Reno 7, Oklahoma City 6
W- Kevin Munson (3-2)
L- Andrew Robinson (0-1, 4-3 season)
OKC home runs: None.
The RedHawks were not able to hold a 6-3 lead and they got burned by the Aces' 8 and 9 hitters.
Asher Wojciechowski went 3.1 innings and allowed 3 runs (all inherited runners that were charged to him) on 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 1. David Martinez allowed the 3 runners he inherited from Wojo to score, but otherwise had a fantastic outing. All 3 runs scored on the only hit he gave up, which was a triple to Mike Freeman. Martinez went 4.2 innings and struck out 6. Andrew Robinson faced 5 batters in the 9th and did not retire any of them. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in the inning.
Domingo Santana went 3-4 and opened up the scoring with an RBI single in the 3rd. After the Aces got that bases-clearing triple in the 4th, the RedHawks got those 3 runs, and the lead, back in the 5th as Preston Tucker drew a bases-loaded walk and Gregorio Petit hit a 2-run single. L.J. Hoes hit an RBI single in the 6th, and Petit laid down an RBI bunt single in the 9th. Petit, Hoes, Matt Duffy, Austin Wates, and Kiké Hernandez all had 2-hit games. Santana is now on a 6-game hitting streak, while Hoes is on a 7-game streak with 6 of those 7 being multi-hit games, and Petit extended his streak to 11.
Game 3 of this series has Brett Oberholtzer taking on Bo Schultz. First pitch is at 9:05.
San Antonio 5, Corpus Christi 2
W- Juan Oramas (3-0)
L- Tommy Shirley (5-3)
S- Frank Garces (4)
CC home runs: None.
Well, the Missions have had the Hooks' number as of late. Corpus has dropped 2 series in a row to San Antonio, losing 6 of the last 8 matchups.
Jonathan Meyer had a hand in both of the Hooks runs, which came in the the 2nd. He opened up the scoring with an RBI triple in the 2nd, and one batter later, he scored on an RBI single from Carlos Perdomo. Meyer wound up finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Perdomo and Ruben Sosa had 2 hits apiece, and M.P. Cokinos celebrated his 24th birthday with 2 hits and a run scored.
Tommy Shirley went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Alex Sogard gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1.
The Hooks will now head home for 4 against Frisco. Kyle Smith will get the nod in the opener; he'll take on Jerad Eickhoff at 7:10.
The A clubs were off
They'll be back in action tonight. Lancaster will be in Lake Elsinore for 4. First pitch will be at 9:05. Quad Cities will welcome Peoria to Modern Woodmen Park for 4 beginning at 7:00.

W- Joe Michaud (1-1)
L- Austin Chrismon (1-1)
TC home runs: None.

In game 2 of this series, Joe Musgrove will take on Vincent Veliz at 6:05.
DSL Rays 6, DSL Astros Blue 5
W- Jean Henriquez (1-0)
L- Dariel Aquino (0-1)
Blue home runs: Wander Franco (2, 2-run in 9th)
The Blue team walked off with a loss after Franco tied the game at 5 with his home run. And so, after an NFL season's worth of games, the Blue team's record stands at 7-9.
All 5 of their runs came in the final 4 frames of the game. In the 6th, Jonathan Matute hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Marcos Almonte to score. Matute would end up scoring on a groundout from Franco. Matute, who finished 2-4 with 2 runs scored, added an RBI single in the 7th.
Erasmo Pinales pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Gerald Benzant allowed 2 runs, but they both scored after he left the game. He allowed 2 hits over 1.2 innings. Ramon Rodriguez got the final out of the 7th, but not before he allowed a 2-run double that allowed the 2 runners he inherited from Benzant to score. Yan De La Cruz got 2 outs in the 8th and allowed 2 hits and issued a walk. Dariel Aquino, who is making the transition to becoming a pitcher, got 2 outs in the 9th, but Darinel Rodriguez took him deep to give the Rays the win.
The Blue team will travel to the Athletics' complex for a game later this morning. First pitch is at 9:30 A.M.
DSL Rangers2 17, DSL Astros Orange 6
W- Daniel Mavo (2-1)
L- Bryan Abreu (0-1)
Orange home runs: None.
The Orange team came out of the gate strong as they led 5-0 after 4 innings, but.... they were on the wrong end of a 17-1 run to close out the game.
Vicente Sanchez opened the scoring in the 1st with an RBI groundout, and later in the inning, Wilson Amador scored on a passed ball. They got 3 in the 4th thanks to a 2-run triple from Andy Piñeda. Rodrigo Ayarza rewarded Piñeda's effort by bringing him home with a single. Sanchez scored on a wild pitch in the 7th, but they were just overwhelmed. Ayarza and Frankeny Fernandez had 2 hits each.
Starlyng Sanchez started off with 4 scoreless, allowing a hit, walking 3, and striking out 3. It was definitely not a good morning for Orange pitchers, as they issued 17 walks. And let's leave it at that.

Cristopher Luciano put the Orange team on the board first in the 1st with an RBI single. They scored a pair in the 3rd on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Wilson Amador and an RBI single from Andy Piñeda. And, in the 4th, Vicente Sanchez scored on a wild pitch. Piñeda finished 3-4, while Ihan Bernal went 2-3. They drew 12 walks in this game! They're learning early... get yourselves on base.
Yhoan Acosta went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Benzant threw 3 innings and gave up 2 runs (both in the 6th; 1 earned) on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5.
The Orange team is at home, hosting the Rangers 1.

OKC home runs: None.
Close, but no cigar. The RedHawks got burned by a bases-clearing double from Mike Moustakas in the 3rd, and they have lost 3 straight since coming home.
Domingo Santana went 2-4 and led off the 2nd with a double. He'd come around to score OKC's first run of the evening on a Gregorio Petit single. After Jon Singleton doubled to lead off the 4th, Santana hit a single to drive him in. L.J. Hoes hit a sac fly in the 8th, which made it a 4-3 game at the time. Santana and Petit finished with 2 hits apiece.
David Martinez pitched 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, walking 3, and striking out 5. Alex White struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 8th, and Jason Stoffel gave up a run on a sac fly, walked 3, and struck out 1 in the 9th.
OKC will look to avoid the sweep as Mike Foltynewicz, who struck out 12 the last time he faced the Storm Chasers, takes the hill. He'll take on John Lamb at 7:05.

CC home runs: None.
The Hooks were shut out in the final 2 games of this series after taking the opener 6-2. Jio Mier and Preston Tucker had 2 hits apiece; Jio's double in the 9th was the only extra-base hit for Corpus. The two of them were stranded on 2nd and 3rd to end the game. René Garcia was 1-1 with 2 walks.
David Rollins went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Alex Sogard threw 3 scoreless, allowing 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 3. Michael Dimock pitched the final 2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 1.
The other Arkansas team is in Corpus for the weekend. Mike Hauschild will start the opener against J.C. Sulbaran at 7:10.

Lancaster home runs: Jobduan Morales (1, 2 season; solo in 3rd)
The JetHawks took sole possession of 1st place in the California League South with their sweep of the Storm. After Lake Elsinore took a 2-1 lead after 3 innings, the JetHawks responded with 4 unanswered runs, which included a 3-run 6th.
Jobduan Morales put the JetHawks on the board with a solo homer in the 3rd, his 1st as a JetHawk and 2nd of the season. That would be their only run of the game until they took control in the 6th inning, when they got RBI singles from Rio Ruiz and Danry Vásquez, and Ruben Sosa scored when Carlos Perdomo scored on a force out. Conrad Gregor brought home the JetHawks' final run of the night with an RBI single in the 8th. Tony Kemp finished 2-5 with a run scored. Perdomo, despite going 0-3, scored twice and added a couple of stolen bases (8). Carlos Correa went 1-3 with a steal (12).
Chris Devenski went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 5. Matt Heidenreich allowed a hit over 2 scoreless, and Jamaine Cotton shook off a solo homer from Hunter Renfroe to close it out. He allowed one other hit in the 9th, but nothing came of it.
The JetHawks will now begin a 7-game homestand. First up is a 4-game set with Rancho Cucamonga. Josh Hader will start the opener; he'll face Chris Anderson at 6:30 Pacific.
Quad Cities 2, Beloit 1
W- Jandel Gustave (5-2)
L- Matt Stalcup (0-2)
QC home runs: Ronnie Mitchell (6, 2-run in 7th)
That 2-run homer was all the offense for Quad Cities. Mitchell homered for the 3rd straight game, while Jack Mayfield, who also scored on the blast, finished 2-3 as he was the only player on either side to have a multi-hit game. They swiped 3 more bases without getting caught. Brett Phillips (9), James Ramsay (14), and Mayfield (2) were the thieves in this game.
Michael Feliz was just dominating. He threw 5 no-hit innings and walked 1 while striking out 8. Jandel Gustave was victimized by a sac fly in the 6th but allowed nothing else the rest of the way. That run was unearned, by the way. He went 4 innings and allowed both Beloit hits, walked 1, and struck out 4.
The River Bandits will look for the sweep tonight. Edison Frias will take on Lou Trivino at 7:00.

OKC home runs: Gregorio Petit (2, 2-run in 1st)
This game lasted 2 hours and 7 minutes. This was the shortest OKC game since the 2012 season finale: September 3, 2012. The RedHawks topped Round Rock 1-0 that day in 2 hours, 2 minutes.
Well, there you have it. All the offense in this game came off the bat of Gregorio Petit in the 1st inning. That blast would also be the only OKC hit until the 6th, when Ronald Torreyes singled. Max Stassi had the other RedHawks hit, a single in the 7th.
The pitching staff combined on a 4-hitter. Mike Foltynewicz pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. Rhiner Cruz threw 2 scoreless and allowed 2 hits while striking out 3. Chia-Jen Lo struck out 2 over 2 perfect frames, and Josh Zeid finished it with a 1-2-3 9th.
Jake Buchanan will face Ryan Feierabend in game 3 of this series. First pitch is at 7:05. The tandem system in OKC is now in a holding pattern, per Brian McTaggart.
Midland 9, Corpus Christi 8
W- Jesus Castillo (1-0)
L- Jorge De Leon (1-2)
CC home runs: Chris Epps (2, 3-run in 2nd)
The Hooks coughed up a 7-1 lead and wound up walking off with the loss after the RockHounds put up 4 in the bottom of the 9th.
7 of the 8 Corpus runs came in the 2nd inning. Tyler Heineman began the assault with a bases-clearing double. Chris Epps then clubbed a 3-run homer (2), and Matt Duffy added an RBI double. Andrew Aplin went 2-5 with an RBI single in the 9th, but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Matt Duffy and M.P. Cokinos both finished 2-4, and everyone in the lineup scored a run except for Joe Sclafani, who was 0-2 with 3 walks.
Matt Heidenreich allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on a force out and a sac fly, a hit, walked 6, and struck out 2 in 4.2 innings of work. Jordan Jankowski went 1.1 innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Travis Ballew was the only Hooks pitcher with a scoreless outing, as he allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1 over 2 innings. Jorge De Leon blew it.
Game 2 will feature Tommy Shirley as he faces Drew Granier at 11:00 A.M. Is the tandem system also on hold in Corpus?
Lancaster 5, High Desert 3
W- Lance McCullers (1-1)
L- Scott DeCecco (1-2)
S- Jamaine Cotton (3)
Lancaster home runs: Brandon Meredith (5, solo in 8th)
Before the game, a players-only meeting was held. According to Eric Smith, although no one discussed what was said behind closed doors, it seems that the purpose was to let some frustration go. The venting looked like it had a positive effect, as the JetHawks snapped a 3-game losing streak. Lance McCullers rendered the High Desert offense useless, and now they're in a 3-way tie with the Mavericks and Lake Elsinore at the top of the Cal League South division.
The JetHawks struck out 17 batters, which tied a team record set back in 1997, when they were a Mariners affiliate. McCullers tossed 5 shutout innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out a career-high 10. Kyle Smith allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits (solo homer) and struck out 7 in 3.2 innings. Jamaine Cotton got D.J. Peterson to fly out for the final out of the game.
The Lancaster offense finally cracked Scott DeCecco, who had really shackled them in his first 2 appearances. Brandon Meredith went 3-4; he singled to lead off the bottom of the 4th and scored the first run of the night on Dan Gulbransen's double. Gulbransen would score on a Carlos Perdomo sac fly, and Ruben Sosa added an RBI single to wrap up the scoring in the 4th. Perdomo, who went 2-3, scored on a force out that was hit by Jake Rodriguez in the 6th, and Meredith hit a solo shot (5) in the 8th. Rodriguez finished 2-4 with a run scored and was credited with an RBI on his force out in the 6th.
Josh Hader and Chris Devenski will face Dylan Unsworth in game 3 of this series. First pitch is at 6:30 Pacific.
Quad Cities and Clinton was rained out, again
Due to wet grounds. They'll play two doubleheaders; 2 games tonight and 2 games on Thursday. Kent Emanuel (game 1) and Jandel Gustave (game 2) will be the pitchers for tonight. Emanuel will face Eddie Campbell and Gustave is taking on Tommy Burns. First pitch of game 1 will be at 6:00.

New York Yankees 9, Houston Astros 6

W- Chase Whitley (1-2)
L- Jose Cisnero (0-1)
S- Chris Leroux (1)
Astros home runs: Chris Carter (1)
Astros home runs: Chris Carter (1)
After the Astros took a 6-4 lead courtesy of a 3-run homer from Chris Carter in the 5th, the Yankees responded with 5 unanswered (3 in the 6th, 2 in the 7th) to seize control of the game.
Starting Pitcher: Jarred Cosart
Cosart worked around a couple of walks to throw a scoreless 1st inning, striking out 2. In the 2nd, though, he gave up a leadoff single to Dean Anna, and an error on Jose Altuve allowed the Yankees to get on the board. An RBI double from Mason Williams drew the Yankees even in the inning. Cosart left after getting Brett Gardner to ground out for the 2nd out of the inning.
Final line: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R (1 earned), 2 BB, 2 K
Bullpen
Jorge De Leon finished the 2nd by striking out Eduardo Nuñez.
Darin Downs came on for the next 2 innings and gave up a 2-run homer to Kelly Johnson in the 3rd. He threw a scoreless 4th, and walked 2 in his outing.
Chad Qualls struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 5th.
Jose Cisnero got tagged with the loss, as he gave up the Yankees' 3 runs in the 6th. Only one of those runs were earned. He allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and fanned 1.
Jake Buchanan gave up 2 in the 7th on a pop fly single and a fielder's choice. He also struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 8th.
Nick Tropeano allowed a 1-out single, but nothing came of it as he struck out 2 in a scoreless 9th.
Offense
Jason Castro went the other way with a nice 2-run double to open the scoring for the Astros in the 1st.
In the 2nd, Cesar Izturis dropped an RBI single right in between a couple of Yankee outfielders.
And finally, Chris Carter put the Astros in front at that point with this 3-run shot:
It was nice to see Rio Ruiz and Teoscar Hernandez see some action with the big club. They both went 0-1, with Rio drawing a walk and Teoscar scoring a run. Nolan Fontana came on as a pinch-hitter for Izturis in the 9th and doubled.

L- Collin McHugh (0-1)
Astros home runs: None.
Astros home runs: None.
It was not exactly a banner spring training game day as both Astros squads wound up taking losses. This one got away in the middle portions of the game, as the Phillies went on an 11-2 run from the 5th to the 9th.
Starting Pitcher: Dallas Keuchel
Keuchel was excellent, delivering 3 no-hit innings. The only Phillies to reach on him were Chase Utley (via walk in the 1st) and Carlos Ruiz (via error from Matt Dominguez in the 2nd).
Final line: 3 IP, BB, 2 K
Bullpen
Collin McHugh was the first man out, and after a scoreless 4th, the wheels fell off. I'll leave it at that.
Jason Stoffel got the final 2 outs of the 6th, but allowed both of the runners he inherited from McHugh to score, and gave up one of his own.
Luis Cruz got rocked in the 7th; David Martinez had to clean up that mess.
Chia-Jen Lo allowed an unearned run in the 8th; Bobby Doran allowed that run to score, but was able to avoid further damage.
Offense
Robbie Grossman put the Astros on the board first with this exquisite hit-and-run:
Houston managed to tie the game at 3, as Jesse Biddle uncorked a wild one...
...and Gregorio Petit poked a hole through the left side of the Phillies infield.
