The E-Train started off with a bang and then had to stave off a late rally to get the win on Sunday.

Brandon Bielak turned in a bare minimum quality start, allowing seven hits (two-run homer) and walking four. Kit Scheetz was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and he allowed a solo homer, walked one, and struck out two in two innings. Felipe Paulino allowed two hits, one of which was a two-run homer, and struck out one in the 9th.

Kyle Tucker put the Express on the board with a grand slam in the 1st inning. A.J. Reed hit an RBI single in the 4th and then homered to lead off the 7th inning. Alex De Goti added an RBI single later in the 7th. Reed finished 3-4 on the night.

Framber Valdez will face Zach Lovvorn in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Amarillo 11, Corpus Christi 6

The Hooks scored first, but the Sod Poodles went off and buried them with five in the 4th to take a 9-2 lead.

Carson LaRue was roughed up in his 3.2 innings and I'll leave it at that. Carlos Sanabria got the final out of the 4th and two outs in the 5th, all via strikeout; he allowed two runs (one earned), a hit, and walked three in the process. Colin McKee walked one and struck out one in 1.1 innings, and Riley Ferrell allowed a hit and struck out two over two scoreless. Ferrell was making his first appearance since being returned to the organization from the Marlins, who selected him in the Rule 5 draft in the offseason.

Bryan de la Cruz led off the game with a homer and Ronnie Dawson scored on a wild pitch later in the 1st. Osvaldo Duarte led off the 5th with a homer and Abraham Toro launched a solo shot in the 7th. De La Cruz went 3-5 on the evening and also smacked a two-run double in the 8th.

The Hooks will start a three-game series in Frisco at 7:05. Brandon Bailey will face Edgar Arredondo.

Fayetteville 8, Myrtle Beach 4

Fayetteville home runs: Jonathan Arauz (6, solo in 2nd), Jake Adams (12, grand slam in 7th)

One swing of the bat swung the momentum of this game in Fayetteville's favor.

J.P. France went five innings and allowed two hits, one of which was a solo homer, walked one, and struck out four. Jojanse Torres and Jacob Billingsley pitched two innings apiece with varying results. Torres didn't have his best stuff as he allowed three runs on three hits (two-run homer) and walked three. Billingsley struck out three in a perfect outing to earn the save.

The Woodpeckers got on the board first in the 1st thanks to a pair of sac flies from Corey Julks and Jake Adams. Jonathan Arauz led off the 2nd with a homer.

Chandler Taylor thought that he had a grand slam in the 5th and apparently the ball looked to have landed in fair territory, but it was ruled foul, he struck out, he wasn't happy, and his night ended early after he was... ordered to leave the game.

Fayetteville got their slam in the 7th when Adams sent one out onto the berm in left field. Scott Manea capped off the evening with a sac fly in the 8th.

Miguelangel Sierra and Jeremy Peña finished with two hits apiece on the evening.

The Woodpeckers will start a three-game series in Salem at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities and Clinton was suspended

Due to rain. Currently, it's a 0-0 ballgame with two outs in the bottom of the 7th.

Brett Daniels allowed three hits, walked five, and struck out seven over 5.2 shutout innings. Layne Henderson got the final out of the 6th with a groundball and then struck out the first two men he faced in the 7th.

Alex McKenna's single is currently Quad Cities' only hit in this game.

This game will be completed today at 5:00 and then the regularly scheduled game, which will last nine innings, will follow. Matt Ruppenthal was originally slated to face Albert Guerrero in the regularly scheduled game.

Tri-City 5, Aberdeen 3

The ValleyCats pounded out a season-high 14 hits to take the series.

Grae Kessinger opened the scoring with an RBI double in the 3rd and he came around to score on Zach Biermann's double. Aberdeen took the lead with a two-run double in the top of the 5th but Tri-City took control with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th on an Andrés Santana RBI infield single and a double from Kessinger. Luis Santana singled in the 6th and an error on the play allowed A.J. Lee to score. A.J. Lee finished 3-3, stealing a base and scoring three times. Luis Santana went 3-4, while Andrés Santana and Kessinger had two hits apiece.

Cole McDonald, Manny Ramirez, Hansel Paulino all pitched two innings. McDonald, in his Tri-City debut, allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out three. Ramirez allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits, walked three, and struck out two. Paulino struck out four in a perfect outing, and Julio Robaina allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out four over the final three innings to earn the save.

Jayson Schroeder will start the first of a three-game series in Staten Island. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Walk-offs! Great pitching! Dominican Summer League Opening Day!

Round Rock 2, Iowa 1 (10 innings)

The Express tied this game in the 8th and walked off with the win in the first extra frame.

José Urquidy went 5.1 innings and allowed a run on two hits, walked four, and struck out five. Humberto Castellanos jumped right into the fray after getting summoned from Quad Cities. He allowed a hit and struck out two in 3.2 innings as the first man out of the E-Train bullpen. Reymin Guduan struck out two in a 1-2-3 10th and eventually earned the victory.

Well, it took Round Rock eight innings before they could push a run across, but hey, better late than never. A.J. Reed led off the bottom of the 8th with a homer to tie the game at 1. Reed started the 10th in scoring position and he wound up scoring the winning run on Lorenzo Quintana's base hit.

Both teams will transform into their Copa de la Diversión identities to wrap up the series. The Round Rock Chupacabras will face the Demonios de Des Moines at 1:05. Cy Sneed will face Colin Rea.

Corpus Christi and Frisco was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for Sunday with game one starting at 3:30. Bryan Abreu will face Tyler Phillips in game one. Game two is scheduled to start at 6:05; Cristian Javier takes on Joe Palumbo.

Fayetteville 2, Wilmington 1

Fayetteville home runs: Scott Schreiber (2, 5 season; walk-off solo in 9th)

The Woodpeckers scored the first run of the game in the 1st and walked off with the victory by scoring the last run of the game in the 9th. After finding themselves on the losing end of an inordinate amount of walk-offs, they finally notched a walk-off victory, their first in franchise history. As a result, Fayetteville earned the split in this series.

Colton Shaver ripped an RBI double in the 1st to open the scoring and Scott Schreiber won the game with a home run to start the bottom of the 9th. Shaver finished 3-4 on the night, while former Nebraska teammates Schreiber and Jacob Meyers had two hits apiece.

Brett Conine's outstanding year continued as he allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out a career-high 12 over six shutout innings. This was the first double-digit strikeout game of Conine's professional career. Leovanny Rodriguez allowed a run on two hits and struck out one in two innings and César Rosado got two groundouts and a fly ball out in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Fayetteville starts a three-game series with Winston-Salem tonight at 6:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 1, Burlington 0

QC home runs: None.

There was only one run in this game and it belonged to Quad Cities.

Austin Dennis scored that run when Freúdis Nova grounded into a force out in the 6th; an error on the play allowed him to come home. His double in the 8th was the game's only extra-base hit. Jeremy Peña's single to lead off the 4th extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Luis Garcia and Brett Daniels joined forces to throw a two-hit shutout; they allowed one hit apiece and combined to strike out 16. Garcia started things off by walking three and tying a career high with ten strikeouts in six innings. Daniels walked two and struck out six over the final three innings to complete the shutout.

Austin Hansen will start the series finale and he'll face José Soriano at 2:00.

DSL Astros 6, DSL Royals1 4

The Academy opened up their season with a victory.

Carlos Hurtado drove in the DSL team's first run of the season with an RBI triple in the 1st and he eventually scored on a single from Frank Perez. Omar Díaz stole home as part of a double steal in the 5th inning. They got two more runs in the 6th as Jesús Liranzo scored on a wild pitch and Cristian Gonzalez hit a groundout that allowed Carlos Quintero to score. Gonzalez scored on a single from Andrés Monzón in the 8th inning. Monzón and Quintero, a pitcher who was serving as the DH in this game, both finished 2-4 on the day.

Jherson Pereira got the start and he went four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and striking out six. Reimy Beltre was the first man out of the bullpen and he allowed two runs (one inherited runner charged to him), a hit, walked three, and struck out two. Ronny Garcia was next; he allowed a hit and walked one in 1.2 innings. José Betances and Cristofer Mezquita followed with an inning apiece. Betances allowed a run on a groundout, a hit, walked one, and struck out one in the 8th, while Mezquita walked one and struck out two in the 9th.

Sunday is the designated day off in the Dominican Summer League. These two teams will play each other again on Monday.

The E-Train busted loose for five runs in the 4th and clubbed four homers on their way to the win.

Cionel Pérez pitched 4.1 innings and allowed three runs (two earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on four hits, walked two, and struck out four. Kent Emanuel was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and he allowed two runs on five hits (solo homer) and struck out five in 3.2 innings of work. Reymin Guduan worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out one.

Garrett Stubbs opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the 3rd inning. Drew Ferguson got plunked with one out in the 5th and one batter later, A.J. Reed whacked a two-run homer. Taylor Jones followed with a double and he came around to score on Nick Tanielu's single. Stubbs and Kyle Tucker walked to load the bases and then Myles Straw and Yordan Alvarez drew walks to bring in a couple of more runs. Alex De Goti and Tucker led off the 6th with homers and they got two more on an RBI single from Reed, who scored on Jones' double. Jones finished 3-5 on the night and all three of his hits were doubles. Tanielu and Reed had two hits apiece.

The Blue Ghosts fought back to tie the game on a couple of occasions, including the 9th... but in the end, the Roughriders nipped them with a run in the first extra frame.

Osvaldo Duarte singled to lead off the 3rd and he scored Corpus Christi's first run of the evening on a wild pitch. Seth Beer ripped an RBI ground-rule double in the 4th inning. Abraham Toro whacked a three-run homer in the 5th to tie the game at 5. Frisco regained the lead with three runs in the 7th, but Granden Goetzman launched a two-run homer in the 8th to get Corpus back to within one. The Roughriders got one run in the top of the 9th to make it a 9-7 game, but the Blue Ghosts forced extras thanks to a pair of RBI singles from Toro and Beer. Unfortunately, they couldn't push across the tying run in the 10th. Beer finished 4-5 on the evening. Toro went 3-5, drove in four, and pushed his season OPS over the 1.000 mark. Josh Rojas went 2-4 with a double and scored twice.

J.B. Bukauskas pitched 4.2 innings and allowed five runs on six hits (solo homer), walked four, and struck out five. Miguel Figueroa pitched two innings and had an inherited runner charged to him when Carlos Sanabria allowed a three-run home run to Christian Lopes in the 7th. Figueroa, a 24th-round pick from last year's draft, also allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out one. Sanabria and Jonathan Bermúdez pitched 1.2 innings apiece. Sanabria allowed three runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on three hits and walked two while Bermúdez allowed the go-ahead run on a double in the 10th, walked two, and struck out four.

Cristian Javier will start the series finale and he'll face Tyler Phillips at 6:15.

Fayetteville 9, Lynchburg 3

Can't lose in walk-off fashion if you win.

Yohan Ramirez pitched four innings and allowed three runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out four. Leovanny Rodríguez and Willy Collado shut it down with five scoreless innings of relief. Leovanny allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out two in three innings and Collado allowed a hit and walked one over the final two innings.

Enmanuel Valdez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 2nd inning. Michael Papierski walked to lead off the 3rd, advanced to third on an Alfredo Angarita single, and scored on Jacob Meyers' groundout. Angarita, who made it to second on the throw from the outfield, scored on a single from Jonathan Arauz. Valdez whacked a two-run triple in the 4th and scored on Papierski's sac fly. Colton Shaver clubbed a solo homer with two outs in the 5th and Scott Schreiber connected for his first Carolina League home run in the 8th, a two-run homer that brought in the final runs of the day. Valdez went 3-4 on the night with a stolen base and scored three runs. Jake Adams went 2-4 with a stolen base and scored twice.

Shawn Dubin takes on Adam Scott in game three of this series. First pitch is at 3:00 Eastern.

Wisconsin 9, Quad Cities 4

QC home runs: None.

Cody Deason tightroped out of trouble early, but the Timber Rattlers eventually got to him.

Deason pitched 4.1 innings and allowed five runs (two inherited runners charged to him) on five hits, walked four, and struck out three. Riley Cabral and Joey Gonzalez threw 2.1 innings apiece out of the bullpen. Cabral was first and he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits, walked one, and struck out four. Gonzalez allowed one hit, which was a solo homer, and struck out three.

César Salazar opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 1st. This was Quad Cities' only scoring play until the 8th, when they scored three runs on an RBI single from Jeremy Peña and a two-run double from Salazar. Peña went 3-4 on the night.

Luis Garcia takes the mound in game three of this series. He'll take on Logan Gillaspie at 1:15.

Sweep!

Round Rock 11, San Antonio 4

RR home runs: Drew Ferguson (5, 2-run in 4th), Derek Fisher (8, solo in 7th)

The Express went on a 10-0 run between the 4th and the 7th innings to bury the Missions.

José Hernández-Urquidy turned in a dominant performance as he allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out 12 in six innings of work. For Hernández-Urquidy, that's the third time that he's struck out 12 in a start and he was one off tying a career-high that he set with Quad Cities on July 16, 2016. Kit Scheetz was sailing through his Triple-A debut, but that final out ended up eluding him. In 2.2 innings, Scheetz allowed three runs on six hits (solo homer) and struck out four. He left with two men on for Reymin Guduan, who allowed a base hit to the first man he faced. Guduan was able to get the final out of the night without incurring any more damage, though.

Kyle Tucker ripped an RBI double in the 1st to open the scoring and then after singling to lead off the 4th, he came home when Drew Ferguson launched a home run. Tucker hit into a force out in the 5th and an error on the play allowed Derek Fisher to score. Ferguson struck again with an RBI double and he came around to score on A.J. Reed's single. Round Rock more or less put this one away with five more runs in the 7th.

Fisher led off the inning with a homer. Jack Mayfield drew a walk and advanced to third on an error that allowed Tucker to reach. Ferguson followed with another RBI double and then Reed hit a two-run single. Reed advanced to third on a long Nick Tanielu flyball out and scored the Express' final run of the night on a single from Jamie Ritchie.

Ferguson finished 3-5 on the evening and all three of his hits resulted in runs for Round Rock. Reed, Tucker, and Myles Straw all turned in two-hit performances for the Express.

The Express and Missions will play game two of this series at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 6, Amarillo 1

CC home runs: Josh Rojas 2 (3; solo in 4th, solo in 6th), Stephen Wrenn (1, solo in 7th)

Bryan Abreu has settled in nicely in the Texas League and in this game, he and Cristian Javier combined to hold the Sod Poodles to just four hits.

Abreu went five innings and allowed a run on two hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Javier took it home as he allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out four in the final four innings to earn his first Texas League save.

Josh Rojas opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 4th inning. Corpus got two in the 5th on an RBI single from Abraham Toro and an RBI ground-rule double from Seth Beer. After Amarillo got their only run of the night in the bottom of the 5th, Rojas got the run back when he whacked a homer to lead off the 6th. Stephen Wrenn connected for his first homer of the year to start the 7th and he scored the final run of the night on Toro's RBI base hit in the 9th.

Toro went 4-5 on the night. Rojas finished 3-4 with the two solo shots and Wrenn and Chuckie Robinson chipped in with two hits apiece.

Brett Adcock will take the mound as the Hooks look for the sweep in the Panhandle. He'll take on Adrian Morejón at 11:05 AM.

Fayetteville 7, Winston-Salem 2

Fayetteville home runs: Jake Adams (7, solo in 9th)

The Woodpeckers stunned the Dash as they scored three runs in each of the last two innings.

Enmanuel Valdez scored Fayetteville's first run of the night on an Alfredo Angarita groundout. It took a little while but the Fayetteville offense finally woke up in the 8th.

The Woodpeckers loaded the bases to lead off the 8th as Scott Schreiber ripped a ground-rule double, Valdez singled, and Michael Papierski walked. Schreiber scored the tying run when Angarita grounded into a force out that erased Papierski at second base. Jacob Meyers drew a walk to re-load the bases for Jonathan Arauz, who put the Woodpeckers in front with a two-run single.

Jake Adams kicked things off in the 9th with a home run and then Colton Shaver followed with a double. Shaver, who advanced to third on a wild pitch, had to wait a little while before he could score. Papierski and Angarita walked to load the bases for Meyers, who capped off the night with a two-run single. Arauz got a chance for a six-hit night, but he grounded out to first to end the 9th inning.

Jonathan Arauz turned in the first five-hit game of his career. Schreiber, Valdez, and Corey Julks all finished with two hits on the evening.

Brett Conine's fine season continued as he allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits (solo homer) and struck out eight in five innings of work. Leovanny Rodríguez and Willy Collado pitched two scoreless innings apiece to seal the win. Leovanny allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out two, while Collado tightroped out of a bases-loaded predicament in the 8th and had a slightly less stressful 9th. Collado walked two, struck out two, and also hit a batter.

Enoli Paredes will get the start in a morning game for Fayetteville. He'll face Lincoln Henzman at 11:00 AM Eastern time.

Quad Cities 4, Kane County 1

One Arizona Wildcat shined on the mound on Monday for Quad Cities... another one stood out at the plate on Tuesday.

Quad Cities got two in the 1st on a pair of sac flies from Marty Costes and César Salazar. Salazar doubled with one out in the 4th and scored on Jonathan Lacroix's base hit. He capped off the scoring with an RBI single in the 8th to wrap up a 3-3 day. Lacroix went 2-4 on the afternoon.

Brett Daniels allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out four over six innings to get the win. Austin Hansen pitched the final three innings for the save, allowing three hits, walking two, and striking out five.

It's another early start in this series as José Alberto Rivera takes on Justin Lewis at 11:00 AM.

Fresno home runs: Nick Tanielu (4, 8 season; 2-run in 2nd), Jack Mayfield (13, solo in 5th), Kyle Tucker (16, 2-run in 7th), A.J. Reed (24, 3-run in 8th)

29 runs, 27 hits, six home runs. Fortunately, when the dust settled, the Grizzlies emerged on top. Just barely.

The four home run hitters for Fresno also accounted for 14 RBI. The one run that was not driven in came in the 7th when Yordan Alvarez scored on an error following a sac bunt from Garrett Stubbs.

The pitchers allowed 14, but the offense scored 15 and that's all that matters. Matt Ramsey allowed a hit and struck out two over two scoreless. Dean Deetz struck out one in a 1-2-3 7th, and Riley Ferrell got Carson Kelly to fly out to end the game.

Fresno has Wednesday off as they make the journey back to the Central Valley. They'll start a four-game series with Albuquerque on Thursday.

Corpus Christi 4, Tulsa 1

CC home runs: Ronnie Dawson (2, 12 season; solo in 5th)

Ryan Hartman and Akeem Bostick kept the Drillers in check as they played crucial roles in snapping the Hooks' four-game skid.

The one run that Hartman allowed in his five innings came on a home run in the 4th inning. He allowed three other hits and struck out six. Bostick took it home with four no-hit innings; he walked one and struck out six.

Ryne Birk opened the scoring by ripping a two-run double in the 2nd inning. Ronnie Dawson smacked a solo homer in the 5th and Chas McCormick followed with a single. McCormick then stole second and scored the final run of the evening on an error that allowed Randy César to reach. Dawson and Birk had two hits apiece; McCormick's steal gives him 8 with Corpus Christi and 15 on the season.

Brock Dykxhoorn will take on Dustin May in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Buies Creek 5, Down East 1 in 11 innings

BC home runs: J.J. Matijevic (13, 16 season; 2-run in 11th)

Down to their final out, the Carolina Stros managed to tie the game and then erupted for four runs in the 11th to win the series opener in Kinston. With this victory, Buies Creek has won the first edition of the Lone Star Series in North Carolina; they currently lead the season series 12-8 with two games remaining.

Buies Creek had the bases loaded in the 8th but Seth Beer struck out to end the threat. Jake Adams led off the 9th and advanced to second on a balk. Cody Bohanek drew a walk and they both advanced on a sac bunt from Carlos Canelón. Jonathan Arauz got a free pass to first to set up a double play anywhere and that prompted the Wood Ducks to make a pitching change. Corey Julks popped out in foul territory for the second out and it was all up to J.J. Matijevic. He fell behind 1-2 but took three straight balls to tie the game. The real fun began in the 11th inning.

Bohanek led off the inning in scoring position and advanced to third on another sac bunt from Canelón. Arauz drew another walk. Down 0-2, Julks put Buies Creek in front with a two-run double and Matijevic provided the cherry with a two-run home run. They won this game despite striking out 20 times. Julks finished 2-6 and was the only player on either side to finish with a multi-hit game.

Gabriel Valdez got the start and he allowed the Wood Ducks' one run on five hits and struck out six in five innings. Peter Solomon tagged in to throw four scoreless, allowing two hits and fanning six. Enoli Paredes got the two extra innings and struck out one in a perfect outing (aside from the leadoff runners) to get the win.

Game two of this series will kick off at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities was off

The Banditos will start a four-game series in Beloit at 6:00. The first game is actually a suspended game that originally started on July 3, but was stopped because the lights went out.

The ValleyCats bullpen mowed the Tigers down in the finale and they wound up getting a big series win on the road.

Cody Deason went three innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked one, and struck out three. Austin Hansen allowed a hit in his two innings and all six outs he recorded came via the strikeout. R.J. Freure struck out four over three perfect innings, and J.P. France allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 9th inning to earn the save.

Oscar Campos opened up the scoring by clubbing a grand slam in the 2nd inning. Tri-City's other run came in the 7th when Enmanuel Valdez hit a sac fly. Campos finished 2-4 and was the only man on either side to finish with a multi-hit game.

The ValleyCats will kick off a three-game series with Hudson Valley at 7:00 Eastern.

The Palm Beach Stros got a run in the 9th to break a 3-3 tie.

Ernesto Jaquez continues to post the same mind-boggling numbers he's put up all year as he allowed a hit and struck out seven over five shutout innings. Jaquez has allowed two runs (one earned) on 11 hits in 44 innings this season between the DSL and the Gulf Coast League. Angel Macuare was the first man out of the GCLstros bullpen and allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits, walked two, and struck out four in three innings. Jervic Chavez worked around a walk to close out the game.

Andrés Santana reached on an error to start the 4th and he scored the first run of the day on another error that also allowed Wilyer Abreu to reach. Juan Paulino launched his first career homer, a two-run blast in the 5th. Hector Martinez led off the 9th with a single, advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw, and scored what turned out to be the winning run on a sac fly from Freúdis Nova.

DSL Dodgers Robinson 9, DSL Astros 8

The Dodgers Robinson scored four runs in the top of the 9th to snatch the victory from the Astros.

Jose Mendoza went 2-3 with a couple of stolen bases (8) and a couple of runs scored. He hit an infield single in the 1st and scored the Academy's first run thanks to three wild pitches. Victor Mascai ripped an RBI double and he also scored on a couple of wild pitches. Mascai drove in another run on a fielder's choice in the 7th inning.

Jojanse Torres went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits, walked one, and struck out six.
