Quiet night.

Omaha 9, Round Rock 2

The Storm Chasers rumbled to a 5-0 lead after 3.5 innings and the E-Train were never really in this one.

Taylor Jones ripped an RBI double in the 4th and Jack Mayfield launched a solo homer in the 6th. Josh Rojas went 2-4 with a stolen base (29) and a run scored; Alex De Goti also had two hits on the evening.

Framber Valdez pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits, walked five, and struck out six. Akeem Bostick was the first man out of the bullpen and he allowed three runs on five hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out four. Kit Scheetz got the last two innings and he allowed two hits, one of which was a solo homer, and struck out four.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks are in Springdale, Arkansas, where they'll begin a series with Northwest Arkansas at 7:05.

Fayetteville and Lynchburg was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for tonight with game one starting at 6:00 Eastern. Jojanse Torres will get the start in game one and Forrest Whitley is scheduled to start the second game.

Quad Cities was off

The River Bandits will kick off a three-game set with Peoria tonight at 6:35.

Tri-City 4, Brooklyn 1 (5 innings)

This game was called due to rain with one out in the 6th.

Ronel Blanco began his rehab and he allowed an RBI single, walked one, and struck out two in the 1st. Christian Mejías allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out three in four innings of work.

Juan Paulino opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. Juan Ramirez led off the 5th with a double and scored on an error following a single from Yeuris Ramirez. Yeuris moved up to second and scored on a base hit from E.P. Reese. Reese stole second and scored on Luis Guerrero's single. Juan Ramirez finished 2-2. Reese (5) and Guerrero (2) both stole a base.

The ValleyCats and Cyclones will continue this series at 7:00 Eastern.

DSL Royals1 7, DSL Astros 1

DSL home runs: None.

Not a good last couple of days for the Dominican 'Stros as they were outscored 18-2 by the Royals. They had nine hits in this one but only got one run for their troubles.

Omar Díaz hit an RBI single in the 6th. Ricardo Toro went 3-3. Jairo José, who is normally an outfielder, struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Hopefully they'll have better luck when they take on the Rays 1 at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The E-Train was held in check on Tuesday and had to settle for the split.

Alex De Goti scored Round Rock's only run of the evening on Kyle Tucker's groundout in the 1st.

Akeem Bostick didn't pitch terribly but he ended up getting saddled with the loss. In six innings, he allowed two runs on solo homers, one other hit, walked three, and struck out seven. Reymin Guduan was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and he allowed an unearned run on a sac fly, a hit, walked one, and struck out two. Kit Scheetz struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th.

The Express have today off as they make their way to Iowa for a series with the Cubs starting Thursday.

Arkansas 6, Corpus Christi 3

CC home runs: Max Stassi (1, solo in 6th), Granden Goetzman (14, solo in 6th)

The Hooks got a pair of homers in the 6th to tie the game... only to see the Travs regain control with two runs in the 7th.

J.B. Bukauskas went five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Yohan Ramirez tagged in for 1.2 innings and he allowed three runs on four hits (solo homer), walked four, and struck out three. Willy Collado got the final 2.1 innings and he allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out one.

Bryan de la Cruz put Corpus on the board with a sac fly in the 5th. Max Stassi, who joined Collin McHugh in rehabbing with the Hooks, led off the 6th with a homer and Granden Goetzman launched a solo shot of his own two batters later.  Goetzman finished 3-4 on the night, while Stassi and Osvaldo Duarte both went 2-4.

Bryan Abreu gets the start in the finale and he'll take on Justin Dunn at 6:15.

Carolina League All-Star Game

Corey Julks started in left field for the South team and he played all nine innings, hitting a two-run homer in the 9th that made it a one-run game. Jacob Meyers started in center field and also played the entire game. He didn't fare as well at the plate, however, as he went 0-5 with a couple of strikeouts. Jake Adams got the start at first base and he singled and scored a run before being replaced in the 6th.

The North came out on top by a score of 8-7. Fayetteville returns to action tomorrow in Myrtle Beach.

Midwest League All-Star Game

The East All-Stars won a sudden-death home run derby after regulation ended in a 3-3 tie.

Matt Ruppenthal came on for the 4th but he only recorded one out. He allowed a couple of runs on three hits and walked one.

Jeremy Peña came on as a pinch-hitter in the top of the 5th and he proceeded to hit a single. He played shortstop the rest of the way and finished 1-3. Trey Dawson and César Salazar entered the game in the bottom of the 5th; Dawson took over at third and drew a walk and struck out, while Salazar singled and was hit by a pitch.

Quad Cities kicks off the second half with a series in Beloit.

Aberdeen 4, Tri-City 3

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats outhit the Ironbirds 8-3, but Aberdeen took control of this game thanks to three runs in the bottom of the 7th.

Juan Paulino went 3-4 and he opened the scoring by smacking an RBI triple in the 4th. A.J. Lee singled and later scored on a wild pitch in the 5th and Matt Barefoot hit an RBI single in the 6th. The ValleyCats had a chance to tie and/or take the lead in the 8th but they stranded the bases loaded. Korey Lee finished 2-4 and scored on Barefoot's single.

Manny Ramirez went 4.2 innings and he had an inherited runner charged to him. He also walked four and struck out five. Peyton Battenfield allowed one of the runners that he inherited from Ramirez to score on a single, the only hit that he allowed in 1.1 innings. Julio Robaina got the last two innings and he allowed three runs (two earned; all runs came in the 7th) on two hits, walked two, and struck out three.

Jayson Schroeder will take the mound for game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05 Eastern.

DSL Royals1 8, DSL Astros 3

The Dominican 'Stros held the Royals 1 to five hits but they lost in the column that matters most.

Jesús Liranzo hit an RBI single in the 2nd, Omar Díaz stole home in the 6th, and Freddy Guilamo hit an RBI single in the 8th. Liranzo and Andrés Monzón both finished 2-4 on the day.

José Nodal pitched 3.1 innings and allowed five runs (four earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on three hits (two solo homers), walked four, and struck out four. Carlos Calderón was the first man out of the bullpen and he allowed an unearned run on two hits, walked three, and struck out two in 2.2 innings. Cristofer Mezquita walked three and struck out four in two scoreless innings and José Betances allowed two runs, walked four, and struck out one in the 9th.

These two teams will face off again at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

Fayetteville sweep!

Round Rock 9, Reno 8

The Express chipped away at an early 6-0 deficit, pulled even with three runs in the bottom of the 8th, and walked off with the victory in the bottom of the 9th.

Akeem Bostick went four innings and allowed seven runs on six hits (solo and two-run homers), walked four, and struck out four. The bullpen picked him up with five innings of one-run ball to close things out. Kit Scheetz was first and he allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out four in 2.2 innings. Ralph Garza Jr. struck out two over 2.1 perfect innings to earn the win.

Drew Ferguson put the Express on the board with an RBI double in the 4th and he came around to score on a base hit from Nick Tanielu. Kyle Tucker added another run with a single in the 5th and they got a pair in the 6th thanks to an A.J. Reed sac fly and a double from Aníbal Sierra. The E-Train turned a bases-loaded situation in the 8th into the three runs that tied the game. Sierra drove in a run with a groundout, but he became the second out. However, Jamie Ritchie followed with a two-run single to tie the game.

Taylor Jones kept the bottom of the 9th alive by drawing a walk and Ferguson joined him on the bases with a walk of his own. Tanielu sent everyone home happy with an RBI single. He finished 4-5 with a triple on the night. Ferguson went 3-4 with a double and scored three runs.

Rogelio Armenteros gets the start in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Arkansas 2, Corpus Christi 1 (10 innings)

CC home runs: None.

The Hooks missed a chance to take control of this game and eventually walked off with the loss in the first extra frame.

J.B. Bukauskas pitched six innings and the one run he allowed came on a solo homer. He allowed three other hits, walked two, and struck out ten. Brandon Bailey tagged in for 2.2 scoreless, allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out six. Tommy DeJuneas got the last out of the 9th with a strikeout but the leadoff man hit the walk-off RBI single against him in the 10th.

Ronnie Dawson singled in the 6th and scored Corpus Christi's only run of the night on a wild pitch. Bryan de la Cruz finished 2-3 with a double.

Yohan Ramirez will make his first Texas League start in 2019 in the series finale. He'll face Justin Dunn at 7:10.

Fayetteville 1, Myrtle Beach 0

Fayetteville home runs: Scott Schreiber (3, 6 season; solo in 2nd)

There was only one scoring play in this game and it belonged to the Woodpeckers as they swept the Pelicans out of the Sandhills.

Meanwhile on the mound, Brett Conine, César Rosado, and Jacob Billingsley combined on a three-hit shutout. Conine actually allowed all three hits and struck out seven in six innings. Rosado struck out three over two perfect innings and Billingsley worked around a hit batter to finish off the game. He struck out two.

Scott Schreiber led off the 2nd with a homer and that tally held up thanks to the excellent pitching. That was the only extra-base hit by either side in this game. Miguelangel Sierra had the other two Fayetteville hits.

The Woodpeckers will take on the Potomac Nationals in a four-game series, their last series before the Carolina League All-Star break. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities and Beloit was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for tonight with game one beginning at five. Cody Deason takes on Reid Birlingmair in the first game and R.J. Freure will go against Bryce Conley in game two.

DSL Red Sox1 8, DSL Astros 7

DSL home runs: None.

Unbelievable. The Astros scored five in the top of the 9th to take a 7-3 lead... and then the Red Sox walked off with the win after scoring five of their own in the bottom of the 9th.

Cristian Gonzalez hit an RBI single in the 4th inning to put the Dominican 'Stros on the board. Andrés Monzón hit an infield single in the 7th and an error on the play allowed Tomás Ramirez to score another run. The Astros turned a bases-loaded situation in the 9th into five runs. Yohander Martinez drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Monzón, who struck out but reached base safely. Two batters later, Gonzalez brought everyone in with a triple and he scored on a wild pitch for good measure. Gonzalez and Monzón both finished with two hits on the day.

Juan de los Santos pitched four innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits, walked two, and struck out two. José Nodal was the first man out of the DSL Astros bullpen and he allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out two in 2.1 scoreless innings. Carlos Calderón was next and he allowed two unearned runs on two hits and walked two in 1.2 innings. José Betances couldn't close it out; he got two outs in the 9th and allowed five runs (three inherited runners charged to him), walked four, and struck out one. Marcos Eusebio issued a bases-loaded walk and the Red Sox hit a game-winning two-run double off of him.

The Astros will take on the Dodgers 1, or the Dodgers Bautista team at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The Sounds smacked four homers to derail the Express.

Ryan Hartman went five innings and allowed five runs on six hits (two solos and a two-run homer) and struck out three. Akeem Bostick was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and the one run he allowed in his 3.1 innings came on a solo homer hit by Patrick Wisdom, who took Hartman deep for a solo homer earlier in the game. Bostick allowed one other hit and struck out two. Reymin Guduan allowed a hit and got the last two outs of the 9th via strikeout.

Myles Straw went 3-5 with a couple of RBI singles in the 3rd and the 9th. Derek Fisher also went 3-5 and hit an RBI single in the 9th before Straw hit his second one. Yordan Alvarez finished 2-5 and got to face the man he was traded for, Josh Fields.

Cionel Pérez faces Wes Benjamin in game four of this series. First pitch is at 1:05.

Corpus Christi 9, Midland 6

Corpus stormed out to a 9-1 lead and withstood a late Midland charge to get the victory.

Ronnie Dawson put the Hooks on the board with a two-run single in the 2nd inning and he came home himself on Chuckie Robinson's infield single. Stephen Wrenn hit a one-out double in the 3rd and one batter later, Seth Beer connected for his first Texas League homer. Osvaldo Duarte hit an RBI single in the 4th and Chas McCormick whacked a three-run homer in the 5th. Beer and Dawson both finished 3-4 on the night.

Carson LaRue went five innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out one. Brandon Bailey was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he went three innings, allowing five runs on six hits (three-run homer), walking three, and striking out two. Kit Scheetz, who was pitching on his birthday, allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save.

J.B. Bukauskas will get the start in the series finale. He'll face James Naile at 2:00.

Carolina 6, Fayetteville 4

Fayetteville home runs: None.

The Woodpeckers erased a 4-0 deficit with four runs in the 4th to tie, but the Mudcats regained control with two runs in the 5th.

Fayetteville parlayed a bases-loaded situation to lead off the 4th into their four runs. Colton Shaver put the Woodpeckers on the board with an RBI single, Scott Manea ripped a two-run double, and Scott Schreiber hit a sac fly. Jonathan Arauz finished 3-4 with a double and scored a run.

Chad Donato allowed six runs (three earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on six hits (three-run homer), walked four, and struck out four in four innings. Tommy DeJuneas walked one and struck out five over three hitless innings, but two of the runners he inherited from Donato scored on sacrifice flies. Willy Collado allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four in two scoreless innings.

The Woodpeckers will look to avoid the sweep at 2:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 6, Peoria 2

QC home runs: Trey Dawson (2, 2-run in 4th)

The Banditos only scored in one inning but it was enough to give them the win. This series has been characterized by big innings and after the Chiefs had an eight-run inning on Friday, Quad Cities put up six in the 4th on Saturday.

All six Quad Cities runs in the 4th came with two outs. Jonathan Lacroix kept the inning alive by drawing a walk and one batter later, Trey Dawson started the assault with a two-run home run. Ross Adolph ripped a double and he came home when Austin Dennis took his place at second following a double of his own. Dennis scored on a single from Ramiro Rodríguez. After Jeremy Peña singled, Alex McKenna hit a two-run double.

The Express scored twice in the 7th to take the lead and got one more in the 8th to nip the Dodgers.

The two runs that Cionel Pérez allowed in his five innings came off a pair of solo home runs in the 4th inning. Overall, he allowed four hits (including the homers), walked two, and struck out five. Kent Emanuel struck out one over three perfect innings and Ronel Blanco earned the save in his Triple-A debut by allowing a hit and striking out two in the 9th.

Jack Mayfield smacked a solo homer in the 1st and Kyle Tucker tripled and stole home in the 2nd inning. Garrett Stubbs led off the 7th with a homer that broke a 2-2 tie. Alex De Goti followed with a double and came around to score on Derek Fisher's double. Nick Tanielu capped off the evening with a solo shot in the 8th. He and Stubbs both went 2-3 from the bottom of the order; Stubbs also stole two bases (4) and Tanielu stole his first base of the season.

Brady Rodgers will get the start as the Express look for the sweep. He'll take on Rob Zastryzny at 11:35.

Corpus Christi 4, Frisco 2

The Hooks were outhit 8-6 but had more in the column that ultimately matters.

Brandon Bailey pitched 4.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits, walked two, and struck out three. He left with the bases loaded in the 5th and Carlos Sanabria was summoned to extract him from this predicament, which Sanabria did successfully. Sanabria ended up pitching 2.1 innings, walking three and striking out one. Kit Scheetz allowed two hits and struck out three to earn the save.

Osvaldo Duarte led off the 1st with a walk. He proceeded to steal second, advanced to third on a deep flyout from Abraham Toro, and scored the first run of the night on a wild pitch. Lorenzo Quintana kept the 2nd inning alive by drawing a walk and he scampered home on a double from Aníbal Sierra. Frisco tied the game with a couple of runs in the 5th but Corpus managed to regain control by getting those two runs back in the 6th.

Josh Rojas got plunked to lead off the 6th; he then stole second, advanced to third on the errant throw down, and scored the go-ahead run on a Stephen Wrenn sac fly. Quintana walked again and advanced to third on Sierra's single; Sierra moved up to second on the throw from the outfield. Duarte popped out in foul territory but Chas McCormick kept things going by drawing a walk to load the bases for Ronnie Dawson, who walked in Quintana for the game's final run. Sierra finished 2-4, while Quintana walked twice and scored twice despite going 0-2.

Salem 13, Fayetteville 6

Fayetteville home runs: Seth Beer (9, solo in 6th)

A couple of huge innings from the Red Sox sent the Woodpeckers to their doom; Salem only scored in two of the nine innings in this game, but they put up four in the 3rd and nine in the 7th to take game one of this series.

Seth Beer opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. He then led off the 6th with a homer that cut Salem's lead to 4-2. Corey Julks ripped a two-run double and Jonathan Arauz drove in another run with a groundout in the 7th. Jake Adams smacked an RBI double in the 9th. Adams finished 3-5 on the night. Beer (solo HR, 2 RBI, 2 R), Julks (2 2B, 2 RBI), and Michael Papierski (2B, 2 R) all had two hits.

Chad Donato went five innings and allowed four runs on seven hits, walked three, and struck out eight. Salem teed off on Nick Hernandez and Jacob Billingsley. We'll just leave it there. Leovanny Rodríguez was technically the only Fayetteville pitcher to turn in a scoreless outing, but he also allowed the two runners he inherited from Billingsley to score. In 2.1 innings, Leovanny allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out four.

The Woodpeckers will try to recover from this beatdown at 7:00 Eastern.

Game 1: Cedar Rapids 9, Quad Cities 4

After getting an entire weekend off due to circumstances beyond their control, the Banditos returned to action and saw their nine-game winning streak come to a close. Well, they had a four-day layoff, so there was probably some rust that needed to be shaken off.

Alex Holderbach launched a two-run homer in the 2nd and Enmanuel Valdez hit an RBI groundout and Jeremy Peña hit an RBI single in the 7th. Holderbach finished 2-3 in game one; he's finished with exactly two hits five times in his last ten games.

After a dominating start to his season, R.J. Freure hit the wall hard for the first time in 2019 as his ERA went from 0.49 to 3.74. Yeah, it was that kind of night for him. Again, we'll leave it there. Joey Gonzalez pitched the last 2.2 innings and technically had a scoreless outing, but the two runners he inherited from Freure both scored. Gonzalez allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out two.

Game 2: Quad Cities 7, Cedar Rapids 0

The Banditos turned the tables on the Kernels in game two to earn the split.

Matt Ruppenthal allowed three hits, walked two, and fanned eight over 5.1 shutout innings and Jonathan Bermúdez struck out four over 1.2 perfect innings to complete the shutout.

Jeremy Peña opened the scoring with a two-run triple in the 3rd and scored when David Hensley hit into a fielder's choice. Hensley walked to lead off the 6th, advanced to third on a César Salazar single, and scored on a wild pitch. Marty Costes, who was just activated from the IL, ended up drawing a walk, and Ross Adolph followed by smacking a two-run triple. Peña tripled to lead off the 7th and scored the last run of the night on a Jonathan Lacroix sac fly. Both of Peña's hits in game two were triples; Austin Dennis went 2-4 and scored a run from the leadoff spot.

Cody Deason will take on Luis Rijo in game three of this series. First pitch is at 6:35.

After the Express squandered a scoring opportunity with the bases loaded in the 6th, the Redbirds took the lead in the top of the 8th. However, Round Rock finally took control with three in the bottom of the 8th to take the first game of this series.

Corbin Martin dominated in his 5.2 innings as he allowed a run, a hit, walked three, and struck out nine. The run was an inherited runner that was charged to him. Both Memphis runs scored on Ralph Garza Jr.'s watch, except that one of them was charged to Martin. Garza went 2.1 innings and allowed a run of his own on a homer, one of three hits that he surrendered on the night, and struck out one. Framber Valdez struck out two in a 1-2-3 9th to earn the save.

Jack Mayfield opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. This was Round Rock's only scoring play until they broke out in the 8th.

Garrett Stubbs singled with one out in the inning and Alex De Goti joined him on the bases after drawing a walk. Myles Straw grounded into a force out that erased De Goti but an error allowed Stubbs to score and Straw to reach. Derek Fisher, who struck out with the bases loaded to end the 6th, redeemed himself by smacking a two-run homer to put the Express in front. Fisher, Stubbs, and A.J. Reed all finished with two hits on the night.

Game two of this series will start at 6:05.

Amarillo 5, Corpus Christi 1

The Hooks have been on a bit of a slide after winning the opening series of 2019, this loss is their fifth in a row.

Stephen Wrenn tripled and scored Corpus Christi's only run on a single from Abraham Toro in the 1st inning. J.J. Matijevic finished 2-3 with a walk.

Tyler Ivey struck out three over two perfect innings... and then he got tossed following an inspection before the 3rd inning, when they found a foreign substance on his glove. Colin McKee was suddenly summoned from the bullpen and he allowed three runs, all on a pair of homers, in his 2.1 innings. McKee walked three and struck out four. Kit Scheetz allowed a hit and struck out four in 1.2 innings, and Brendan Feldmann recorded a strikeout in a 1-2-3 9th.

Brandon Bielak will look to stop this skid. He'll take on Lake Bachar at 7:05.

Myrtle Beach 6, Fayetteville 1

Michael Papierski hit an RBI single in the 2nd to bring in Fayetteville's only run.

J.P. France failed to get out of the 1st inning; he only recorded two outs and allowed three runs (one earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on two hits, walked one, and struck out one. Leovanny Rodríguez was the first man out of the Fayetteville bullpen and pitched an inning (final out of the 1st, two outs in the 2nd), allowing two runs on two hits, walking three, and striking out one. Hunter Martin walked two and struck out one over 2.1 scoreless. Enoli Paredes was next and he allowed a run on a bases-loaded walk, one of five free passes that he issued, and struck out two in his three innings of work. Tommy DeJuneas struck out one in a 1-2-3 8th inning.

Peter Solomon gets the start in game three and he'll face Javier Assad at 6:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities 8, Wisconsin 3

Quad Cities busted out for five in the 6th to take the first game from the Timber Rattlers at Miller Park.

Cody Deason went 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on three hits (solo homer), walked one, and struck out five. R.J. Freure was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and went 2.2 innings, allowing a run on a double, walking four, and striking out four. Willy Collado finished with two perfect innings, striking out two.

Both teams scored a run in the 4th and the 5th; the Banditos got theirs on a César Salazar single and a triple from Marty Costes. The fun began in the 6th...

Jeremy Peña tripled with one out in the inning and came home on Salazar's double. Scott Schreiber took Salazar's place at second when he ripped an RBI double. Schreiber advanced to third when Costes grounded into a force out and then scored on a wild pitch. Ross Adolph smacked a ground-rule double and Trey Dawson hit a bloop RBI single to bring in the Banditos' final run of the night. Schreiber drew a bases-loaded walk in the 7th. Salazar (2B, 2 RBI, R), Peña (3B, 2 R, SB), and Jonathan Lacroix (R, SB) all had two hits in this game.

Brett Conine will get the start for Quad Cities as the series returns to Appleton, the regular home of the Timber Rattlers. He'll face Reese Olson at 5:05.

The Hooks got a huge night at the plate from Ronnie Dawson and Corbin Martin continues to truck along with another nice outing.

Martin allowed two runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out eight in his six innings of work. Kit Scheetz was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he turned in two no-hit innings, walking two and striking out two. Alex Winkelman worked around a hit to close out the game.

Dawson started things off with a homer to lead off the 1st inning. The Hooks got two in the 2nd inning thanks to RBI doubles from Aníbal Sierra and Dawson. Dawson singled with one out in the 4th and moved up on a base hit from Stephen Wrenn. They both advanced on a balk and Carmen Benedetti hit a sac fly to bring Dawson in. Chas McCormick led off the 8th with a walk and scored the final run of the evening when Lorenzo Quintana ripped a double. Dawson finished 4-5 on the night while Sierra and Abraham Toro both had two hits apiece.

Akeem Bostick will start the series finale and he'll take on Anthony Shew at 2:05.

Frederick 2, Buies Creek 1 in 10 innings

The Keys pushed their leadoff runner across in the first extra frame and walked off with a win.

Abdiel Saldaña went five innings and allowed an unearned run on four hits while striking out three. Carson LaRue did not allow a hit in four innings; he walked one and struck out three. Tommy DeJuneas got two strikeouts in the 10th but he also allowed the winning run on two hits.

Jake Meyers drove in Buies Creek's only run with a single in the 3rd inning.

Peter Solomon will face Michael Baumann in the final game of this series. First pitch is at 2:00 Eastern.

An 8-0 deficit proved to be too much for the Banditos to overcome.

Quad Cities scored two runs in each of the innings in which they scored. Miguelangel Sierra ripped a two-run double in the 5th to put them on the board. Colton Shaver led off the 6th with a homer. Jonathan Lacroix got thrown out at third trying to turn a double into a triple, but David Hensley kept things going with a base hit. He moved to third on a single from Chandler Taylor and scored on Sierra's sac fly. Mike Papierski launched a home run to start the 9th and Hensley hit an RBI single with two outs in the inning. Papierski, Hensley, Taylor, and Logan Mattix all finished with two hits on the evening.

Leovanny Rodriguez labored through four innings as he allowed five runs on nine hits (solo and two-run homers) and struck out four. Tim Hardy received a rude welcome to the Midwest League as he allowed four runs on six hits (two-run homer) while striking out three in 1.2 innings. Brendan Feldmann restored some semblance of order to this game from the Banditos' standpoint, but the damage was done. Feldmann allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out four over 2.1 scoreless innings and Humberto Castellanos escaped a bases-loaded predicament in the 9th; he allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out one.

After a topsy-turvy start to this game, the ValleyCats were able to seize control.

Juan Pablo Lopez only recorded two outs in the 1st. He allowed three unearned runs on three hits and struck out one. Jacob Billingsley was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and went 2.2 innings, allowing two runs, one of which was an inherited runner that was charged to him, on six hits and struck out four. Felipe Tejada struck out six over 4.2 near-perfect innings; he allowed one of Billingsley's runners to score on a sac fly and also plunked another man. Austin Hansen walked one and struck out one in the 9th.

Trey Dawson opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st and he came around to score on a single from Alex Holderbach. Juan Piñeda reached on an error to lead off the 2nd and scored on a Carlos Machado groundout. Oscar Campos hit an RBI single in the 3rd and then whacked a solo homer with two outs in the 5th that tied the game at 5. Piñeda kept the line moving with a base hit and he scored the go-ahead run on a Ramiro Rodriguez double. Holderbach smacked a two-run triple in the 6th and very nearly turned into a three-run inside-the-park homer... but he got thrown out at the plate to end the inning. Holderbach (3B, 3 RBI), Campos (solo HR, 2 RBI), Rodriguez (2 2B, RBI), and Enmanuel Valdez (2B) all had two hits in this game. Austin Dennis scored twice and stole a couple of bases, giving him 14 on the season.

The ValleyCats will conclude this brief two-game set at 5:05 Eastern. After this contest, they'll have a break for the New York-Penn League All-Star game.
