Fresno drew even in the series by storming out to a 7-1 lead after 2 innings.
Casey Coleman went 5 innings in his system debut, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits (3-run homer), walking 3, and striking out 4. Aaron West and Keegan Yuhl both pitched 2 innings: West allowed 3 hits, while Yuhl allowed an unearned run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3.
A.J. Reed put Fresno on the board first with a 3-run homer in the 1st. Max Stassi led off the 2nd with a double, advanced to 3rd on a single from Andrew Aplin, and scored on a Jack Mayfield single. Tony Kemp loaded the bases by legging out an infield single, and then Tyler White walked Aplin home. Preston Tucker followed by ripping a 2-run double. Stassi hit an RBI double in the 5th and scored on another Mayfield RBI single. Kemp, Stassi (2 2B, RBI, 2 R), and Mayfield (2 RBI, R) all finished with 2 hits on the night.
David Martinez will get the start in game 3 of the series. He'll take on Dan Slania at 7:05 Pacific.
Midland 12, Corpus Christi 3

Not a day to remember for the Hooks pitchers as they got shelled to the tune of five home runs.
Jon Singleton's 3-run blast in the 3rd was Corpus Christi's only scoring play. Drew Ferguson, who scored one of the runs, stole his 7th base of the season. Jamie Ritchie went 2-4.
Brock Dykxhoorn only lasted 2.2 innings and allowed 7 runs on 6 hits (2 2-run homers), walked 4, and struck out 4. Michael Freeman tagged in for 2.1 innings; the three runs he allowed all came on a homer hit by Tyler Marincov in the 6th inning. Freeman also allowed 3 other hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Jacob Dorris pitched the final 3 innings, and Marincov tagged him for a couple of solo shots. He allowed two other hits, walked 2, and fanned 2.
Cy Sneed faces Heath Fillmyer in game 3 of this series. First pitch is at 7:00.
Carolina 3, Buies Creek 0

The Mudcats shut out Buies Creek to foil their bid to sweep the series.
The Astros only mustered up three hits, two of which were doubles from Myles Straw and Christian Correa. Kyle Tucker stole two bases, giving him 9 on the year.
Yoanys Quiala and Framber Valdez turned in good outings, but they didn't get any run support. Quiala went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. Framber pitched the final 3 innings and only allowed one hit, a solo homer hit by Jake Gatewood. He also issued a couple of walks and struck out 4.
Hector Perez will make his first Carolina League start in Buies Creek's first game in Myrtle Beach. He'll go up against Thomas Hatch at 7:05 Eastern.
Fort Wayne 4, Quad Cities 0
W- Logan Allen (1-1)
L- Carson LaRue (2-1)
QC home runs: None.
After scoring 9 to take the opener, the Banditos were held off the scoreboard on Wednesday.
Alex De Goti had two of Quad Cities' four hits in this one. Ronnie Dawson and Chuckie Robinson had the other two.
Carson LaRue struck out a career-high 8 in 5 innings, but he also allowed 4 runs on 5 hits (2-run homer). Dustin Hunt was the first man out; he pitched 3 scoreless, allowing a hit, walking 2, and striking out 3. Edgardo Sandoval worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 2.
Quad Cities and Fort Wayne will wrap up their series at 6:35 as Brett Adcock faces Jerry Keel.
