The E-Train administered a beatdown to close out a series and they administered another beatdown to begin a new series.

José Urquidy allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out eight over six shutout innings. Ralph Garza Jr. was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and he went two innings, walking one and striking out one. Ronel Blanco allowed a hit in the 9th but was able to complete the shutout without further incident.

The Express wasted little time in pouring it on as they scored four in the top of the 1st inning. Josh Rojas got things started with a two-run double and he eventually scored on a Taylor Jones sac fly. Drew Ferguson, who walked in front of Jones, scored on Nick Tanielu's triple. Aníbal Sierra grounded into a force out that allowed Jones to score in the 4th and they got two more runs on a sac fly from Alex De Goti and a wild pitch that allowed Oscar Campos to come home.

Rojas doubled to lead off the 9th and one batter later, Yordan Alvarez launched a two-run homer. Ferguson and Jones followed with singles and Sierra capped off the evening with an RBI single that brought Ferguson home.

Rojas finished 3-5 and all three of his hits were doubles. De Goti, Tanielu, and Campos all finished 2-5 on the night.

Game two of this series will start at 6:35 Mountain. Cionel Pérez getting recalled to Houston has thrown the Round Rock rotation out of whack for the time being, so whoever gets the start will take on former Astro Nick Tropeano.

Amarillo 12, Corpus Christi 3

The Sod Poodles put up crooked numbers in all of the innings in which they scored and buried the Hooks on Friday.

Seth Beer led off the 2nd with a homer. Unfortunately, between this play and Corpus Christi's next scoring play, Amarillo went on a 12-0 run. The Hooks scored twice in the 9th as Chuckie Robinson came home on a double play and Ramiro Rodríguez hit an RBI single. No one in the Corpus lineup had more than one hit.

Bryan Abreu went four innings and allowed three runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out seven. Yohan Ramirez came out for the 5th to make his second Texas League appearance. He got two outs via the strikeout, but I think he'd like a do-over. Carlos Sanabria didn't fare much better; he allowed two runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out one in 1.1 innings. Tommy DeJuneas was the only Corpus pitcher to turn in a scoreless outing as he allowed a hit and struck out two in two innings. Carlos Canelón got the 9th and he allowed three runs on four hits, one of which was a two-run homer.

Cristian Javier will take on Kyle Lloyd in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:15.

Wilmington 2, Fayetteville 0

There was one scoring play in this game and it did not belong to the Woodpeckers.

Jacob Meyers and Miguelangel Sierra had two hits apiece. Meyers doubled to lead off the game and that turned out to be the only extra-base hit of the game.

Chad Donato allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out four over six shutout innings. Wilmington got to Brett Conine for a two-run single in the 7th that was the one scoring play in this game. Conine allowed two other hits, walked two, and struck out three over the final two innings.

Shawn Dubin gets the start in game three of this series. He'll face Jackson Kowar at 6:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities 2, Kane County 0

QC home runs: None.

Normally, when a team's pitchers issue ten walks in a game, their team usually loses. This game proved to be the exception, however, as R.J. Freure and Julio Robaina battled their wildness and somehow managed to keep the Cougars off the board at the same time.

The Banditos also returned to the Quad Cities after another flood threat forced them to move the previous series to Peoria.

Both of them allowed two hits and walked five. Freure struck out six in 5.1 innings, while Robaina struck out two over the final 3.2 innings to complete the shutout.

Jeremy Peña opened the scoring with an RBI infield single in the 5th and Trey Dawson added a sac fly in the 6th inning. Peña, Austin Dennis, and Freúdis Nova all finished 2-4 on the evening.

Game two of this series will begin at 6:35.

DSL Astros 5, DSL Athletics 1

DSL home runs: None.

The DSL team continued their fine start to the season.

Reimy Beltre pitched two innings and allowed a run on a bases-loaded walk, one of two walks that he issued, and struck out three. Jherson Pereira tagged in for five innings and he allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out seven. Ronny Garcia got the last two innings and allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

Ricardo Balogh put the Academy on the board with a two-run single in the 4th. Omar Díaz ripped an RBI double in the 6th and then stole home as part of a double steal. Junior Marte, who stole second on the double steal and then moved to third on an errant throw, scored on Frank Perez's groundout. Díaz and Marte scored two runs apiece.

The DSL Astros' next two games will be against the Braves. They'll host the Braves at their complex at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

How were things down on the farm on the final day of May?

Round Rock 8, Iowa 1

RR home runs: Lorenzo Quintana 2 (2, 6 season; 2-run in 3rd, solo in 8th)

A Cuban player went off. It was not Yordan Alvarez, who went 0-2 and was intentionally walked three times. Instead, it was Yordan's compatriot, Lorenzo Quintana, who went off as he blasted his first two home runs at the Triple-A level. I'll get to that in a moment.

Rogelio Armenteros, another member of the Cuban contingent, went off on the mound as he allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out seven in six innings of work. Gabriel Valdez walked one and struck out two over the final three innings.

Quintana opened the scoring with a two-run shot in the 3rd inning. Kyle Tucker scored on a wild pitch in the 5th inning. Round Rock got a pair of RBI singles from Alex De Goti and Drew Ferguson in the 6th and they tacked on three more runs in the 8th for good measure as Quintana led off the inning with his second homer of the evening and then they got a couple of bases-loaded walks from Taylor Jones and Nick Tanielu. Quintana was the only player on either side to finish with a multi-hit game.

José Hernández-Urquidy will take on Adbert Alzolay in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Frisco 6, Corpus Christi 5 (12 innings)

The Hooks got back into this game with a grand slam before ultimately walking off with the loss in extras.

J.B. Bukauskas pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on three hits, walked four, and struck out six. Hunter Martin was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and the two runs he allowed in his 1.2 innings came on a homer. Martin also allowed two other hits and struck out one. Nick Hernandez and Colin McKee followed with two innings apiece. Hernandez struck out one in a perfect outing, while McKee allowed a run on two hits and walked two, one intentionally. Layne Henderson pitched a scoreless 11th inning but failed to record an out in the 12th, where the Roughriders scored the winning run against him. Henderson allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out one.

Corpus couldn't get anything going offensively until the 8th when they suddenly found themselves in a tie game when Abraham Toro launched a grand slam to put them on the board. Osvaldo Duarte started the 10th in scoring position and scored on Stephen Wrenn's double. Luis Santana led off the 12th at second base and advanced to third on an Alfredo Angarita sac bunt, but they couldn't push him across. Wrenn finished 2-6 on the evening.

Bryan Abreu gets the start for game two of this series and he'll go up against Tyler Phillips at 7:05.

Wilmington 5, Fayetteville 3

Fayetteville home runs: None.

Both teams scored in the same number of innings, but the difference here was the Blue Rocks putting up a pair of crooked numbers.

Jonathan Arauz extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a base hit in the 1st, put Fayetteville on the board with a sac fly in the 3rd, and scored on Michael Papierski's single in the 6th. Papierski drew a walk in the 9th and eventually scored on a single from Enmanuel Valdez. No one in the Woodpeckers lineup had more than one hit; Miguelangel Sierra's double was their only extra-base hit of the night.

Chad Donato went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits (two-run homer), walked one, and struck out four. Yohan Ramirez allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out eight over the final four innings.

Brett Conine will start the series finale and he'll face Daniel Lynch at 5:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 13, Burlington 10 (10 innings)

W- Riley Cabral (1-0)
L- Mayky Pérez (0-2)

QC home runs: Michael Wielansky (2, 2-run in 2nd), David Hensley (3, 2-run in 4th)

The Banditos came out on top to open this series between the top two teams in the Midwest League's Western Division as they scored more runs in one extra inning than they did in the nine regulation innings.

Michael Wielansky opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the 2nd and the Banditos got two more runs in the inning on a Carlos Machado RBI triple and an RBI single from Austin Dennis. David Hensley launched a two-run homer in the 4th. Let's fast-forward to the 10th.

Dennis started the 10th at second base and he didn't have to wait long to score because Jeremy Peña led things off with an RBI single. Freúdis Nova walked and then Ruben Castro ripped an RBI double to bring Peña home. Wielansky followed by adding a two-run triple to his ledger. Trey Dawson proceeded to draw a walk. Ross Adolph went down on strikes for the first out, but Machado came through with a two-run single. Dennis capped off the assault with an RBI single.

Everyone in the original starting nine scored at least once. Peña, who now has a 13-game hitting streak, finished 4-6 on the night. Machado finished 3-5, while Dennis and Wielansky had two hits apiece.

R.J. Freure got the start and the one run he allowed in his four innings came on a solo homer. Freure also allowed three other hits, walked four, and struck out eight. Manny Ramirez came on for the 5th but he only got one out via the strikeout. He allowed three runs (two earned, one inherited runner charged to him) and walked three.

Felipe Tejada was the next man up and the one run he allowed came on a solo homer. He also allowed one of Ramirez's runners to score, but the solo homer was the only run that he allowed and was charged to him. Overall, Tejada pitched 3.1 innings and allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out nine. Riley Cabral allowed a run on two hits and walked one in 1.1 innings, and things got a bit nervy in the bottom of the 10th as the Bees got four runs off of Cody Deason; three of them were earned. Deason allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out two.

Deason is listed as the starter for game two of this series but his appearance in the 10th inning nixed that. Whoever gets the start for Quad Cities will take on Luis Alvarado at 6:30.

The Express, doing business as the Round Rock Chupacabras, withstood a big night from San Antonio outfielder Troy Stokes Jr. as they took the series from their I-35 rivals.

Yordan Alvarez scored the first run of the night when Taylor Jones grounded into a double play in the 2nd inning. Kyle Tucker launched a two-run homer in the 3rd and A.J. Reed broke a 3-3 tie with a solo shot in the 6th. Jack Mayfield finished 2-4.

Ryan Hartman went five innings and allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out five. Ralph Garza Jr. was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and the one hit he allowed in his three innings was a two-run homer hit by Stokes, who drove in all three of San Antonio's runs in this game. Ronel Blanco escaped a bases-loaded predicament to get the save; he allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out one in the 9th.

The Express will head to Nashville to play six games. One of them is a game that began on April 18 but was suspended due to the weather. Cionel Pérez will start game one and he'll face Ronald Herrera at 6:35.

Frisco 7, Corpus Christi 2

The Roughriders pulled away on Friday night... Corpus had ten hits but only had two runs to show for it.

Abraham Toro went 2-3 and opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. Josh Rojas finished 3-5 and ripped an RBI double in the 2nd.

Carson LaRue allowed six runs on ten hits, walked one, and struck out two in five innings. Layne Henderson and Hunter Martin both threw two innings out of the bullpen. Henderson allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out one in a scoreless outing and Martin allowed a run on two hits and struck out one.

J.B. Bukauskas will take on Jonathan Hernandez in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:15.

Lynchburg 5, Fayetteville 4

The Woodpeckers tied the game with a run in the 9th... only to walk off with a loss yet again. That makes it three straight games ending in walk-off losses and seven in this fashion on the year.

Chad Donato went 4.1 innings and allowed four runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on seven hits, walked three, and struck out two. Tommy DeJuneas was the first man out of the Fayetteville bullpen and he allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out three in 2.2 innings. Tanner Duncan pitched a scoreless 8th, but the Hillcats got the first three men on base in the 9th and scored the winning run against him. In 1+ inning, Duncan allowed the winning run on three hits, walked two, and struck out two.

Jacob Meyers scored the first run of the night on an errant pickoff throw in the 1st inning. Alfredo Angarita hit a sac fly to bring in Enmanuel Valdez in the 2nd and then Valdez smacked his first Carolina League home run in the 4th. Jonathan Arauz hit an RBI single in the 9th that tied the game at 4. Michael Papierski finished 3-4 on the night.

Yohan Ramirez will face Jean Carlos Mejía in game two of this series. First pitch is at 6:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 12, Wisconsin 3

Fun game. Everyone in the lineup had a hit and scored a run. Well... Alex Holderbach didn't score, but he did have a hit. Hopefully, the Banditos can finally settle in at home without the threat of flooding.

The one hit that R.J. Freure allowed in his five innings was a two-run homer hit by Connor McVey. Freure walked three and struck out six. Matt Ruppenthal struck out four over three perfect innings. Felipe Tejada allowed a run on a sac fly, two hits, and he also recorded a strikeout in the 9th.

Ross Adolph scored the first run of the game when Austin Dennis hit into a fielder's choice in the 3rd. Jeremy Peña scored another run on Marty Costes' groundout. In the 5th, Peña whacked a two-run homer and Quad Cities also got a pair of RBI singles from Trey Dawson and Michael Wielansky. Peña added a sac fly to his ledger in the 6th and Adolph smacked an RBI triple in the 7th. The Banditos capped things off in the 8th as Alex Holderbach hit a sac fly, Dawson ripped an RBI double, and Wielansky added another RBI single. Peña, Dawson, Wielansky, and Adolph all finished with two hits on the evening.

The Sounds smacked four homers to derail the Express.

Ryan Hartman went five innings and allowed five runs on six hits (two solos and a two-run homer) and struck out three. Akeem Bostick was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and the one run he allowed in his 3.1 innings came on a solo homer hit by Patrick Wisdom, who took Hartman deep for a solo homer earlier in the game. Bostick allowed one other hit and struck out two. Reymin Guduan allowed a hit and got the last two outs of the 9th via strikeout.

Myles Straw went 3-5 with a couple of RBI singles in the 3rd and the 9th. Derek Fisher also went 3-5 and hit an RBI single in the 9th before Straw hit his second one. Yordan Alvarez finished 2-5 and got to face the man he was traded for, Josh Fields.

Corpus Christi 9, Midland 6

Corpus stormed out to a 9-1 lead and withstood a late Midland charge to get the victory.

Ronnie Dawson put the Hooks on the board with a two-run single in the 2nd inning and he came home himself on Chuckie Robinson's infield single. Stephen Wrenn hit a one-out double in the 3rd and one batter later, Seth Beer connected for his first Texas League homer. Osvaldo Duarte hit an RBI single in the 4th and Chas McCormick whacked a three-run homer in the 5th. Beer and Dawson both finished 3-4 on the night.

Carson LaRue went five innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out one. Brandon Bailey was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he went three innings, allowing five runs on six hits (three-run homer), walking three, and striking out two. Kit Scheetz, who was pitching on his birthday, allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save.

J.B. Bukauskas will get the start in the series finale. He'll face James Naile at 2:00.

Carolina 6, Fayetteville 4

Fayetteville home runs: None.

The Woodpeckers erased a 4-0 deficit with four runs in the 4th to tie, but the Mudcats regained control with two runs in the 5th.

Fayetteville parlayed a bases-loaded situation to lead off the 4th into their four runs. Colton Shaver put the Woodpeckers on the board with an RBI single, Scott Manea ripped a two-run double, and Scott Schreiber hit a sac fly. Jonathan Arauz finished 3-4 with a double and scored a run.

Chad Donato allowed six runs (three earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on six hits (three-run homer), walked four, and struck out four in four innings. Tommy DeJuneas walked one and struck out five over three hitless innings, but two of the runners he inherited from Donato scored on sacrifice flies. Willy Collado allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four in two scoreless innings.

The Woodpeckers will look to avoid the sweep at 2:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 6, Peoria 2

The Banditos only scored in one inning but it was enough to give them the win. This series has been characterized by big innings and after the Chiefs had an eight-run inning on Friday, Quad Cities put up six in the 4th on Saturday.

All six Quad Cities runs in the 4th came with two outs. Jonathan Lacroix kept the inning alive by drawing a walk and one batter later, Trey Dawson started the assault with a two-run home run. Ross Adolph ripped a double and he came home when Austin Dennis took his place at second following a double of his own. Dennis scored on a single from Ramiro Rodríguez. After Jeremy Peña singled, Alex McKenna hit a two-run double.

Matt Ruppenthal takes on Cole Aker in the series finale. First pitch is at 2:05.

Corpus Christi 12, Northwest Arkansas 3

The Hooks banged out 15 hits and went 7-7 in stolen base attempts as they romped to a victory.

Tyler Ivey went five innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out seven. Brett Daniels got the 6th; he walked one, struck out one, and the one hit he allowed was a two-run homer to Khalil Lee. Ronel Blanco finished things off by allowing one hit and striking out five over the final three innings.

Corpus seized control by busting out for four runs in the 3rd inning. Stephen Wrenn hit an RBI single and then stole home. Granden Goetzman and Chas McCormick chipped in with an RBI single and an RBI double, respectively. Abraham Toro smacked a solo homer in the 5th and added a sac fly to his ledger in the 6th. The Hooks then proceeded to bury the Naturals with a six-run 8th.

Osvaldo Duarte led things off with a homer. Ronnie Dawson doubled and Wrenn drew a walk, which prompted a mound visit. Toro followed with a single and an error on the play allowed Dawson to score. Toro advanced to third, but Wrenn was thrown out at the plate. Granden Goetzman followed with an RBI single and then J.J. Matijevic launched a two-run homer. McCormick got plunked but got forced out at second base. Josh Rojas managed to reach base and he scored the final run of the evening on Chuckie Robinson's double.

Everyone in the Hooks' lineup recorded at least one hit. Duarte led the way in that department by finishing 4-4 and scoring three runs from the bottom of the order. Toro finished 3-4 and scored three runs, while Goetzman went 2-5 with a couple of runs scored. Duarte and Wrenn stole two bases apiece; they both have four stolen bases on the season. Rojas (5), Dawson (3), and Toro (1) also stole a base.

Fayetteville 8, Frederick 1

Fayetteville home runs: Miguelangel Sierra (3, 3-run in 1st)

The Woodpeckers scored a touchdown in the first inning to cruise to the win.

Fayetteville led off the 1st by loading the bases on three singles from Bryan de la Cruz, Michael Papierski, and Seth Beer. Jake Adams drove in the first run of the evening, although not in the way he expected to because he got hit by a pitch. Papierski scored when Corey Julks grounded into a force out. Julks then stole second and then Jake Meyers ripped a two-run double. Jonathan Arauz drew a walk and Miguelangel Sierra landed the haymaker in the form of a three-run home run. Beer went 2-4 and hit an RBI single in the 4th inning. Julks (RBI, R, 2 SB) and Papierski (2B, 2 R) had three hits apiece.

Chad Donato has stumbled out of the gate in 2019 but he turned in his best performance of the season by allowing three hits and striking out eight over five shutout innings. J.P. France tagged in for 3.2 innings and allowed a run on six hits, walked one, and struck out four. Tommy DeJuneas got a fly ball out to end the game.

Yohan Ramirez faces Michael Baumann in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 8, Peoria 0

The Banditos busted out for eight runs Tuesday afternoon after getting shut out three times in their previous four contests, so hopefully this signifies the start of a breakout.

Austin Hansen and R.J. Freure also turned in stellar performances on the mound as they combined for a one-hitter. Hansen walked three and struck out five over five innings and Freure finished it off by allowing a hit, walking two, and striking out five over the last four innings.

Scott Schreiber scored the first run of the day on an error following a David Hensley single in the 2nd inning. Hensley and Jonathan Lacroix hit back-to-back solo homers in the 4th. Trey Dawson ripped an RBI double in the 6th and then Quad Cities got a little more insurance in the 9th inning.

Austin Dennis led off the 9th with a single. He then stole second and scored on a Jeremy Peña single. Schreiber hit an RBI single to bring in Enmanuel Valdez and then a wild pitch allowed him and Peña to advance a base. Lacroix hit a sac fly and Hensley capped off the day with an RBI single. Everyone in the Banditos' lineup had a hit in this game; Hensley finished with four, while Dawson had two.

Nivaldo Rodríguez will start the series finale. He'll face Cole Aker at 6:35.

One team had their game halted... the other three all lost.

Round Rock and Memphis was suspended

Due to severe weather. This game was 0-0 in the bottom of the 2nd when play was suspended. They'll complete this game on May 27, during Round Rock's next visit to Nashville.

The Express will head to Memphis to start a four-game series with the Redbirds. Cionel Pérez will take on Alex Reyes at 7:05.

Amarillo 8, Corpus Christi 4

The Sod Poodles doubled up the Hooks as J.B. Bukauskas' early-season struggles continued.

Bukauskas only lasted 2.1 innings and allowed six runs (three inherited runners charged to him), three hits, walked five, and struck out one. Brett Daniels was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and went 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on a homer, four other hits, walking two, and striking out six. Brendan Feldmann struck out two in a 1-2-3 8th.

Granden Goetzman opened the scoring with an RBI ground-rule double in the 3rd inning and Josh Rojas hit a two-run single. Abraham Toro hit a sac fly in the 5th.

Well, the Mudcats ruined the grand opening of SEGRA Stadium by scoring twice in the top of the 9th to break a 5-5 tie.

Enoli Paredes had the honor of throwing the first pitch ever at the Woodpeckers' new home. He went four innings and the one run that he allowed came on a homer. Paredes allowed two other hits, walked two, and struck out nine. Hunter Martin got the 5th and he allowed a two-run double, walked three, and struck out one. César Rosado came on for the 6th, but he walked the only man he faced before having to come out of the game with an injury. The walk eventually turned into an unearned run. Leovanny Rodriguez took ownership of the 6th on his way to throwing 3.1 innings. He allowed two runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on two hits and struck out five. Carlos Sanabria got the final two outs of the 9th, both via strikeout, but he also allowed the go-ahead two-run home run to Tristen Lutz. One of the runs on the homer was charged to Leovanny's account.

Seth Beer put Fayetteville on the board when he smacked a solo homer in the 4th inning and Jake Meyers added another run when he ripped an RBI double later in the frame. Colton Shaver led off the 7th with a homer and Miguelangel Sierra drove in a run with a base hit later in the inning. Jonathan Arauz lashed an RBI double in the 8th. Meyers finished 2-4 on the evening.

Cristian Javier will start game two of this series. He'll face Dylan File at 7:00 Eastern.

Kane County 2, Quad Cities 0

This series will be played at Dozer Park in Peoria as the River Bandits still don't have access to Modern Woodmen Park.

The Banditos got a triple from Marty Costes and singles from Andy Piñeda and Trey Dawson. Yep... that was it.

Nivaldo Rodríguez didn't pitch terribly, but the absence of run support meant that he had to take the loss. He allowed two runs on six hits, walked one, and struck out four in five innings of work. R.J. Freure allowed just one hit, walked two, and struck out a career-high nine in 3.2 innings of relief. Jojanse Torres issued a walk and got the final out of the 9th.

Game 1: Round Rock 7, New Orleans 5

RR home runs: Yordan Alvarez 3 (3; solo in 2nd, solo in 4th, solo in 6th); Derek Fisher 2 (2; 2-run in 6th, 2-run in 7th)

Yordan Alvarez and D.J. Fisher took it upon themselves to shoulder Round Rock's offensive load in the first game of the twin bill.

Alvarez opened the scoring with his first solo home run in the 2nd inning. He launched another solo shot in the 4th and his third and final homer came right after Fisher's second two-run homer in the 6th. Fisher's second two-run blast came in the 7th and turned out to be the game-winning hit. Yes, all of their hits were home runs.

Akeem Bostick went three innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits (two-run homer) and walked three. Ryan Hartman tagged in for the last four innings, allowing a run on two hits, walking one, and striking out three.

Game 2: New Orleans 2, Round Rock 1

RR home runs: Derek Fisher (3, solo in 1st)

Both teams had one scoring play and they were both home runs. New Orleans' home run, however, yielded more runs.

Fisher led off game two with a homer... and that was all the scoring that the Express could muster up in this one.

Corbin Martin went 4.1 innings and the two runs he allowed came on a home run hit by Matt Snyder in the 2nd inning. He allowed one other hit, walked three, and fanned three. Brendan McCurry allowed a hit and struck out two in 1.2 innings.

Cionel Pérez makes his 2019 debut in game four of this season-opening series in the Crescent City. He'll take on Joe Gunkel at 1:00.

Corpus Christi 2, Amarillo 1 in 10 innings

CC home runs: None.

Both teams could only get three hits in this game, but fortunately, the Hooks had more in the column that matters most.

Brandon Bailey struck out three over three hitless innings... but he also issued four walks. Justin Ferrell was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and allowed a couple of hits and struck out in two innings. Brendan Feldmann followed with 2.1 innings and struck out two. He also had an unearned run charged to him when Ronel Blanco allowed an RBI single. That hit was the only one that Blanco surrendered in 2.2 innings; he also issued a walk and struck out six.

Lorenzo Quintana opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 2nd. Stephen Wrenn started off the 10th in scoring position and Chuckie Robinson joined him on the bases after getting plunked. J.J. Matijevic went down on strikes for the first out, but Josh Rojas came through with the winning hit, poking one through the infield to bring Wrenn home. Rojas also drew a couple of walks and stole a base.

Tyler Ivey takes the mound for the series finale and he'll go up against Lake Bachar at 2:15. For every Sunday home game this season, the Hooks will wear their Raspas uniforms.

Game 1: Potomac 5, Fayetteville 1

The P-Nats jumped out to an early lead and kept the Woodpeckers' bats in check.

Seth Beer finished 2-3 and his RBI single in the 5th represented Fayetteville's only scoring play in game one. Colton Shaver also went 2-3.

J.P. France went five innings and allowed five runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out two. Leovanny Rodríguez worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 6th.

Game 2: Potomac 5, Fayetteville 3

Fayetteville home runs: Scott Manea (1, 2-run in 4th)

Potomac walked off with the win and the doubleheader sweep in game two.

Scott Manea launched a two-run home run in the 4th, his first as a member of the Astros organization. Jake Adams put the Woodpeckers in front with a sac fly in the 5th. Manea and Bryan de la Cruz both finished 2-3 in game two.

Edgardo Sandoval went 3.2 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits, walked one, and struck out five. Yohan Ramirez got the last out of the 4th and got through the 5th and 6th innings without much trouble, but the final out is always the toughest. He left with runners on the corners and two outs before giving way to Tommy DeJuneas, who got tagged for a three-run home run by Alex Dunlap on the very first pitch of his outing. Two runs were charged to Ramirez.

Chad Donato will face Nick Raquet to close out the series. First pitch is at 1:05 Eastern.

Game 1: Burlington 3, Quad Cities 0

The Banditos were held to just two hits in the first game of their doubleheader: a couple of singles from César Salazar and Jonathan Lacroix.

Cody Deason couldn't get out of the 2nd inning as he allowed three runs (two inherited runners charged to him), a single, walked four, and struck out three in 1.2 innings. Humberto Castellanos was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen in game one and the one hit he allowed in his 3.1 innings was a two-run double that got charged to Deason. Castellanos struck out three. Devin Conn allowed a hit and struck out five over two scoreless innings.

Game 2: Burlington 1, Quad Cities 0

L- Brett Daniels (0-1)

QC home runs: None.

Ugh. Not only did the Banditos get swept in their doubleheader, they were kept off the scoreboard in both games. They had a couple of half-chances in this game but again, they couldn't push anything across.

Jonathan Lacroix hit a one-out triple in the 4th but he was cut down at home trying to score on a David Hensley grounder to short. Lacroix's triple was Quad Cities' only extra-base hit over the two games.

R.J. Freure allowed a hit, walked three, and struck out seven in four innings. Jordyn Adams hit a walk-off solo homer off of Brett Daniels with one out in the 7th. In 2.1 innings, Daniels allowed three other hits, walked one, and struck out four.

Brett Conine gets the start for Quad Cities to wrap up the series. He'll go up against Luis Alvarado at 2:00.
