On a special Taco Thursday, Fresno dominated Tacoma in all facets of the game and cruised to the win.

David Martinez allowed one run on a solo homer, one other hit, walked 2, and struck out 10 in 7 innings of work. Dayan Diaz allowed a hit and struck out 1 over the final 2 innings.

A.J. Reed opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. The Tacos busted this one wide open with a pair of 4-run innings. They put up 4 in the 2nd thanks to Alejandro Garcia's 2-run double; he and Rico Noel scored on an error on a botched force out attempt.

Drew Ferguson walked to lead off the 3rd inning. He stole 2nd, advanced to 3rd base on a balk, and scored on an error that allowed Garrett Stubbs to reach. Stubbs scored when Tony Kemp grounded into a force out. Carlos Correa hit an RBI single and Kemp scored on an error. Correa drove in the final run of the night with a sac fly in the 5th.

Kemp, Ferguson, Stubbs, Garcia, and Noel all scored twice. Noel went 3-4 with a double, while Reed finished 2-5 on the night.

Lance McCullers makes his first rehab start at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi's doubleheader with Midland was canceled

Due to the threat of Hurricane Harvey. These were supposed to be the last two games between the Hooks and Hounds, so they won't be made up this year.

Corpus is in San Antonio for 4 starting tonight at 7:05 and Josh James is scheduled to take on Enyel De Los Santos. The Missions had a Pat Green post-game concert on the docket, but that's been nixed. The game is still set to go on, but this is most likely going to change.

Lynchburg 5, Buies Creek 1

BC home runs: Jake Rogers (11, 17 season; solo in 2nd)

The Hillcats took control by scoring twice in the 7th and the 8th.

Jake Rogers smacked a homer to start the bottom of the 2nd for the only Buies Creek run of the evening. Randy César finished 2-4.

Hector Perez only allowed one run on a solo homer and one other hit. Unfortunately, he only lasted 3.2 innings because he issued 7 walks and struck out 4. Sean Stutzman was the first man out of the Carolina Stros bullpen and struck out 2 over 1.1 innings. Ryan Hartman tagged in for 3 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 4. Erasmo Pinales struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Matt Bower will start the first game in a 3-game weekend set in Winston-Salem. He'll face A.J. Puckett at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 5, Beloit 2

The Banditos are playoff-bound!

César Rosado allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 over 2.1 scoreless innings. Devon Carr was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and went 3.2 innings, allowing 2 runs, both of which were inherited runners that were charged to him, on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3.

Josh Rojas opened the scoring with a 2-run single in the 3rd inning. Ray Henderson hit an RBI single in the 4th. Daz Cameron and Chas McCormick ripped RBI doubles in the 7th and the 8th, respectively. McCormick went 3-4 at the plate and also had an outfield assist. Cody Bohanek went 2-3 and scored twice.

Quad Cities is back home to start a 4-game series with Cedar Rapids. Nathan Thompson will face Charlie Barnes at 6:35.

Connecticut 2, Tri-City 1

The Tigers got a pair off Ben Smith in the 6th to take the finale of this series.

Leovanny Rodriguez allowed 3 hits and struck out 8 over 5 shutout innings. Smith allowed the 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 in the last 3 innings.

Miguelangel Sierra finished 2-4; he led off the 5th with a triple and scored Tri-City's only run on a Jake Meyers double. Bryan De La Cruz (2B) and Gabriel Bracamonte both finished 2-5.

The ValleyCats will start a 3-game series with Lowell tonight at 7:00 Eastern.

Johnson City 3, Greeneville 2

Greeneville home runs: None.

The Appy Astros scored a run in the 9th to take a 2-1 lead... and then they got stunned at the end with a walk-off homer.

Juan Piñeda went 3-4 with an RBI single in the 8th that put Greeneville on the board. Oscar Campos put them in front in the 9th with a sac fly that turned into an inning-ending double play. Roman Garcia went 2-4 and scored on the sac fly.

Yhoan Acosta and Francisco Villegas pitched 3 scoreless innings apiece; Acosta struck out 4 in a perfect outing, while Villegas allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Maikel Sepulveda allowed a 2-run homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. In 2.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 3.

Jheyson Caraballo faces Franyel Casadilla at 7:00 Eastern.

DSL Athletics 8, DSL Astros Blue 3

Wilyer Abreu scored on an error in the 4th inning. Ronaldo Urdaneta finished 2-4 with a 2-run triple in the 7th inning.

Luis Garcia went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 6. Diosmerky Taveras allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1 in 2 innings, and Oscar Severino allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3 in 3 innings.

DSL Rangers1 8, DSL Astros Orange 6

Orange home runs: None.

Team Orange scored 4 in the 5th to tie the game at 5, but the Rangers regained control.

Fildex Perfecto drove in 3 with a groundout in the 5th and a 2-run triple in the 6th. Gerry Castillo and Sean Mendoza both had 2 hits and an RBI.

Mauricio Santana allowed a run on a triple, walked 2, and struck out 1 in the 1st inning. Miguel Matos allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4 in 4 innings, and Jesús Bernaez allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4 in 3 innings of work.

David Martinez shook off a 2-run homer from Chris Shaw in the 1st to throw 7.1 strong innings. He allowed 3 other hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. Kevin Comer walked 1 and struck out 2 over the final 1.2 innings to get the save.

Tyler White's RBI double in the 4th put Fresno on the board. They got 2 in the 5th on a Teoscar Hernandez sac fly and a Preston Tucker single to take the lead and got a little insurance in the 9th with a Reid Brignac RBI single. Jon Kemmer (2B, 2 R) and Max Stassi (R) both finished 3-4 on the day.

Kyle Smith will take on Andrew Suarez in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

Arkansas 3, Corpus Christi 2 in 12 innings

The Travs walked it off in the 12th to send the Hooks to 0-4 on their second-half tour of Arkansas.

Jack Mayfield smacked a solo shot in the 2nd to put Corpus on the board first. Jason Martin hit an RBI single in the 3rd. Tony Nuñez went 2-2 after coming on as a sub.

Charlie Morton went 4.1 innings and allowed 2 unearned runs (both inherited runners charged to him), a single, walked 2, and struck out 5. Brock Dykxhoorn was the first man out of the bullpen and came into a bases-loaded situation. Two of the runners scored. Dykxhoorn went 2.1 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 1. Yoanys Quiala allowed 3 hits and struck out 3 over 4.1 scoreless. Riley Ferrell got 1 out in the 12th, but allowed the winning run on 2 hits and walked 1.

Cy Sneed gets the start in game 2 of this series and he'll go up against Lindsey Caughel at 7:10.

Buies Creek 3, Potomac 2

Jorge Alcala was excellent once again and the Carolina Stros got a run after stretch time to edge the Nationals.

Alcala only allowed one hit in his 5 innings, a solo homer to Dan Gamache in the 4th. He also walked 2 and struck out 5. Matt Bower allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 3 innings, and Nick Hernandez worked around a couple of hits to close it out, striking out 1.

Buies Creek got 2 in the 1st on a Ryne Birk RBI double and a Jake Rogers RBI single. Rogers ripped a double to lead off the bottom of the 7th and scored what turned out to be the deciding run on a single from Spencer Johnson. Birk (2B, RBI, R), Rogers (2B, RBI, R), and Randy César all had 2 hits on the day.

Justin Ferrell starts the finale against Hector Silvestre. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 4, Burlington 3 in 11 innings

QC home runs: Chuckie Robinson (8, 2-run in 4th)

The Banditos got 5 strong innings out of the bullpen to pick up Cionel Perez. The offense tied this game in the 8th and went ahead in the 11th inning.

Cionel Perez had a bare minimum quality start, allowing 5 hits (3-run homer), walking 2, and striking out 6. He turned in a solid outing despite ending it on a bit of a sour note with the 3-run homer. Kevin Hill struck out 4 over 4 scoreless; he faced one batter over the minimum due to an error. Erasmo Pinales worked around a couple of hits in the 11th to earn the save, striking out 1.

Chuckie Robinson smacked a 2-run homer in the 4th to open the scoring. Daz Cameron hit a 1-out single in the 8th, advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch, and scored the tying run on a Carmen Benedetti single. Josh Rojas finished 2-4 and put Quad Cities in front with a sac fly in the 11th. Daz and Benedetti both finished 2-5 with a double and a run scored.

The River Bandits and the Bees wrap up this series at 6:30. Gabriel Valdez faces Joe Gatto.

Staten Island 2, Tri-City 1

The Baby Bombers edged the ValleyCats with a run in the 8th to break a 1-1 tie.

Tri-City's only scoring play was a solo homer from Abraham Toro in the 1st inning.

Matt Ruppenthal, who was making his pro debut, allowed 2 hits and struck out 3 in 1.1 innings. Ricardo Castro was the first man out of the TC bullpen and the one run he allowed came on a solo homer from Cody Brown in the 5th. Castro allowed one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 6 in 4.2 innings. Diogenes Almengo allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2 innings.

Juan Robles takes on former Astros farmhand Jorge Guzman in the finale. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

From Saturday: Greeneville 6, Kingsport 2

Greeneville home runs: Gilberto Celestino (1, solo in 7th)

The Appy Astros' two 3-run innings topped Kingsport's pair of one-run frames.

Felipe Tejada started on Saturday and allowed 3 hits; one of those hits turned into a run that was charged to him after play resumed. He struck out 1. Leovanny Rodriguez came on to throw 7 innings, allowing a run on 4 hits and walking 1. Austin Kerns worked around a walk and an error to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Greeneville's first 3-run inning was the 5th. Oscar Campos ripped an RBI double, and then Gilberto Celestino scored on a passed ball. Campos moved to 3rd and scored on a Reiny Beltre sac fly. Celestino launched a solo homer and Cody Bohanek ripped a 2-run double in the 7th inning. Celestino and Frankeny Fernandez both finished 2-4.

Greeneville 3, Kingsport 1

L- Ronald Sanchez (0-1)

Greeneville home runs: None.

Greeneville also took the regularly scheduled game, which was a 7-inning contest. They scored a run in more innings than the K-Mets did, so obviously, they won.

Bohanek singled in the 1st and scored the first run of this game on a wild pitch. Wilson Amador doubled to lead off the 3rd and came home on a Brody Westmoreland sac fly, and Roman Garcia ripped an RBI double in the 6th. Adrian Tovalin went 2-3 and scored on Garcia's double.

Tim Hardy allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 over 3 scoreless. Jheyson Caraballo pitched the last 4 innings and allowed an unearned run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1.

Bryan Abreu takes on Jose Geraldo in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

The Marlins jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the 2nd and cruised to the win.

Carlos Diaz's first career hit was an RBI single in the 7th inning. Enmanuel Valdez launched a solo homer in the 8th.

Matt Merrill got the start but failed to record an out, allowing 3 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 3 hits. Ronaldo Marrero took ownership of the 1st and also pitched the 2nd, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, walking 1, and striking out 2. Javier Navas went 3 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Johsson Arias allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 over 2 scoreless, and Chauncey Nuñez allowed a hit in a scoreless 8th.

Fresno 7, Albuquerque 6 in 10 innings

Fresno home runs: Max Stassi (8, 2-run in 5th), Colin Moran (17, solo in 8th)

The Grizzlies couldn't hold a 6-2 lead, but fortunately, they were able to rectify this by literally walking off with the win in the first extra frame.

David Martinez allowed a run on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7 in 6 innings. Ashur Tolliver was the first man out of the Fresno bullpen and got 2 outs in the 7th, allowing a run on a bases-loaded walk and a double. Overall, Tolliver issued 3 walks. Aaron West got him out of his predicament without further incident. He threw 1.1 innings, walking 1 and striking out 2. Jordan Jankowski only got one out in the 9th; he had 3 inherited runners charged to him, walked 1, and allowed 2 hits. Dayan Diaz got the final two outs of the 9th, but not before the Isotopes tied the game off of him with a sac fly, a wild pitch, and a 2-run single. The game-tying 2-run single was the one hit that Diaz allowed; he also walked 1 and struck out 1. Brian Holmes struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 10th.

Albuquerque scored a run in the 5th and the 7th; each time, Fresno responded with 2 runs in the bottom half. Max Stassi put them on the board with a 2-run blast in the 5th, while Tyler White hit an RBI single and Tony Kemp scored on an error that allowed Preston Tucker to reach in the 7th. Colin Moran led off the bottom of the 8th with a homer and Kemp added a sac fly later in the inning. The Grizzlies won via shrimp in the bottom of the 10th as Tyler White drew a bases-loaded walk.

White (2 RBI), Moran (solo HR), Stassi (2-R HR, 4 R), and Alejandro Garcia (2B) all finished with 3 hits on the evening.

It's Tuesday, and it's a Fresno home game, so you know what that means: Taco Tuesday!!!

Charlie Morton will make his second rehab appearance as he continues to work his way back from a lat strain. He'll take on Matt Flemer at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi is off until Thursday


The Texas League All-Star Game will take place tonight in Frisco. The Hooks' contingent consists of Josh James, Rogelio Armenteros, Garrett Stubbs, Jon Singleton, Drew Ferguson, J.D. Davis, and Jack Mayfield. Kyle Smith was also named a Texas League All-Star; he has since been promoted to Fresno.

The Hooks return to action on Thursday and they'll start off the 2nd half with a tour of Arkansas.

Buies Creek 8, Carolina 1

BC home runs: Anibal Sierra (3, solo in 3rd)

Jorge Alcala and Hector Perez made quick work of the Mudcats on Monday. The Carolina Stros really blew it open with 4 in the 6th.

Alcala has had some issues with walks lately, but he turned in a nice outing. According to Patrick Obley of the Fayetteville Observer, Alcala hit 100 on a few occasions before settling into the mid-90s. He allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 over 5 shutout innings. Hector Perez went 4 innings and allowed a run on an infield single, one other hit, walked 3, and struck out 5. Perez faced a bases-loaded, no out situation in the 7th, but emerged with the Mudcats only getting one run against him.

Anibal Sierra opened the scoring with a solo blast in the 3rd inning. Later in the frame, Jake Rogers ripped an RBI double and Yordan Alvarez added a sac fly. Buies Creek got three straight singles to open the 6th, and Alex De Goti scored on an error that also allowed Myles Straw to reach; Straw was credited with an RBI on the play. The bases remained loaded for Ryne Birk, who promptly cleared them with a triple. Birk drove in the last run of the evening with a groundout in the 7th inning.

Sierra finished 3-3 with the homer and scored twice. Straw went 3-5 with a double and scored twice as well. Birk (3B, 4 RBI), Rogers (2B, RBI), and Jones (2 R) all had 2 hits on the night.

Quad Cities 8, Wisconsin 2

The Banditos scored in four of the first five innings and cruised to a win.

Cionel Perez went 4.1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. Abdiel Saldaña was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and threw 3.2 hitless innings, walking 2 and striking out 6. Salvador Montaño struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Wander Franco got things started with a 2-run double in the 2nd inning. Quad Cities got 2 in the 3rd on an RBI single from Daz Cameron and a Troy Sieber RBI double. Ray Henderson hit a sac fly in the 4th and Sieber added an RBI single to his ledger in the 5th inning. The Banditos scored the last 2 runs of the game in the 7th: Chuckie Robinson came home on a balk and Marcos Almonte had an RBI single. Sieber finished 3-4 on the evening, while Almonte was 2-5 with a run scored and a stolen base (9).

Gabriel Valdez gets the start in game 2 of this series. He'll take on Victor Diaz at 12:05.

Tri-City 8, Vermont 5

TC home runs: Connor MacDonald (1, 2-run in 1st), Jake Adams (2, solo in 6th)

Tri-City scored in fewer innings. No matter. They managed to avoid getting swept at home.

Jake Adams opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 1st. Abraham Toro-Hernandez followed with an RBI single, and Connor MacDonald whacked a 2-run shot. The Lake Monsters managed to tie the game with 2 runs in the 5th, but the deadlock didn't last too long as the ValleyCats hit back for 4 in the 6th.

Adams led off the bottom of the 6th with a homer. Carlos Canelon hit a sac fly, then Andy Piñeda hit an RBI single and wound up scoring on a wild pitch. MacDonald (2-4) and Adams (1-2) both homered and drove in 2 runs.

Patrick Sandoval went 4 innings and allowed 4 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Parker Mushinski took ownership of the 5th, walking 2 and striking out 2. Ben Smith struck out the side in order in the 6th inning. Hunter Martin allowed 2 hits, had an inherited runner charged to him, and walked 1 in the 7th; he only got 1 out. Robert Corniel pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 4.

Tri-City has Tuesday off; they'll start a new series in Connecticut with a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Greeneville 4, Bristol 2

Greeneville home runs: Joan Mauricio (1, 2-run in 4th)

Both teams scored 2 runs in an inning. The Appy Astros did it twice to top the Pirates on Monday.

The bottom third of the order drove in all 4 Greeneville runs. In the 2nd, Ruben Castro hit an RBI single and Wilson Amador grounded into a force out that scored Joan Mauricio. Mauricio whacked a 2-run homer in the 4th. Gilberto Celestino finished 3-3 with a walk and scored on Castro's single.

Noel Pinto allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 in his first two innings as a professional baseball player. Bristol got their 2 runs on a homer off Leovanny Rodriguez in the 5th. Rodriguez went 5 innings, allowing 3 other hits and fanning 5. Felipe Tejada allowed a hit, walked 3, and struck out 2 over the final 2 innings to earn the save.

The Appy Astros will look to sweep the series at 7:00 Eastern.

The GCL Astros won their first game in their new digs.

Juan Piñeda scored the first run of the day on an error following a Jose Benjamin single in the 1st inning. Vicente Sanchez smacked a 2-run homer in the 4th and Bernardo Heras added another run by scoring on a wild pitch.

Enmanuel Valdez doubled to lead off the 5th and scored on a Carlos Machado triple. Machado came home on a sac fly from Hector Martinez. In the 7th, Piñeda hit an RBI single and Valdez drew a bases-loaded walk. Piñeda finished 3-6 and capped off the afternoon with a 2-run single in the 8th. Sanchez (2-R HR, 3 R), Benjamin, and Heras all finished with 2-hit games.

Maikel Sepulveda went 1.2 innings and allowed 2 runs (both on a 2-run homer) 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Juan Corniel allowed a run on a solo homer, 5 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Francisco Villegas allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 2 in 3 innings of work.

Nivaldo Rodriguez allowed 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4 over 5 shutout innings. The Red Sox spoiled the shutout when Rafael Rincones homered off Fredis Guerrero in the 9th. That was the only hit that Guerrero allowed in his 4 innings, and he also struck out 3.

Team Blue got 2 runs in the 3rd on RBI singles from Anthony Rodriguez and Nerio Rodriguez. Ronaldo Urdaneta hit an RBI single in the 8th, and Rhandall Sanchez landed the knockout blow with a bases-clearing double. Sanchez scored the Blue team's last run on a single from Luis Coronel. Sanchez (2B, 3 RBI, R) and Yorbin Ceuta (2 R) both finished with 2 hits on the day.

The Dodgers 2 got 3 runs in the 8th to create some separation between them and Team Orange.

Luis Barajas put the Orange team on the board with a sac fly in the 2nd inning. Jose Carrillo hit an RBI single in the 3rd, and Renaigel Martis scored on an error following a Fildex Perfecto groundout in the 5th. In the 7th, Martis ripped a double, advanced to 3rd on the ensuing error, and stole home. He and Freudis Nova both finished 2-3.

Christian Mejias allowed 2 unearned runs, 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6 in 4 innings. Jose Alberto Rivera was the first man out of the bullpen and went 1.1 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned, 2 inherited runners charged to him), a hit, walking 2, and striking out 3. Ronny Garcia went 2 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 2 hits, walking 3, and striking out 2. Fredy Medina struck out 2 in 1.2 innings.

The Grizzlies stormed out to a 10-2 lead after 5 innings and cruised to a victory on Monday.

Colin Moran got things started with a 2-run single in the 1st inning. A.J. Reed added a sac fly later in the inning. Tyler White saw his 11-game hitting streak come to an end on Sunday, but he wasted little time getting back on track with another multi-hit game. White launched a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning. Moran struck again in the 4th with a 3-run blast, and Max Stassi smacked a 2-run homer in the 5th.

White (2-R HR, 3 R), Preston Tucker (2B, 2 R), Moran (3-R HR, 5 RBI), and Teoscar Hernandez (R) all finished with 2 hits on the evening. Tony Kemp finished 4-5 with a stolen base (12) and scored twice.

The 2 runs that David Martinez allowed in his 6 innings of work came on a homer hit by Carlos Asuaje in the 2nd inning. Martinez allowed 5 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Brian Holmes pitched the last 3 innings, struck out 2, and the two hits he allowed were solo homers to Jabari Blash and Ryan Schimpf.

Kyle Smith makes his second AAA start at 7:05 as the Grizzlies assume their Tacos alter ego in the series finale.

Yoanys Quiala had a solid Texas League debut and emerged as the winner.

Quiala went 6 innings and the only blemish on an otherwise fine night was a 2-run homer hit by Jose Rondon in the 6th. He also allowed 3 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. Ryan Thompson allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2 innings, and Andrew Thome struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th to earn the save.

Kyle Tucker opened the scoring with a solo shot in the 1st inning. Jason Martin went 2-4 and drove in the other 2 Corpus runs with a 3rd-inning RBI single and a solo blast in the 5th.

The Hooks and Missions continue their series at 7:05 as Josh James faces Brett Kennedy.

Buies Creek is off until Thursday

The Carolina League All-Star Game will take place at 7:05 Eastern in Salem, Virginia. Buies Creek will begin the second half with 4 games in Winston-Salem on Thursday.

The Carolina Stros will be represented by Nick Hernandez, Franklin Perez, and Myles Straw. Yoanys Quiala was also selected to the South Division All-Star team, but he was just promoted to Corpus Christi.

Quad Cities is off until Thursday

The Midwest League All-Star Game will take place at Dow Diamond in Midland, Michigan, home of the Great Lakes Loons. The River Bandits will be represented by Yordan Alvarez, Enoli Paredes (who is currently on the DL), Carson LaRue, Chuckie Robinson, and Marcos Almonte. First pitch is at 7:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities kicks off the second half of their season with a 4-game series against Cedar Rapids beginning on Thursday.

Tri-City and Connecticut was postponed

Due to rain. This game will be made up on June 28 as part of a doubleheader.

New York-Penn League Opening Day, take two. The ValleyCats and Tigers will try again at 7:05 Eastern.

DSL Astros Blue 4, DSL Athletics 3 in 11 innings

The A's tied the game with a pair in the 8th, but the Blue team got the last word in with a run in the top of the 11th and escaped two bases-loaded jams in both extra frames to come away with the win.

Leonardo Rodriguez and Anthony Rodriguez both scored on an error in the 5th that allowed Yeuris Ramirez to reach. Yorbin Ceuta hit an RBI single in the 6th.

The complex leagues are experimenting with international rules in extra innings, which means that each team has a runner at 2nd base to start each extra inning. Kendy Moya was put on 2nd to start the 11th and he ended up scoring the decisive run on a wild pitch. Ronaldo Urdaneta finished 3-5 with 2 stolen bases (6) and scored a run.

Fabricio Reina went 4 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Renny Ugarte was the first man out of the Blue team bullpen and threw 3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out 2. Yeremi Ceballos allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in the 8th, and Christopher Javier walked 3 (2 intentionally) and struck out 1 over 3 scoreless.

Both of Javier's free passes came in the 10th and loaded the bases. He kept the game tied. Intentionally loading the bases isn't a very sane thing to do... but it worked out for the Blue team. Javier had to work out of another bases-loaded predicament in the 11th despite getting two outs; a batter reached on a fielder's choice and then he plunked the next two guys. Again though, he found an escape and got that last out.

DSL Rangers1 14, DSL Astros Orange 10 in 10 innings

Orange home runs: None.

The Rangers 1 got 4 in the 7th to tie and busted this one open with 6 in the first extra frame.

Jose Alvarez singled with one out in the 3rd inning. He advanced to 3rd on a couple of wild pitches and scored the first run of the day on a misfired pickoff throw. Renaigel Martis, who was at the plate while all of that unfolded, ended up walking. He then stole 2nd when Deury Carrasco struck out on what was ruled to be a wild pitch and scored on the errant throw down to 2nd. Carrasco advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, and Freudis Nova drew a walk. They both scored on a Ramiro Rodriguez triple, and Jose Carrillo brought Rodriguez home with a sac fly.

In the 5th, Carrillo added an RBI double to his ledger and scored on an error that allowed Euclides Chavez to reach and advance to 3rd. Martis hit an infield single in the 6th and Jeury Castillo scored on the ensuing error. Alvarez finished 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Both of Carrillo's hits were doubles.

Cristofer Melendez allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 in 4 innings. Mauricio Santana pitched 2+ innings and had an inherited runner charged to him. He allowed a hit, walked 4, and struck out 3. Jervic Chavez went 2 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits and walked 1. Fredy Medina pitched 1.2 innings and was charged with all 6 Rangers runs (1 inherited runner also charged to him) in the 10th; all them were unearned. He allowed 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. Ronny Garcia issued a bases-loaded walk to the first man he faced, but struck out Rougned Odor for the final out of the 10th.

David Martinez had a fine outing and D.J. Fisher continues his mastery of PCL pitching.

Martinez allowed an unearned run on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 7 innings of work. The only hit that Brian Holmes allowed in the 8th was a solo homer to Ryder Jones. Holmes also struck out 2 in the inning. Aaron West struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Alejandro Garcia doubled to lead off the 3rd and scored Fresno's first run on a Tyler White groundout. The Grizzlies capitalized on a bases-loaded, no out situation to start the 5th and seized control of the game by scoring 4 runs in the inning. Tony Kemp hit an RBI single, then White followed with a sac fly, which prompted a Sacramento pitching change. Preston Tucker greeted the new pitcher with an RBI single, and Kemp wound up scoring when D.J. Fisher beat a double play attempt. Max Stassi smacked a homer to lead off the 6th, and finally, in the 8th inning, Garcia scored when Tucker grounded into a force play and Fisher capped it off with a 2-run shot.

Stassi reached in all 5 of his plate appearances, going 2-2 with 3 walks. White (2B, 2 RBI) and Fisher (2-R HR, 3 RBI) both went 2-4, and Garcia finished 3-4 with a double and 3 runs scored.

The next stop on Fresno's season-long roadtrip is El Paso. Dean Deetz takes on Zach Lee in game 1, which starts at 7:05 Mountain.

Corpus Christi 11, Frisco 6

The Hooks scored in fewer innings on Thursday, but they put up more runs in the innings which they scored.

Trent Woodward singled to lead off the 2nd, advanced to 3rd when Jack Mayfield hit into a double play attempt that Frisco botched, and scored Corpus Christi's first run on a wild pitch. Mayfield advanced to 3rd on a Jason Martin single. Martin then stole 2nd, and Jamie Ritchie hit a 2-run single to put the Hooks in front.

The Roughriders responded with 3 of their own in the top of the 4th to regain the lead, but Corpus responded with 5 in the bottom of the frame. Kyle Tucker drew a bases-loaded walk and J.D. Davis landed a haymaker when he launched a grand slam. Davis led off the bottom of the 7th with a solo blast and Martin capped off the scoring with a 2-run homer.

Davis (2 HR, 5 RBI), Martin (2-R HR, 2 R, SB), Ritchie (2 RBI), and Tony Nuñez (R) all finished with 2 hits on the evening.

Cy Sneed went 4.1 innings and allowed 6 runs on 8 hits (2 solos and a 3-run homer), walked 1, and struck out 4. The bullpen picked him up with 4.2 scoreless to close out the game. Jacob Dorris allowed a hit, but he got the final two outs of the 5th and spared Sneed from further damage. Brock Dykxhoorn allowed 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7 in 3.1 innings, and Ryan Thompson allowed a single to the first man he faced in the 9th, which loaded the bases, but he got the final two outs of the game without further incident.

Framber Valdez makes his Texas League debut tonight at 7:05. He'll go up against Yohander Mendez.

Wilmington 4, Buies Creek 3 in 15 innings

The Blue Rocks got a run in the bottom of the 9th to tie, and it took a while, but they also walked off with the win in the 15th.

Jake Rogers put Buies Creek on the board with a sac fly in the 6th and Myles Straw ripped a 2-run triple in the 7th. The two of them went 2-6 on the evening. Spencer Johnson and Pat Porter both had 3 hits and scored a run. Buies Creek left the bases loaded in the top of the 15th.

Walks doomed Jorge Alcala, who otherwise pitched well in his 4 innings. He allowed 2 runs (1 earned) and just 1 hit, but he also issued 6 walks while striking out 4. Sebastian Kessay was the first man out of the Carolina Stros' bullpen and threw a 1-2-3 5th inning. Yoanys Quiala tagged in for 4 innings and allowed the tying run (which was unearned) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Nick Hernandez allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and fanned 2 over 3 scoreless. Howie Brey pitched 2.1 innings and allowed the winning run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1.

Framber Valdez was originally scheduled to start tonight's game... but he's in Corpus now. His replacement will face A.J. Puckett at 7:05 Eastern.

Wisconsin 8, Quad Cities 3

The Banditos were foiled in their bid to sweep the series as the Timber Rattlers rattled off 7 of their 8 runs in a 4-inning span.

Dustin Hunt pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits (2 solo homers), walked 2, and struck out 1. Kevin Hill was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. Lucas Williams came on and pitched the final 2.2 innings following a 56-minute rain delay, allowing an unearned run on a wild pitch strikeout/error, a single, walked 1, and struck out 4.

Jonathan Arauz put Quad Cities on the board with an RBI triple in the 3rd and trotted home on a Daz Cameron double. Marcos Almonte drove in the River Bandits' other run with an RBI single in the 4th. Almonte, Ray Henderson, and Arauz all went 2-4 on the evening.

Quad Cities wraps up its tour of Wisconsin with 3 games in Beloit. First pitch is at 7:00.

Ozziel Sanchez-Galan opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the 1st and came home on a Ronny Rafael groundout. Yorbin Ceuta scored on a wild pitch in the 6th.

Rafael doubled to lead off the 8th and scored on an Anthony Rodriguez double. Rhandall Sanchez chipped in with an RBI single, and Yeuris Ramirez ripped an RBI double. Kendy Moya capped off the day with a 2-run triple. Rodriguez went 2-4 and was the only player on either side with a multi-hit game.

Nivaldo Rodriguez went 4 innings and allowed 2 unearned runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Gustavo Almonte worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 5th, striking out 1. Fredis Guerrero walked 1 and fanned 5 over 4 scoreless to get the win.

Medina got the final out, but not before allowing a hit and walking 2. Jose Alberto Rivera allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 3 innings.

The Grizzlies walked off with the win thanks to Preston Tucker's 2-out RBI single in the bottom of the 9th. D.J. Fisher went 2-4 and drove in the other two Fresno runs with an RBI double in the 6th and an RBI single in the 7th. Fisher now has a 9-game hitting streak.

David Martinez turned in 6.2 solid innings, allowing a run (which was an inherited runner that was charged to him) on 4 hits, walking 2, and striking out 2. Brendan McCurry got the final out of the 7th and the first out of the 8th. He allowed an unearned run on 2 hits and struck out 1. Dayan Diaz retired all 5 Tacoma hitters he faced, getting 4 groundball outs and a flyout.

Dean Deetz makes his AAA debut in the series finale. He'll take on Andrew Moore at 1:05 Pacific.

The Hooks didn't have much luck against Walker Buehler in Corpus last Sunday. They didn't fare much better on Saturday, getting only two hits off him. However, those two hits were home runs. Neither team put up a crooked number in this game, so the Hooks won in the simplest way possible: by scoring a run in more innings than the Drillers did.

Drew Ferguson got Buehler to lead off the ballgame, and J.D. Davis took him deep to begin the 4th. Ferguson added an RBI single to his ledger in the 7th. Jack Mayfield hit an RBI single in the 8th, and Kyle Tucker ripped an RBI double in the 9th. Davis finished 3-5 with the solo homer and scored on Mayfield's single. Ferguson's two hits both drove in runs.

Kyle Smith was perfect through 5 innings, striking out 4. Akeem Bostick tagged in for 3 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 1. Jacob Dorris worked around a single and a walk to close it out, striking out 2 in the 9th.

The Carolina Stros fought back to earn a series split after dropping the first two games.

Framber Valdez went 4.1 innings and allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. Justin Ferrell was the first man out of the Buies Creek bullpen and threw 3.2 innings, allowing a run on 2 hits, walking 4, and striking out 2. Sebastian Kessay allowed an unearned run on a groundout, a single, and struck out 1 in the 9th.

Jake Rogers put Buies Creek on the board first with an RBI single in the 1st. He then stole 2nd and scored on Alex De Goti's double. Spencer Johnson tripled to lead off the bottom of the 2nd and scored on a single from Myles Straw. Anibal Sierra smacked a solo homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the 4th inning. De Goti added a sac fly to his ledger in the 5th, and Ryne Birk hit a 2-run single in the 6th. Straw finished 3-5 on the evening, while Birk went 2-4. Johnson and Sierra scored two runs apiece from the bottom two spots in the lineup.

The Astros welcome Myrtle Beach to Jim Perry Stadium for a 3-game set starting at 4:00 Eastern. Franklin Perez will go up against Justin Steele.

Kane County 5, Quad Cities 2

QC home runs: Osvaldo Duarte (4, solo in 3rd)

The Banditos were the first team this season to record more than 5 hits against Kane County starter Jon Duplantier, who has mowed down the Midwest League this season. However, they only got two runs to show for it.

Osvaldo Duarte launched a solo homer in the 3rd to put Quad Cities on the board. Daz Cameron scored their only other run on a wild pitch in the 7th. Yordan Alvarez and Chuckie Robinson had 2 hits apiece; Alvarez extended his hitting streak to 9 games.

Cionel Perez went 5.2 innings and allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Abdiel Saldaña allowed a hit and fanned 2 in 2.1 scoreless innings, and Kevin Hill worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Quad Cities and Kane County will wrap up their series at 5:15 as Forrest Whitley faces Emilio Vargas.

DSL Braves 8, DSL Astros Blue 5

Blue home runs: None.

The Braves seized control with 7 runs in the 2nd inning. The Blue team managed to fight back, but that deficit proved to be too much to overcome.

Ozziel Sanchez-Galan hit a one-out triple in the 6th and scored the Blue team's first run of the season on a single from César Cortez. In the 7th, Yorbin Ceuta reached on an error that resulted in Anthony Rodriguez coming in to score; Ceuta was credited with an RBI on the play. Rodriguez scored again in the 9th when Ceuta grounded into a double play. Brandon Benavente scored on another Braves error and Cortez drew a bases-loaded walk. Sanchez-Galan went 2-4 and scored twice.

Angel Macuare went 2 innings and allowed 7 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits and struck out 3. Fabricio Reina was the first man out of the Blue team's bullpen and struck out 3 over 2 scoreless innings. Antonio Pujols allowed a run on a wild pitch, a single, and walked 2 in 3 innings. Jean Reyes worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 8th.

DSL Astros Orange 5, DSL Indians/Brewers 3

Orange home runs: None.

The Orange team scored 4 of their 5 runs in the final 2 innings to come out on top.

Diosward Gonzalez went 4 innings and allowed an unearned run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. Carlos Perdomo tagged in for 3 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, walking 4, and striking out 6. Angel Ortega allowed a hit and walked 1 over 2 scoreless.

Deury Carrasco walked to lead off the bottom of the 1st and scored on Samir Caraballo's triple. This was their only scoring play until the 7th; in the meantime, the Brewdians took a 3-1 lead.

Euclides Chavez doubled to lead off the 7th, advanced to 3rd on a Jose Alvarez groundout, and scored on a Gerry Castillo groundout. Team Orange took the lead with 3 in the 8th. Caraballo walked to begin the frame, and Ramiro Rodriguez joined him on the bases with a single. They both advanced when Leandro Gonzalez laid down a sac bunt, and Caraballo scored the tying run on a sac fly from Chavez. Rodriguez scored the go-ahead run on an errant pickoff throw, and Castillo capped off the morning with an RBI single. Chavez finished 2-3, as did Sean Mendoza.

Sunday is an off day for the entire DSL.
