The Grizzlies had to settle for a split in Sin City as they dropped the last two games after blasting the 51s in the first two.

J.D. Davis drew a bases-loaded walk in the 3rd to put Fresno on the board. One batter later, A.J. Reed hit a two-run single. Davis scored when Tim Federowicz grounded into a double play. Alejandro Garcia hit a sac fly in the 8th. Davis and Tony Kemp both had two hits; Kemp extended his hitting streak to 17 games.

David Paulino went five innings and allowed four runs on four hits, walked four, and struck out eight. The 51s got to Andrew Thome in the 6th for four runs, with three of them coming on a Cody Asche homer. Thome allowed two other hits and walked one. Reymin Guduan allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out five in two scoreless innings.

Fresno is back home and they'll start a four-game series with Salt Lake tonight at 7:05 Pacific. Trent Thornton takes on Dylan Unsworth.

Midland 7, Corpus Christi 6

The RockHounds scored twice in the 8th to edge the Hooks on Friday.

Framber Valdez went five innings and allowed five runs on eight hits (2-run homer), walked three, and struck out nine. Justin Ferrell and Ralph Garza Jr. both threw two innings. In his Texas League debut, Ferrell allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out three, while Garza allowed a hit and struck out three.

Carmen Benedetti opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. Stephen Wrenn ripped a two-run double in the 2nd and scored on a Josh Rojas single. Corpus got two more in the 6th as Randy César scored on a wild pitch and Alex De Goti hit an RBI single. Myles Straw and Nick Tanielu had three hits apiece; Tanielu scored two runs and Straw stole his 20th base of the season.

Myrtle Beach 9, Buies Creek 6

For the second straight game, the Carolina Stros fought their way out of an early hole, but the Pelicans managed to stay in control this time around.

Hector Perez somehow made his way through five innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits, walked two, and struck out four. Gabriel Valdez came on for the 6th and allowed three runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out one for the two outs he recorded in the inning. Carlos Sierra allowed a run on a balk, a double, walked one, and struck out three in 2.1 innings.

J.J. Matijevic hit an RBI single in the 3rd to put Buies Creek on the board. One batter later, Osvaldo Duarte ripped a two-run double. Abraham Toro hit a single on the 5th and Alfredo Angarita scored on the ensuing error. Chas McCormick added another run on a sac fly. Matijevic added an RBI triple to his ledger in the 9th inning. Toro and Matijevic had three hits apiece. Dawson finished 2-5 on the night.

Carson LaRue faces Jose Paulino in game 3. First pitch is at 6:05 Eastern.

Quad Cities 8, Lake County 1

A little late, but the Banditos' bats came alive.

Parker Mushinski went five innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked five, and struck out six. Dariel Aquino worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 6th, striking out two. Enoli Paredes shut it down by striking out three over three perfect innings.

Miguelangel Sierra put Quad Cities on the board with an RBI single in the 6th and Bryan de la Cruz put them in front with a sac fly. Jake Meyers ripped a two-run double in the 7th, and the Banditos put it away with four in the 8th.

De La Cruz led it off with a walk and then he stole second. Ruben Castro and Cody Bohanek walked to load the bases for Jonathan Lacroix, who hit an RBI single for his first professional hit and RBI. Corey Julks struck out, but Meyers came through with an RBI single and Jonathan Arauz capped off the evening with a two-run single.

Meyers finished 3-5 on the night. Bohanek went 0-2, but he drew a couple of walks and scored twice.

Patrick Sandoval will take on Kirk McCarty in the series finale. First pitch is at 6:35.

After a Saturday filled with doubleheaders, seven nine-inning games was a welcome sight.

Albuquerque 22, Fresno 1

Fresno and Albuquerque will conclude this series at 6:35 Mountain. Kent Emanuel takes the hill for the Grizzlies.

Springfield 7, Corpus Christi 5

The Hooks suffered the sweep, although Saturday's game had a rather contentious ending. The Cardinals took control with 3 in the 5th to tie the game and then scored 4 more in the 6th to take the lead.

Brock Dykxhoorn went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits (3-run homer), walked 2, and fanned 5. Josh James allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2 in 2.2 innings, and Ryan Thompson retired all 4 Cardinals he faced, striking out 2 of them.

Jon Singleton put Corpus on the board first with an RBI single in the 1st. Singleton added another RBI single to his ledger in the 3rd inning and came around to score on Dex McCall's double. Trent Woodward whacked a 2-run homer in the 6th inning. Singleton went 2-3; McCall's RBI double and Woodward's blast were the other two Hooks hits.

After a day off, the Hooks will start a 3-game series in Tulsa on Tuesday.

Buies Creek 5, Down East 4 in 10 innings

BC home runs: Anthony Hermelyn (3, solo in 4th)

The Carolina Stros walked off with the win to avoid the sweep. They fell behind 4-0 but scored the last 5 runs of the day.

Anthony Hermelyn put Buies Creek on the board by homering to start the bottom of the 4th. Yordan Alvarez kicked off the bottom of the 6th with a double and Hermelyn joined him on the bases by singling. Taylor Jones walked to load the bases for Carmen Benedetti, who hit an RBI single to prompt a pitching change. Randy César greeted new Down East pitcher Jeff Springs with a 2-run single that tied the game at 4. 

Myles Straw, who came on to pinch-hit for Benedetti in the 8th, singled to lead off the bottom of the 10th and when he gets on base, he can pretty much score on any kind of base hit. Randy César successfully tested that theory by ripping the double that allowed Straw to score the winning run. Alvarez (2B, R, SB), Hermelyn (solo HR, 2 R), and César (2B, 3 RBI) all went 3-5 on the afternoon.

Jorge Alcala went 4.2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits (solo homer), walked 4, and struck out 4. Sean Stutzman and Kevin Hill picked him up with 5.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Stutzman allowed a hit and struck out 5 in 3.1 innings, while Hill allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 in 2 innings.

Buies Creek will hit the road this week. Their first stop is Lynchburg, Virginia, where they'll play 4 with the Hillcats. Matt Bower will start game 1 against Triston McKenzie; first pitch is at 6:30 Eastern.

Cedar Rapids 7, Quad Cities 6

The Banditos were stunned in the bottom of the 9th as the Kernels scored 4 to steal the win.

All 6 Quad Cities runs scored on the three home runs you see above. Troy Sieber opened the scoring with his solo blast in the 1st inning. Chas McCormick's first pro homer was a grand slam and one batter later, Luis Payano followed with a solo shot of his own. Daz Cameron went 3-4 with a double and scored a run.

Gabriel Valdez pitched 3 innings and allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 5. Jesús Balaguer was the first man out of the Quad Cities bullpen and went 2 innings, allowing a hit and striking out 4. Nathan Thompson pitched 3 scoreless, but then he ran into trouble in the 9th. He allowed 2 runs, both of which were inherited runners that were charged to him, 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. Salvador Montaño couldn't salvage the situation; he allowed the tying and winning runs on 2 hits and walked 2. Neither Thompson nor Montaño recorded an out in the 9th.

Kit Scheetz makes his Quad Cities debut as the Banditos begin a 4-game series against Peoria at 6:35. He'll face Ian Oxnevad.

Williamsport 5, Tri-City 2

The Crosscutters seized control with a 4-run 5th inning to foil the ValleyCats' bid to sweep the series.

In his ValleyCats debut, Adam Bleday allowed a hit and struck out 2 in 2 scoreless innings. Alex House allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in the 3rd inning. Juan Robles went 2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Parker Mushinski pitched the last 3 innings, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 6. 

Colton Shaver put Tri-City on the board with a sac fly in the 4th and Corey Julks hit an RBI single in the 8th inning. Andy Piñeda finished 2-4 with a triple and scored a run.

The 2017 New York-Penn League All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday at Joe Bruno Stadium, home of the ValleyCats. Tri-City will be represented by Hunter Martin, Andy Piñeda, J.J. Matijevic, and Reggie Johnson. Martin replaced Nathan Thompson, who was just promoted to Quad Cities.

Greeneville 5, Kingsport 4

Greeneville home runs: Martin Figueroa (1, solo in 6th)

The Appy Astros got on the board in their series with the K-Mets by scoring 3 after stretch time to take the lead.

Francisco Villegas went 3 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 1. Maikel Sepulveda allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3 in 3.1 innings, and Dariel Aquino walked 1 and struck out 4 over 2.2 scoreless to get the win.

Brody Westmoreland opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. This would be Greeneville's only scoring play until the 6th; in the meantime, Kingsport took a 3-1 lead. Martin Figueroa launched a solo homer in the 6th to get the Appy Astros back on the board. 

Cody Bohanek reached on an error with 2 outs in the 7th to keep the inning alive. Gilberto Celestino joined him on the bases by drawing a walk. Bohanek scored on a Roman Garcia RBI single. Celestino, who advanced to 3rd on the base hit, scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Westmoreland ripped an RBI double that turned out to be the game-winner. Garcia, Westmoreland, and Reiny Beltre all finished with 2 hits on the evening.

Gerardo Bojorquez will face Joe Cavallaro in the series finale. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

GCL Astros 2, GCL Mets 1

GCL home runs: None.

The Astros withstood a 9th-inning rally from the Mets to get the victory.

Enmanuel Valdez went 2-4 and opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 5th inning. He doubled in the 8th and scored the Palm Beach Stros' other run on a double play. Andres Santana also went 2-4.

Juan Pablo Lopez allowed 3 hits and struck out 1 over 4 scoreless. Matt Merrill was the first man out of the bullpen and allowed 2 hits while striking out 3 over 2 innings. Nivaldo Rodriguez allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3 in 2.2 innings. Brendan Feldmann got the last out of the game without any further incident.

Let's play two in Danville!

*Note: Thursdays tend to be incredibly busy at the office so I will usually combine Wednesday and Thursday into one mega-recap. On occasion, I will also combine Thursday and Friday into one if the situation dictates it.

Wednesday: Las Vegas 4, Fresno 2

Fresno home runs: Teoscar Hernandez (11, 2-run in 8th)

Well, the Grizzlies weren't going to score 21 and 19 runs in the rest of their games forever.

Teoscar Hernandez's 2-run blast in the 8th put them in the lead, but the 51s regained control with 3 in the bottom of the 8th. J.D. Davis went 2-4 in his AAA debut. Tony Kemp had a single to extend his hitting streak to 24 games.

The one run that Trent Thornton allowed in his 7 innings came on a Dom Smith solo homer in the 1st inning. After that, it was smooth sailing the rest of the way for him. Thornton allowed 3 other hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Vegas got to Dayan Diaz and Jordan Jankowski in the 8th; Diaz got 2 outs, one via strikeout, but issued walks to the next two batters to load the bases, which prompted Jankowski's entrance. Jankowski got the last out of the inning with a strikeout, but not before he allowed a bases-clearing double to Smith and issued a walk.

Thursday: Fresno 18, Las Vegas 5

Fresno home runs: A.J. Reed 2 (19; 2-run in 5th, 3-run in 7th), Jon Kemmer 2 (13; solo in 6th, solo in 7th), Reid Brignac (12, solo in 2nd), Preston Tucker (17, 3-run in 7th)

What a roadtrip it was for Fresno. The Grizzlies finished 7-1 and outscored Tacoma and Vegas 86-36 in the 8 games. After getting held on Wednesday, the Grizzlies poured it on one last time in Sin City.

Sadly, Tony Kemp missed out on the party as he saw his 24-game hitting streak come to a close.

Kent Emanuel won his first AAA start, going 5 innings and allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, walking 6, and striking out 4. Jacob Dorris and Kyle Smith pitched 2 innings apiece; Dorris allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2, while Smith allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 1.

Dean Deetz gets the start as the Grizzlies welcome Round Rock to the Central Valley. He'll take on David Ledbetter at 7:05 Pacific.

Wednesday: Corpus Christi 6, Frisco 0

W- Alex Winkelman (1-5, 3-5 season)
L- Collin Wiles (7-7)

CC home runs: Jack Mayfield (12, 13 season; 3-run in 6th), Jason Martin (7, 14 season; solo in 7th), Dexture McCall (3, 7 season; 2-run in 8th)

Alex Winkelman was one out away.... and then Andy Ibañez had to ruin the fun.

That's right, Winkelman had a no-hitter going for 8.2 innings until Ibañez put Frisco into the hit column with a 2-out single in the 9th inning. Winkelman walked 2 and struck out 6 in the best outing of his career. Andrew Walter recorded the last out of the game by getting Luke Tendler to line out to Ramon Laureano.

Corpus launched homers in three consecutive innings to account for all six of their runs. Jack Mayfield's 3-run shot came in the 6th, Jason Martin smacked a solo homer in the 7th, and Dex McCall whacked a 2-run homer in the 8th. Ryne Birk singled and scored a run in his Texas League debut.

Thursday: Corpus Christi 5, Midland 3

W- Yoanys Quiala (2-2, 7-3 season)
L- Tyler Sturdevant (1-3)

CC home runs: Jack Mayfield (13, 14 season; solo in 1st), Jason Martin (7, 14 season; solo in 9th), Dexture McCall (4, 8 season; solo in 9th)

For the second straight night, Jack Mayfield, Jason Martin, and Dex McCall all homered for the Hooks, who broke a 3-3 tie thanks to Martin's and McCall's solo blasts in the 9th inning.

Jack Mayfield opened the scoring with his solo shot in the 1st. Arturo Michelena finished 2-3 and scored on a wild pitch in the 3rd inning. Mayfield tied the game at 3 by adding a sac fly to his ledger in the 8th. After Garrett Stubbs grounded out to lead off the 9th, McCall and Martin put Corpus in front.

Brock Dykxhoorn pitched 3.2 innings and allowed a run on 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. Ralph Garza Jr. was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 1.1 innings. Yoanys Quiala allowed an unearned run on 4 hits and struck out 2 in 4 innings.

Cy Sneed takes on Casey Meisner at 7:00. Meisner is a 2013 graduate of Cypress Woods High School.

Thursday: Buies Creek 8, Carolina 3

W- Matt Bower (4-4)
L- Kodi Medeiros (4-8)
S- Kevin Hill (1, 4 season)

BC home runs: Anibal Sierra (4, 2-run in 7th)

The Carolina Stros seized control of this game thanks to a 4-run 5th, then tacked on two more runs in the 7th and the 9th for good measure.

Matt Bower pitched 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (solo homer), walked 2, and struck out 2. Kevin Hill picked him up with 3.2 strong innings out of the bullpen, allowing a hit, walking 1, and striking out 5.

Anthony Hermelyn singled to lead off the 5th, and then Randy César and Tyler Wolfe joined him on the bases by walking and singling, respectively. That brought up Anibal Sierra, who sent them all home with a triple. He ended up scoring the go-ahead run on a Stephen Wrenn sac fly. Sierra smacked a 2-run homer in the 7th, and in the 9th, Wolfe scored on a wild pitch and Jake Rogers capped off the night with a sac fly. Sierra finished a double shy of the cycle and scored 3 runs. Wolfe and César both scored twice; Rogers, Myles Straw, and Wolfe all finished with 2 hits on the night.

Wednesday: Quad Cities 20, Lansing 3

No, I read the box score correctly; Ronnie Dawson homered twice in one inning.

Carson LaRue was the beneficiary of the, um... generous run support. That didn't stop him from turning in a nice outing on the mound; he allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 over 5 shutout innings. Ronel Blanco went 3.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 4. Dustin Hunt recorded a strikeout to end the game.

Thursday: Lansing 3, Quad Cities 2

Both teams had one scoring inning. The Lugnuts managed to get one more than the Banditos.

Josh Rojas smacked a 2-run homer in the 8th for the only Quad Cities runs. He and Daz Cameron both finished 2-4 on the night.

Abdiel Saldaña pitched well, but he had a tough end to his night in the 7th as he allowed 3 runs, 2 of which were inherited runners that were charged to him. In 6.1 innings, Saldaña allowed 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Devon Carr allowed a hit, walked 3, and struck out 2 in 1.2 innings, and Lucas Williams worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Patrick Sandoval makes his second Midwest League start in game 2 of this series. He'll face Osman Gutierrez at 6:35.

Wednesday: Connecticut 3, Tri-City 1

The ValleyCats dropped the series to Connecticut as their bats went silent.

J.J. Matijevic's solo shot in the 7th was their only scoring play.

Tyler Ivey went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 2. Carlos Hiraldo was the first man out of the TC bullpen and allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 3 innings. Luis Ramirez finished it by allowing a hit over 2 scoreless.

Thursday: Lowell 3, Tri-City 1

The ValleyCats' last three games have all ended 3-1. They've dropped two of them.

Matt Ruppenthal allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 3 in 4 innings. Nathan Thompson was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen and allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2 in 3.1 innings. Diogenes Almengo got the last 2 outs of the 8th, one via strikeout.

Miguelangel Sierra smacked a solo homer in the 3rd for Tri-City's only run.

Wednesday Game 1: Danville 7, Greeneville 6

Greeneville home runs: None.

Both teams scored 6 in the 4th, but Danville's run in the 6th was the difference in game 1. The Appy Astros had runners thrown out at the plate twice to end the game.

The Appy Astros turned a bases-loaded situation to start their half of the 4th into their 6 runs. Ruben Castro opened the scoring with a 2-run single and Wilson Amador followed by ripping a 2-run double. Cody Bohanek added an RBI single and Amador scored on a double play. Castro and Colton Shaver both finished 2-4 in the first game.

Felipe Tejada went 3 innings and allowed 4 runs (2 inherited runners charged to him) on 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Ian Hardman allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4, and Willy Collado allowed the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. He also allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2 in the 6th.

Wednesday Game 2: Greeneville 2, Danville 1 in 8 innings

Greeneville home runs: None.

Patrick Mathis got thrown out at the plate to end game 1 and then got into it a little with Danville catcher Drew Lugbauer afterward. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed and it sounds like game 2 went along without any escalating tension.

Both teams scored a run in the 3rd; Greeneville's came on a Gilberto Celestino RBI double. Colton Shaver drove in what turned out to be the winning run with a bases-loaded walk in the 8th inning. Wilson Amador went 2-4 with a stolen base (9) in game 2.

Humberto Castellanos allowed an unearned run on 3 hits and struck out 3 in 5 innings, while Dariel Aquino walked 2 and fanned 6 in 3 scoreless to get the win.

Thursday: Danville 7, Greeneville 6

The Appy Astros couldn't hold a 6-2 lead and Danville wound up walking off with the win with a pair in the bottom of the 9th.

Roman Garcia opened up the scoring with a solo shot in the 1st inning. Brody Westmoreland launched a 2-run homer later in the inning. Martin Figueroa went 3-5 with an RBI single in the 3rd and scored on a Wilson Amador infield single in the 6th. Frankeny Fernandez scored on an errant pickoff throw in the 6th. Westmoreland finished 2-4 on the evening.

Leovanny Rodriguez went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits (solo homer), walked 3, and struck out 6. Tim Hardy pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits (2-run homer), walked 2, and struck out 3. Johsson Arias allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 1.1 innings.

Bryan Abreu will start the first of a 3-game series against Pulaski at 7:00 Eastern.

This game was called with one out in the top of the 6th due to rain.

Corbin Martin walked 1 in 3 scoreless innings, while Brandon Bielak allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 2.1 innings.

Juan Piñeda opened the scoring with an RBI double in the 2nd. The Palm Beach Stros put up 3 in the 3rd thanks to an error that allowed Jonathan Matute and Jose Benjamin to score and an RBI single from Piñeda. He and Benjamin both finished 3-3.

The Palm Beach Stros got their 4 runs in the last 2 innings to nip the Nationals.

Andres Santana ripped an RBI double to put the GCLstros on the board in the 8th. He scored on an Orlando Marquez single after a wild pitch allowed him to get to 3rd. Ronny Rafael drove in the go-ahead run with a single later in the inning. Jose Benjamin provided some insurance with an RBI triple in the 9th.

Juan Pablo Lopez, Ronaldo Marrero, and Nivaldo Rodriguez all pitched 2 innings to start things off. Lopez allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 2. Marrero allowed a run on a sac fly, a hit, walked 3, and struck out 2, while Rodriguez allowed an unearned run on 2 hits and struck out 3. Brendan Feldmann was the only pitcher who didn't throw 2 innings; he struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 7th. Carlos Pimentel allowed a hit, walked 1, and fanned 3 over 2 scoreless.

Wednesday: DSL Astros Blue 6, DSL Royals 0

Blue home runs: Yeuris Ramirez (3, 2-run in 1st), Kendy Moya (1, solo in 9th)

Kendy Moya went 3-3 with a solo homer, a sac fly, and scored 3 runs. Yeuris Ramirez smacked a 2-run homer in the 1st and stole home in the 7th inning. Rhandall Sanchez and Nerio Rodriguez had 2 hits apiece.

Four pitchers combined on the shutout. Oscar Severino and Freylin Garcia started with 3 scoreless innings apiece; Severino allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1, while Garcia allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Renny Ugarte fanned 2 in 2 perfect ininings, and Jervic Chavez struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Thursday: DSL Royals 4, DSL Astros Blue 2

The Royals put up the only crooked number in this one and that made all the difference.

Kendy Moya and Rhandall Sanchez hit RBI singles in the 8th and the 9th, respectively.

Angel Macuare, Jean Reyes, and Fredis Guerrero all threw 3 innings. Macuare allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Reyes allowed 2 hits and fanned 2, and Guerrero allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits and struck out 2.

Wednesday: DSL Astros Orange 6, DSL Pirates 2

Orange home runs: None.

The Orange team regained control with 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th after the Pirates had tied it in the top of the inning.

Freudis Nova ripped an RBI double in the 1st to open the scoring. Jose Alvarez added an RBI single later in the inning. Alvarez put Team Orange back in front with a 2-run double. They loaded the bases and got 2 more runs when Sean Mendoza walked and Jeury Castillo got plunked. Ramiro Rodriguez went 3-4 and scored twice. Alvarez's two hits resulted in runs.

Miguel Matos and Christian Mejias began with 3 scoreless innings; neither of them allowed a hit. Matos walked 2 and struck out 4, while Mejias walked 1 and fanned 4. Jose Alberto Rivera allowed 2 runs (both inherited runners charged to him), a hit, walked 3, and struck out 1 in 1+ innings. Luis De Paula allowed those 2 runs on a sac fly and a wild pitch. He went 2 innings and allowed a hit while striking out 3.

Thursday: DSL Pirates 13, DSL Astros Orange 2

The Grizzlies started off their final roadtrip of the season on a winning note.

Mike Hauschild allowed 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4 over 5 shutout innings. Albert Minnis and Jordan Jankowski both pitched 2 innings out of the Fresno bullpen. Minnis allowed Tacoma's only run on 2 hits and walked 1, while Jankowski walked 1 and struck out 4.

D.J. Fisher led off the game with a double and scored the first run of the evening on a Danny Worth double. Colin Moran followed with a single that brought in Worth. In the 2nd inning, Jon Kemmer hit an RBI single and Nolan Fontana added a sacrifice fly. Fisher hit another double in the 4th that allowed Fontana to score. Fontana led the way in the hit column on Monday, going 3-4 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Fisher (2 2B, RBI, R), Moran, and Tyler Heineman all finished with 2 hits in the game.

In game 2 of this series, César Valdez will face Sam Gaviglio. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

San Antonio 6, Corpus Christi 3

Both teams had three innings in which they scored a run, but the difference here was a 3-run 2nd inning from the Missions.

Drew Ferguson led off the bottom of the 1st with a home run. Bobby Boyd drew a one-out walk in the 4th, stole his way to 3rd, and scored on a sac fly from Mott Hyde. Boyd tripled to lead off the 7th inning and scored on a Nick Tanielu single. With the two stolen bases, Boyd now has 37 on the season.

Kent Emanuel went 5 innings and allowed 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. Kyle Smith was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen, and in 3 innings, he allowed an unearned run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. Jacob Dorris struck out the side in order in the 9th inning.

The Hooks will finish the regular season on the road. Cy Sneed will start the first of a 4-game series in Frisco against a rehabbing Colby Lewis. First pitch is at 7:05.

Lancaster was off

The JetHawks will begin a 3-game series with Rancho Cucamonga tonight at 6:35 Pacific.

Quad Cities 2, Wisconsin 1 in 10 innings

The Banditos walked off in the first extra frame to snap their 9-game losing streak.

Bobby Wernes led off the bottom of the 1st with a double and scored the first run of the game on a single from Dex McCall. The Rattlers scored a run in the top of the 2nd to tie the game, and that was where it stood until the 10th inning. McCall was involved in both of Quad Cities' scoring plays; he led off the 10th with a single and scored the winning run on a single from Hector Roa. Wernes finished 3-4 out of the leadoff spot, while McCall, Roa, and Arturo Michelena all had 2 hits in the game.

Matt Bower went 5.1 innings and allowed a run on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. Sebastian Kessay allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 over 2.2 scoreless, and Adam Whitt struck out 2 over 2 perfect innings.

The River Bandits have today off. Their final home series will be 3 games against Kane County starting tomorrow at 7:00. Framber Valdez will face Emilio Vargas.

Tri-City 3, Vermont 0

There was only one inning in which runs were scored, and the ValleyCats did all of it.

All three Tri-City runs came in the 3rd inning: Ronnie Dawson ripped a 2-run double, and he came around to score on a single from Taylor Jones. Carmen Benedetti finished 2-3.

Meanwhile on the mound... Carlos Sanabria, Dustin Hunt, and Abdiel Saldaña collaborated on the shutout effort. Sanabria allowed 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6 in his 4 innings. Hunt walked 2 and struck out 2 in 2 innings, and Saldaña allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4 over the final 3 innings.

Austin Nicely will start game 2 of this series. He'll face Logan Shore at 7:05 Eastern.

The Appy Astros salvaged a game from this series with a strong showing on the mound.

Ray Henderson opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 1st, and after the Twins tied the game in the 4th, Jonathan Matute re-established Greeneville's advantage with an RBI single in the 4th.

Lupe Chavez and Ricardo Castro started it off with 4 strong innings apiece. Chavez allowed Elizabethton's only run on a groundout in the 4th, a hit, walked 3, and struck out 6. Castro allowed a hit, walked 3, and struck out 4. Dariel Aquino walked 1 and struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th to get the save.

Greeneville will finish up its season with a 3-game series in Elizabethton. Cristian Javier will face Alex Schick at 7:00 Eastern.

The Grizzlies opened up a new series by dominating the Aces in all facets of the game. They led 4-0 after the 5th, but they turned this one into a laugher in the late innings.

Mike Hauschild and Reymin Guduan combined on a 2-hitter; Hauschild pitched 8 innings and allowed those 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9, and Guduan struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Everyone in the Fresno lineup recorded a hit and scored a run. Alex Bregman continues to be good at baseball, and Preston Tucker and Tyler White seem to have found themselves at the plate once again after a tough start to their seasons in Houston.

In game 2 of this series, Tommy Shirley will face Edwin Escobar. First pitch is at 7:05 Pacific.

Corpus Christi 4, Springfield 3

The Hooks broke a 2-2 tie with a couple of runs in the 9th inning that came off a couple of miscues from the Cardinals.

Prior to that 9th inning, Corpus Christi's only scoring play was a 2-run double from Garrett Stubbs in the 2nd.

Danry Vásquez doubled to lead off the 9th inning, and Chase McDonald joined him on the bases by drawing a walk. Stubbs grounded into a force out that erased McDonald, but an errant throw from Cardinals SS Juan Herrera allowed Danry to score the go-ahead run, and Stubbs advanced to 2nd base. Stubbs advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single from Alejandro Garcia. Danry finished 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored, while Stubbs went 2-4.

Francis Martes went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Scott Weathersby got the win in his Texas League debut, allowing a hit and striking out 3 over 2 scoreless innings. Ryan Thompson allowed an unearned run on 2 hits in the 9th, but he was able to secure the victory.

The Hooks will look for the sweep tonight as Evan Grills gets the start. He'll face Daniel Poncedeleon at 7:10.

Lancaster 9, Visalia 6

Lancaster home runs: Jamie Ritchie (5, 3-run in 2nd)

The JetHawks took the series as they built up an 8-1 lead and withstood a charge from the Rawhide.

Jamie Ritchie's 3-run home run in the 2nd inning put Lancaster on the board first. In the 3rd, Keach Ballard hit a 2-run single. Drew Ferguson hit a sac fly in the 5th, and the JetHawks scored 2 in the 6th on a pair of RBI singles from Bobby Boyd and Jason Martin. Ferguson drove in the final run of the evening with a bases-loaded walk in the 8th. Everyone in the JetHawks lineup had a hit; Martin led the way in that category by going 3-5. He also stole his 11th base of the season. Ritchie and Aaron Mizell had 2 hits apiece, and Ramon Laureano stole 2 bases, giving him 31 on the season.

Trent Thornton allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6 in 6.2 innings. Gonzalo Sañudo recorded the final out of the 7th and the first out of the 8th and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and walked 1. Ryan Deemes successfully extracted Sañudo from the jam without incurring any further damage, and he proceeded to throw 1.2 perfect innings, striking out 2.

Rogelio Armenteros will start the first of a 4-game series with Inland Empire tonight at 7:05 Pacific. He will go up against Jake Jewell.

Quad Cities 5, Beloit 4

The Snappers scored 2 in the top of the 8th to take a 4-3 lead, but the Banditos rallied with 2 runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to take the win and the series.

Quad Cities took the lead with a 3-run 4th inning: Kyle Tucker put them on the board with an RBI double, Arturo Michelena scored on a passed ball, and Anthony Hermelyn added a sacrifice fly.

Hector Roa singled to lead off the 8th, and Myles Straw came in to pinch-run for him. Kristian Trompiz followed with a single, but two consecutive outs following the hits put the River Bandits' rally in jeopardy. However, Arturo Michelena came through with a 2-run single that wound up becoming the game-winning hit. Michelena went 2-4 and was the only player in the Quad Cities lineup with more than one hit.

Matt Bower went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. Makay Nelson was the first man out of the Banditos bullpen; he went 2.2 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. Adam Whitt walked 1 over 1.1 scoreless and got the victory.

The River Bandits will begin a 4-game series with Clinton tonight at 7:00. In game 1, Franklin Perez will face Nick Neidert.

Tri-City was off

The ValleyCats will begin a 3-game series tonight against West Virginia at 7:05 Eastern. I originally thought that they were playing on Thursday; I sincerely regret the error.

Greeneville 7, Burlington 6

Greeneville home runs: Ray Henderson (2, solo in 6th)

The Royals got the jump once play resumed, but the Appy Astros stormed back and walked off with a victory.

Connor MacDonald put Greeneville on the board with an RBI groundout in the 2nd inning, and Ray Henderson led off the 6th with a home run. Business really began to pick up in the bottom of the 8th.

Miguelangel Sierra smacked a triple to lead off the inning and trotted home on a Jonathan Arauz single. Henderson, Frankeny Fernandez, and Bryan De La Cruz all followed by drawing walks. MacDonald hit a sac fly, and Fernandez scored the tying run on an error. Henderson won it in the 9th with a sac fly.

Abdiel Saldaña pitched 1+ inning on Wednesday and allowed 2 runs (1 inherited runner charged to him) on 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. Ricardo Castro took the mound once the game restarted, and he went 2.2 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, walking 2, and striking out 4. Angelo Serrano followed with 3 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 1, and striking out 4. Reggie Johnson allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in 1.1 innings, and Josue Uribe allowed a hit and struck out 1 in a scoreless 9th.

The Appy Astros settled for the split on Thursday as got smacked in the regularly scheduled game.

All 3 of their runs scored on home runs; Miguelangel Sierra homered to lead off the 1st, and Justin Garcia whacked a 2-run homer in the 7th.

Ben Smith, Salvador Montaño, and Lucas Williams all pitched 2 innings; Smith allowed 5 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. Montaño was the first man out of the Greeneville bullpen and allowed 2 unearned runs, an RBI single, walked 2, and struck out 1. Williams allowed 6 runs on 6 hits and struck out 1. Colin McKee struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 7th.

In the series finale, Carlos Sanabria will take on Travis Eckert. First pitch is at 7:00 Eastern.

Oscar Campos opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 2nd, and Wilson Amador added an RBI groundout in the 7th. Joan Mauricio (3B, R, SB [2]) and Reiny Beltre (2B) had 2 hits apiece in this game.

The Blue team walked off with a loss in a game that began a couple of weeks ago.

Orlando Marquez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 4th, and Ronny Jimenez hit an RBI single of his own in the 5th inning. César Cortez scored on a passed ball in the 6th inning. Cortez and Nicolás Miranda had 2 hits apiece.

Juan Corniel struck out 4 over 4 perfect innings. Robert Corniel went 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits (2-run homer) and struck out 4. Juan Cuevas faced 3 batters in the 9th and failed to retire any of them; the first two singled and the third laid down a sacrifice bunt.
