I'm sorry for the lack of updates recently... I just needed a little time off for personal reasons. Also, the constant churning out of recaps started to wear me down a bit. Good news though... I'm hopping back in the saddle today.

Round Rock 6, Sacramento 3

W- Framber Valdez (3-2)

RR home runs: Nick Tanielu (13, solo in 6th)

Both teams scored in three separate innings but the E-Train put up a couple of crooked numbers to swing this game in their favor.

Framber Valdez went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out eight. Cy Sneed, Dean Deetz, and Ronel Blanco all pitched an inning to finish things off. Sneed allowed a solo homer and struck out two in the 7th, Deetz allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless 8th, and Blanco struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th to earn the save.

Round Rock turned a bases-loaded situation in the 2nd into three runs as Jamie Ritchie put them on the board with a sac fly, Alex De Goti hit an RBI single, and Abraham Toro got plunked with the bases loaded. Nick Tanielu smacked a solo homer in the 6th and Round Rock got two more in the 7th on a Jack Mayfield RBI single and a Kyle Tucker sac fly. Ritchie was the only person to go hitless but he still had his sac fly.

Round Rock will spend Tuesday traveling to El Paso, where they'll kick off a three-game series on Wednesday.

Corpus Christi 2, Frisco 0

W- Bryan Abreu (7-2)

CC home runs: Jonathan Arauz (9, solo in 2nd)

Jonathan Arauz had a big night at the plate while Bryan Abreu and Cristian Javier shut the Roughriders down on the mound.

Arauz opened the scoring when he launched a solo homer in the 2nd inning. He finished 3-4 and drove in Corpus Christi's other run with an RBI single in the 7th. With his home run, Arauz has set a new career-high with nine home runs on the year. Bryan de la Cruz and Jacob Meyers had two hits apiece.

Abreu allowed a hit, walked four, and struck out five over five shutout innings and Javier completed the shutout by allowing two hits, walking one, and striking out eight over the final four innings.

Yohan Ramirez goes up against Ronald Herrera in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:05.

Fayetteville was off

The Woodpeckers will kick off a three-game set with Wilmington at 7:00 Eastern.

Kane County 3, Quad Cities 0

Wilyer Abreu had two the Banditos' three hits in this one.

Brett Daniels went five innings and allowed three runs on four hits (two-run homer), walked two, and struck out three. Hunter Martin allowed a hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings.

José Bravo will get the start as the Banditos look to avoid a sweep. First pitch is at noon.

Tri-City 3, Lowell 1

TC home runs: Joe Perez (3, walk-off 2-run in 9th)

The ValleyCats started off a new series in victorious fashion as they scored three runs in the final two innings to walk off with the win.

Juanrael Paulino, who was featured in the "Watch This Space" section of this week's Farm Report, tied the game by ripping an RBI double in the 8th and Joe Perez walked it off by smacking a two-run homer in the 9th. Perez also stole a base, his third on the year.

Kyle Serrano worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 1st inning. Edgardo Sandoval took over for five scoreless and he allowed five hits, walked two, and struck out five. Cole McDonald got the last three innings and he allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out five.

Game two of this series is at 7:00 Eastern as Valente Bellozo will take on Bryan Lucas.

GCL Astros 4, GCL Marlins 2

GCL home runs: None.

This game was called in the top of the 9th due to rain. The Palm Beach 'Stros got four in the 1st and those runs held up in the end.

Tyler Krabbe came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the 1st inning and he cleared them with a double. He wound up scoring on a wild pitch. José Álvarez and Franklin Pinto both finished 2-4 on the afternoon.

Fredy Medina struck out one in a 1-2-3 1st inning. Franny Cobos was the first man out of the GCLStros bullpen and he allowed an unearned run on three hits, walked one, and struck out two in four innings of work. Brayan de Paula walked two and struck out three in two innings and Diosmerky Taveras allowed an unearned run on a single and struck out one in the 9th.

DSL Marlins 2, DSL Astros 0

The Dominican 'Stros held the Marlins to two hits but they were also kept off the scoreboard.

Ricardo Toro had a couple of singles while Miguel Palma singled and stole a base, his seventh of the season.

Jherson Pereira struck out six over five near-perfect innings; he faced one batter over the minimum due to an error. Jaime Melendez allowed two runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out two over the final three innings.

Let's finish up one game in Clinton and then play another!

Round Rock 5, Omaha 0

RR home runs: None.

The Express scored in just one inning but it was more than enough for them to get the victory.

All five of their runs came in the 6th as they capitalized on a bases-loaded situation. Taylor Jones scored the first run of the night on a wild pitch. After Josh Rojas hit into a fielder's choice and Drew Ferguson walked to re-load the bases, Kyle Tucker came through with a two-run single and then Ferguson scored on an errant pickoff throw. Tucker scored the final run of the night on another wild pitch. He and Jack Mayfield had two hits apiece.

Framber Valdez allowed four hits, walked three, and struck out ten over 6.2 shutout innings. Ralph Garza Jr. finished off the shutout by allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out two over the final 2.1 innings.

Brady Rodgers will be on the mound for game four and he'll take on Eric Skoglund at 7:05.

Corpus Christi 3, Frisco 1

A fine night on the mound for the Hooks as Brandon Bailey and Willy Collado combined to hold the Roughriders to just three hits.

Bailey allowed two hits, one of which was a solo homer, walked two, and struck out four in five innings of work. Collado took over for the final four innings, allowing a hit and striking out two.

Ronnie Dawson put Corpus on the board by ripping an RBI double in the 3rd and Chuckie Robinson hit a two-run single with the bases loaded in the 5th to put them in front. Dawson also stole a base, his tenth of the year.

Salem 9, Fayetteville 3

Fayetteville home runs: Scott Schreiber (5, 8 season; 3-run in 8th)

The Carolina Sox administered a beatdown to the Woodpeckers.

Scott Schreiber's three-run blast in the 8th represented Fayetteville's lone scoring play.

Chad Donato went 5.1 innings and allowed six runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on nine hits (two solo homers) and struck out six. Leovanny Rodríguez came on for 2.2 innings and he allowed three runs on three hits (two-run homer), walked one, and struck out three. Yeremi Ceballos struck out two in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Luis Garcia takes on Enmanuel De Jesus in game two. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

From Sunday: Quad Cities 2, Clinton 0

The Banditos were finally able to unlock the LumberKings pitchers and they scored the only two runs of this game after play resumed.

Quad Cities got a pair of runs in the 8th on RBI singles from Michael Wielansky and Freúdis Nova. Neither team recorded an extra-base hit in this game.

Brett Daniels allowed three hits, walked five, and struck out seven over 5.2 shutout innings. Layne Henderson got the final out of the 6th with a groundball and then struck out the first two men he faced in the 7th. Joey Gonzalez completed the shutout with 2.1 innings, walking one in the process.

Now, on to the regularly scheduled contest.

Quad Cities 7, Clinton 3

The Banditos got off to a quick start and put the LumberKings away with three in the 7th. They pounded out 15 hits in this one.

Matt Ruppenthal went five innings and allowed an RBI single, walked four, and struck out six. José Bravo got the last four innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits (solo homer) and struck out four.

Freúdis Nova opened the scoring by ripping an RBI double in the 1st and he wound up scoring on an errant throw down to third after he stole the base. He doubled again in the 3rd and scored on Oscar Campos' infield single. Nova hit his third double of the game in the 7th and came home on a single from Jonathan Lacroix. Alex McKenna lashed a two-run double later in the 7th. Freúdis, McKenna, and César Salazar all finished with three hits on the evening while Lacroix and Carlos Machado had two hits apiece.

The River Bandits will head to Wisconsin for a quick two-game series. José Alberto Rivera will take on Reese Olson in game one, which will start at 6:35.

Staten Island 9, Tri-City 0

L- Jayson Schroeder (0-2, 0-3 season)

The ValleyCats were handed a beatdown to start the week.

Korey Lee went 2-4.

It... was not Jayson Schroeder's finest hour. Miguel Figueroa was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and he allowed a solo homer, walked three, and struck out three in 2.2 innings. Christian Mejías took over for four innings and he allowed three runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out seven. Michael Horrell worked around a couple of hits to throw a scoreless 8th, striking out one.

Valente Bellozo takes the mound for game two. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Mets 9, GCL Astros 1

W- Noah Nuñez (1-0)
L- Kyle Serrano (0-1)

GCL home runs: None.

The Palm Beach 'Stros are still searching for their first win as the Mets went off for seven in the 2nd inning.

Rolando Espinosa scored their only run on a wild pitch in the 9th. Franklin Pinto was 2-2.

Kyle Serrano and Kevin Holcomb were roughed up in the first two innings. Heitor Tokar allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out five over 4.1 innings, and Elián Rodríguez allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out two in three innings.

The Palm Beach 'Stros will try for that first win again at noon Eastern when they take on the Cardinals.

DSL Astros 8, DSL Dodgers Bautista 0

The Dominican 'Stros went off in the middle innings to blow this one open.

Meanwhile, four pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Danny Subero allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out one in three innings. Juan De Los Santos got a groundout and a couple of fly ball outs in a 1-2-3 4th. José Nodal allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out three in three innings, and Luis Vega completed the shutout by striking out three over two perfect innings.

Freddy Guilamo finished 3-4 and hit an RBI single in the 4th inning. At the bottom of the order, Andrés Monzón went 2-4 with a two-run triple, scored two runs, and stole a base (10). Omar Díaz was 2-5 and hit an RBI single out of the leadoff spot.

The Dominican 'Stros will have to complete a suspended game with the Marlins before moving on to the regularly scheduled game.

Corpus sweep!

Round Rock 8, Nashville 2

RR home runs: Taylor Jones (3, 2-run in 1st)

The Express rumbled out of the gates with six runs in the opening inning and cruised to the win.

Jack Mayfield opened the scoring by ripping an RBI double and he came home on a base hit from Yordan Alvarez. Kyle Tucker ripped a double to put two men in scoring position for Nick Tanielu, who came through with a two-run single. One batter later, Taylor Jones smacked a two-run homer. Mayfield added a sac fly in the 2nd and Alvarez added another RBI single in the 8th.

Mayfield finished 3-4 and stole his first base of the season. Alvarez, Tanielu, and Jones all finished 2-4 and Myles Straw went 2-5.

Akeem Bostick went three innings and allowed two runs (both in the 1st) on four hits, walked one, and struck out five. Ryan Hartman tagged in to throw five scoreless, allowing five hits, walking two, and striking out four. Framber Valdez struck out two in a 1-2-3 9th to finish things off.

Corbin Martin will get the start as Round Rock looks for the sweep. He'll face Phillips Valdez at 6:35.

Corpus Christi 8, Frisco 0

The Hooks exacted revenge on the Roughriders by sweeping them out of Corpus Christi. They had gotten swept out of Frisco last week.

Brandon Bailey allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out three in four innings of work. Tyler Ivey took over the rest of the way and shackled Frisco over his five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight.

Ronnie Dawson wasted little time in getting the scoring started as he led off the bottom of the 1st with a homer. Osvaldo Duarte led off the 3rd with a homer. Abraham Toro grounded into a force out that scored Aníbal Sierra in the 5th and then an error in the 6th allowed Chuckie Robinson and Lorenzo Quintana to come home with two more runs. Robinson ripped an RBI double in the 7th and Toro capped off the evening by whacking a two-run homer in the 8th. Robinson and Chas McCormick had two hits apiece in this one.

Corpus will start a three-game series in Amarillo at 7:05.

Carolina 5, Fayetteville 4

Fayetteville home runs: Jonathan Arauz (1, 2-run in 5th), Miguelangel Sierra (2, solo in 5th), Bryan de la Cruz (1, solo in 8th)

The Woodpeckers held the Mudcats to just four hits in this game, but lost in the column that matters most.

All of Fayetteville's runs in this game came via the home run as Jonathan Arauz and Miguelangel Sierra went back-to-back in the 5th. Bryan de la Cruz smacked a homer to lead off the 8th, which tied the game at 4. Unfortunately, the tie would be short-lived.

Yohan Ramirez went 4.1 innings and allowed two runs, both of which were inherited runners that were charged to him. He also allowed a hit, walked three, and struck out six. J.P. France allowed three runs on three hits (solo homer), walked three, and struck out eight over the remaining 3.2 innings.

Well, the first roadtrip in the history of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers has come to a close and they finished it with a winning record. Now, they will have the opportunity to play at home for the very first time. Both of these teams will play at the brand-new Segra Stadium at 7:00 Eastern. Enoli Paredes will have the honor of being the first player to throw a pitch at this facility.

Quad Cities and Cedar Rapids was postponed

Due to the threat of severe weather in the Cedar Rapids area. This game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on May 13.

The Banditos are still unable to access their stadium so they will host the Kane County Cougars in Peoria. Nivaldo Rodríguez will take on Franklyn Soriano in game one; first pitch is at 6:35.

Astros July 2018 MiLB Standouts

With the calendar turning from July to August, the top five Astros minor league teams are well-poised with Corpus Christi and Quad Cities assured playoff berths as first-half winners, two of the other teams in first place and the final team (Buies Creek) in second place within striking distance. The rookie level clubs have raised their stock since a rather inauspicious beginning (although the DSL team still lags a ways behind in the standings). Here are a few of the players who have helped contribute to the success of their teams in July. I have highlighted a few of the more outstanding stats in red.

A couple of big innings allowed the Grizzlies to cruise to a victory.

Cy Sneed also turned in a nice outing, which definitely helped. Sneed allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out four over six shutout innings. The I-Cubs spoiled the shutout with a run off of Kent Emanuel in the 9th. Emanuel pitched the final three innings and allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out four.

Jack Mayfield walked to lead off the 2nd. He moved to third on a Yordan Alvarez single and scored the game's first run on a Myles Straw single. One batter later, Garrett Stubbs smacked a homer and the rout was on. Tony Nuñez walked, stole second... and got greedy and was thrown out at third. Jake Marisnick drew a walk and then D.J. Fisher whacked a two-run homer to extend Fresno's lead to 6-0. Fisher singled to start the 4th and scored on a Tyler White double. Two batters later, Mayfield launched a two-run homer. Fisher went 3-5 and finished a triple shy of the cycle. A.J. Reed went 2-4.

The Grizzlies will look to sweep the series on Thursday. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

San Antonio 1, Corpus Christi 0

CC home runs: None.

The Hooks got shut out and swept out of San Antonio.

Framber Valdez wasn't awful, but he ran up a high pitch count and also allowed the only run of the game. In 4.2 innings, he allowed six hits, walked two, and struck out nine. Justin Ferrell was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and did not allow a hit in his 2.1 innings; he issued a walk and fanned four. Erasmo Pinales worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 8th, striking out two.

Taylor Jones' double was the Hooks' only extra-base hit on the evening. Alex De Goti, Chas McCormick, and Stephen Wrenn all singled. McCormick now has a 10-game hitting streak.

Corpus will head home to start a four-game series with Midland at 7:05. Ryan Hartman is listed as the Hooks' probable starter for game one.

The doubleheader between Buies Creek and Potomac was postponed

Due to inclement weather. They'll try to play the doubleheader today, with game one starting at 4:00 Eastern. Also, the twinbill will constitute the entire series as this was supposed to be the final series between both clubs. One game has been canceled.

Quad Cities 6, Burlington 5 in 10 innings

QC home runs: None.

The only crooked numbers in this game came in the first extra frame. The Banditos broke a 3-3 tie with three in the top of the 10th and then the Bees made things really interesting with a home run that cut the lead to one run. Fortunately, Quad Cities was able to escape with the W.

Leovanny Rodriguez allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out six over five shutout frames. César Rosado was the first man out of the bullpen and went three innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, walking two, and striking out two. The two runs that Luis Garcia allowed in his 1.2 innings came off the homer in the 10th. As the homer occurred in an extra inning, the man on second was charged as an unearned run. Garcia allowed two other hits, walked one, and struck out three. Willy Collado was greeted by an infield single from Torii Hunter, but he buckled down and got that elusive final out with a strikeout.

Quad Cities scored the first three runs of this game: Jonathan Lacroix scored the first run when Scott Schreiber grounded into a force out in the 3rd and then Marty Costes and Chandler Taylor had RBI base hits in the 5th and the 6th, respectively. Schrieber started the 10th in scoring position; he advanced to third on a Seth Beer single and scored the go-ahead run on a single from David Hensley. Beer and Hensley scored when Alfredo Angarita flared a ball down the right field line and kept it just fair. Beer and Hensley both finished 2-5 on the night; Mike Papierski also finished with two hits out of the #8 spot in the order.

Jairo Solís will get the start in game two. He'll take on Oliver Ortega at 6:30.

Tri-City and Auburn was postponed

Due to rain. The series will conclude with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 AM Eastern. Jayne is satisfied with this development as it has allowed her to catch up on sleep.

DSL Rays1 8, DSL Astros 5

DSL home runs: Victor Mascai (5, 2-run in 4th), Yimmi Cortabarria (2, solo in 8th)

The Rays put up crooked numbers in all of the innings in which they scored to top the Astros in DSL play.

Jherson Pereira allowed two runs on five hits and struck out one in three innings of work. Valente Bellozo worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 4th, striking out one. Fabricio Reina and Franny Cobos both pitched two innings; Reina allowed six runs (five earned, three inherited runners charged to him) on four hits and walked two, while Cobos allowed three hits.

Victor Mascai and Yimmi Cortabarria both finished 2-4 and they were both responsible for the offensive production in this game. Mascai put the Astros on the board when he launched two-run homer in the 4th inning. Cortabarria hit an RBI single in the 6th, Mascai drew a bases-loaded walk in the 7th, and Cortabarria struck again in the 8th with a homer to begin the inning. Abraham Castillo and Javier Bermúdez also finished with two hits on the day.

Game 1: Las Vegas 5, Fresno 4

Fresno home runs: None.

The 51s took control with four runs in the top of the 6th. Fresno managed to respond with three in the bottom half of the 6th to get back in the game, but they couldn't push the tying run across.

Josh James allowed a run, walked four, and struck out two over three innings. Trent Thornton and Reymin Guduan threw two innings apiece with contrasting results. Thornton allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out three in a scoreless outing, but Guduan allowed four runs on five hits and struck out five.

Jack Mayfield put Fresno on the board by ripping an RBI double in the 3rd inning. He added an RBI single to his ledger in the 6th and Nick Tanielu followed by smacking an RBI double. Mayfield scored when D.J. Fisher grounded into a force out. Mayfield and Tanielu both finished with two hits in game one.

Game 2: Fresno 2, Las Vegas 1

Both teams had one scoring play apiece in game two. Fresno's yielded more runs, so they won.

A.J. Reed put the Grizzlies on the board in game two with a two-run single in the 3rd inning.

Brock Dykxhoorn shook off a 1st-inning homer and turned in a solid outing. He allowed two other hits and struck out seven in his 5.2 innings. Brendan McCurry walked one and struck out one over the final 1.1 innings to earn the save.

The 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio. A.J. Reed, Garrett Stubbs, J.D. Davis, and pitching coach Dyar Millar will represent the Grizzlies in the Pacific Coast League contingent. Kyle Tucker was also named to the squad, but he's in Houston now.

The Grizzlies return to action on Thursday with a four-game series in Tacoma.

Corpus Christi 4, Northwest Arkansas 0

One team scored all the runs and it was the Corpus Christi Raspas.

All four runs came in the opening frame as Josh Rojas drove in two with a double and Lorenzo Quintana brought in two more with a single. Rojas' double was Corpus Christi's only extra-base hit of the evening.

Corbin Martin and Framber Valdez joined forces to keep the Naturals off the scoreboard. Martin and his outstanding eyebrows allowed four hits and struck out three over the first five innings and Framber allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out six in the last four innings to complete the shutout.

Ryan Hartman will take on Foster Griffin at 6:05.

Myrtle Beach 4, Buies Creek 2

The Pelicans took control with three runs in the 6th and got an insurance run in the 9th.

Both of Buies Creek's runs came in the 3rd inning and they came on a Jake Meyers base hit.

Brett Adcock allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out three over five shutout frames. Myrtle Beach got to Hector Perez in the 6th for those three runs. Perez went three innings and allowed three hits, walked three, and struck out two. Adam Bleday allowed a solo homer to Wladimir Galindo in the 9th inning.

Cristian Javier takes on Tyson Miller in the series finale. First pitch is at 2:00 Eastern.

Burlington 6, Quad Cities 4

The Bees stung the Banditos with a pair of three-run innings late.

César Rosado threw 6.1 innings and allowed two runs on three hits, walked three, and struck out a career-high 12. Unfortunately, the bullpen let a 4-0 lead slip away. Humberto Castellanos went two innings and allowed three runs (two earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on three hits and struck out three. Tanner Duncan got the last two outs of the 9th, but not before issuing a walk and allowing a two-run triple. The run that was charged to him on that play was unearned; Castellanos also got charged with a run.

Marty Costes opened the scoring in the 5th by whacking a two-run triple. He trotted home on a single from Seth Beer. David Hensley walked to lead off the 6th, stole second, and scored on a single from Ruben Castro. Beer went 3-5 and also recorded his first stolen base as a professional baseball player.

Leovanny Rodriguez will get the start in game three of this series. He'll go up against Jose Soriano at 5:15.

Tri-City 5, Aberdeen 4

The ValleyCats walked off with the win thanks to a pair of runs in the bottom of the 9th. They went 6-14 with runners in scoring position, but that statistic does not necessarily indicate that runs are being scored...

Luis Garcia turned in a dominant outing as he allowed just one hit, walked one, and struck out ten over five shutout frames. This was the first double-digit strikeout game of his career.

R.J. Freure made his debut in this game; he was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and allowed a solo homer, walked one, and struck out three in his two innings of work. Carlos Hiraldo and Riley Cabral both pitched one inning. Hiraldo allowed three runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out two in the 8th, while Cabral worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th.

Tri-City got a couple runs in the 4th behind a couple of RBI base hits from Alex Holderbach and Gilberto Celestino. Trey Dawson tried to score on a Jeremy Peña single but got thrown out at the plate to end the inning. He got his revenge with an RBI single in the 6th. Celestino and Peña singled and Alex McKenna got plunked to lead off the bottom of the 9th. César Salazar was next and he tied the game with an RBI single. Peña came home with the winning run thanks to an error on the play. Holderbach and Peña finished with three hits apiece, while Dawson and Celestino had two each.

Tri-City and Aberdeen will continue their series at 5:00 Eastern.

The Palm Beach Stros had an offensive outburst that spurred them to a win in game one.

Manny Ramirez walked one and struck out five over five no-hit innings. Bryan Solano allowed two runs on three hits and struck out two in two innings.

Andrés Santana had a solid afternoon as he opened the scoring with a two-run double in the 4th. Sean Mendoza added an RBI single im the 5th. In the 6th, Santana ripped an RBI double and scored on an error following a Yeuris Ramirez infield single.

The Nationals scored four runs in the 9th to seize control.

The Rays stunned the Dominican Stros with three in the 9th to tie and one in the 10th to walk off with the win.

Jose Alvarez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. The Academy scored two more in the 3rd on a Victor Mascai RBI double and a sac fly from Carlos Hurtado. They got two more in the 5th on a Little League home run from Alvarez; he was credited with a double and an RBI on the play. Alvarez finished 3-5. Carrillo went 2-3 with three runs scored and a stolen base (6).

Heitor Tokar and Wender Oberto threw four innings apiece. Tokar allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked one, and struck out four, while Oberto allowed four hits and struck out two. Jose Betances threw a scoreless 8th but the wheels fell off for him in the 9th as he allowed three runs on three hits and walked one. Ronny Garcia walked two and allowed the winning run in the 10th; he failed to record an out.
