 5th inning.

After Alejandro Garcia struck out to start the 5th, Tony Kemp, Drew Ferguson, and Kyle Tucker all drew walks. Kemp ended up scoring on a wild pitch. Tyler White drew yet another walk to re-load the bases, and then Reed followed by walking Ferguson in. Garrett Stubbs followed with a sac fly.

In contrast to the 5th, the Grizzlies used some hits to score in the 6th. Kemmer walked to lead things off and scored on Garcia's RBI double. Kemp followed with an RBI single and then scored on a double play. Super Jack Mayfield ripped an RBI double in the 7th and Reed drove in Fresno's last run of the day with an 8th-inning sac fly. Kemp (RBI, 3 R), Reed (2 RBI, R), Stubbs (RBI, R), and Garcia (2B, RBI, R) all finished with two hits on the afternoon.

The Hooks were on the verge of taking a rather ugly loss to start a new series, but they suddenly sprang to life in the final half-inning and legitimately made things interesting before ultimately falling short.

Entering the 9th, Corpus only had two hits on the day. However, Myles Straw and Carmen Benedetti led off the inning by drawing walks and they both advanced on a passed ball. Yuli Gurriel, Yordan Alvarez, and Randy César all followed with RBI singles, and Nick Tanielu ripped a two-run double. All five Corpus Christi runs scored before they made an out. Unfortunately, the next three men went down. Yuli (2B, RBI, R) and Tanielu (2B, 2 RBI) both finished 2-4 on the day.

Akeem Bostick went 3.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. Kevin Hill was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and allowed a run on 2 hits and walked 2 in 1.1 innings. Ralph Garza Jr. pitched the final three innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2.

Cionel Perez makes his 2018 debut in the middle game of this series and he'll be opposed by Nathan Bannister. First pitch is at 7:10.

Game 1: Buies Creek 1, Salem 0 in 8 innings

BC home runs: None.

There was only one scoring play in this game and it belonged to the Carolina Stros. Unlike Quad Cities on Saturday, Buies Creek was the beneficiary of the new extra-innings rule. It's still stupid and I will not hear any arguments about how it actually is not stupid.

Kristian Trompiz started at second base to start the 8th inning, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored the only run of the first game on an Osvaldo Duarte sac fly. Chas McCormick (2B), Luis Payano, and Chuckie Robinson had the only Buies Creek hits in Game 1.

Carson LaRue allowed 3 hits and struck out 3 in 4.2 innings. Justin Ferrell tagged in and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 3.1 innings.

Game 2: Salem 2, Buies Creek 1 in 8 innings

L- Carlos Sierra (0-1)

BC home runs: None.

As if one game featuring that rule wasn't enough... the second game of the Buies Creek-Salem doubleheader also went to extra innings.

Aníbal Sierra led off the third inning with a double, advanced to 3rd base on a wild pitch, and scored the Carolina Stros' only run of game 2 on a Carlos Canelón groundout. The other Buies Creek hit in this game was a Ronnie Dawson double.

In his Astros debut, Brandon Bailey allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7 in 5.1 innings. The Red Sox scored the winning run, which was unearned, off of Carlos Sierra with one out in the 8th inning. In 2 innings, Sierra allowed 2 hits and walked 2.

Buies Creek's season-opening roadtrip continues in Lynchburg, Virginia, where they will begin a three-game series with the Hillcats at 6:30 Eastern. Whoever gets the start will go up against Justin Garza.

Quad Cities and Cedar Rapids was postponed again

Due to snow showers in the forecast. This game will be made up at a later date.

Yohan Ramirez, who has definitely waited a while to pitch this season, will take the mound for the River Bandits' home opener. He'll take on Cole Stapler at 6:35.
