Fresno home runs: A.J. Reed (6, solo in 5th), D.J. Fisher (11, 2-run in 6th), Max Stassi (3, 2-run in 7th), Preston Tucker (8, 2-run in 8th)

There was no scoring in the first four innings, but the Grizzlies changed that in a hurry when they homered in each of the next four frames. On the mound, three pitchers combined to throw a four-hit shutout.

David Martinez started it off with 7 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 4, and striking out 8. Kevin Comer and Tyson Perez both threw an inning to complete the shutout. Comer walked 1 and struck out 1 in the 8th, and Perez worked around a couple of hits in the 9th to finish off the game.

A.J. Reed broke a 0-0 tie in the 5th with a solo home run. D.J. Fisher smacked a 2-run homer in the 6th, and Max Stassi and Preston Tucker followed suit in the 7th and the 8th, respectively. Fisher finished 2-4 and also hit a double. Reed scored twice.

The Grizzlies and Isotopes will continue their series at 4:05 Pacific as David Paulino takes on Barry Enright.

Tulsa 3, Corpus Christi 1

Well, I ended up watching a loss in my first minor league baseball game. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, though.

Corpus was foiled in their bid to sweep the series, but they ended up taking 2 of 3 from Springfield and the Drillers on this homestand. This was a night dominated by the pitchers; both staffs combined to strike out 28 while the Drillers issued the only two walks of the evening.

The Hooks were held in check by Tulsa's pitchers and yet... they still weren't totally out of it. Unfortunately, they squandered a bases-loaded, no out situation in the 8th. Drew Ferguson just missed getting a game-tying 2-run double; the ball was just foul down the left-field line. He eventually got plunked to load 'em up. Alejandro Garcia singled in the 9th to bring the tying run up to the plate, but again, nothing came of that.

Jack Mayfield launched a solo homer in the 5th for the only Corpus run. Ferguson's double to lead off the 6th was their only other extra-base hit.

Dean Deetz went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 9. Sean Stutzman and Riley Ferrell combined to throw 4 scoreless out of the bullpen; Stutzman allowed 3 hits and fanned 4 over 2.2 innings, while Ferrell threw 1.1 perfect innings, striking out 2.

The Hooks have Memorial Day off. They'll begin a 3-game series in Springfield on Tuesday.

Buies Creek 4, Frederick 0

W- Hector Perez (3-2, 4-3 season)
L- Reid Love (1-1)

BC home runs: None.

After issuing 9 walks in his first three Carolina League appearances (9.2 IP), Hector Perez has issued just one in his next three, spanning 17.2 innings. On Sunday, he and Carlos Sierra combined on a 2-hit shutout. With this win, the Astros organization also went 2-0 against the Orioles on Sunday.

Perez allowed just one hit and struck out 9 in 6.2 innings. Sierra finished it off by allowing a hit and striking out 1 over the final 2.1 innings. The 9 strikeouts tie a career-high for Perez; he also struck out 9 for Quad Cities on August 13 last year.

Anibal Sierra opened the scoring with a 2-run single in the 5th inning. Pat Porter, who scored one of those runs, added an RBI single in the 6th, and Ryne Birk ripped an RBI double in the 7th for Buies Creek's final run. Birk finished 3-5 on the evening, while Porter and Jake Rogers had two hits apiece.

Franklin Perez will start the series finale and he'll face Cristian Alvarado. First pitch is at 2:00 Eastern.

Beloit 7, Quad Cities 5

The Banditos fought back to try and erase a 7-2 deficit but couldn't complete the task. The Snappers got to Quad Cities' pitching staff for 3 homers on Sunday.

Cionel Perez went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 7. Salvador Montaño allowed a walk and one hit in the 6th, but that one hit was a 2-run homer to Miguel Mercedes that put Beloit in front. Gabriel Valdez pitched the final 3 innings and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits (solo homer), walked 1, and struck out 2.

Daz Cameron singled to lead off the bottom of the 1st, advanced to 3rd on an Alex De Goti single, and scored the first run of the game on a single from Marcos Almonte. De Goti moved to 3rd on a double play and then stole home. Unfortunately, Quad Cities was held off the scoreboard until the 7th, when Chuckie Robinson ripped a 2-run double. Osvaldo Duarte hit an RBI single in the 8th. Almonte and Robinson finished with 2 hits apiece.

Forrest Whitley will start the finale and he'll take on Matt Milburn at 5:15.

Fresno home runs: Preston Tucker (6, solo in 8th)

The Grizzlies were done in by a couple of big innings from the Sky Sox offense and a lackluster offensive showing on their end.

Fresno didn't get on the board until the 8th when Jon Kemmer hit a sac fly and Preston Tucker launched a solo homer. Jack Mayfield finished 3-4 with a couple of doubles; he led off the 8th with one and scored on Kemmer's sac fly and drove in a run with the second double in the 9th inning. D.J. Fisher singled to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. Reid Brignac finished 2-4.

Edison Frias and Brian Holmes both pitched 4 innings with dramatically different results. Frias allowed 7 runs on 9 hits (2 solos and a 2-run homer), walked 3, and struck out 3. On the other hand, Holmes allowed a hit, walked 2, struck out 5, and kept Colorado Springs off the scoreboard.

Francis Martes returns after getting his last start skipped. He'll face Josh Hader at 6:40 Mountain.

San Antonio 7, Corpus Christi 1

CC home runs: None.

The Hooks dropped their sixth straight to fall to .500. They were in this same situation last year and managed to right the ship and win the first half.

Mott Hyde opened the scoring with an RBI infield single in the 2nd. Unfortunately, that was Corpus Christi's only scoring play of the afternoon.

Josh James went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. Riley Ferrell was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1 in the 5th. Michael Freeman pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Jacob Dorris struck out 3 over 1.2 perfect innings.

The series continues at 7:05 as Rogelio Armenteros faces Barry Enright.

Buies Creek 12, Myrtle Beach 6

Sunday Funday for Buies Creek as they lit up Myrtle Beach's pitchers to the tune of seven home runs. All 12 of their runs scored on those big flies.

Jason Martin wasted little time in getting things started as he sent one out to start the game. Later in the 1st, Anibal Sierra whacked a 3-run homer. Martin launched a 3-run homer in the 2nd to give him two in as many innings. Kyle Tucker followed by cranking a solo shot later in the frame. Martin led off the 4th inning with his 3rd homer of the day, his second solo blast. Little Tuck turned in a second consecutive multi-homer game when he smacked a 2-run homer in the 6th. Pat Porter followed up that dinger by clubbing a solo homer. Porter and Martin both finished with 3 hits on the day. Tucker and Dex McCall both finished 2-4 at the plate.

Matt Bower allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 5 innings. Ryan Deemes and Nick Hernandez pitched 2 innings apiece out of the bullpen. Deemes allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and fanned 4, while Hernandez struck out one over a pair of spotless frames.

Buies Creek has Monday off. They'll return to action on Tuesday to start a 3-game series with the Salem Red Sox. Framber Valdez will face Dedgar Jimenez at 7:00 Eastern.

Lake County 3, Quad Cities 1

The Banditos' bats were silenced in the series finale. Both teams scored a run in the 5th inning, but the Captains quickly broke the tie with a couple of runs in the 6th.

Taylor Jones' sac fly in the 5th was Quad Cities' only scoring play. Stephen Wrenn, who scored that run, went 2-3 with a double.

Ryan Hartman went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. Lucas Williams didn't allow any runs that were charged to him in his 3 innings of work, but he allowed the two runners he inherited from Hartman to score in the 6th. Williams also allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. Kevin Hill worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 2.

The River Bandits will be on the road this week to take on a couple of Eastern Division clubs. Their first stop is Bowling Green, Kentucky, where they'll begin a 3-game set with the Hot Rods at 6:35. Enoli Paredes will start game 1.

The rain just seems to find the Fresno Grizzlies. Luckily, they were able to get this game in.

Fresno 6, Salt Lake 0

Fresno home runs: Danny Worth (2, grand slam in 4th)

A 2-hour rain delay pushed back the first pitch of this one, but the Grizzlies weren't fazed; they got a big inning on offense, and 5 pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

Tommy Shirley started it off with 5 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 1, and striking out 4. Edwar Cabrera, Jordan Jankowski, Jandel Gustave, and James Hoyt all threw scoreless innings to finish it off. Cabrera struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 6th, Jankowski worked around 2 hits in the 7th, Gustave had a 1-2-3 8th, getting 2 groundouts and a flyout, and Hoyt allowed a hit, but he finished it off without any complications.

Jon Kemmer drove in the first run of the night with an RBI single in the 2nd. The Grizz put up 5 in the 4th as Tony Kemp drew a bases-loaded walk, and one batter later, Danny Worth cleared them with a grand slam. Worth finished 2-5, while Nolan Fontana scored 2 runs.

Michael Feliz takes the mound in the series finale. First pitch is at 6:35 Mountain.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will kick off a 3-game series in Tulsa tonight at 7:05. Joe Musgrove will face Chris Anderson.

Stockton 4, Lancaster 3

The JetHawks' bid to sweep the series was foiled as they walked off with a loss in the finale.

Scott Weathersby shined in his season debut, scattering 4 hits and fanning 5 over 6 shutout innings. Unfortunately, he had to settle for a no-decision. Ryan Thompson was the first man out of the JetHawks bullpen, and he allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and walked 2 while getting 2 outs in the 6th. Kevin Comer walked 2 and struck out 2 over 1.1 scoreless. Angel Heredia allowed the game-winning hit, which was a 2-run double with 2 outs in the 9th; the runs were unearned, and he walked 2 in the inning.

Nick Tanielu opened the scoring in the 2nd when he came home on an error that allowed Jose Fernandez to reach. In the 3rd inning, Bobby Boyd singled, stole his way to 3rd, and scored on a Jason Martin triple. Boyd, who finished 2-5 with the 2 steals, hit into a fielder's choice in the 5th that drove in Alejandro Garcia. Drew Ferguson was 2-4 with a double and a stolen base (3).

Tonight, Lancaster opens up the home portion of its schedule as they begin a 4-game series with High Desert. Elieser Hernandez will start the opener, and he will face Ariel Jurado at 6:35 Pacific.

Quad Cities 5, Peoria 3

The Banditos took their first series of the year thanks to a 3-run 8th that put them in the lead.

Aaron Mizell scored Quad Cities' first run on a wild pitch in the 3rd, which tied the game at 1. The Chiefs got 1 in the 6th to take the lead, but Pat Porter came home on another wild pitch in the 7th to bring the Bandits back even. The tie would be short-lived however, as Peoria got 1 in the bottom half to re-take the lead. It didn't matter to the Banditos, though, because Porter came through with a 2-run triple in the 8th, and he wound up scoring himself thanks to an error.

Rogelio Armenteros went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 2 hits and struck out 6. Ralph Garza Jr. allowed a run of his own on 2 hits and walked 1 in 1.2 innings, and Andrew Thome got a 5-out save, striking out 1.

After that brief roadtrip, the River Bandits will return home to open a 4-game set against Kane County. In game 1, Albert Abreu will take on Alex Young. First pitch is at 7.
