Hard to believe that the E-Train had a no-hitter through seven innings. The Isotopes scored five in the 8th to tie and walked off with the win in the 9th.

Rogelio Armenteros walked four and struck out four over 6.1 shutout and no-hit innings. Cy Sneed got an inning-ending double play after coming on for Armenteros in the 7th. Brad Peacock and Brendan McCurry had rough nights at the office.

Garrett Stubbs ripped an RBI double in the 5th and he came around to score on an error following a Jamie Ritchie single. Ritchie smacked a solo homer in the 7th and Drew Ferguson launched a two-run homer later in the inning. Everyone in the Round Rock lineup recorded a hit; Ritchie finished with two.

Framber Valdez goes up against Jeff Hoffman in game three. First pitch is at 6:35 Mountain.

Corpus Christi 8, Midland 2

The Hooks bashed three home runs on Sunday as they avoided the sweep in West Texas.

Cristian Javier, well... he continued to do what he's done all season, namely, not give up hits. He allowed one hit, walked three, and struck out eight over five shutout innings. Bryan Abreu pitched the last four innings and he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked four, and struck out six. Abreu crossed the century mark in strikeouts in this outing; he's the 11th pitcher in the system to reach 100 strikeouts this season.

Osvaldo Duarte opened the scoring when he ripped an RBI double in the 5th. Aníbal Sierra added a sac fly and then Jacob Meyers launched a two-run homer. Jake Adams led off the 7th with a homer and Colton Shaver put the finishing touches on this game by whacking a three-run homer in the 8th. Everyone in the Corpus lineup recorded a hit; Adams went 2-4 and scored twice. He scored the other run on Sierra's sac fly in the 5th.

The Hooks will begin a four-game series with Frisco at 6:15.

Fayetteville 4, Winston-Salem 2

Fayetteville home runs: None.

The Woodpeckers earned the sweep thanks to a three-run 5th that gave them the lead.

Chandler Taylor opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 3rd inning. Scott Schreiber provided the decisive hit in the 5th, a two-run triple that turned into a Little League home run. Corey Julks finished 3-4 with a couple of doubles and scored on Schreiber's triple. David Hensley went 2-4.

Jojanse Torres went five innings and allowed two runs on five hits, walked three, and struck out three. César Rosado was the first man out of the Fayetteville bullpen and he went 2.2 innings, allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out four. Humberto Castellanos got the four-out save, striking out one.

Fayetteville has Monday off. They'll start a three-game set with Down East on Tuesday.

Quad Cities 3, Wisconsin 2

W- José Bravo (6-5)

QC home runs: Oscar Campos (2, solo in 6th)

The Banditos edged out the Timber Rattlers behind a fine relief performance from José Bravo.

Alex McKenna opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 5th. After Wisconsin took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the 5th, Oscar Campos tied the game with a solo blast in the 6th. Orlando Marquez put Quad Cities back in front with a sac fly in the 8th. McKenna finished 2-5 on the afternoon.

Brett Daniels went 4.2 innings and he allowed two runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out three. Bravo stranded the two runners he inherited from Daniels to end the 5th and he went on to throw 4.1 scoreless, allowing a hit and striking out three.

Guadalupe Chavez will get the start in the series finale as the Banditos look for the sweep. He'll go against Adam Hill at 12:05.

Tri-City 5, Connecticut 1

TC home runs: Luis Santana (1, solo in 9th)

The ValleyCats stunned the Tigers as they scored four in the 8th and tacked on one more in the 9th for good measure.

Juan Pablo Lopez allowed a run on four hits, walked one, and struck out two in five innings. Valente Bellozo shut it down in the last four innings as he allowed just one hit and struck out eight.

A.J. Lee got plunked and Nate Perry walked to lead off the 8th. Jordan Brewer came in to pinch-run for Perry; he and Lee both advanced on C.J. Stubbs' flyout and then Korey Lee got a free pass to first to load the bases for Joe Perez, who promptly sent everyone home with a triple. Perez trotted home on a single from Luis Guerrero. Luis Santana capped off the evening when he launched a homer to lead off the 9th. Santana finished 3-4 in this one.

The ValleyCats and Tigers will continue this series at 7:05 Eastern.

The Palm Beach 'Stros had ten hits but they only had one run to show for it.

Jayson Schroeder allowed an unearned run on a sac fly, walked two, and struck out two in two innings. Misael Tamarez was the first man out of the bullpen and he allowed an unearned run on three hits, walked one, and struck out three in three innings. Alfredi Jimenez struck out four over two perfect innings and Alex Palmer walked one and struck out one in a scoreless 8th.

Gerry Castillo finished 3-4 and he scored the GCLstros' only run of the day on a double from Rolando Espinosa in the 5th inning.

The Hooks gave up runs in five consecutive innings; they cut into a 5-1 deficit but the Roughriders put them away with three in the 6th and one more in the 7th for good measure.

Ryan Pressly began his rehab assignment by allowing a hit and striking out two in the 1st inning. Yohan Ramirez took over and the results weren't pretty. He allowed seven runs (two inherited runners scored and were charged to him) on five hits, walked seven, and struck out five in four innings. Erasmo Pinales threw two innings and allowed two runs on four hits (three-run homer; two runs were charged to Ramirez) and struck out three. Nick Hernandez worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 8th.

Bryan de la Cruz doubled to lead off the game and he scored the first run of the evening when J.J. Matijevic grounded into a force out. Jonathan Arauz smacked a two-run triple in the 6th inning; he and de la Cruz both had two hits in this game.

Brett Adcock goes up against Tyler Phillips in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:05.

Wilmington 4, Fayetteville 1 (10 innings)

The Woodpeckers tied this game in the 9th... only to see the Blue Rocks go off for three runs in the first extra frame.

Fayetteville's lone run came via a sac fly from Miguelangel Sierra in the 9th. Scott Manea finished 2-3 on the night.

Brett Conine went five innings and he allowed three hits, one of which was a solo homer, walked two, and struck out four. Jojanse Torres tagged in for four scoreless, allowing two hits and striking out five. Tanner Duncan bore the brunt of Wilmington's assault in the 10th as he allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits, walked one, and struck out one.

Luis Garcia will get the start in game two. He'll go against Jonathan Bowlan at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 1, Kane County 0

There was only one run in this game and it belonged to the Banditos as they avoided getting swept at the hands of the Cougars.

Freúdis Nova went 2-3 and his RBI single in the 2nd was the only scoring play of the afternoon. Alex Holderbach, who scored on Nova's base hit, also had two hits on the day.

José Bravo allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out three over six shutout frames. Devin Conn tagged in for two innings and he allowed a hit, walked three, and struck out four. Garrett Gayle completed the shutout by working around a hit in the 9th.

Felipe Tejada will start the first game of a three-game set with Clinton. He'll take on George Soriano at 6:35.

Tri-City 16, Lowell 4

The ValleyCats administered a severe beatdown to the Spinners.

Valente Bellozo allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out six in five innings of work. Juan Pablo Lopez tagged in for 3.1 innings and he allowed three runs on two hits, both of which were home runs, walked two, and struck out five. Miguel Figueroa walked one and struck out one as he got the final two outs of this game.

Peyton Battenfield will start the series finale and he'll face Chris Murphy at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Astros

Before getting to their regularly scheduled game with the Cardinals, they had to finish one that originally started on August 1 but was suspended due to rain. The Palm Beach 'Stros scored four in the 6th to tie the game at 5, but the Cardinals got one run in the 7th to regain the lead and it held up in the end. Everyone in the lineup recorded a hit; Rolando Espinosa hit a two-run homer in the 6th inning. 

In the regularly scheduled game, the Palm Beach 'Stros came out on top by a final of 6-3. The Cardinals scored two in the top of the 8th to tie the game at 3 and then the GCLStros responded with three in the bottom of the inning to regain control. James Nix hit his first career home run, a solo shot, in the 4th inning. Yorbin Ceuta hit a couple of sacrifice flies. Colin Barber launched a solo homer in the 6th. Franklin Pinto and Sean Mendoza had RBI singles in the 8th. Barber, Pinto, Nix, and Nerio Rodriguez all finished with two hits on the afternoon. On the mound, Alfredi Jimenez allowed one hit and struck out seven over four scoreless innings. 

DSL Astros and DSL Marlins was suspended

Due to rain. The Dominican 'Stros are currently leading 2-0 in the top of the 5th. Cristian Gonzalez is 2-2 with a solo homer, the first of his pro career.

Fresno home runs: Garrett Stubbs (4, 2-run in 7th)

The Grizzlies got swept out of the Music City. They have lost every game they've ever played in the Sounds' new ballpark.

Garrett Stubbs finished 2-4 and his two-run home run in the 7th represented Fresno's only scoring play. Kyle Tucker went 3-4.

Brady Rodgers went 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on six hits and struck out three. Buddy Boshers was the first man out of the Grizzlies bullpen and allowed two runs on two hits, walked one, and struck out two in 1.1 innings. Both of the runs that were charged to Boshers were inherited runners that scored. Riley Ferrell took ownership of the 8th and allowed a run of his own on a double, walked one, and struck out one.

Fresno's tour of Tennessee continues with four games in Memphis. Trent Thornton gets the opener and he'll face Kevin Herget at 6:35.

Frisco 2, Corpus Christi 1

The Hooks were kept in check up in the Metroplex on Friday.

Aníbal Sierra smacked a solo homer in the 6th, so there's that.

Brandon Bielak turned in a decent outing but he had to take the loss. He went five innings and allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five. Alex Winkelman walked one and struck out four over two no-hit innings.

Oh, and the guy the Astros acquired on Monday made his debut in the organization.

Buies Creek and Lynchburg was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for today with game one starting at 1:00 Eastern. Tyler Ivey faces Tanner Tully in game one and Cristian Javier takes on Micah Miniard in game two.

Quad Cities 3, Clinton 2

QC home runs: Jonathan Lacroix (3, 3-run in 4th)

Quad Cities only had one scoring play but it was enough for them to get the victory and the sweep.

Luis Garcia had a solid night on the mound as he allowed a run on five hits and struck out three in three innings. Parker Mushinski and Brendan Feldmann both pitched two innings; Mushinski allowed an unearned run on a single, walked one, and struck out four, and Feldmann allowed two hits and struck out two.

Jonathan Lacroix went 2-3 and launched a three-run home run in the 4th that represented the Banditos' only scoring play.

César Rosado will start the first of a three-game series in Peoria at 6:30. He'll take on Angel Rondón.

Tri-City and Lowell was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader will begin at 5:00 Eastern.

Before getting to their regularly scheduled game, the Astros and Cardinals had to wrap up a game that they started on July 24. They didn't get any runs. Matt Ramsey struck out two in a 1-2-3 5th, Carlos Sierra allowed a hit and struck out one in the 6th, and Julio Robaina allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out one in two innings.

GCL Astros 10, GCL Cardinals 1

Now that the suspended game was done with, the Palm Beach Stros unleashed a beatdown and cruised to a win.

Ronaldo Urdaneta went 4-5, stole a couple of bases (14), and scored three runs. Yeuris Ramirez went 3-4 and launched a three-run homer in the 6th inning. Yeuris also had a sac fly in the 2nd and an RBI single in the 9th.

Christian Mejias allowed three hits, walked four, and struck out three over three scoreless innings. Jonathan Bermúdez allowed two hits and fanned two in two innings. Bryan Solano allowed a run on a triple, walked one, and struck out four in three innings, and Daniel Bello struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th.

DSL Marlins 5, DSL Astros 0

The Academy got buried by a five-run 6th inning.

Rolando Espinosa went 2-3.

Alfredi Jimenez went five innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits, walked one, and struck out five. Valente Bellozo bore the brunt of the Marlins' assualt in the 6th. Jose Betances allowed a run on a sac fly, a single, walked one, and struck out one in the 8th, and Ronny Garcia allowed a hit and struck out two in the 9th.

Fresno 3, Omaha 2

Fresno home runs: None.

The Storm Chasers scored the first two runs of this game and the Grizzlies responded by scoring the last three.

Brady Rodgers turned in a solid outing as he went six innings and allowed two runs on four hits (solo homer), walked one, and struck out one. Rogelio Armenteros brought it home by not allowing a hit over the final three innings; he walked two and fanned five.

D.J. Fisher walked to keep the 3rd inning alive and scored Fresno's first run when he dashed home on a Jack Mayfield double. Jake Marisnick hit a double with one out in the 5th and scored on a single from A.J. Reed. Jake would strike again in the 6th when he ripped an RBI double that turned out to be the game-winning hit. Both of Jake's hits were doubles; Yordan Alvarez also finished with two hits on the evening.

Trent Thornton takes on Jake Kalish in game three of this series. First pitch is at 5:00 Pacific.

Corpus Christi 7, Midland 5

CC home runs: Lorenzo Quintana (11, solo in 4th), Alex De Goti (11, walk-off two-run in 9th)

The Hooks snapped a season-high six-game losing streak by stunning the Hounds with five runs in the final two innings of this game, culminating in Alex De Goti's walk-off shot in the bottom of the 9th.

Randy César hit a two-out double in the 1st and scored the first run of the evening on a double from Taylor Jones. Lorenzo Quintana smacked a solo homer in the 4th that tied the game at 2. This would be Corpus Christi's last scoring play until they came alive in the last two innings; in the meantime, Midland took a 5-2 lead.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th, Aníbal Sierra hit an RBI single and De Goti scored another run when they tried to get Quintana at second. The game log says he "scored on the throw," it doesn't specify where the throw was going. Well, anyway. Stephen Wrenn got plunked to lead off the 9th; he got his revenge by stealing his way to third and scoring the tying run on a sac fly from Jones. Josh Rojas worked out a walk to bring up De Goti, who sent the Whataburger Field crowd home happy by launching a Nolan Blackwood offering into the South Texas night to win the game.

Jones finished 4-4 on the night. De Goti (2-R HR, 2 R) and Quintana (2B, solo HR) both finished with two hits, and Wrenn's two steals give him 36 on the season.

Brandon Bielak went six innings and allowed four runs on nine hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out four. Alex Winkelman tagged in for 2.1 innings and allowed a run on two hits, walked two, and struck out five. Erasmo Pinales got the last two outs of the 9th, striking out one.

Hector Perez will start the finale of this series and he'll face Ben Bracewell at 6:05.

Game 1: Wilmington 1, Buies Creek 0

There was one run in game one and it did not belong to the Carolina Stros. They outhit the Blue Rocks 7-2 but couldn't push any runs across. Bryan de la Cruz and Chuckie Robinson both went 2-3 in game one.

Cristian Javier went 5.2 innings and allowed that one run on a homer. He also allowed one other hit, walked two, and struck out eight. Tommy DeJuneas got the last out of the 6th.

Game 2: Buies Creek 3, Wilmington 0

The Carolina Stros held Wilmington to one run on three hits in the span of two games... and finished with a split in the doubleheader.

De La Cruz accounted for three of Buies Creek's four hits in game two; he hit an RBI single in the 1st and another RBI single in the 3rd inning. Before his second RBI base hit, Corey Julks scored on a wild pitch. The other hit belonged to Ronnie Dawson. The Carolina Stros walked eleven times and struck out only once in this game.

Tyler Ivey allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out eight over six shutout frames. Colin McKee struck out one in a 1-2-3 7th to complete the shutout.

Buies Creek and Wilmington will conclude this series at 1:35 Eastern.

Quad Cities 3, Cedar Rapids 2

QC home runs: David Hensley (2, solo in 3rd)

Bryan Abreu mowed down the Kernels and Chad Donato held them off to secure the win.

Abreu went five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, walked two, and struck out a career-high 11, while Donato allowed a hit, walked one, and fanned four over the final four frames. Donato bounced back nicely after allowing four runs in each of his last two outings.

Miguelangel Sierra ripped a double with one out in the 2nd inning and he scored the game's first run on a single from Logan Mattix. Quad Cities scored twice in the 3rd as Marty Costes led off with a triple and scored on a Seth Beer groundout, and one batter later, David Hensley smacked a solo home run. Hensley and Mattix both finished with two hits on the night.

Parker Mushinski will take on Jordan Balazovic in the second and final game of the road leg of this four-game series. First pitch is at 2:05.

Staten Island 2, Tri-City 0

Well, there was supposed to be a doubleheader, but the horrid weather continues to wreak havoc in upstate New York. ValleyCats management issued a letter of apology to the fans:

As for the game, both teams recorded five hits but only the Yankees were able to push across any runs.

All five Tri-City hits were singles; no one finished with more than one hit.

Hector Martinez had a nice afternoon at the plate as he went 2-3 with an RBI double in the 6th and a solo homer in the 8th. Freudis Nova had an RBI base hit in the 6th.

Jose Bravo allowed a hit and struck out seven over five shutout innings. Fredy Medina cruised through three scoreless innings but the final out of the game eluded him. In 3.2 innings, Medina allowed two runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out three. Joey Gonzalez came on with two runners on and got that last out without incident.

Valente Bellozo and Alfredi Jimenez shut the A's down as they combined on a one-hitter. Bellozo allowed that one hit and struck out three in his five innings. He allowed six runs, five of which were earned, during his pro debut on June 5. Since then, he's pitched 35.2 innings and has not allowed a run. Jimenez struck out seven over the last four innings; one of his strikeout victims reached base.

Yimmi Cortabarria and Jeury Castillo both went 2-3 on the day. Cortabarria drew a walk and scored twice; one of his runs came on a base hit from Castillo in the 8th inning.

The Missions took the opener of this series by scoring in more innings than the Hooks.

Both teams scored in the 2nd; Josh Rojas led things off with a double and scored Corpus Christi's only run when Chas McCormick took his place at second by whacking a double of his own. They both finished 2-3; both of Rojas' hits were doubles.

Brandon Bielak went 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on six hits, walked two, and struck out three. Kit Scheetz allowed a hit over 2.2 scoreless and Ralph Garza Jr. worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 8th, striking out one.

Brett Adcock will make his first Texas League start at 7:05 and he'll face Logan Allen.

Down East 8, Buies Creek 4

BC home runs: J.J. Matijevic 2 (10, 13 season; 2-run in 3rd, solo in 9th)

J.J. Matijevic's huge afternoon was not enough for the Carolina Stros as they were foiled in their bid to sweep the series, which also would have clinched the Lone Star Series in North Carolina in their favor.

Matijevic finished 3-4 and was responsible for driving in three of the four Buies Creek runs in this game; he whacked a two-run homer in the 3rd to put them on the board and then led off the 9th with a homer. Osvaldo Duarte drew a walk and scored when Jake Adams ripped a double. Adams finished 2-4 on the afternoon. Buies Creek had a chance to really make things interesting in the bottom of the 9th, but they couldn't capitalize on a bases-loaded situation.

Gabriel Valdez pitched five innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits (solo homer) while striking out one. Carlos Sanabria and Jesús Balaguer both threw two innings. Sanabria allowed two runs on two hits, walked three, and struck out one, while Balaguer allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and fanned two.

The Carolina Stros will head north for a roadtrip. They'll start a three-game set in Potomac at 7:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities 7, West Michigan 4

The Banditos took control of this one by erupting for six runs in the 3rd inning.

Peter Solomon wasn't at his best, but fortunately, the offense, Parker Mushinski, and Brendan Feldmann picked him up. Solomon allowed four runs on six hits (solo homer) and struck out three in five innings of work. Mushinski allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out three over three scoreless frames and Feldmann worked around a hit and a walk to close out the game.

Six different players drove in a run for Quad Cities and only one of their seven runs on the afternoon was the result of a hit. David Hensley put the Banditos on the board with an RBI single with the bases loaded in the 3rd. Chandler Taylor, Mike Papierski, and Scott Schreiber all walked in runs, while Jonathan Lacroix got plunked to bring in another run. Logan Mattix capped off the big 3rd with a sac fly, and Seth Beer scored on a wild pitch in the 4th. Hensley finished 2-3 on the day.

After an off day, the Banditos will travel to Burlington for a three-game series starting Wednesday.

Tri-City was off

The ValleyCats will start a three-game series with Auburn at 7:00 Eastern.

The Mets made things interesting in the 9th when they cut the Palm Beach Stros' lead to one run, but Joey Gonzalez kept his cool and secured the win.

In his first professional start, Jayson Schroeder walked one and struck out three over two scoreless innings. Matt Ramsey struck out the side in order in the 3rd inning. Miguel Figueroa was next, and he had a run charged to him when an inherited runner scored. Figueroa allowed a double, walked two, and struck out five in 2.1 innings. Layne Henderson went 2.2 innings and allowed three hits while striking out one. Freylin Garcia came on for the 9th and got an out, but he also issued a couple of walks and had a run charged to him when an inherited runner scored. Joey Gonzalez got the last two outs of the game, although he allowed an RBI single to the first man he faced, which resulted in one of Garcia's runners scoring. He struck out the next batter and then got the final out by catching the other runner he inherited from Garcia trying to steal home.

Freudis Nova opened the scoring with a solo shot in the 3rd inning. Nerio Rodriguez smacked a double to lead off the 8th and Hector Martinez came on to run for him. Martinez advanced to third on a sac bunt and trotted home when Juan Ramirez smacked a triple. Carlos Diaz brought Ramirez in with a single. Ramirez and Freudis both finished with two hits.

The DSL Astros' game with the Royals was suspended at the end of the 5th with the game tied 0-0. Alfredi Jimenez pitched all five innings and allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out five.

The Grizzlies couldn't seem to find the strike zone on Thursday. They held the Rainiers to five hits but they also issued 11 walks on the night. They very nearly snatched the win late but couldn't get the tying run across.

Yordan Alvarez opened the scoring by launching his first AAA home run in the 2nd inning. Two batters later, Jamie Ritchie whacked his first AAA homer and also his first homer of the year. A.J. Reed hit a sac fly in the 8th. Myles Straw finished 4-5 and stole a couple of bases, which gives him 50 thefts on the season.

Cy Sneed allowed a run on a bases-loaded walk, a hit, walked six, and struck out four in his 2.2 innings. Ralph Garza Jr. and Reymin Guduan threw 1.2 innings apiece. Garza was first and he allowed three runs (two earned, one inherited runner charged to him) on two hits, walked two, and struck out three. Guduan allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four. Riley Ferrell and Buddy Boshers both turned in scoreless innings; Ferrell walked one and struck out one in the 7th, while Boshers walked one and fanned two in the 8th.

Midland 6, Corpus Christi 5

The RockHounds stunned the Hooks by launching two home runs with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to walk off with the win.

Chas McCormick led off the game with a base hit. He proceeded to steal second and then scored the first run of the evening when Stephen Wrenn smacked a triple. Wrenn wound up scoring on a Randy César sac fly. César ripped an RBI double in the 4th and he later scored on a Ryne Birk sac fly. Birk doubled to lead off the 9th and scored on a wild pitch. McCormick, Josh Rojas, and Alex De Goti all finished with two hits on the night. McCormick also stole a base, which gives him five thefts with Corpus Christi and 12 on the year.

Brandon Bielak allowed an unearned run on six hits, walked one, and struck out five in five innings. In his Texas League debut, Hector Perez went two innings and allowed a run on three hits while striking out two. Erasmo Pinales threw a scoreless 8th... and I'm sure that he'd like a neuralizer treatment after that 9th inning.

Framber Valdez will get the start in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:00.

Buies Creek 2, Down East 0

The Carolina Stros kept the Wood Ducks off the board to earn a split in the latest iteration of the Lone Star Series in North Carolina.

Brandon Bailey started things off by allowing three hits, walking one, and striking out six over five shutout frames. Brett Adcock tagged in for three innings and allowed two hits while striking out four, and in his system debut, Tommy DeJuneas struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th.

Bryan de la Cruz reached on an error in the 1st that also allowed Jake Meyers and Osvaldo Duarte to score. Those were the only two runs of the game. Meyers finished 2-4 with a double.

Buies Creek will start a four-game series in Winston-Salem at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 4, Dayton 3

There was some shambolic defense being played in this one as the two teams combined for nine errors. The Dragons doubled up the Banditos in that category...

Peter Solomon had an unearned run charged to him thanks to an error in his five innings of work. He also allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out five. Parker Mushinski allowed two runs on a homer, two other hits, issued an intentional walk, and struck out two in three innings. Tanner Duncan shut the door by striking out one in a 1-2-3 9th.

Marty Costes walked to lead off the 2nd and David Hensley joined him on the bases after a base hit. They both scored on an error that saw Mike Papierski reach and advance to second base. Papierski scored in the 4th when Alfredo Angarita grounded into a force out. Angarita put Quad Cities back in front when he ripped an RBI double in the 8th inning. Miguelangel Sierra finished 2-5 with a double; the Banditos won despite going 0-16 with runners in scoring position.

César Rosado struck out a career-high 12 in his previous start; what will he have in store as he takes the mound for the series finale? He'll face Wendolyn Bautista at 6:00 Eastern.

Tri-City 5, Williamsport 3

The ValleyCats staved off a late uprising from the Crosscutters to even the series.

Luis Encarnación opened the scoring when he whacked a homer to lead off the 3rd inning. Austin Dennis smacked an RBI double in the 4th and added an RBI single to his ledger in the 6th. Carlos Machado added a sac fly later in the 6th. Alex McKenna, who scored on that sac fly, went 3-4 and ripped an RBI triple in the 7th. Dennis's two hits resulted in runs, and Jeremy Peña went 2-3 with three runs scored and a couple of walks.

Shawn Dubin started it off with three scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out two. Brett Conine walked two and struck out one over 2.2 no-hit innings. Mark Moclair was cruising along until he hit the wall in the 8th inning. He allowed three runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on three hits, walked one, and struck out five in 1.2 innings. Eleven of the last twelve outs that Moclair has recorded have been strikeouts. Hansel Paulino also threw 1.2 innings and allowed a sac fly that allowed one of Moclair's runners to score and he also issued a walk.

The rubber game of this series will start at 7:05 Eastern.

A late outburst spurred the Palm Beach Stros to a win over their complex mates.

A couple of Fresno pitchers started it off with rehab appearances. David Paulino allowed a hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings and Matt Ramsey started his rehab stint by navigating out of a bases-loaded jam in the 4th. He allowed three hits and struck out one. Kyle Serrano struck out two in a 1-2-3 5th. Angel Macuare allowed a run on four hits and struck out three in three innings, and Jervic Chavez worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out one.

Nathan Perry had a solid day at the plate as he finished 3-4, opening the scoring with a double in the 4th inning. The GCLstros got two in the 6th on a sac fly from Freudis Nova and Perry later added an RBI single to his ledger. Carlos Diaz grounded into a force out that allowed Yeuris Ramirez to score in the 7th and they got two more in the 8th when Wilyer Abreu scored on a passed ball and Juan Ramirez capped off the day with an RBI single.

DSL Astros 8, DSL Braves 7 in 11 innings

The Academy walked off with the win thanks to three in the bottom of the 11th.

Alfredi Jimenez allowed a hit and struck out four over three scoreless innings. He was the only DSLstros pitcher to turn in a scoreless outing. Franny Cobos was the first man out of the DSL bullpen and he went two innings, allowing a run on two hits, walking two, and striking out three. Alex Blanco came on for the 6th but only got two outs, one via strikeout; the Braves got to him for a couple of runs on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice. Blanco also allowed a hit and walked three. He left two men on for Jherson Pereira, who spared him from further damage. Pereira went 2.1 innings and allowed a run on three hits and walked two. Jeremy Molero was next and he allowed an unearned run on a single, walked one, and struck out three. Cristofer Mezquita allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked one, and struck out two in the top of the 11th.

Abraham Castillo led off the 2nd with a double and an error on the play allowed him to advance to third. He scored the first run of the day on a sac fly from Ricardo Toro. Franklin Pinto scored on an error in the 3rd as he took advantage of an errant throw from the catcher as Enmanuel Morillo took second. In the 5th, Jonarkys Lopez scored on a wild pitch and Jose Mendoza scored on a Yefri Carrillo groundout. That would be the last time that the Astros would score until extra innings.

Carrillo started the 10th in scoring position; he moved to third on a bad pickoff attempt and scored on a single from Morillo. Jose Alvarez started the 11th at second and didn't have to wait too long to score as Mendoza led off the inning with an RBI base hit. Pinto drew a walk but was forced out at second. Carrillo stole second, however. Mendoza scored the tying run on a Jeury Castillo groundout and Victor Mascai won it with an RBI single.

Morillo and Mendoza both went 2-4 on the day. Carrillo stole a couple of bases, giving him nine on the year.
