The Astros' upper-level clubs got the better of their Royals counterparts on Wednesday.

Round Rock 3, Omaha 0

All of the runs in this game belonged to the Express.

Meanwhile, three pitchers combined to keep the Storm Chasers off the scoreboard. Kent Emanuel allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out five over seven shutout innings. Ralph Garza Jr. and Felipe Paulino finished things off with one scoreless inning apiece. Garza allowed a hit and fanned one in the 8th while Paulino worked around a couple of walks to get the save, striking out one.

Jack Mayfield scored the first run of the night on a Kyle Tucker groundout in the 4th and Josh Rojas smacked a two-run homer in the 5th inning. Mayfield and Nick Tanielu both finished 2-4; Mayfield also stole a base, his fifth on the year. Carlos Correa went 1-2 with a couple of walks and scored on Rojas' home run.

Carson LaRue takes on Arnaldo Hernandez in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 3, Northwest Arkansas 1

The Hooks got a couple in the 8th to take the lead and added an insurance run in the 9th as they came out on top in Northwest Arkansas.

Tyler Ivey allowed an unearned run on a sac fly, a hit, walked two, and struck out five in 2.1 innings of work. Carlos Sanabria was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he issued a walk while striking out four in 1.2 innings. J.B. Bukauskas took it home as he allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out seven over the last five innings.

Seth Beer got plunked with one out in the 8th and Lorenzo Quintana joined him on the bases following a double. Colton Shaver was intentionally walked to load the bases for Chuckie Robinson, who... struck out for the second out. It all fell to Osvaldo Duarte and he came through with a two-run single to put the Hooks on the board and in the lead. Beer capped off the scoring with an RBI single in the 9th. Duarte finished 2-3 on the night.

Bryan Abreu takes the mound for game two. He'll take on Conner Greene at 7:05.

Game 1: Fayetteville 4, Lynchburg 3 (8 innings)

Fayetteville home runs: Jake Adams (14, 2-run in 1st)

The Woodpeckers tied it with one in the 7th and scored another in the 8th to walk off with the win in game one.

Forrest Whitley got the start and he allowed two runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on three hits, walked one, and struck out two in 3.1 innings. Cody Deason got the last 4.2 innings and he allowed an unearned run on two hits, walked two, and struck out one.

Jake Adams whacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the 1st. Jeremy Peña kept the game alive by ripping a two-out double in the 7th and he came around to score the tying run on a single from Jonathan Arauz. Corey Julks started the 8th in scoring position and he scored the winning run on Michael Papierski's infield single. Papierski went 3-4 in game one. Peña (2B, R), Arauz (RBI, SB), and Julks (2B, 2 R) all finished with two hits.

Game 2: Fayetteville 3, Lynchburg 0

L- Brock Hartson (0-1)

Fayetteville home runs: Jake Adams (15, 2-run in 1st)

Extra innings not needed. Only one pitcher needed.

Jojanse Torres allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out eight as he threw a complete game, albeit a seven-inning complete game, for the first time in his career.

All three Fayetteville runs in game two came in the 1st. Corey Julks hit an infield single and an error on the play allowed Jonathan Arauz to score. Jake Adams followed by whacking a two-run home run.

The Woodpeckers are looking for the sweep and Brett Conine will take on Justin Garza at 7:00 Eastern.

Peoria 9, Quad Cities 5

QC home runs: Austin Dennis (3, solo in 3rd)

The Chiefs went off for seven in the 7th.

Abdiel Saldaña started off by allowing a hit, walking two, and striking out three over four scoreless. Unfortunately, Peoria teed off on Matt Ruppenthal and Luis de Paula. Layne Henderson restored some order as he allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless 9th, but the damage was done.

The Banditos opened the scoring in the 3rd as Austin Dennis went deep. Freúdis Nova followed with a double and he ended up scoring on an errant pickoff attempt. Trey Dawson scored on a wild pitch in the 7th and then he and Jonathan Lacroix drew bases-loaded walks in the 8th. Dawson and Dennis had two hits apiece.

Brett Daniels gets the start in game two of this series. He'll go against Michael Brettell at 6:35.

Brooklyn 9, Tri-City 2

W- Mitch Ragan (1-2)
L- Kyle Serrano (0-2)

TC home runs: None.

The Cyclones led 5-0 after the 1st and Tri-City never really threatened here.

Kyle Serrano and Michael Horrell got roughed up as Brooklyn got six runs off the two of them in the first two innings. Manny Ramirez and Blair Henley managed to throw three innings apiece afterward. Manny allowed a run on two hits, walked two, and struck out five, while Henley allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked one, and fanned five.

Joe Perez was involved in both of the ValleyCats scoring plays; he drove in a run with a groundout in the 2nd and scored on a wild pitch in the 5th.

Tri-City and Brooklyn will conclude this series at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Marlins 16, GCL Astros 6

GCL home runs: Yimmi Cortabarria (2, 3-run in 2nd)

The Palm Beach 'Stros scored six runs in the first two innings. Unfortunately, they were kept off the board for the remainder of this game.

Yimmi Cortabarria hit an RBI single in the 1st and launched a three-run homer in the 2nd. Before he went deep, Dexter Jordan grounded into a force out that scored Tyler Krabbe and he later scored himself on a wild pitch that Sean Mendoza struck out on. Cortabarria and Yefri Carrillo both finished with two hits on the day.

Tough day at the office for the pitching staff.

The Astros will take on the Nationals at noon Eastern.

DSL Astros 5, DSL Rays1 0

DSL home runs: Miguel Palma (4, solo in 2nd)

After getting rocked by the Royals 1 the last couple of days, the Dominican 'Stros got back on track by blanking the Rays 1.

Jaime Melendez and Reimy Beltre started things off with four scoreless innings apiece. Melendez allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out three, while Beltre allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out five. Edinson Batista struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th to complete the shutout.

Miguel Palma smacked a two-run home run in the 2nd to open the scoring. Jesús Liranzo singled to lead off the 5th, advanced to third on Palma's double, and scored on an errant pickoff throw. Carlos Hurtado had an RBI single in the 6th and Andrés Monzón smacked an RBI triple in the 9th. Palma finished 2-3 on the afternoon.

Both of these teams will play again at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The rain made its presence felt...

Round Rock 11, Memphis 8

RR home runs: Josh Rojas 2 (17; solo in 4th, 2-run in 7th), Alex De Goti (9, 3-run in 2nd)

The E-Train roared back from an early 7-0 deficit by finishing this game on an 11-1 run.

Akeem Bostick got bombed but the bullpen responded with 7.1 innings of one-run ball. Kent Emanuel pitched six innings and allowed a run on six hits, walked one, and struck out four. Brendan McCurry got a four-out save, striking out two.

After Memphis scored twice in the top of the 2nd to take a 7-0 lead, the Express rattled off five in the bottom half to get back in the game. Alex De Goti whacked a three-run homer and then Jamie Ritchie ripped an RBI double and scored on Carlos Correa's base hit.

Josh Rojas led off the 4th with a homer. Aledmys Díaz reached on an error and he scored on a double from Correa. Taylor Jones and De Goti drew walks to load the bases for Chas McCormick, who came through with an RBI single to put Round Rock in front. Ritchie smacked another RBI double in the 7th and he scored when Rojas absolutely crushed a ball to left-center for a two-run homer.

For Rojas, this is his first multi-homer game with Round Rock and fourth on the season. He, McCormick, and Ritchie all had two hits on the evening. Correa finished 3-4 with a couple of runs driven in and a run scored, while Aledmys went 0-4 with a walk and a run scored.

The Express and Redbirds will wrap up this series at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 4, Northwest Arkansas 0

W- Enoli Paredes (5-3)

CC home runs: None.

The Hooks offense took advantage of some shambolic defense from the Naturals while Enoli Paredes and Willy Collado shackled their offense.

Paredes allowed three hits, walked three, and struck out nine over six shutout innings and Collado completed the shutout by striking out four over the final three innings.

With the bases loaded in the 4th, Colton Shaver hit a grounder to third that should have ended the inning. Instead, an error allowed everyone to come home. Chuckie Robinson scored the final run of the night in the 7th on an error after Osvaldo Duarte hit into a fielder's choice. No one on either side finished with a multi-hit game.

J.B. Bukauskas takes on Gerson Garabito in the series finale. First pitch is at 6:15.

Fayetteville and Lynchburg was postponed

Due to rain. This game will be made up as part of a doubleheader tonight with game one starting at 5:00 Eastern. Tyler Ivey is listed as the starter for the first game and he'll take on Justin Garza.

Quad Cities 9, Dayton 3

QC home runs: Austin Dennis (2, 2-run in 2nd)

The Banditos stormed out of the gate and got the cushion they needed to make a Dayton rally look a little less menacing.

Jonathan Bermúdez allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out eight over five shutout innings. R.J. Freure tagged in for three innings and he allowed three runs on five hits, walked three, and struck out two. Hunter Martin walked two and struck out one in a scoreless 9th.

The Banditos loaded the bases to lead off the 1st and they ended up getting three runs out of it as César Salazar hit a sac fly and Grae Kessinger followed with a two-run single. Austin Dennis smacked a two-run homer in the 2nd inning. Salazar ripped a two-run double in the 5th and came around to score on a Jonathan Lacroix single. Lacroix scored Quad Cities' final run of the night on a single from Dennis. Salazar, Dennis, and Kessinger all had two hits on the night.

Brett Daniels gets the start in game two. He'll go against Lyon Richardson at 6:35.

Tri-City and Lowell was postponed

Due to rain. This game will be made up as part of a doubleheader tonight with game one starting at 5:00 Eastern.

GCL Cardinals 9, GCL Astros 4

GCL home runs: Victor Mascai (1, 2-run in 2nd)

The Cardinals came alive as they scored all nine of their runs in the final four innings.

Victor Mascai launched a two-run homer in the 2nd inning and the Palm Beach 'Stros got a couple of sac flies from Franklin Pinto and Yorbin Ceuta in the 7th. Ceuta, Sean Mendoza, José Mendoza, and Tyler Krabbe all finished with two hits on the day.

Kevin Dickey walked one and struck out three over three scoreless innings. Everyone else... gave up runs.

DSL Dodgers Bautista 11, DSL Astros 0 (7 innings)

2019 Triple-A All-Star Game

In El Paso, the Pacific Coast League All-Stars topped their counterparts from the International League by a score of 9-3. Kyle Tucker got the start in left field and he hit a double in the 1st inning, which was his only hit in three at-bats.

Round Rock returns to action tonight as they begin a four-game series with Iowa at 7:05. Akeem Bostick will face Colin Rea.

Frisco 5, Corpus Christi 4

W- Walker Weickel (5-1)
L- Justin Ferrell (1-1)

CC home runs: None.

The Hooks thought they had control of this game after scoring four in the top of the 5th. Well... Frisco scored three in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game and they eventually walked off with the victory and swept the Hooks out of the Metroplex.

In his first rehab appearance, Brad Peacock walked one and struck out four over two scoreless innings. Enoli Paredes, the original scheduled starter, took over for five innings and he allowed four runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out five. Riley Ferrell allowed the winning run on two hits and struck out one in 1.1 innings.

Unfortunately, all of Corpus Christi's scoring in this game was limited to the 5th. Chuckie Robinson put them on the board with a sac fly and then Osvaldo Duarte and Bryan de la Cruz hit RBI singles. Duarte wound up scoring on a wild pitch that Ronnie Dawson swung at and missed for a strikeout. De La Cruz finished 3-4 on the night while Stephen Wrenn went 2-4.

The Hooks will look to bounce back as they start a four-game series in Midland at 7:00. Carson LaRue will face Kyle Friedrichs.

Fayetteville 3, Winston-Salem 2

Fayetteville home runs: Scott Manea (6, 2-run in 2nd)

The Dash tied this game in the top of the 8th... only to see the Woodpeckers get back in front with one in the bottom of the inning.

Nivaldo Rodríguez continued his fine season as he allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out six over five shutout innings. Austin Hansen took over for the last four innings and he allowed a two-run homer, walked three, and struck out six.

Scott Manea launched a two-run home run in the 2nd inning. Jake Adams singled with one out in the 8th. He then stole second, advanced to third on the errant throw down, and scored what turned out to be the winning run on a single from Miguelangel Sierra. Jacob Meyers finished 3-4 with a double.

Cody Deason makes his Carolina League debut tonight at 7:00 Eastern. He'll go against Konnor Pilkington.

West Michigan 9, Quad Cities 5

The Banditos fought back from an early 5-0 deficit to tie the game... and then the Whitecaps regained the lead with four runs in the 6th.

Austin Dennis hit a pair of RBI singles in the 3rd and the 5th. Later in the 5th, Grae Kessinger ripped a two-run double and he came home when Oscar Campos took his place at second. Trey Dawson finished 3-4 and scored twice. Dennis had his two RBI singles.

Jonathan Bermúdez went five innings and allowed five runs on seven hits (grand slam), walked two, and struck out one. Hansel Paulino got two outs in the 6th and he allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits, walked one, and struck out one. Riley Cabral allowed a hit and fanned four in 2.1 innings.

Tri-City 14, State College 7

The ValleyCats poured it on early as they stormed out to a 10-0 lead.

Hunter Brown pitched 1.1 innings and allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out three. Peyton Battenfield was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and he allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out six over 3.2 scoreless. Derek West got two outs in the 6th but he also allowed two runs on two hits and walked two. Luis de Paula got the final out of the 6th and pitched the 7th, where he walked four (one with the bases loaded) and struck out one. Yeremi Ceballos allowed four runs on three hits and walked one in the 8th and Miguel Figueroa walked one and struck out one in the 9th.

Zach Biermann opened the scoring with a two-run double in the 1st. Luis Santana and Nathan Perry hit RBI singles to kick off the big 2nd inning. Korey Lee hit a two-run single and Joe Perez hit a bases-clearing double, although he was thrown out at third to end the inning.

Biermann hit a groundout to bring in Korey Lee in the 4th. C.J. Stubbs ripped a two-run double in the 6th and he scored on a single from Wilyer Abreu. Lee brought in Tri-City's final run with a sac fly in the 8th. Lee, Biermann, and Perez drove in three. Lee and Abreu had three hits apiece; Lee scored four runs, Perry scored three times, and Stubbs came home twice. Stubbs, Perry, and Luis Santana all finished with two hits.

Manny Ramirez takes on Adrian Mardueno at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Nationals 9, GCL Astros 3

L- Fredy Medina (0-1)

GCL home runs: None.

The Nationals took control with five in the 2nd inning.

The Palm Beach 'Stros scored three in the 1st, but nothing more. Dexter Jordan ripped an RBI double and scored on Adonis Giron's single. Rolando Espinosa added a sac fly. Jordan, Colin Barber, Yeuris Ramírez, and Yorbin Ceuta all finished with two hits on the day.

Fredy Medina struck out the side in the 1st, but he also gave up a couple of runs. It didn't get much better for him in the 2nd inning. In addition to allowing the two runners he inherited from Medina to score, Jervic Chavez allowed a run of his own on four hits, walked one, and struck out four in two innings. Abdiel Saldaña took over for three innings and allowed a run on two hits, walked one, and struck out two. Daniel Bello and Julio Robaina pitched an inning apiece. Bello pitched the 7th and he allowed a run on two hits and walked two, while Robaina struck out two in a 1-2-3 8th.

The Palm Beach 'Stros will face the Mets at noon Eastern.

DSL Astros 2, DSL Athletics 1

L- Marcelo Hernandez (1-1)

DSL home runs: None.

The Dominican 'Stros scored one in the 9th to nip the A's.

Andrés Monzón scored on an error in the 1st and he hit an RBI single in the 9th. He went 2-5 and stole three bases, giving him 15 on the season. Yohander Martinez went 2-2 and scored the go-ahead run in the 9th on Monzón's base hit.

Carlos Calderón went four innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits, walked two, and struck out five. José Betances worked around a couple of walks to throw a scoreless 5th. Misael Tamarez allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out five over the final four innings.

The Dominican 'Stros are taking on the Braves right now.

The Hooks' attempt to erase a 7-2 deficit ultimately fell short.

J.J. Matijevic led off the 3rd with a homer and Seth Beer did the same in the 4th. They got three in the 8th as Abraham Toro ripped an RBI double. He moved to third on Beer's single and scored on a single from Granden Goetzman. Beer wound up scoring thanks to a couple of wild pitches. Matijevic whacked his second home run of the night to lead off the 9th. He, along with Beer and Goetzman, finished with two hits on the night.

Enoli Paredes went 4.1 innings and allowed five runs (two inherited runners charged to him) on six hits (two-run homer), walked one, and struck out four. Justin Ferrell got the final two outs of the 5th, one via strikeout, but not before Amarillo got a single off of him that resulted in two runs getting charged to Paredes. Ferrell also issued a couple of walks. Yohan Ramirez allowed three runs on five hits (two-run homer) and struck out four in three innings.

The Woodpeckers outhit the Pelicans 10-6 but lost in the column that matters most. Also, a five-run 3rd inning for Myrtle Beach held up.

Jake Adams ripped an RBI double in the 1st to open the scoring and Enmanuel Valdez hit an RBI single to bring in Jonathan Arauz in the 2nd. Arauz, who just came off the IL, whacked a two-run homer in the 6th. Adams (2 2B, RBI, R), Arauz (2-R HR, 2 R), Valdez (RBI single, SB), and Corey Julks (R, SB) all had two hits on the evening.

Austin Hansen went five innings and allowed five runs on six hits, one of which was a grand slam, walked three, and struck out five. Nivaldo Rodríguez did not allow a hit over the last four innings but the Pelicans got a run off of him with a sac fly. Nivaldo walked three and struck out two during his stint on the mound.

Fayetteville will look to avoid the sweep and snap a five-game losing streak in the series finale. J.P. France will go against Javier Assad at 6:00 Eastern.

R.J. Freure allowed three runs on five hits (two solo homers), walked four, and struck out seven in five innings. Hunter Martin bore the brunt of Clinton's assault in the 6th as he allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out three in 1.2 innings. Riley Cabral walked two in 1.1 scoreless innings of work.

The ValleyCats snapped a five-game losing streak by walking off with the victory on Saturday.

Hunter Brown pitched 2.2 innings and an inherited runner scored and was charged to him when the man on third scored while the trailing runner was caught in a rundown in the 3rd inning. He walked three and struck out one. Derek West was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and he allowed two runs of his own on two hits, walked one, and struck out one in 2.1 innings. Peyton Battenfield followed by striking out five in three perfect innings, and Shea Barry earned his first win as a pro as he walked two and struck out one over two scoreless.

Zach Biermann opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 1st inning. C.J. Stubbs smacked a solo homer in the 4th. E.P. Reese tied the game with a sac fly in the 9th. Deury Carrasco came on to pinch-run for Luis Santana in the 10th and he scored the winning run on Grae Kessinger's single. Kessinger finished 4-5 on the evening and Stubbs went 3-4, finishing a double shy of the cycle.

Manny Ramirez will start the series finale. First pitch is at 5:00 Eastern.

GCL Astros and GCL Marlins was suspended

Due to rain. This game will be completed on July 4. Blair Henley, making his professional debut, allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out four in 2.2 innings.

The Palm Beach 'Stros were supposed to play the Nationals today but that game got postponed as well.

These two teams will play again on Monday.

RR home runs: Lorenzo Quintana 2 (2, 6 season; 2-run in 3rd, solo in 8th)

A Cuban player went off. It was not Yordan Alvarez, who went 0-2 and was intentionally walked three times. Instead, it was Yordan's compatriot, Lorenzo Quintana, who went off as he blasted his first two home runs at the Triple-A level. I'll get to that in a moment.

Rogelio Armenteros, another member of the Cuban contingent, went off on the mound as he allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out seven in six innings of work. Gabriel Valdez walked one and struck out two over the final three innings.

Quintana opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the 3rd inning. Kyle Tucker scored on a wild pitch in the 5th inning. Round Rock got a pair of RBI singles from Alex De Goti and Drew Ferguson in the 6th and they tacked on three more runs in the 8th for good measure as Quintana led off the inning with his second homer of the evening and then they got a couple of bases-loaded walks from Taylor Jones and Nick Tanielu. Quintana was the only player on either side to finish with a multi-hit game.

José Hernández-Urquidy will take on Adbert Alzolay in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Frisco 6, Corpus Christi 5 (12 innings)

The Hooks got back into this game with a grand slam before ultimately walking off with the loss in extras.

J.B. Bukauskas pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on three hits, walked four, and struck out six. Hunter Martin was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and the two runs he allowed in his 1.2 innings came on a homer. Martin also allowed two other hits and struck out one. Nick Hernandez and Colin McKee followed with two innings apiece. Hernandez struck out one in a perfect outing, while McKee allowed a run on two hits and walked two, one intentionally. Layne Henderson pitched a scoreless 11th inning but failed to record an out in the 12th, where the Roughriders scored the winning run against him. Henderson allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out one.

Corpus couldn't get anything going offensively until the 8th when they suddenly found themselves in a tie game when Abraham Toro launched a grand slam to put them on the board. Osvaldo Duarte started the 10th in scoring position and scored on Stephen Wrenn's double. Luis Santana led off the 12th at second base and advanced to third on an Alfredo Angarita sac bunt, but they couldn't push him across. Wrenn finished 2-6 on the evening.

Bryan Abreu gets the start for game two of this series and he'll go up against Tyler Phillips at 7:05.

Wilmington 5, Fayetteville 3

Fayetteville home runs: None.

Both teams scored in the same number of innings, but the difference here was the Blue Rocks putting up a pair of crooked numbers.

Jonathan Arauz extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a base hit in the 1st, put Fayetteville on the board with a sac fly in the 3rd, and scored on Michael Papierski's single in the 6th. Papierski drew a walk in the 9th and eventually scored on a single from Enmanuel Valdez. No one in the Woodpeckers lineup had more than one hit; Miguelangel Sierra's double was their only extra-base hit of the night.

Chad Donato went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits (two-run homer), walked one, and struck out four. Yohan Ramirez allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out eight over the final four innings.

Brett Conine will start the series finale and he'll face Daniel Lynch at 5:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 13, Burlington 10 (10 innings)

The Banditos came out on top to open this series between the top two teams in the Midwest League's Western Division as they scored more runs in one extra inning than they did in the nine regulation innings.

Michael Wielansky opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the 2nd and the Banditos got two more runs in the inning on a Carlos Machado RBI triple and an RBI single from Austin Dennis. David Hensley launched a two-run homer in the 4th. Let's fast-forward to the 10th.

Dennis started the 10th at second base and he didn't have to wait long to score because Jeremy Peña led things off with an RBI single. Freúdis Nova walked and then Ruben Castro ripped an RBI double to bring Peña home. Wielansky followed by adding a two-run triple to his ledger. Trey Dawson proceeded to draw a walk. Ross Adolph went down on strikes for the first out, but Machado came through with a two-run single. Dennis capped off the assault with an RBI single.

Everyone in the original starting nine scored at least once. Peña, who now has a 13-game hitting streak, finished 4-6 on the night. Machado finished 3-5, while Dennis and Wielansky had two hits apiece.

R.J. Freure got the start and the one run he allowed in his four innings came on a solo homer. Freure also allowed three other hits, walked four, and struck out eight. Manny Ramirez came on for the 5th but he only got one out via the strikeout. He allowed three runs (two earned, one inherited runner charged to him) and walked three.

Felipe Tejada was the next man up and the one run he allowed came on a solo homer. He also allowed one of Ramirez's runners to score, but the solo homer was the only run that he allowed and was charged to him. Overall, Tejada pitched 3.1 innings and allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out nine. Riley Cabral allowed a run on two hits and walked one in 1.1 innings, and things got a bit nervy in the bottom of the 10th as the Bees got four runs off of Cody Deason; three of them were earned. Deason allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out two.

Deason is listed as the starter for game two of this series but his appearance in the 10th inning nixed that. Whoever gets the start for Quad Cities will take on Luis Alvarado at 6:30.

Sheesh. The Express emerged victorious after things got a bit weird in extra innings.

Ryan Hartman got the start and he went 4.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on seven hits (two-run homer), walking one, and striking out three. Kit Scheetz was the first man out of the Express bullpen and he allowed a run of his own on a two-run single, walked one, and struck out four in 2.2 innings; one of the runs was charged to Hartman.

Dean Deetz got the 8th for his first appearance since coming off the IL and he got a rude welcome back as he was tagged for two runs on three hits. Deetz also walked one and struck out two. Ronel Blanco tagged in for four innings and he allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits (two-run homer) and struck out five. Jamie Ritchie got the 13th and he allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits. Things got a bit hairy but he managed to close out the game.

Taylor Jones put Round Rock on the board with a two-run homer all the way back in the 2nd inning. Yordan Alvarez hit an RBI single in the 3rd and Jones added a sac fly to his ledger. Lorenzo Quintana hit a sac fly in the 4th and an RBI single in the 6th. Following his RBI single, he scored on Kyle Tucker's base hit. Tucker's RBI single was Round Rock's last scoring play in regulation; the rest of their scoring was done in extra innings.

The E-Train got a pair of RBI singles from A.J. Reed and Josh Rojas in the 11th and a sac fly from Alex De Goti in the 12th. They couldn't seem to shake the Sounds, but they finally did so in the 13th as Drew Ferguson put them back in front with a two-run homer and then Reed added some insurance with an RBI single.

Reed and De Goti had four hits apiece. Ferguson, Jones, Alvarez, and Rojas all finished with three hits; Rojas, who just came up from Corpus, jumped straight into the action after he subbed in for Nick Tanielu in the 4th inning.

Cionel Pérez gets the start as Round Rock starts a four-game series with the Iowa Cubs. He'll take on Alec Mills at 7:05.

Midland 4, Corpus Christi 2

Corpus held Midland to four hits but they lost in the column that matters most.

Brandon Bailey went 5.1 innings and allowed four runs on four hits (solo homer), walked four, and struck out five. Layne Henderson was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he walked two and struck out one over 1.2 scoreless innings. Miguel Figueroa worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 8th, striking out one.

Stephen Wrenn tripled to lead off the 6th and scored the Hooks' first run on a single from Osvaldo Duarte. Ronnie Dawson hit an RBI single in the 7th inning. Duarte and Wrenn had two hits apiece on the night.

Carson LaRue will get the start for the Hooks as they look to avoid a sweep. He'll face James Naile at 7:00.

Wilmington 4, Fayetteville 3

Fayetteville home runs: Colton Shaver (5, 2-run in 1st)

The Woodpeckers held the Blue Rocks to four hits, but a four-run 8th inning turned the game in Wilmington's favor.

Enoli Paredes was excellent yet again as he allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out seven over six shutout innings. He had a no-hitter going through 5.1 innings but it was broken up by a bunt single from Ricky Aracena. Of course it would be broken up by a bunt single. Aracena was caught stealing second base, so Paredes got a little justice.

Unfortunately, the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. Tommy DeJuneas threw a scoreless 7th but the wheels fell off for him in the 8th. In 1.2 innings, DeJuneas allowed four runs (two earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on two hits, walked two, and struck out five. Willy Collado technically threw 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out two, but two of the three runners he inherited from DeJuneas scored on his watch on a single.

Colton Shaver launched a two-run homer in the 1st inning and Jonathan Arauz extended his hitting streak to 12 games with an RBI single in the 6th. Shaver finished 2-4 on the night. Ramiro Rodríguez, in his Carolina League debut, finished 2-2 with a double and scored a run.

The Woodpeckers and Blue Rocks will continue their series at 7:00 Eastern.

Game 1: Beloit 8, Quad Cities 6

Well, that was unpleasant. The Snappers stole game one by scoring seven in the top of the 7th to erase a 6-1 deficit.

Quad Cities scored twice in the 4th to take the lead, thanks to an RBI groundout from Freúdis Nova and a César Salazar sac fly. They scored four more in the 5th on a two-run double from Austin Dennis and a pair of RBI singles from Jeremy Peña and Salazar. Dennis, Peña, and Salazar all finished with two hits in game one. Ross Adolph doubled, drew a couple of walks, and scored a run.

The one run that José Bravo allowed in his 5.1 innings came on a solo homer. He allowed four other hits and struck out six. Everything unraveled on Devin Conn and Humberto Castellanos. Let's leave it at that.

Game 2: Beloit 3, Quad Cities 1

The Banditos doubled up the Snappers in the hit column but they also came out on the short end in game two and so they got swept in the doubleheader.

Trey Dawson scored Quad Cities' only run in game two on a passed ball in the 4th inning. Jeremy Peña hit a single to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

Jayson Schroeder only lasted 1.2 innings in his first start of the season; he allowed three runs on two hits, walked three, and struck out three. Joey Gonzalez and Riley Cabral pitched 2.2 scoreless innings apiece. Gonzalez allowed a hit and walked two, while Cabral walked two and struck out two.

Matt Ruppenthal will get the start as Quad Cities looks to avoid the sweep. First pitch is at 6:35.
