Sorry for the lack of content lately, I was under the weather for most of the second half of last week. Football is also starting, but I've never been less excited for a Texans season until now.

New Orleans 2, Round Rock 1

W- Joe Gunkel (7-2)

RR home runs: Lorenzo Quintana (17, solo in 5th)

The E-Train was derailed in their bid to sweep this series. This game marked the final meeting between Round Rock and the New Orleans franchise, which will relocate to Wichita, Kansas, next year.

Lorenzo Quintana led off the 5th with a homer and that was Round Rock's only scoring play of the day.

New level? No problem. Cristian Javier did what he's done all season as he allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out eight over six shutout innings in his Triple-A debut. Josh James allowed a run on two hits and struck out one in the 7th and Brendan McCurry allowed a run on four hits and fanned three in the final two innings.

The Express will now kick off a crucial four-game series against San Antonio... who happens to be trailing them by one game in the PCL's American Southern division. José Urquidy will start game one and he'll take on Shelby Miller at 7:05.

Tulsa 6, Corpus Christi 2

CC home runs: None.

The Drillers got three in the opening inning to send the Hooks to a loss in their final road game of 2019.

Chad Donato and Brett Conine both pitched four innings. They both allowed five hits... but their results differed just a bit. Donato allowed six runs (five earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on five hits (solo homer), walked three, and struck out four. Conine got the last four innings (Donato failed to record an out in the 5th) and technically turned in a scoreless outing but one of the runners that he inherited from Donato scored. Conine also walked one and struck out two.

Bryan de la Cruz drove in both of the Hooks' runs; he hit an RBI single in the 4th and added a sac fly in the 6th. J.J. Matijevic went 3-4 with a double and scored on de la Cruz's base hit; he also stole a couple of bases, giving him seven on the year.

Corpus finishes off 2019 with an eight-game homestand. First up, four with the Arkansas Travelers. Brandon Bailey takes on Justin Dunn at 6:15.

Fayetteville 9, Frederick 7

W- Cionel Pérez (3-1)

Fayetteville home runs: None.

Things escalated late as the Keys scored a touchdown and got the extra point in the 7th. The Woodpeckers would respond with two more field goals in the bottom of the 8th to retake control.

Parker Mushinski turned in a bare minimum quality start (6 IP, 3 ER), allowing four hits and striking out six. One of the runs that got charged to Mushinski was an inherited runner that scored. Humberto Castellanos allowed four runs (one earned) of his own on four hits, walked one, and struck out one after he took ownership of the 7th. Cionel Pérez allowed two hits and struck out one over the final two innings to get the victory.

Fayetteville opened the scoring in the 1st with a couple of RBI singles from Chandler Taylor and David Hensley and they got another run in the 2nd thanks to Jeremy Peña's RBI single. This was the Woodpeckers' last scoring play until they went off in the 8th.

Michael Papierski singled to lead off the 8th and Scott Manea joined him on the bases after getting plunked. Miguelangel Sierra struck out, but Scott Schreiber kicked things off by ripping an RBI double. Peña walked to load the bases for Cal Stevenson, who reached on an error that allowed Manea to score. Ross Adolph got plunked to bring Schreiber in and then Taylor sent everyone home with a double to restore Fayetteville's lead. Hensley finished 3-5 on the night while Taylor and Peña had two hits apiece.

The Woodpeckers will start their final road series of 2019 at 7:00 Eastern as they take on the Carolina Mudcats.

Kane County 8, Quad Cities 2

QC home runs: None.

After winning 8-2 on Saturday, the Banditos found themselves on the wrong end of that score on Sunday.

A.J. Lee drove in both Quad Cities runs with a groundout in the 5th and a double in the 7th.

Matt Ruppenthal threw four innings and allowed six runs on four hits (three-run homer), walked three, and struck out six. Joey Gonzalez was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and he allowed a run on two hits, walked one, and struck out two. Jacob Billingsley pitched the final two innings of this game and Kane County got an unearned run off of him thanks to an error in the 9th. Billingsley also hit three batters and struck out three.

R.J. Freure gets the start in game three and he'll face Luis Frias at 6:35.

Game 1: Staten Island 2, Tri-City 0

The ValleyCats were held off the board in the first game of the twinbill.

Deury Carrasco went 2-2 with a double and Korey Lee's double was Tri-City's only other hit in game one.

Jairo Lopez pitched four innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked four, and struck out eight. Peyton Plumlee was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and allowed an RBI double, walked two, and struck out three in two innings. Shea Barry struck out two in a 1-2-3 7th.

Game 2: Tri-City 6, Staten Island 5

L- Derek Craft (1-1)

TC home runs: Nate Perry 2 (11; 3-run in 3rd, solo in 6th)

The ValleyCats earned the split by walking off with the win in game two.

Nate Perry's breakout year continued as he bashed a couple of homers. He opened the scoring with a three-run blast in the 3rd and he launched a solo homer in the 6th. Preston Pavlica led off the bottom of the 7th with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored the tying run on a single from E.P. Reese. Juan Paulino followed with a single and advanced to second on defensive indifference. Luis Guerrero went down on strikes for the first out and then Perry got a free pass to first to load the bases for Korey Lee, who sent everyone home happy with a walk-off RBI single. Perry went 3-3 in game two, while Reese finished 2-3 with a double.

Christian Mejías allowed two runs, both of which were inherited runners that were charged to him, on two hits, walked three, and struck out eight in four innings of work. Yeremi Ceballos allowed a three-run homer that resulted in Mejías' two runs, two runs (one inherited runner charged to him, one run was charged to him on the homer), walked one, and struck out four in two innings. Michael Horrell allowed a run of his own on two hits and struck out one in the 7th; one of the runs was charged to Ceballos.

Hunter Brown will start game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Mets 8, GCL Astros 2

W- Zachary Hammer (2-1)
L- Francis Martes (0-1)

GCL home runs: None.

The Mets jumped out to a 6-0 lead and won rather handily despite the Palm Beach 'Stros getting ten hits.

Abraham Castillo hit an RBI single in the 5th and an error on the play allowed Rolando Espinosa to score another run. Castillo, Sean Mendoza, and Yorbin Ceuta all finished with two hits on the day.

Francis Martes allowed two runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on two hits, walked two, and struck out five in 1.2 innings. Fredy Medina walked two in 1.1 scoreless innings, although he did allow one of Martes' runners to score. Elián Rodriguez got the 4th but got roughed up, allowing four runs on two hits, walking three, and striking out two. Alex Palmer got the last out of the 4th and he wound up going 3.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and striking out six. Kevin Dickey struck out one in a 1-2-3 8th.

Getting to Know Enoli Paredes and Cristian Javier

Right-handers Enoli Paredes and Cristian Javier of the Corpus Christi Hooks have a lot in common. They are both from the Dominican Republic. Both were signed for bargain basement prices well after their original eligibility. Both have rapidly ascended the prospect rankings this year. (On MLB Pipeline, Javier went from unrated prior to the season to #10 currently while Paredes rose from a pre-season ranking of #28 to a current ranking of #14.)

And both have had very successful seasons. Through this point in the season, Paredes has a 2.64 ERA and a 0.981 WHIP in 20 appearances (11 starts) between High A Fayetteville and AA Corpus Christi (38 BB:121 K in 88.2 IP). Javier has some eye-popping numbers as well. He has a 1.75 ERA and a 0.984 WHIP in 24 appearances (16 starts) between Fayetteville and Corpus Christi and he leads the Astros minor league affiliates with his 154 strikeouts (55 walks) in 102.2 innings of work.

Corpus Christi Pitching Coach Graham Johnson highlighted some of their differences, "They're both extremely exciting to watch for different reasons. Enoli's just kind of a flamboyant personality. You actually can see it come out in his mechanics and his movements on the mound and even his in-between pitch movements. It's got a little bit of flair to it, a little bit of drama that comes with it. Electric arm, electric body, electric movement, electric stuff. That's kind of the perfect word I would use to describe him. You look at him (Paredes is listed as 5'11" and 168 pounds), and you don't really expect this big time power stuff to be coming at you."

Johnson continued, "Where Javier, it's almost you enjoy watching him more because of results. I don't want to say he always does the same thing, but he's super consistent in his attack in terms of what he's trying to do and it's very successful in terms of that. Both are very, very fun pitchers to watch and (both) go about their business in a very good way."

As Johnson mentioned, Paredes does have a flamboyent personality while Javier is more on the quiet side, but Paredes's personality is infectious and everyone around him gets caught up in that energy, including the quieter Javier. They are both a lot of fun to watch, both on and off the field.

Fayetteville sweep!

Albuquerque 6, Round Rock 5

RR home runs: Jamie Ritchie (5, solo in 7th), Drew Ferguson (10, 2-run in 7th)

Hard to believe that the E-Train had a no-hitter through seven innings. The Isotopes scored five in the 8th to tie and walked off with the win in the 9th.

Rogelio Armenteros walked four and struck out four over 6.1 shutout and no-hit innings. Cy Sneed got an inning-ending double play after coming on for Armenteros in the 7th. Brad Peacock and Brendan McCurry had rough nights at the office.

Garrett Stubbs ripped an RBI double in the 5th and he came around to score on an error following a Jamie Ritchie single. Ritchie smacked a solo homer in the 7th and Drew Ferguson launched a two-run homer later in the inning. Everyone in the Round Rock lineup recorded a hit; Ritchie finished with two.

Framber Valdez goes up against Jeff Hoffman in game three. First pitch is at 6:35 Mountain.

Corpus Christi 8, Midland 2

The Hooks bashed three home runs on Sunday as they avoided the sweep in West Texas.

Cristian Javier, well... he continued to do what he's done all season, namely, not give up hits. He allowed one hit, walked three, and struck out eight over five shutout innings. Bryan Abreu pitched the last four innings and he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked four, and struck out six. Abreu crossed the century mark in strikeouts in this outing; he's the 11th pitcher in the system to reach 100 strikeouts this season.

Osvaldo Duarte opened the scoring when he ripped an RBI double in the 5th. Aníbal Sierra added a sac fly and then Jacob Meyers launched a two-run homer. Jake Adams led off the 7th with a homer and Colton Shaver put the finishing touches on this game by whacking a three-run homer in the 8th. Everyone in the Corpus lineup recorded a hit; Adams went 2-4 and scored twice. He scored the other run on Sierra's sac fly in the 5th.

The Hooks will begin a four-game series with Frisco at 6:15.

Fayetteville 4, Winston-Salem 2

W- Jojanse Torres (9-0)
L- Taylor Varnell (0-1)
S- Humberto Castellanos (5)

Fayetteville home runs: None.

The Woodpeckers earned the sweep thanks to a three-run 5th that gave them the lead.

Chandler Taylor opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 3rd inning. Scott Schreiber provided the decisive hit in the 5th, a two-run triple that turned into a Little League home run. Corey Julks finished 3-4 with a couple of doubles and scored on Schreiber's triple. David Hensley went 2-4.

Jojanse Torres went five innings and allowed two runs on five hits, walked three, and struck out three. César Rosado was the first man out of the Fayetteville bullpen and he went 2.2 innings, allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out four. Humberto Castellanos got the four-out save, striking out one.

Fayetteville has Monday off. They'll start a three-game set with Down East on Tuesday.

Quad Cities 3, Wisconsin 2

W- José Bravo (6-5)
L- Tyler Gillies (3-2)

QC home runs: Oscar Campos (2, solo in 6th)

The Banditos edged out the Timber Rattlers behind a fine relief performance from José Bravo.

Alex McKenna opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 5th. After Wisconsin took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the 5th, Oscar Campos tied the game with a solo blast in the 6th. Orlando Marquez put Quad Cities back in front with a sac fly in the 8th. McKenna finished 2-5 on the afternoon.

Brett Daniels went 4.2 innings and he allowed two runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out three. Bravo stranded the two runners he inherited from Daniels to end the 5th and he went on to throw 4.1 scoreless, allowing a hit and striking out three.

Guadalupe Chavez will get the start in the series finale as the Banditos look for the sweep. He'll go against Adam Hill at 12:05.

Tri-City 5, Connecticut 1

The ValleyCats stunned the Tigers as they scored four in the 8th and tacked on one more in the 9th for good measure.

Juan Pablo Lopez allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out two in five innings. Valente Bellozo shut it down in the last four innings as he allowed just one hit and struck out eight.

A.J. Lee got plunked and Nate Perry walked to lead off the 8th. Jordan Brewer came in to pinch-run for Perry; he and Lee both advanced on C.J. Stubbs' flyout and then Korey Lee got a free pass to first to load the bases for Joe Perez, who promptly sent everyone home with a triple. Perez trotted home on a single from Luis Guerrero. Luis Santana capped off the evening when he launched a homer to lead off the 9th. Santana finished 3-4 in this one.

The ValleyCats and Tigers will continue this series at 7:05 Eastern.

Alfredi Jimenez struck out four over two perfect innings and Alex Palmer walked one and struck out one in a scoreless 8th.

Gerry Castillo finished 3-4 and he scored the GCLstros' only run of the day on a double from Rolando Espinosa in the 5th inning.

I'm sorry for the lack of updates recently... I just needed a little time off for personal reasons. Also, the constant churning out of recaps started to wear me down a bit. Good news though... I'm hopping back in the saddle today.

Round Rock 6, Sacramento 3

RR home runs: Nick Tanielu (13, solo in 6th)

Both teams scored in three separate innings but the E-Train put up a couple of crooked numbers to swing this game in their favor.

Framber Valdez went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out eight. Cy Sneed, Dean Deetz, and Ronel Blanco all pitched an inning to finish things off. Sneed allowed a solo homer and struck out two in the 7th, Deetz allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless 8th, and Blanco struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th to earn the save.

Round Rock turned a bases-loaded situation in the 2nd into three runs as Jamie Ritchie put them on the board with a sac fly, Alex De Goti hit an RBI single, and Abraham Toro got plunked with the bases loaded. Nick Tanielu smacked a solo homer in the 6th and Round Rock got two more in the 7th on a Jack Mayfield RBI single and a Kyle Tucker sac fly. Ritchie was the only person to go hitless but he still had his sac fly.

Round Rock will spend Tuesday traveling to El Paso, where they'll kick off a three-game series on Wednesday.

Corpus Christi 2, Frisco 0

CC home runs: Jonathan Arauz (9, solo in 2nd)

Jonathan Arauz had a big night at the plate while Bryan Abreu and Cristian Javier shut the Roughriders down on the mound.

Arauz opened the scoring when he launched a solo homer in the 2nd inning. He finished 3-4 and drove in Corpus Christi's other run with an RBI single in the 7th. With his home run, Arauz has set a new career-high with nine home runs on the year. Bryan de la Cruz and Jacob Meyers had two hits apiece.

Abreu allowed a hit, walked four, and struck out five over five shutout innings and Javier completed the shutout by allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out eight over the final four innings.

Yohan Ramirez goes up against Ronald Herrera in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Fayetteville was off

The Woodpeckers will kick off a three-game set with Wilmington at 7:00 Eastern.

Brett Daniels went five innings and allowed three runs on four hits (two-run homer), walked two, and struck out three. Hunter Martin allowed a hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings.

José Bravo will get the start as the Banditos look to avoid a sweep. First pitch is at noon.

Tri-City 3, Lowell 1

The ValleyCats started off a new series in victorious fashion as they scored three runs in the final two innings to walk off with the win.

Juanrael Paulino, who was featured in the "Watch This Space" section of this week's Farm Report, tied the game by ripping an RBI double in the 8th and Joe Perez walked it off by smacking a two-run homer in the 9th. Perez also stole a base, his third on the year.

Kyle Serrano worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 1st inning. Edgardo Sandoval took over for five scoreless and he allowed five hits, walked two, and struck out five. Cole McDonald got the last three innings and he allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out five.

Game two of this series is at 7:00 Eastern as Valente Bellozo will take on Bryan Lucas.

GCL Astros 4, GCL Marlins 2

GCL home runs: None.

This game was called in the top of the 9th due to rain. The Palm Beach 'Stros got four in the 1st and those runs held up in the end.

Tyler Krabbe came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the 1st inning and he cleared them with a double. He wound up scoring on a wild pitch. José Álvarez and Franklin Pinto both finished 2-4 on the afternoon.

Fredy Medina struck out one in a 1-2-3 1st inning. Franny Cobos was the first man out of the GCLStros bullpen and he allowed an unearned run on three hits, walked one, and struck out two in four innings of work. Brayan de Paula walked two and struck out three in two innings and Diosmerky Taveras allowed an unearned run on a single and struck out one in the 9th.

DSL Marlins 2, DSL Astros 0

The Dominican 'Stros held the Marlins to two hits but they were also kept off the scoreboard.

Jherson Pereira struck out six over five near-perfect innings; he faced one batter over the minimum due to an error. Jaime Melendez allowed two runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out two over the final three innings.

The Express had the tying run on base in the bottom of the 9th but couldn't push it across.

Derek Fisher launched a solo homer in the 8th for Round Rock's only run. Taylor Jones finished 2-3.

Carson LaRue pitched 6.1 innings and allowed two runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out two. Brendan McCurry struck out three over 1.2 perfect innings and Reymin Guduan worked around a couple of hits in the 9th to strike out the side.

Ryan Hartman will get the start in the opener of a three-game series in Iowa. He'll take on Colin Rea at 7:08.

The Hooks started things off with a five-run 1st inning and Cristian Javier... continued to do Cristian Javier things.

Bryan Abreu pitched five innings and allowed two runs on five hits, walked one, and struck out six. Javier got the last four innings and he walked two and struck out nine without allowing a run or a hit.

Granden Goetzman hit an RBI groundout to open the scoring in the 1st. Seth Beer scored on an error that allowed Lorenzo Quintana to reach and then Stephen Wrenn launched a three-run homer. Beer scored another run in the 3rd when J.J. Matijevic hit a sac fly and then Lorenzo Quintana smacked a solo homer. Osvaldo Duarte scored on an error in the 4th and Quintana capped off the scoring with an RBI single in the 9th. Quintana finished 3-5 on the night, while Matijevic and Wrenn had two hits apiece.

Brett Adcock will go against Ofreidy Gomez in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:05.

Lynchburg 7, Fayetteville 4

It was not a banner night for the Woodpeckers on defense as they were charged with five errors in this game. They also loaded the bases three times but each time they could only get one run on a bases-loaded walk.

Luis Garcia went 3.2 innings and allowed four runs (two earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on five hits, walked four, and struck out six. Humberto Castellanos allowed an unearned run of his own on two hits, walked one, and struck out three in 2.1 innings. Brett Conine got the last three innings and he allowed two runs on five hits, walked one, and struck out five.

Ross Adolph opened the scoring by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the 1st inning. Michael Papierski walked in a run in the 3rd and another one in the 7th and Jake Adams hit an RBI single in the 8th. Adolph drew four walks in this game. Adams went 2-2 and walked three times.

Fayetteville welcomes the Carolina Mudcats to SEGRA for a three-game series starting at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 3, Peoria 0

Both teams had six hits but the Banditos had all the runs.

Brett Daniels allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out four over seven shutout frames and Garrett Gayle walked one and struck out two over the final two innings to get the save.

Grae Kessinger hit his first home run as a pro in the 5th inning and Ramiro Rodríguez hit a two-run single in the 6th inning. Carlos Machado went 2-3 and scored on Rodríguez's single.

José Bravo faces Logan Gragg in the series finale. First pitch is at 6:35.

Brooklyn 9, Tri-City 4

The Cyclones blew the ValleyCats away by jumping out to a 9-0 lead after the first two innings.

C.J. Stubbs put Tri-City on the board with an RBI groundout in the 4th inning. A.J. Lee hit an RBI groundout in the 6th and Nate Perry ripped an RBI double. Perry scored on a passed ball in the 9th.

Edgardo Sandoval and Danny Cody had to bear the brunt of Brooklyn's early assault. Cole McDonald restored order as he walked one and struck out four over four scoreless innings. Peyton Plumlee worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 8th.

The ValleyCats will start a three-game series with Connecticut at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Astros 2, GCL Nationals 1

The Palm Beach 'Stros scored in more innings than their complex mates.

Franklin Pinto finished 3-3 and he was involved in both scoring plays; he hit an RBI single in the 2nd and scored on José Mendoza's RBI single in the 5th. Mendoza finished 2-3 on the afternoon.

Alfredi Jimenez allowed two hits and struck out three over two scoreless innings. Alex Palmer and Julio Robaina followed with three innings apiece; Palmer allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out three, while Robaina allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four in a scoreless outing. Jervic Chavez worked around a couple of walks in the 9th to close out the game; he struck out two.

The GCL squad will head to St. Lucie to take on the Mets at noon Eastern.

The Dominican 'Stros busted this one open with six in the 4th.

Yohander Martinez stole second in the 1st inning and an error on the play allowed Andrés Monzón to score the first run of the day. Junior Marte hit a bunt single in the 2nd and another error allowed Freddy Guilamo to score. They loaded the bases to lead off the 4th and it all went downhill from there. Ricardo Balogh, Marte, and Roilan Machandy all drew bases-loaded walks. Monzón hit a two-run single and Machandy scored when Martinez grounded into a double play. Marte finished 2-2 on the day.

José Nodal pitched three innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits, walked four, and struck out two. Miguel Padilla walked one and fanned two over two scoreless. Danny Subero allowed three runs on five hits, walked three, and struck out three in 3.2 innings and Cristofer Mezquita got the final out of the game.

Quad Cities sweep!

Round Rock 9, Omaha 8 (10 innings)

The E-Train fought back from an 8-1 deficit to walk off with a victory. After dropping the first game of this series, Round Rock took the next four.

Alex De Goti put the Express on the board with a sac fly in the 4th inning. The Storm Chasers went off for four in the top of the 5th to take an 8-1 lead but Taylor Jones whacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the 5th to help spark a comeback effort. Round Rock got three more in the 6th to get back into it as Jamie Ritchie ripped an RBI double and Chas McCormick followed with a two-run double. McCormick tied it in the 8th by smacking a home run to lead off the inning.

Garrett Stubbs started off the 10th in scoring position and moved to third on Ritchie's fly ball out to right. McCormick coaxed a walk and then Derek Fisher was intentionally walked to load the bases for Jack Mayfield, who picked the perfect time to snap an 0-5 night as he laced a ball to left field to complete the comeback. Jones and McCormick both had two hits and three runs batted in. Fisher and Ritchie also finished with two hits on the night.

Akeem Bostick bore the brunt of Omaha's assault as he allowed four home runs, including a grand slam, in his five innings. Fortunately, the bullpen picked him up with five scoreless innings to close things out. Joe Smith allowed a hit and struck out two in the 6th. Brendan McCurry and Tanner Duncan pitched two innings apiece with identical lines; they both walked one and struck out two during their time on the mound.

The Express will head up to Oklahoma City for their final series before the Triple-A All-Star break. There's a doubleheader on Friday to make up a game that was postponed on April 30. Rogelio Armenteros will start game one and he'll face Daniel Corcino at 7:05.

Frisco 11, Corpus Christi 10

CC home runs: Seth Beer (9, 18 season; solo in 2nd), Lorenzo Quintana (6, 8 season; grand slam in 9th)

The Hooks scored in more innings than the Roughriders did, but unfortunately, one of the two innings in which Frisco scored involved seven runs. Corpus got a grand slam to cut the deficit to one run, but that was as close as they could get.

Cristian Javier continued his habit of being unhittable as he allowed just one hit, walked three, and struck out eight over five shutout innings. J.B. Bukauskas and Layne Henderson... didn't fare as well as Javier did. Riley Ferrell issued a couple of walks and struck out one in a scoreless 9th.

Seth Beer led off the 2nd with a homer and Aníbal Sierra ripped a two-run double later in the inning. Sierra drove in another run with a groundout in the 4th. Beer added an RBI single to his ledger in the 7th and Stephen Wrenn hit a sac fly. The Hooks loaded the bases to lead off the 9th but were in danger of leaving the inning empty-handed until Lorenzo Quintana launched a grand slam while they down to their final out. Unfortunately, they couldn't get the tying run on base.

Beer and Quintana both finished 4-5 on the night. Colton Shaver went 2-4 and both of his hits were doubles.

The Hooks return home to start a four-game set with Midland tonight at 6:15. Yohan Ramirez will start game one.

Salem 2, Fayetteville 1

W- Andrew Politi (4-1)
L- Shawn Dubin (2-4, 3-4 season)

Fayetteville home runs: Jake Adams (13, solo in 4th)

The Woodpeckers got swept in front of the home crowd. The end of June and the start of July has not been a kind stretch for Fayetteville as they've lost eight of their last nine.

Jake Adams clubbed a solo homer in the 4th for Fayetteville's only run in this game. Jonathan Arauz went 2-4 and was the only player on either side to finish with a multi-hit game.

Brett Conine rebounded nicely from his worst outing of the season as he allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out seven over five shutout frames. Shawn Dubin wasn't terrible in his four innings, but he got nipped for a couple of runs. Dubin allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out six.

The Woodpeckers will look to rebound as they begin a three-game series in Winston-Salem. Leovanny Rodríguez will start game one and he'll take on Jonathan Stiever at 6:30 Eastern.

Quad Cities 4, Wisconsin 0

W- Felipe Tejada (4-0)
L- Scott Sunitsch (6-8)

QC home runs: Austin Dennis (1, 2-run in 3rd)

The Banditos earned the sweep thanks to a stellar pitching performance; Felipe Tejada and Devin Conn joined forces to throw a two-hit shutout.

Tejada threw seven shutout innings, allowing two hits, walking three, and striking out eight. Conn finished the shutout by striking out two over two scoreless; he faced two over the minimum because he hit two batters.

Austin Dennis is probably better known for his speed on the bases, but he opened the scoring by launching a two-run homer in the 3rd. Quad Cities got two more in the 6th on a pair of RBI singles from David Hensley and Jonathan Lacroix. Hensley, Oscar Campos, and Alex McKenna all finished with two hits on the night.

The Banditos are home and they'll start a two-game series with Beloit tonight at 6:35. Cody Deason will get the start and he'll face Aiden McIntyre.

Staten Island 5, Tri-City 2

W- Abismael Villaman (1-0)
L- Guadalupe Chavez (0-1)

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats were kept in check on offense as they dropped the series.

They spoiled the shutout with a couple of runs in the 9th as Nathan Perry scored on a wild pitch and Grae Kessinger scored on Luis Santana's groundout. Perry went 2-2 with a double.

Lupe Chavez went 3.2 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits (two-run homer), walked one, and struck out five. Juan Pablo Lopez got 4.1 innings and he allowed two runs on three hits, walked two, and struck out eight.

The ValleyCats are back home and they'll begin a three-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades in a rematch of last year's NYPL Championship Series. First pitch is at 6:30 Eastern.

Miguel Palma's one-man rally spurred the Dominican 'Stros to a victory.

Jeremy Molero and Ricardo León pitched four innings apiece. Molero allowed three hits, one of which was a solo homer, walked two, and struck out seven. León allowed three runs, two of which came on a double, walked five, and struck out seven. José Betances worked around a couple of hits and a bases-loading walk to get the save, striking out two in the 9th.

Palma found himself involved in all but one scoring play for the Dominican 'Stros. He reached on an error in the 2nd that allowed Omar Díaz to score. He launched a two-run homer in the 7th that cut the deficit to one run and then he put them in front with a two-run single in the 8th. Sebastian Grullón tacked on some insurance with an RBI single. Palma and Grullón both had two hits on the day.

The Dominican 'Stros will travel to the Royals complex for a game at 11:30 AM Atlantic.
