The E-Train came out on top to begin this crucial series.

José Urquidy and two relievers combined on the shutout. Urquidy started things off by allowing three hits, walking one, and striking out eight in 5.2 innings of work. Riley Ferrell was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and he walked three and struck out four in 2.1 innings and Ralph Garza allowed a hit and struck out one in the 9th to complete the shutout.

Chas McCormick ripped an RBI double in the 3rd to open the scoring. The Express went off for five in the 4th after loading the bases to lead off the inning. Alex De Goti hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Taylor Jones to score; an error on the play also allowed Nick Tanielu to come home. Ronnie Dawson hit a sac fly that scored Lorenzo Quintana. McCormick smacked an RBI triple and scored on Drew Ferguson's single. McCormick and Dawson both had two hits apiece.

Kent Emanuel goes up against Thomas Jankins in game two. First pitch is at 7:05.

Arkansas 5, Corpus Christi 2

For a while, the Hooks were on the wrong end of a perfect game. Unfortunately, Corpus also dropped their third game in a row, dropping their elimination number to four. They basically might have to win out and hope Midland and Frisco stumble along the way.

Bryan de la Cruz quashed the Travs' perfect game bid when he tripled to lead off the 7th. He wound up scoring on J.J. Matijevic's groundout. De La Cruz, who went 2-4, drove in Corpus Christi's other run with an RBI single in the 8th.

Brandon Bailey went four innings and allowed three runs on five hits (two-run homer) while striking out eight. Willy Collado was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and he allowed an unearned run on five hits and struck out one in 2.1 innings. Tommy DeJuneas tagged in for 1.2 innings and allowed a run on a wild pitch, walked two, and out two. Nick Hernandez walked one and struck out two in a scoreless 9th.

Enoli Paredes will take on Ian McKinney in game two. First pitch is at 6:15.

Fayetteville 4, Carolina 3

Fayetteville home runs: Chandler Taylor (12, 2-run in 1st)

The Woodpeckers took over the second-half lead in the Carolina League's Southern division behind a strong outing from Luis Garcia.

Chandler Taylor whacked a two-run homer in the 1st and David Hensley ripped a two-run double in the 5th. Taylor finished 3-4 on the night while Hensley and Miguelangel Sierra had two hits apiece. Michael Papierski went 0-3 with a couple of strikeouts, but he also drew a couple of walks and scored two of the four Fayetteville runs.

Garcia walked four and struck out ten over five shutout innings. Leovanny Rodriguez pitched 1.2 innings and allowed three runs on three hits, walked two, and struck out two. César Rosado tagged in for 1.1 innings, walking one and striking out one. Riley Cabral allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out the side in the 9th to get the save.

Shawn Dubin will take on Wuilder Rodriguez in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Kane County 8, Quad Cities 1

Quad Cities got on the board first... and then Kane County scored all of the other runs in this game.

Trey Dawson's RBI single in the 1st was the Banditos' lone scoring play. He and Freúdis Nova both finished 2-4.

R.J. Freure went 5.1 innings and allowed five runs (four earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on seven hits, walked two, and struck out three. Devin Conn was the first man out of the Banditos bullpen and he allowed three runs (one earned) of his own on five hits, walked one, and struck out one. Luis de Paula struck out the side in order in the 9th.

José Alberto Rivera will start the series finale and he'll take on Matt Tabor at 6:35.

Hunter Brown allowed a run on two hits, walked one, and struck out four in two innings. Derek West was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and he allowed two runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out two in 1.2 innings of work. Danny Cody was next and he allowed three runs (one earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on two hits, walked one, and struck out two in two innings. Peyton Battenfield went 2.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out three.

The E-Train got out to a fast start as they earned the split in this series.

José Urquidy pitched six innings and allowed a run on a solo homer, one of five hits that he allowed during his evening. He walked one and struck out nine. Dean Deetz took over for two innings and allowed a run on a wild pitch, a hit, walked three, and struck out three. Felipe Paulino worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th.

Round Rock scored three in the 1st thanks to a Kyle Tucker sac fly and a two-run single from Nick Tanielu. Abraham Toro finished 3-5 with an RBI single in the 5th inning. Tanielu, Taylor Jones, Drew Ferguson, and Jamie Ritchie all finished with two hits on the night.

Round Rock has Wednesday off. They'll start a four-game series with Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Corpus Christi 6, Frisco 2

CC home runs: Jonathan Arauz (10, solo in 4th), Colton Shaver (19, solo in 5th), Jake Adams (18, 2-run in 5th)

A show of power propelled the Hooks to the victory.

Jonathan Arauz launched a solo homer in the 4th to open the scoring. Corpus scored three in the 5th thanks to a pair of homers from Colton Shaver (solo) and Jake Adams (two-run). In the 7th, Bryan de la Cruz hit a sac fly and Arauz grounded into a force out allowed Osvaldo Duarte to score. Adams finished 2-3 and went deep for the third game in a row.

Chad Donato allowed two runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out five in 5.2 innings. Nick Hernandez tagged in for 2.1 scoreless innings and allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out four. Erasmo Pinales allowed a hit and walked one in a scoreless 9th.

Brandon Bailey will take on Richelson Peña in game three of this series. First pitch is at 6:15.

Fayetteville 5, Down East 3

Some timely hitting early on proved to be the key for the Woodpeckers as they came away with game one of this series.

Corey Julks kept the 1st inning alive by drawing a walk and Chandler Taylor joined him on the bases after getting plunked. Michael Papierski and Scott Schreiber both followed with RBI singles. Jeremy Peña ripped a double to extend the 2nd inning, Miguelangel Sierra drew a walk, and Julks followed with an RBI single. In the 4th, Sierra hit a sac fly and Julks added another RBI single to his ledger. Julks, Cal Stevenson, and David Hensley all had two hits on the night.

Parker Mushinski went four innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked three, and struck out six. Leovanny Rodriguez was the first man out of the Fayetteville bullpen and he went 2.2 innings, allowing a run on two hits and fanning three. Riley Cabral followed with 1.1 scoreless innings; he allowed two hits and got all four of his outs via the strikeout. Humberto Castellanos worked around a walk in the 9th to close out the game.

Luis Garcia takes the mound for game two of this series and he'll go against Reid Anderson at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities was off

The River Bandits will kick off a three-game series with Beloit at 6:35. Jonathan Bermúdez gets the start in game one and he'll face Reid Birlingmair.

The ValleyCats' bid to sweep the series was quashed as they were shut out.

Bryan Arias had a couple of base hits and he also drew a walk.

Kyle Serrano allowed a hit and walked one in a scoreless 1st inning. Jairo Lopez tagged in for 4.2 innings and he allowed two runs (one inherited runner scored and was charged to him), a hit, walked five, and struck out three. Christian Mejías allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out two in 2.1 innings.

The ValleyCats are back home and they'll begin a three-game series with Aberdeen at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Astros 9, GCL Marlins 3

GCL home runs: Gerry Castillo (1, 2-run in 1st), Yimmi Cortabarria (3, 3-run in 5th)

Both teams had nine hits, but the Palm Beach 'Stros got a couple of multi-run homers to propel them to victory.

Gerry Castillo launched a two-run homer in the 1st to open the scoring. Nerio Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch in the 4th and Yimmi Cortabarria whacked a three-run homer in the 5th. Colin Barber hit an RBI single in the 6th and they got a pair of RBI singles from Rainier Rivas and Rolando Espinosa in the 7th. Rivas and Barber both finished 2-4 on the day.

Cionel Perez allowed two hits and struck out two in the 1st inning. Jacob Billingsley and Heitor Tokar both pitched two scoreless innings; Billingsley allowed a hit and fanned three while Tokar allowed two hits and struck out one. Ryan Gusto was next; he pitched 1.2 innings and allowed two runs (one earned), a hit, walked three, and struck out three. Julio Robaina allowed a run on three hits and struck out one over the final 2.1 innings.

DSL Athletics 4, DSL Astros 2

The Astros held the A's to one scoring inning. Problem is... the A's scored four in that one inning.

Yohander Martinez ripped an RBI double in the 1st and Roilan Machandy scored on a wild pitch in 5th. Machandy stole three bases, giving him 11 in 17 games.

Fabricio Reina walked two and struck out six over four scoreless innings. Ricardo León got the 5th but he only got one out via strikeout; he allowed three runs (all inherited runners that scored) and walked three. Luis Vega allowed an unearned run of his own on three hits, walked one, and struck out two in 3.2 innings.

The E-Train scored three runs in the 9th to snatch this game from the Missions' grasp.

José Urquidy threw six shutout innings, allowing five hits, walking two, and striking out nine. Urquidy became the first pitcher in the system to strike out 100 batters this season. Ralph Garza Jr., Reymin Guduan, and Felipe Paulino all pitched an inning. Garza got the 7th and he allowed three hits, one of which was a two-run homer, and struck out two. Guduan walked one and struck out the side in the 8th, and Paulino allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save.

Jack Mayfield opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 6th inning. Nick Tanielu smacked a one-out double in the 9th, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored the tying run on Josh Rojas' double. Rojas advanced to third on a wild pitch and after A.J. Reed was intentionally walked, he scored the go-ahead run when Jamie Ritchie hit into a fielder's choice. Chas McCormick hit an RBI single for insurance.

The Express and Missions will play game three of this series at 7:05.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will start a four-game series in Amarillo tonight at 7:05.

The Banditos took this game by withstanding a five-run 4th from the Bees and getting some Houdini-esque escapes from José Alberto Rivera on the mound.

José Bravo allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out seven in four innings of work. Rivera got the last five innings and allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out six. He got out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the 6th unscathed and then stranded two runners in scoring position in the 7th. A caught stealing got Rivera out of the 8th and he managed to strand two runners to end the game.

Jeremy Peña opened the scoring by whacking a solo homer in the 3rd and Oscar Campos drove in another run by ripping an RBI double. Quad Cities scored three times in the 5th on a wild pitch that allowed Michael Wielansky to score, an Austin Dennis sac fly, and an RBI single from Campos. Peña scored on an error in the 7th and Alex McKenna drove in a run with a groundout in the 8th. Campos went 3-4 on the evening. Peña (solo HR, 3 R, SB) and Ross Adolph (2B, 2 R) both finished 2-4 on the night.

Felipe Tejada takes on Robinson Pina as this series shifts to the Quad Cities for the final two games. First pitch is at 6:35.

Game 1: Lowell 2, Tri-City 1 (8 innings)

The ValleyCats tied up game one with a run in the 7th... only to see the Spinners walk off with the victory after scoring in the first extra frame.

Preston Pavlica launched a solo homer in the 7th, his first pro home run, which ended up being the ValleyCats' only scoring play in this game. E.P. Reese and Nathan Perry had two hits apiece.

Jayson Schroeder went four innings and allowed a run on six hits, walked two, and struck out three. Miguel Figueroa was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen in game one and he was excellent as he walked one and struck out three over three scoreless. Hansel Paulino allowed the game-winning hit, a single, to lead off the 8th.

Game 2: Lowell 7, Tri-City 0

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats were swept in the doubleheader as they were shut out in game two.

All they got on offense in game two was a Juan Paulino single. Paulino also stole a base, his fourth of the season.

Christian Mejías went 3.2 innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out a career-high ten batters. Michael Horrell got Mejías out of a predicament to end the 4th and he went on to pitch 1.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on two hits, walking one, and striking out two. Shea Barry got the final two outs in the 6th inning and he allowed three unearned runs, a bases-clearing triple, and walked two. I think he'd like a do-over for his professional debut.

Angel Macuare gets the start in the series finale and he'll face Yusniel Padrón-Artilles at 7:05 Eastern.

GCL Mets 11, GCL Astros 6

L- Whit Drennan (0-1)

GCL home runs: Colin Barber (1, solo in 5th), Nerio Rodriguez (1, solo in 8th)

The Palm Beach 'Stros scored three in the top of the 8th to tie this game at 6... and then the Mets regained control by scoring five in the bottom of the 8th.

Brayan de Paula pitched four innings and allowed two runs on two hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out four. Diosmerky Taveras was next and he allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits, walked two, and struck out two. Whit Drennan and Jherson Pereira both pitched an inning. Well, Drennan came on for the 8th but he failed to record an out in that inning. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out one. Jherson Pereira took ownership of the 8th and allowed four runs (one earned) a hit, walked two, and struck out one.

Nerio Rodriguez singled in the 1st and an error on the play allowed Colin Barber to score. Barber launched his first career home run in the 5th and Nerio followed with an RBI single. Nerio smacked a homer to lead off the 8th and then the GCL squad got two more runs in the inning as Yeuris Ramirez scored on an error following a Yefri Carrillo single. Carrillo came home on a double from José Álvarez. Nerio finished 4-5 on the afternoon and Barber went 2-3.

The Astros will take on the Cardinals at noon Eastern.

DSL Braves 4, DSL Astros 3

The Dominican 'Stros rally fell just short.

Yohander Martinez scored the DSL squad's first run of the day by stealing home in the 6th. Ricardo Toro hit an RBI single in the 8th and he came around to score on a double from Andrés Monzón.

Fabricio Reina pitched two innings and allowed two runs on a double play and a wild pitch, a single, walked one, and struck out one. Edinson Batista and Daniel Pacheco pitched three innings apiece. Batista walked two and struck out six while Pacheco allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

The Astros will host the Red Sox 1 at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The E-Train scored twice in the 7th to break a 1-1 tie... only to see the I-Cubs re-tie the game in the 8th and walk off with the win in the 9th.

Jamie Ritchie led off the 6th with a homer and Nick Tanielu smacked a two-run homer in the 7th to give Round Rock a 3-1 lead. Taylor Jones went 3-4 with a couple of doubles. Ritchie, Tanielu, and Drew Ferguson all had two hits on the evening.

José Urquidy pitched six innings and allowed two runs on five hits (solo homer) and struck out seven. Brendan McCurry threw a 1-2-3 7th inning and Humberto Castellanos allowed the winning run with two outs in the 9th. In 1.2 innings, Castellanos allowed two runs on three hits (solo homer), walked one, and struck out two.

Cy Sneed gets the start in game two of this series and he'll take on Alec Mills at 7:08.

Corpus Christi 10, Springfield 2

Well, it might be safe to say that George Springer could be ready soon. The Hooks smashed the Cardinals on the strength of six home runs.

Seth Beer opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the 1st. Aníbal Sierra and George launched back-to-back solo homers to lead off the 3rd and Beer launched a solo homer of his own later in the inning. In the 4th, George clubbed a three-run homer and Ronnie Dawson smacked a solo shot. Beer drove in the only Corpus run that was not the product of a home run with an RBI single in the 6th inning.

Springer went 2-4 in his first rehab game. Beer finished 3-4 on the evening, while Dawson and Sierra also had two hits on the night.

Cristian Javier was untouchable as he walked three and struck out ten over five scoreless and hitless innings. Tommy DeJuneas was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he allowed two runs, both of which were inherited runners that were charged to him, on two hits, walked one, and struck out one in 2.1 innings. Justin Ferrell allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out two in 1.2 innings.

Enoli Paredes will face Austin Warner in game two of this series. First pitch is at 7:15.

Fayetteville 10, Myrtle Beach 3

The Woodpeckers started off the second half with a slam.

Luis Garcia went 5.1 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits (two-run homer), walked three, and struck out eight. Jacob Billingsley allowed a hit and struck out four over 2.2 scoreless, and Tanner Duncan struck out two in a 1-2-3 9th.

Michael Papierski opened the scoring by cranking a solo homer in the 1st inning. Jacob Meyers ripped an RBI double in the 3rd and he eventually scored on Jake Adams' sac fly. Papierski drew a bases-loaded walk in the 4th. Miguelangel Sierra drew another bases-loaded walk in the 5th and one batter later, Meyers clubbed a grand slam. Everyone in the lineup had a hit except for Scott Manea, who still managed to score twice.

Chad Donato will be on the mound for game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities 7, Beloit 2

QC home runs: Ross Adolph (6, solo in 5th), David Hensley (5, 2-run in 6th)

The Banditos kicked off the second half with a victory thanks to a huge night for Ross Adolph.

Adolph finished 4-5 and was a triple short of the cycle. He almost got the triple but was thrown out at third and so he had to settle for two doubles. Adolph, who was acquired from the Mets in the J.D. Davis deal back in January, homered and drove in four on Opening Day but he spent much of the first half mired in a slump. He's shown signs of righting the ship as he's gotten his average over the Mendoza Line and his OPS now stands at a respectable .782.

Carlos Machado put Quad Cities on the board with an RBI double in the 2nd inning. Adolph ripped an RBI double in the 3rd and he scored on Oscar Campos' groundout. He launched a solo homer in the 5th and David Hensley smacked a two-run homer in the 6th. Hensley and Jonathan Lacroix both finished with two hits and two runs scored.

Cody Deason threw six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits, walking two, and striking out four. Yeremi Ceballos went 2.1 innings and allowed a run, which was an inherited runner that was charged to him, a hit, walked four, and struck out four. Devin Conn got the last two outs of the inning and allowed a sac fly that resulted in one of Ceballos' runners scoring.

The ValleyCats avoided the sweep in a slugfest.

Joe Perez and C.J. Stubbs opened the scoring by hitting back-to-back home runs in the 2nd, their first home runs as pros. Tri-City loaded the bases to lead off the 4th and turned the situation into four runs as A.J. Lee got plunked and Preston Pavlica grounded out to bring in Matthew Barefoot. Stubbs scored on a wild pitch and Zach Biermann added a sac fly. They added three more in the 9th on a pair of RBI singles from Nathan Perry and Yefri Carrillo and an error that allowed Korey Lee to score.

Perez finished 3-4 on the evening, while Stubbs and the two Lees all had two hits.

Valente Bellozo allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out five over five shutout innings. Angel Macuare pitched three innings and allowed six runs (two inherited runners charged to him) on seven hits (2-run homer), walked two, and struck out two. He pitched in the 9th but failed to record an out. Michael Horrell took ownership of the 9th and he allowed a run of his own on a sac fly, a double that allowed one of Macuare's runners to score, and he got a strikeout to end the game.

Franny Cobos will start the opener of a three-game series against Vermont. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

DSL Rays1 5, DSL Astros 4

The Rays 1 got three in the 8th to take control; the Astros got one run back in the 9th to make it a one-run game but they couldn't get the tying run across.

Both teams scored two runs in the 1st inning; the Dominican 'Stros got theirs on Ricardo Toro's two-run single. Tomás Ramirez singled in the 4th and an error on the play allowed Andrés Monzón to score. Carlos Hurtado hit a sac fly in the 9th. He and Cristian Gonzalez both finished 2-4 on the afternoon.

Daniel Pacheco went four innings and allowed two unearned runs on five hits, walked one, and struck out one. Fabricio Reina was the first man out of the DSL Astros bullpen and he allowed three runs on five hits, walked one, and struck out three. Miguel Padilla walked one and struck out two in 1.1 innings.

These two teams will play again at the Rays' complex at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The E-Train administered a beatdown to close out a series and they administered another beatdown to begin a new series.

José Urquidy allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out eight over six shutout innings. Ralph Garza Jr. was the first man out of the Round Rock bullpen and he went two innings, walking one and striking out one. Ronel Blanco allowed a hit in the 9th but was able to complete the shutout without further incident.

The Express wasted little time in pouring it on as they scored four in the top of the 1st inning. Josh Rojas got things started with a two-run double and he eventually scored on a Taylor Jones sac fly. Drew Ferguson, who walked in front of Jones, scored on Nick Tanielu's triple. Aníbal Sierra grounded into a force out that allowed Jones to score in the 4th and they got two more runs on a sac fly from Alex De Goti and a wild pitch that allowed Oscar Campos to come home.

Rojas doubled to lead off the 9th and one batter later, Yordan Alvarez launched a two-run homer. Ferguson and Jones followed with singles and Sierra capped off the evening with an RBI single that brought Ferguson home.

Rojas finished 3-5 and all three of his hits were doubles. De Goti, Tanielu, and Campos all finished 2-5 on the night.

Game two of this series will start at 6:35 Mountain. Cionel Pérez getting recalled to Houston has thrown the Round Rock rotation out of whack for the time being, so whoever gets the start will take on former Astro Nick Tropeano.

Amarillo 12, Corpus Christi 3

The Sod Poodles put up crooked numbers in all of the innings in which they scored and buried the Hooks on Friday.

Seth Beer led off the 2nd with a homer. Unfortunately, between this play and Corpus Christi's next scoring play, Amarillo went on a 12-0 run. The Hooks scored twice in the 9th as Chuckie Robinson came home on a double play and Ramiro Rodríguez hit an RBI single. No one in the Corpus lineup had more than one hit.

Bryan Abreu went four innings and allowed three runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out seven. Yohan Ramirez came out for the 5th to make his second Texas League appearance. He got two outs via the strikeout, but I think he'd like a do-over. Carlos Sanabria didn't fare much better; he allowed two runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out one in 1.1 innings. Tommy DeJuneas was the only Corpus pitcher to turn in a scoreless outing as he allowed a hit and struck out two in two innings. Carlos Canelón got the 9th and he allowed three runs on four hits, one of which was a two-run homer.

Cristian Javier will take on Kyle Lloyd in game three of this series. First pitch is at 7:15.

Wilmington 2, Fayetteville 0

There was one scoring play in this game and it did not belong to the Woodpeckers.

Jacob Meyers and Miguelangel Sierra had two hits apiece. Meyers doubled to lead off the game and that turned out to be the only extra-base hit of the game.

Chad Donato allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out four over six shutout innings. Wilmington got to Brett Conine for a two-run single in the 7th that was the one scoring play in this game. Conine allowed two other hits, walked two, and struck out three over the final two innings.

Shawn Dubin gets the start in game three of this series. He'll face Jackson Kowar at 6:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities 2, Kane County 0

Normally, when a team's pitchers issue ten walks in a game, their team usually loses. This game proved to be the exception, however, as R.J. Freure and Julio Robaina battled their wildness and somehow managed to keep the Cougars off the board at the same time.

The Banditos also returned to the Quad Cities after another flood threat forced them to move the previous series to Peoria.

Both of them allowed two hits and walked five. Freure struck out six in 5.1 innings, while Robaina struck out two over the final 3.2 innings to complete the shutout.

Jeremy Peña opened the scoring with an RBI infield single in the 5th and Trey Dawson added a sac fly in the 6th inning. Peña, Austin Dennis, and Freúdis Nova all finished 2-4 on the evening.

Game two of this series will begin at 6:35.

DSL Astros 5, DSL Athletics 1

The DSL team continued their fine start to the season.

Reimy Beltre pitched two innings and allowed a run on a bases-loaded walk, one of two walks that he issued, and struck out three. Jherson Pereira tagged in for five innings and he allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out seven. Ronny Garcia got the last two innings and allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

Ricardo Balogh put the Academy on the board with a two-run single in the 4th. Omar Díaz ripped an RBI double in the 6th and then stole home as part of a double steal. Junior Marte, who stole second on the double steal and then moved to third on an errant throw, scored on Frank Perez's groundout. Díaz and Marte scored two runs apiece.

The DSL Astros' next two games will be against the Braves. They'll host the Braves at their complex at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The Express tied this game in the 8th and walked off with the win in the first extra frame.

José Urquidy went 5.1 innings and allowed a run on two hits, walked four, and struck out five. Humberto Castellanos jumped right into the fray after getting summoned from Quad Cities. He allowed a hit and struck out two in 3.2 innings as the first man out of the E-Train bullpen. Reymin Guduan struck out two in a 1-2-3 10th and eventually earned the victory.

Well, it took Round Rock eight innings before they could push a run across, but hey, better late than never. A.J. Reed led off the bottom of the 8th with a homer to tie the game at 1. Reed started the 10th in scoring position and he wound up scoring the winning run on Lorenzo Quintana's base hit.

Both teams will transform into their Copa de la Diversión identities to wrap up the series. The Round Rock Chupacabras will face the Demonios de Des Moines at 1:05. Cy Sneed will face Colin Rea.

Corpus Christi and Frisco was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for Sunday with game one starting at 3:30. Bryan Abreu will face Tyler Phillips in game one. Game two is scheduled to start at 6:05; Cristian Javier takes on Joe Palumbo.

Fayetteville 2, Wilmington 1

Fayetteville home runs: Scott Schreiber (2, 5 season; walk-off solo in 9th)

The Woodpeckers scored the first run of the game in the 1st and walked off with the victory by scoring the last run of the game in the 9th. After finding themselves on the losing end of an inordinate amount of walk-offs, they finally notched a walk-off victory, their first in franchise history. As a result, Fayetteville earned the split in this series.

Colton Shaver ripped an RBI double in the 1st to open the scoring and Scott Schreiber won the game with a home run to start the bottom of the 9th. Shaver finished 3-4 on the night, while former Nebraska teammates Schreiber and Jacob Meyers had two hits apiece.

Brett Conine's outstanding year continued as he allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out a career-high 12 over six shutout innings. This was the first double-digit strikeout game of Conine's professional career. Leovanny Rodriguez allowed a run on two hits and struck out one in two innings and César Rosado got two groundouts and a fly ball out in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Fayetteville starts a three-game series with Winston-Salem tonight at 6:00 Eastern.

There was only one run in this game and it belonged to Quad Cities.

Austin Dennis scored that run when Freúdis Nova grounded into a force out in the 6th; an error on the play allowed him to come home. His double in the 8th was the game's only extra-base hit. Jeremy Peña's single to lead off the 4th extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Luis Garcia and Brett Daniels joined forces to throw a two-hit shutout; they allowed one hit apiece and combined to strike out 16. Garcia started things off by walking three and tying a career high with ten strikeouts in six innings. Daniels walked two and struck out six over the final three innings to complete the shutout.

Austin Hansen will start the series finale and he'll face José Soriano at 2:00.

DSL Astros 6, DSL Royals1 4

The Academy opened up their season with a victory.

Carlos Hurtado drove in the DSL team's first run of the season with an RBI triple in the 1st and he eventually scored on a single from Frank Perez. Omar Díaz stole home as part of a double steal in the 5th inning. They got two more runs in the 6th as Jesús Liranzo scored on a wild pitch and Cristian Gonzalez hit a groundout that allowed Carlos Quintero to score. Gonzalez scored on a single from Andrés Monzón in the 8th inning. Monzón and Quintero, a pitcher who was serving as the DH in this game, both finished 2-4 on the day.

Jherson Pereira got the start and he went four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and striking out six. Reimy Beltre was the first man out of the bullpen and he allowed two runs (one inherited runner charged to him), a hit, walked three, and struck out two. Ronny Garcia was next; he allowed a hit and walked one in 1.2 innings. José Betances and Cristofer Mezquita followed with an inning apiece. Betances allowed a run on a groundout, a hit, walked one, and struck out one in the 8th, while Mezquita walked one and struck out two in the 9th.

Sunday is the designated day off in the Dominican Summer League. These two teams will play each other again on Monday.
