The E-Train scored three runs in the 9th to snatch this game from the Missions' grasp.

José Urquidy threw six shutout innings, allowing five hits, walking two, and striking out nine. Urquidy became the first pitcher in the system to strike out 100 batters this season. Ralph Garza Jr., Reymin Guduan, and Felipe Paulino all pitched an inning. Garza got the 7th and he allowed three hits, one of which was a two-run homer, and struck out two. Guduan walked one and struck out the side in the 8th, and Paulino allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save.

Jack Mayfield opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 6th inning. Nick Tanielu smacked a one-out double in the 9th, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored the tying run on Josh Rojas' double. Rojas advanced to third on a wild pitch and after A.J. Reed was intentionally walked, he scored the go-ahead run when Jamie Ritchie hit into a fielder's choice. Chas McCormick hit an RBI single for insurance.

The Express and Missions will play game three of this series at 7:05.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will start a four-game series in Amarillo tonight at 7:05.

Salem 4, Fayetteville 2

The Red Sox took this game on the strength of a three-run 7th inning.

Scott Schreiber hit an RBI single in the 6th and Chandler Taylor ripped an RBI double in the 9th. Schreiber and J.J. Matijevic had two hits apiece in this game.

Luis Garcia allowed an unearned run on a sac fly, a single, walked one, and struck out eight in five innings of work. Chad Donato got the last three innings and he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, walked one, and struck out five.

Fayetteville heads home to start a four-game series with Myrtle Beach at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 7, Burlington 5

W- José Alberto Rivera (3-3)
L- Tyler Smith (5-2)

QC home runs: Jeremy Peña (5, solo in 3rd)

The Banditos took this game by withstanding a five-run 4th from the Bees and getting some Houdini-esque escapes from José Alberto Rivera on the mound.

José Bravo allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out seven in four innings of work. Rivera got the last five innings and allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out six. He got out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the 6th unscathed and then stranded two runners in scoring position in the 7th. A caught stealing got Rivera out of the 8th and he managed to strand two runners to end the game.

Jeremy Peña opened the scoring by whacking a solo homer in the 3rd and Oscar Campos drove in another run by ripping an RBI double. Quad Cities scored three times in the 5th on a wild pitch that allowed Michael Wielansky to score, an Austin Dennis sac fly, and an RBI single from Campos. Peña scored on an error in the 7th and Alex McKenna drove in a run with a groundout in the 8th. Campos went 3-4 on the evening. Peña (solo HR, 3 R, SB) and Ross Adolph (2B, 2 R) both finished 2-4 on the night.

Felipe Tejada takes on Robinson Pina as this series shifts to the Quad Cities for the final two games. First pitch is at 6:35.

Game 1: Lowell 2, Tri-City 1 (8 innings)

TC home runs: Preston Pavlica (1, solo in 7th)

The ValleyCats tied up game one with a run in the 7th... only to see the Spinners walk off with the victory after scoring in the first extra frame.

Preston Pavlica launched a solo homer in the 7th, his first pro home run, which ended up being the ValleyCats' only scoring play in this game. E.P. Reese and Nathan Perry had two hits apiece.

Jayson Schroeder went four innings and allowed a run on six hits, walked two, and struck out three. Miguel Figueroa was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen in game one and he was excellent as he walked one and struck out three over three scoreless. Hansel Paulino allowed the game-winning hit, a single, to lead off the 8th.

Game 2: Lowell 7, Tri-City 0

W- Hildemaro Requena (2-0)
L- Christian Mejias (0-1)
S- Brendan Nail (2)

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats were swept in the doubleheader as they were shut out in game two.

All they got on offense in game two was a Juan Paulino single. Paulino also stole a base, his fourth of the season.

Christian Mejías went 3.2 innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out a career-high ten batters. Michael Horrell got Mejías out of a predicament to end the 4th and he went on to pitch 1.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on two hits, walking one, and striking out two. Shea Barry got the final two outs in the 6th inning and he allowed three unearned runs, a bases-clearing triple, and walked two. I think he'd like a do-over for his professional debut.

Angel Macuare gets the start in the series finale and he'll face Yusniel Padrón-Artilles at 7:05 Eastern.

GCL Mets 11, GCL Astros 6

GCL home runs: Colin Barber (1, solo in 5th), Nerio Rodriguez (1, solo in 8th)

The Palm Beach 'Stros scored three in the top of the 8th to tie this game at 6... and then the Mets regained control by scoring five in the bottom of the 8th.

Brayan de Paula pitched four innings and allowed two runs on two hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out four. Diosmerky Taveras was next and he allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits, walked two, and struck out two. Whit Drennan and Jherson Pereira both pitched an inning. Well, Drennan came on for the 8th but he failed to record an out in that inning. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out one. Jherson Pereira took ownership of the 8th and allowed four runs (one earned) a hit, walked two, and struck out one.

Nerio Rodriguez singled in the 1st and an error on the play allowed Colin Barber to score. Barber launched his first career home run in the 5th and Nerio followed with an RBI single. Nerio smacked a homer to lead off the 8th and then the GCL squad got two more runs in the inning as Yeuris Ramirez scored on an error following a Yefri Carrillo single. Carrillo came home on a double from José Álvarez. Nerio finished 4-5 on the afternoon and Barber went 2-3.

The Astros will take on the Cardinals at noon Eastern.

DSL Braves 4, DSL Astros 3

DSL home runs: None.

The Dominican 'Stros rally fell just short.

Yohander Martinez scored the DSL squad's first run of the day by stealing home in the 6th. Ricardo Toro hit an RBI single in the 8th and he came around to score on a double from Andrés Monzón.

Fabricio Reina pitched two innings and allowed two runs on a double play and a wild pitch, a single, walked one, and struck out one. Edinson Batista and Daniel Pacheco pitched three innings apiece. Batista walked two and struck out six while Pacheco allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

The Astros will host the Red Sox 1 at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

Round Rock 11, Las Vegas 5

RR home runs: Nick Tanielu 2 (6; solo in 7th, solo in 9th)

After getting whipped on Tuesday, the E-Train returned the favor and got even in this Sin City series.

Akeem Bostick turned in a bare minimum quality start (6 IP, 3 ER), allowing six hits (three solo homers), walking two, and striking out three. Ryan Hartman got the last three innings and he allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out six.

Yordan Alvarez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st inning. Josh Rojas and Drew Ferguson added a sac fly and an RBI double in the 2nd inning, respectively, and Round Rock got three more runs in the 3rd as A.J. Reed ripped an RBI double and came around to score on a base hit from Aníbal Sierra. Nick Tanielu scored another run on an error after Rojas stole second.

Rojas ripped an RBI double in the 5th. Taylor Jones hit an RBI single in the 6th and Reed added a sac fly to his ledger later in the inning. Tanielu capped off Round Rock's scoring with a solo blast in the 7th and another solo shot in the 9th. He ended up scoring four times in this game. Jones led the way in the hit department by going 3-4. Ferguson, Sierra, and Tanielu all had two hits on the night.

The series concludes at 7:05 Pacific. Whoever gets the start for Round Rock will take on former Astro Jake Buchanan.

Midland 9, Corpus Christi 6 (10 innings)

CC home runs: Carlos Canelón (1, 2-run in 2nd)

The RockHounds exploded for five runs in the first extra frame to take control of this one.

Corpus entered the bottom of the 4th down 4-0 but they fought back to tie the game. Seth Beer put them on the board with an RBI single and Granden Goetzman followed with a sac fly. Two batters later, Carlos Canelón smacked a two-run homer, which turned out to be the Hooks' only extra-base hit of the game. Canelón drove in another run when he hit into a force out in the 10th and scored on Osvaldo Duarte's single. Chas McCormick went 2-5 with a run scored and a couple of stolen bases (9).

Carson LaRue went 5.2 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, walked one, and struck out six. Hunter Martin was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and he threw 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out one. Jonathan Bermúdez pitched 1.2 innings and allowed two runs (one earned; both runs were inherited runners that were charged to him), a hit, walked one, and struck out five. Tommy DeJuneas would probably like a mulligan on his Texas League debut.

The Hooks will begin a four-game series with Amarillo at 6:15.

Fayetteville was off

The Woodpeckers will begin a four-game series in Wilmington, Delaware, tonight at 6:35 Eastern.

Peoria 6, Quad Cities 2

A quick start from the Chiefs doomed the Banditos on Wednesday.

José Alberto Rivera went 3.2 innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits (solo homer), walked one, and struck out six. Matt Ruppenthal tagged in for 3.1 innings, allowing a run on seven hits, walking one, and striking out two. Riley Cabral allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out two over the final two innings.

Ross Adolph went 2-3 with a sac fly in the 6th inning and scored on Orlando Marquez's groundout in the 9th.

Cody Deason will start the series finale and he'll face Kyle Leahy at 6:35.

DSL Rays1 13, DSL Astros 5

DSL home runs: Jesús Liranzo (1, 2-run in 4th)

The Academy was done in by a seven-run 5th inning from the Rays.

Jesús Liranzo launched a two-run homer, the first of his career, in the 4th inning. Cristian Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch in the 5th and Ricardo Balogh came on as a pinch-hitter in the 8th and hit a two-run single. Gonzalez, Liranzo, and Ayendy Ortiz all finished 2-4 on the day.

Misael Tamarez allowed four runs on four hits, walked two, and struck out two in three innings of work. Johnagel Ramirez was the first man out of the DSL bullpen and he allowed six runs (four earned) on four hits, walked two, and struck out one in 1.1 innings. José Betances was next and he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked two, and struck out two in 1.2 innings. Edinson Batista pitched the final three innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

The DSL Astros are currently taking on the A's.
