Fresno home runs: D.J. Fisher (3, 19 season; solo in 2nd)

David Paulino was given a rather rude welcome to the Pacific Coast League. The Grizzlies fell behind 6-1 and never really threatened the Isotopes in this one.

D.J. Fisher opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 2nd inning. Fresno's other scoring play came in the 6th, when Jon Kemmer ripped an RBI double. Kemmer finished 2-4 on the night.

Paulino went 4 innings and allowed 6 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and struck out 7. Reymin Guduan was the first man out of the Fresno bullpen, and in 3 scoreless innings, he allowed 2 hits and struck out 1. Brendan McCurry allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out the side in the 8th.

Evan Grills will make his AAA debut in game 2 of this series. First pitch is at 6:05 Mountain.

Arkansas 4, Corpus Christi 2

CC home runs: None.

The Hooks scored first, but they couldn't get any more runs across.

J.D. Davis ripped a 2-run double in the 1st that turned out to be the Hooks' only scoring play of the night. Ramon Laureano, who scored one of the runs, finished 2-3 with a stolen base (5, 38 season).

Francis Martes went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Albert Minnis allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in the 8th.

In the series finale, Rogelio Armenteros will make his Texas League debut. He'll face Zach Nuding at 6:10.

Lake Elsinore 2, Lancaster 1

Lancaster home runs: None.

The JetHawks' bats went quiet on Saturday night. They managed to tie the game in the 7th, only to see the Storm retake the lead in the 8th.

Bryan Muñiz led off the 7th with a double, advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, and scored Lancaster's only run on a sac fly from Osvaldo Duarte. The double was their only extra-base hit of the night; Trent Woodward and Jason Martin had singles, which were their other two hits in the game.

Elieser Hernandez and Scott Weathersby pitched 4 innings apiece; Hernandez allowed a run on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6, while Weathersby allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4.

The JetHawks will look to avoid the sweep as Dean Deetz gets the start. He'll take on Enyel De Los Santos at 5:00 Pacific.

Kane County 4, Quad Cities 2

QC home runs: None.

For 8 innings, the Banditos' offense was rendered useless by Emilio Vargas, who struck out 17 for the Cougars. They finally got to him in the 9th, but the rally fell short.

Jake Rogers tripled to lead off the bottom of the 9th and scored Quad Cities' first run on an error that allowed Bobby Wernes to reach. Wernes advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and scored on a Dex McCall single. Rogers had 2 of the River Bandits' 3 hits on the evening.

In his Quad Cities debut, Enrique Chavez went 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer), walked 2, and struck out 4. Nick Hernandez was also making his Quad Cities debut, and he allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2 innings. Zac Person allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 in 3 innings.

Yoanys Quiala will start the series finale, and he'll take on Carlos Hernandez at 1:15.

Hudson Valley 4, Tri-City 3

W- Porter Clayton (3-1)

TC home runs: None.

The Renegades' two 2-run innings trumped the ValleyCats' one-run and 2-run innings. Tri-City had the tying run on base in the 9th, but Gabriel Bracamonte grounded into the game-ending double play.

Chuckie Robinson opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. Both teams scored two in the 5th; the ValleyCats' two runs came home thanks to an RBI double from Miguelangel Sierra and an RBI single from Brauly Mejia. Sierra finished 3-4 on the night, and Mejia went 2-4.

Austin Nicely allowed 4 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 4.1 innings. In his Tri-City debut, Devin Raftery went 1.2 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 4. Ryan Hartman pitched the final 3 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4.

Sebastian Kessay will start game 2 of this series. First pitch is at 5:00 Eastern.

Danville 7, Greeneville 4

L- Cristian Javier (1-1, 4-2 season)

Greeneville home runs: None.

The Appy Astros fell behind 6-1 as they dropped the series.

Cristian Javier went 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits (solo homer) and struck out 4. Ben Smith and Carson LaRue pitched 2 innings apiece; Smith allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1, while LaRue struck out 3.

Connor MacDonald finished 3-4 with a double, and he scored Greeneville's first run of the game on a single from Ruben Castro in the 5th inning. Reiny Beltre hit an RBI groundout in the 6th. Abraham Toro grounded into a force out that allowed Stijn van der Meer to score in the 8th, and Luis Payano hit a sac fly in the 9th. Castro finished 2-4 on the evening.

Greeneville will begin a 3-game series in Burlington tonight at 6:00 Eastern. Jorge Guzman will get the start.

GCL Mets 7, GCL Astros 2

GCL home runs: None.

The Kissimmee Stros scored first, but it was all Mets afterwards. I believe that the GCL Astros have been eliminated from playoff contention with this loss.

Jose Benjamin opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the 1st, and one batter later, Bernardo Heras brought him home with a single. Heras finished 2-3 on the day.

Bryan Abreu went 4 innings and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. Juan Robles was the first man out of the bullpen, and he allowed 2 unearned runs on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 2.2 innings. Saul Martinez allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 1.1 innings.

DSL Rays1 10, DSL Astros Blue 5

W- Ender Cespedes (1-0)
L- Jesus Bernaez (1-4)

Blue home runs: None.

The Rays buried the Blue team with a 5-run 5th inning.

Angel De Leon opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. He went 2-5, with his other hit being a double. Nestor Tejada followed with an RBI single. Ronny Jimenez hit a sac fly in the 5th, and in the 6th, Alfredo Angarita hit a sac fly and Ronny Rafael scored on a wild pitch.

Juan Corniel went 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. Jesus Bernaez got shelled in his 2 innings; he allowed 7 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer), walked 2, and struck out 3. Yeremi Ceballos allowed a hit and hit a batter in a scoreless 7th, and Jean Reyes walked 1 and struck out 1 in a scoreless 8th.

DSL Phillies2 2, DSL Astros Orange 1

All of the scoring in this game was done in the 8th inning. However, the Phillies' half-inning was more productive than the Orange team's.

Samir Caraballo's RBI single in the 8th was the Orange team's only scoring play of the game. Yordan Alvarez and Yeuris Ramirez had 2 hits apiece.

Maikel Sepulveda allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3 over 6 shutout innings. Asael Uribe pitched the final 3 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3.

Fresno home runs: Danny Worth (9, solo in 1st)

The Grizzlies managed to tie the game with 3 runs in the 6th... only to see the Cubs re-take the lead with a homer in the 7th.

Fresno was held to just 4 hits in this game; Danny Worth's solo homer in the 1st opened the scoring. In the 6th inning, Colin Moran led off with a single, and then Worth and Jon Kemmer drew walks to join him on the bases. Max Stassi drew a walk to bring in Moran. Jon Singleton followed with a sac fly, and Alejandro Garcia added an RBI single. Garcia finished 2-4 on the night.

Brad Peacock went 5.2 innings and allowed 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and struck out 7. Brendan McCurry was the first man out, and the two runs he allowed in his 2.1 innings came on a home run hit by Tim Federowicz in the 7th inning. McCurry allowed 2 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Jordan Jankowski struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Tonight, the Grizzlies will begin a 4-game series with Omaha, and Keegan Yuhl will get the start. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi was off

For the final time in 2016, the Hooks will embark on their tour of Arkansas. In the first leg of this tour, they'll start a 3-game series with Northwest Arkansas tonight at 7:05. Evan Grills will take on Ashton Goudeau.

High Desert 8, Lancaster 5

Lancaster home runs: Myles Straw (1, led off game), Jason Martin (19, 2-run in 1st), Marc Wik (4, solo in 6th)

Both teams scored 3 runs in the 1st, but the JetHawks were largely quiet afterwards.

4 of Lancaster's 5 runs in this game scored on home runs. Myles Straw led off the game with his first home run as a pro. Later in the 1st inning, Jason Martin launched a 2-run homer. Johnny Sewald hit an RBI single in the 8th inning. Straw and Wik both finished 2-4 on the evening.

Josh James allowed 5 runs on 10 hits (solo homer), walked 4, and struck out 4 in 5.2 innings. Scott Weathersby pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 2.

Game 2 of this series will start at 7:05 Pacific.

Clinton 9, Quad Cities 3

The Banditos had a 3-run 2nd inning.... unfortunately, that was the only inning in which they scored. The LumberKings finished this game on a 9-0 run.

Hector Roa opened the scoring with a 2-run homer, and Anthony Hermelyn followed by whacking a solo homer. Spencer Johnson and Ryne Birk both went 2-4.

Yoanys Quiala went 2.1 innings and allowed 6 runs (4 earned, 1 inherited runner charged to him) on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Zac Person tagged in for 4 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1; he inherited a bases-loaded situation from Quiala, and one of the runners scored. Juan Carlos Santos pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, walked 2, and fanned 4.

Agapito Barrios will start game 2 of this series. He'll take on Pablo Lopez at 6:30.

Tri-City is on its All-Star break

The New York-Penn League All-Star game will take place tonight in Wappingers Falls, New York. First pitch is 5:35 Eastern. RHP Enrique Chavez, C Chuckie Robinson, and 1B Taylor Jones will represent the ValleyCats.

Kingsport 5, Greeneville 4

Greeneville home runs: None.

The Appy Astros walked off with a loss to drop the Kingsport portion of the series.

Connor MacDonald put Greeneville on the board with an RBI single in the 4th inning. Reiny Beltre hit a one-out double in the 5th and wound up scoring on a passed ball to give Greeneville the lead. The K-Mets responded with 2 in the bottom of the 5th to regain the lead, but the Appy Astros scored 2 of their own in the 6th to go back in front. Frankeny Fernandez hit a one-out single, stole his way to 3rd, and scored on a wild pitch. Ray Henderson, who was at bat at the time, followed by ripping an RBI double. Henderson finished 2-4 on the night; after his two steals, Fernandez now has 13 on the year.

Carlos Sanabria went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. Jorge Guzman went 3.2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 7; the winning run scored with 2 outs in the 9th.

The series finale is just underway in Greeneville. Patrick Sandoval is taking on Sixto Torres.

Both teams scored in the 2nd inning, but the Kissimmee Stros couldn't muster up any more runs. Wilson Amador's RBI single was it for them. Edgar Lorenzo finished 2-4.

Leovanny Rodriguez went 4 innings and allowed 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and struck out 4. Enoli Paredes struck out 2 over 3 perfect innings, and Dariel Aquino allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 2 innings.

DSL Astros Orange 6, DSL Rangers2 2

Orange home runs: None.

A 3-run 6th inning tipped the scales in the Orange team's favor.

Yordan Alvarez opened the scoring with a sac fly in the 1st inning. Jose Carrillo drove in another run with a groundout in the 5th inning. The Orange team got RBI singles from Ramiro Rodriguez, Renaigel Martis, and Kendy Moya in the 6th, and Ramiro grounded into a force out that allowed Ronaldo Urdaneta to score in the 7th inning. Moya went 2-3 with a double and a run scored.

Maikel Sepulveda went 5 innings and allowed an unearned run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Asael Uribe waas the first man out of the bullpen, and he allowed a hit, walked 2, and struck out 2. The one hit that Christian Mejias allowed in the 8th was a solo home run to Stanley Martinez. He walked 2 and struck out 1. Freylin Garcia struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Tri-City and the complex league teams took center stage on an otherwise quiet night on the farm.

Fresno is on its All-Star break

The Triple-A All-Star Game will take place tonight in Charlotte.

Corpus Christi was off

The Texas League iteration of the Lone Star Series fires up once again tonight at 7:05. Cy Sneed will start game 1.

Lancaster was off

The JetHawks will begin a 4-game series with San Jose at 6:35 Pacific. Josh James will take on Jason Forjet.

Quad Cities was off

The River Bandits are in Fort Wayne for 3 games beginning tonight at 7:05 Eastern. Yoanys Quiala faces off against Chris Paddack, a native of Cedar Park.

Mahoning Valley 4, Tri-City 3

TC home runs: Jake Rogers (1, 2-run in 9th)

The ValleyCats' comeback bid fell just short.

Stephen Wrenn scored Tri-City's first run on an error in the 4th inning. Jake Rogers whacked a 2-run homer in the top of the 9th to bring the ValleyCats within 1, but that was as close as they could get. Taylor Jones went 3-4 with a double, and Randy César finished 2-4.

Sebastian Kessay was stung by a 4-run 3rd from the Scrappers. In 4.2 innings, he allowed 8 hits, one of which was a 2-run homer, and struck out 8. Erasmo Pinales struck out 3 over 3.1 perfect innings.

The ValleyCats and Scrappers will wrap up their series at 7:05 Eastern.

Greeneville was off

Ben Smith will take the mound for the Appy Astros as they begin a 3-game series with Pulaski tonight at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Marlins 9, GCL Astros 3

This game started out well enough for the Kissimmee Stros, but the Marlins seized control with 5 runs in the 6th inning.

Carlos Machado opened the scoring with a 2-run double in the 3rd, and Wilson Amador added an RBI single in the 4th inning. L.P. Pelletier went 2-4 and scored a run.

Agapito Barrios allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 2 innings. Jorge Guzman tagged in for 3 innings and allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 4. The wheels fell off for Leovanny Rodriguez; in 2 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 5 hits (2-run homer), walked 1, and fanned 4. Junior Garcia only recorded 1 out in the 8th via strikeout. He allowed 3 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him), a double, and walked 4. Luis Ramirez got the final 2 outs of the 8th, but not before he allowed a sacrifice fly that scored one of Garcia's runners. Manuel Gonzalez allowed an unearned run on a sac fly in the 9th; the runner reached on an error.

The GCL Astros will take on the Cardinals today.

DSL Astros Blue 3, DSL Red Sox1 1 in 10 innings

L- Eduard Bazardo (2-1)

Blue home runs: None.

The Blue team took advantage of some wildness from the Red Sox in the first extra frame.

Nicolás Miranda put the Blue team on the board with an RBI single in the 6th. Miranda walked to lead off the top of the 10th inning. He advanced to 2nd on a Ronny Jimenez sacrifice bunt, to 3rd on a wild pitch, and scored the go-ahead run on another wild pitch. Jose Benjamin scored another run on another wild pitch. Angel Tejeda and César Cortez had 2 hits apiece.

Juan Carlos Lopez allowed a hit, walked 3, and struck out 1 over 4 scoreless innings. Yeremi Ceballos was the first man out of the bullpen, and in 3 innings, he allowed a run on 4 hits and walked 1. Ronel Blanco allowed a hit, walked 2, and struck out 3 in 3 innings.

DSL Astros Orange 4, DSL Rays2 3 in 11 innings

W- Jacques Sambo (1-0)
L- Marlon Constante (3-2)

Orange home runs: None.

The Orange team walked off with a win thanks to an error.

Anthony Rodriguez reached on a fielder's choice in the 2nd; an error on the play allowed Ramiro Rodriguez to score the game's first run. Vicente Mota hit a sac fly in the 7th, and Ramiro Rodriguez did the same in the 8th to tie the game. Gilberto Celestino reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the 11th, and two errors later, he scored the winning run. Ronaldo Urdaneta and Enmanuel Valdez both had 2 hits in the game.

Maikel Sepulveda allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 over 5 shutout innings. Yohan Ramirez went 1,1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Cristofer Melendez was next; he allowed 3 hits and struck out 4 over 3.2 scoreless, and Jacques Sambo allowed a hit and struck out 1 in a scoreless 11th.
