Quiet night.

Omaha 9, Round Rock 2

The Storm Chasers rumbled to a 5-0 lead after 3.5 innings and the E-Train were never really in this one.

Taylor Jones ripped an RBI double in the 4th and Jack Mayfield launched a solo homer in the 6th. Josh Rojas went 2-4 with a stolen base (29) and a run scored; Alex De Goti also had two hits on the evening.

Framber Valdez pitched 3.2 innings and allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits, walked five, and struck out six. Akeem Bostick was the first man out of the bullpen and he allowed three runs on five hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out four. Kit Scheetz got the last two innings and he allowed two hits, one of which was a solo homer, and struck out four.

Kent Emanuel takes on Eric Skoglund at 7:05.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks are in Springdale, Arkansas, where they'll begin a series with Northwest Arkansas at 7:05.

Fayetteville and Lynchburg was postponed

Due to rain. A doubleheader is scheduled for tonight with game one starting at 6:00 Eastern. Jojanse Torres will get the start in game one and Forrest Whitley is scheduled to start the second game.

Quad Cities was off

The River Bandits will kick off a three-game set with Peoria tonight at 6:35.

Tri-City 4, Brooklyn 1 (5 innings)

This game was called due to rain with one out in the 6th.

Ronel Blanco began his rehab and he allowed an RBI single, walked one, and struck out two in the 1st. Christian Mejías allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out three in four innings of work.

Juan Paulino opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st. Juan Ramirez led off the 5th with a double and scored on an error following a single from Yeuris Ramirez. Yeuris moved up to second and scored on a base hit from E.P. Reese. Reese stole second and scored on Luis Guerrero's single. Juan Ramirez finished 2-2. Reese (5) and Guerrero (2) both stole a base.

The ValleyCats and Cyclones will continue this series at 7:00 Eastern.

DSL Royals1 7, DSL Astros 1

DSL home runs: None.

Not a good last couple of days for the Dominican 'Stros as they were outscored 18-2 by the Royals. They had nine hits in this one but only got one run for their troubles.

Omar Díaz hit an RBI single in the 6th. Ricardo Toro went 3-3. Jairo José, who is normally an outfielder, struck out one in a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Hopefully they'll have better luck when they take on the Rays 1 at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

The E-Train scored three runs in the 9th to snatch this game from the Missions' grasp.

José Urquidy threw six shutout innings, allowing five hits, walking two, and striking out nine. Urquidy became the first pitcher in the system to strike out 100 batters this season. Ralph Garza Jr., Reymin Guduan, and Felipe Paulino all pitched an inning. Garza got the 7th and he allowed three hits, one of which was a two-run homer, and struck out two. Guduan walked one and struck out the side in the 8th, and Paulino allowed a hit and struck out the side in the 9th to earn the save.

Jack Mayfield opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 6th inning. Nick Tanielu smacked a one-out double in the 9th, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored the tying run on Josh Rojas' double. Rojas advanced to third on a wild pitch and after A.J. Reed was intentionally walked, he scored the go-ahead run when Jamie Ritchie hit into a fielder's choice. Chas McCormick hit an RBI single for insurance.

The Express and Missions will play game three of this series at 7:05.

Corpus Christi was off

The Hooks will start a four-game series in Amarillo tonight at 7:05.

The Red Sox took this game on the strength of a three-run 7th inning.

Scott Schreiber hit an RBI single in the 6th and Chandler Taylor ripped an RBI double in the 9th. Schreiber and J.J. Matijevic had two hits apiece in this game.

Luis Garcia allowed an unearned run on a sac fly, a single, walked one, and struck out eight in five innings of work. Chad Donato got the last three innings and he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, walked one, and struck out five.

Fayetteville heads home to start a four-game series with Myrtle Beach at 7:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 7, Burlington 5

QC home runs: Jeremy Peña (5, solo in 3rd)

The Banditos took this game by withstanding a five-run 4th from the Bees and getting some Houdini-esque escapes from José Alberto Rivera on the mound.

José Bravo allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out seven in four innings of work. Rivera got the last five innings and allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out six. He got out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the 6th unscathed and then stranded two runners in scoring position in the 7th. A caught stealing got Rivera out of the 8th and he managed to strand two runners to end the game.

Jeremy Peña opened the scoring by whacking a solo homer in the 3rd and Oscar Campos drove in another run by ripping an RBI double. Quad Cities scored three times in the 5th on a wild pitch that allowed Michael Wielansky to score, an Austin Dennis sac fly, and an RBI single from Campos. Peña scored on an error in the 7th and Alex McKenna drove in a run with a groundout in the 8th. Campos went 3-4 on the evening. Peña (solo HR, 3 R, SB) and Ross Adolph (2B, 2 R) both finished 2-4 on the night.

Felipe Tejada takes on Robinson Pina as this series shifts to the Quad Cities for the final two games. First pitch is at 6:35.

Game 1: Lowell 2, Tri-City 1 (8 innings)

TC home runs: Preston Pavlica (1, solo in 7th)

The ValleyCats tied up game one with a run in the 7th... only to see the Spinners walk off with the victory after scoring in the first extra frame.

Preston Pavlica launched a solo homer in the 7th, his first pro home run, which ended up being the ValleyCats' only scoring play in this game. E.P. Reese and Nathan Perry had two hits apiece.

Jayson Schroeder went four innings and allowed a run on six hits, walked two, and struck out three. Miguel Figueroa was the first man out of the Tri-City bullpen in game one and he was excellent as he walked one and struck out three over three scoreless. Hansel Paulino allowed the game-winning hit, a single, to lead off the 8th.

Game 2: Lowell 7, Tri-City 0

TC home runs: None.

The ValleyCats were swept in the doubleheader as they were shut out in game two.

All they got on offense in game two was a Juan Paulino single. Paulino also stole a base, his fourth of the season.

Christian Mejías went 3.2 innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked two, and struck out a career-high ten batters. Michael Horrell got Mejías out of a predicament to end the 4th and he went on to pitch 1.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned, two inherited runners charged to him) on two hits, walking one, and striking out two. Shea Barry got the final two outs in the 6th inning and he allowed three unearned runs, a bases-clearing triple, and walked two. I think he'd like a do-over for his professional debut.

Angel Macuare gets the start in the series finale and he'll face Yusniel Padrón-Artilles at 7:05 Eastern.

GCL Mets 11, GCL Astros 6

GCL home runs: Colin Barber (1, solo in 5th), Nerio Rodriguez (1, solo in 8th)

The Palm Beach 'Stros scored three in the top of the 8th to tie this game at 6... and then the Mets regained control by scoring five in the bottom of the 8th.

Brayan de Paula pitched four innings and allowed two runs on two hits (solo homer), walked two, and struck out four. Diosmerky Taveras was next and he allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits, walked two, and struck out two. Whit Drennan and Jherson Pereira both pitched an inning. Well, Drennan came on for the 8th but he failed to record an out in that inning. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out one. Jherson Pereira took ownership of the 8th and allowed four runs (one earned) a hit, walked two, and struck out one.

Nerio Rodriguez singled in the 1st and an error on the play allowed Colin Barber to score. Barber launched his first career home run in the 5th and Nerio followed with an RBI single. Nerio smacked a homer to lead off the 8th and then the GCL squad got two more runs in the inning as Yeuris Ramirez scored on an error following a Yefri Carrillo single. Carrillo came home on a double from José Álvarez. Nerio finished 4-5 on the afternoon and Barber went 2-3.

The Astros will take on the Cardinals at noon Eastern.

The Dominican 'Stros rally fell just short.

Yohander Martinez scored the DSL squad's first run of the day by stealing home in the 6th. Ricardo Toro hit an RBI single in the 8th and he came around to score on a double from Andrés Monzón.

Fabricio Reina pitched two innings and allowed two runs on a double play and a wild pitch, a single, walked one, and struck out one. Edinson Batista and Daniel Pacheco pitched three innings apiece. Batista walked two and struck out six while Pacheco allowed two runs on three hits, walked one, and struck out three.

The Astros will host the Red Sox 1 at 11:30 AM Atlantic.

Fresno home runs: Tyler White (12, solo in 1st), A.J. Reed (13, solo in 6th)

The Dodgers got two in the 7th to take the lead and one more in the 9th for insurance as they evened up the series

The two solo home runs you see above represented all the scoring that Fresno did on Saturday. A.J. Reed finished 3-4, while Tyler White and J.D. Davis both went 2-4.

Trent Thornton went seven innings, allowing three runs on eight hits (two-run homer), walking one, and striking out five. Buddy Boshers pitched the last two innings and allowed a run on two hits, walked one, and struck out one.

Rogelio Armenteros will face Guillermo Moscoso in game three of this series. First pitch is at 5:05 Pacific.

San Antonio 9, Corpus Christi 4

The Hooks fell behind 7-0 after the 4th. They attempted to rally back but the Missions salted this one away with a couple of insurance runs in the top of the 9th.

Randy César hit a one-out double in the 6th to extend his hitting streak to 31 games. He advanced to third on a Ryne Birk single and scored Corpus Christi's first run when Birk was forced out at second. Stephen Wrenn, who hit into that force out, stole second and scored on a Jamie Ritchie single. Ritchie came home on a single from Alex De Goti. Wrenn led off the 8th with a double and Ritchie took his place at second after smacking a double of his own. Ritchie went 3-4 on the night. Josh Rojas finished 2-5.

Yoanys Quiala went three innings and allowed five runs on five hits (solo and two-run homers), walked three, and struck out three. Erasmo Pinales was the first man out of the Hooks bullpen and he allowed two runs on two hits, walked two, and struck out five in his two innings. Chris Nunn was the only Corpus pitcher to turn in a scoreless outing as he allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out three in three innings. Kit Scheetz allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out one in the 9th.

Jorge Alcala will make his first Texas League start in game two of this series. He'll take on former Astros draft pick Jacob Nix at 6:05.

Buies Creek 6, Down East 1

W- Brandon Bielak (5-3)

BC home runs: Jake Adams 2 (2, 10 season; 2-run in 5th, 2-run in 8th)

Jake Adams opened up his account in the Carolina League and spurred the Carolina Stros to a series win in the latest iteration of the Lone Star Series in North Carolina.

Both of Adams' hits in this game left the yard and both of them resulted in two runs. He opened the scoring in the 5th with his first two-run blast. Ronnie Dawson ripped an RBI double in the 6th and scored on a Troy Sieber single. Adams launched his second two-run homer of the evening in the 8th inning to bring in the last two Buies Creek runs. He and Luis Payano both finished 2-4; Dawson scored three times.

Brandon Bielak allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out five over five shutout innings. The Wood Ducks spoiled the shutout with a homer off Adam Bleday in the bottom of the 8th, which was the only hit that he allowed in his 2.1 innings of work. Bleday also walked one and struck out four. Robert Corniel struck out one over 1.2 perfect innings to secure the win.

The Carolina Stros will look for the sweep at 4:00 Eastern.

Quad Cities 7, Peoria 5

QC home runs: Bryan de la Cruz (2, 2-run in 5th), Cody Bohanek (3, 2-run in 8th)

The Banditos were on their way to a shutout win... until the Chiefs woke up and made the result of this game a little less certain. Fortunately, Quad Cities found a way to put out the fire and secured the win.

Patrick Sandoval allowed just three hits and struck out seven over five shutout innings. César Rosado cruised through two innings but the wheels fell off for him in the 8th inning. In 2.1 innings, Rosado allowed five runs (one inherited runner charged to him) on five hits, walked two, and struck out three. Willy Collado did allow one of the two runners he inherited from Rosado to score on a sac fly, but he prevented Peoria from inflicting any further damage. He went 1.2 innings, walking one and striking out two.

Bryan de la Cruz led off the 4th with a single and he scored the first run of the evening on an Adrian Tovalin double. Tovalin eventually scored on a single from Cody Bohanek. De La Cruz whacked a two-run homer in the 5th. Jonathan Lacroix singled with one out in the 8th, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on a single from Mike Papierski, which prompted Peoria to make a pitching change. Bryan Dobzanski came on for the Chiefs and Bohanek greeted him with a two-run home run.

Everyone in the Quad Cities lineup recorded a hit; de la Cruz had three, while Bohanek finished with two.

Peter Solomon will take on Evan Guillory in game three of this series. First pitch is at 2:00.

DSL Braves 3, DSL Astros 1

W- Lisandro Santos (1-0)
L- Diosmerky Taveras (1-1)

DSL home runs: None.

There's something about the 2nd inning for the Academy. I think this is like the third time in the last five or six days that they've lost because the other team had a big 2nd inning.

Diosmerky Taveras, Christian Mejias, and Jairo Lopez all pitched three innings. Taveras got the start and allowed three runs on three hits, walked three, and struck out two. Mejias walked one and struck out four, while Lopez allowed a hit and struck out five.

Junior Marte ripped an RBI double in the 4th to bring in the DSL team's only run. Jose Alvarez finished 3-3 on the day.

The Academy has Sunday off.

The Grizzlies walked off with the win to snap their 5-game slide and avoid a sweep.

Drew Ferguson opened the scoring with an RBI double in the 2nd inning. This was the game's only scoring play until the 8th, when Vegas scored twice in the top half to take the lead. Fresno responded in the bottom half with a Preston Tucker RBI single to tie the game. Garrett Stubbs hit a one-out single in the 9th, advanced to 3rd on a Rico Noel double, and scored the winning run when Tony Kemp dunked a ball in for a single.

Rogelio Armenteros allowed a hit, walked 2, and struck out 9 over 7 shutout innings. He had a no-hitter going through 6.2 innings. Dean Deetz got 2 outs in the 8th but allowed 2 runs on 3 hits (solo homer) and struck out 1. Reymin Guduan got the last out of the inning without incident. Jumbo Diaz worked around a single and a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Trent Thornton will start the first game of a 4-game series in Reno at 7:05 Pacific. He'll go up against Taylor Clarke.

Corpus Christi 7, Springfield 4

CC home runs: Ryne Birk (3, 11 season; grand slam in 6th)

Corpus only scored in one inning, but they made sure to score a lot.

Franklin Perez turned in 6 solid innings, allowing 2 runs on a 2-run homer, one other hit, walking 2, and striking out 4. Brock Dykxhoorn threw a scoreless 7th but ran into trouble in the 8th, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 1. Riley Ferrell took ownership of the 8th and ended up earning a 2-inning save. He allowed a hit and struck out 4.

All 7 Hooks runs came in the 6th. Carlos Canelón and Arturo Michelena led off with singles and Jason Martin tied the game with a 2-run double. Tony Nuñez and Kyle Tucker were both retired, but Dex McCall kept the inning going with a single. Jon Singleton got a free pass to load the bases for Spencer Johnson, whose RBI single put Corpus Christi in the lead and prompted a Springfield pitching change. Ryne Birk greeted the new pitcher, Andrew Morales, with a grand slam. Martin (2 2B, 2 RBI, R), Singleton (2 BB, R), and Canelón (R) all finished with 2 hits on the evening.

Down East 5, Buies Creek 3

BC home runs: Yordan Alvarez (3, 12 season; solo in 3rd)

The Carolina Stros got edged towards the end when the Wood Ducks hit back-to-back solo homers in the 8th to break a 3-3 tie.

Jake Rogers ripped an RBI double in the 1st to open the scoring. Yordan Alvarez smacked a solo homer in the 3rd and drove in another run on a bloop single in the 7th inning. Alvarez finished with 2 hits for the 3rd straight game, while Stephen Wrenn finished 4-5.

Ryan Hartman allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (2-run homer), walked 1, and struck out 4 in 4.2 innings. Justin Ferrell went 3.1 innings and allowed the two solo shots in the 8th, one other hit, walked 1, and struck out 4.

Quad Cities 10, Wisconsin 3

QC home runs: Chuckie Robinson (13, 2-run in 1st)

The Banditos broke a 3-3 tie by scoring twice in the 6th and ran away with this game with a 5-run 7th.

Patrick Sandoval shook off a rocky 3rd inning in which he allowed 3 runs (2 earned) to go 6 innings. He also allowed 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. Robert Corniel allowed 2 hits and fanned 4 over 2 scoreless, and Salvador Montaño worked around a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 2.

Chuckie Robinson launched a 2-run homer in the 1st to open the scoring and Josh Rojas added an RBI single later in the inning. Troy Sieber led off the 6th with a single and Daz Cameron joined him on the bases with a double. Luis Payano put Quad Cities back in front with an RBI single and Rojas added a sac fly to his ledger.

Marcos Almonte ripped a double to begin the 7th inning. Robinson drew a one-out walk and they both advanced a base on a Sieber groundout. Daz hit a 2-run single and it was on. He proceeded to steal 2nd (28) and scored on a Ronnie Dawson single. After a Payano double, Rojas capped it off with a 2-run triple.

Daz finished 3-5 on the evening. Almonte (2 2B, R), Payano (2B, RBI, R, SB), and Rojas (3B, 4 RBI) all finished with 2 hits. Robinson, Sieber, and Daz also scored 2 runs apiece.

Nathan Thompson makes his first Midwest League start tonight. He'll face Braden Webb at 6:35.

Tri-City and Hudson Valley was postponed

Due to rain. The ValleyCats have a series in Hudson Valley from August 28-30 so I presume that this game will be made up during that series.

Tri-City will kick off a 3-game series with Brooklyn tonight at 7:00 Eastern. Leovanny Rodriguez faces Luis De Los Santos.

Pulaski 4, Greeneville 3

L- Tim Hardy (1-3)

The Appy Astros were stunned at the end when the Yankees scored twice in the bottom of the 9th to walk off with the win.

Yhoan Acosta allowed a run on a single, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 1.2 innings. Jairo Solis was the first man out of the Greeneville bullpen and went 4.1 innings, allowing a run on 4 hits, walking 3, and striking out 5. Tim Hardy pitched 2+ innings and allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3.

Nivaldo Rodriguez shut it down over the last 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 3, and striking out 6.

Hector Martinez and Vicente Sanchez both finished with 2 hits, an RBI, and scored a run. César Cortez went 2-4 and scored a run. Ozziel Sanchez-Galan won it with a single in the bottom of the 9th.

Nick Hernandez was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and the one hit he allowed was a 2-run homer to Jose Adolis Garcia, which was also Garcia's 2nd homer of the evening. Hernandez walked 2 and struck out 5 during his time on the mound. Ryan Thompson allowed a couple of unearned runs, a couple of hits, and struck out 1 in the 9th.

Brett Adcock allowed 5 runs on 5 hits (4 singles and a double), walked 1, and struck out 3 in 5.1 innings. Sebastian Kessay went 2.2 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4, and Erasmo Pinales retired the side in order in the 9th inning, striking out 1.

Carmen Benedetti opened the scoring with his first Carolina League home run to start the 3rd inning. Stephen Wrenn singled to lead off the 4th and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Buies Creek's 2 runs in the 8th came on RBI singles from Yordan Alvarez and Taylor Jones. Wrenn and Alvarez both finished 2-4 on the night.

Ryan Hartman goes up against Emerson Martinez in game 2 of this series, which begins at 6:00 Eastern.

Dustin Hunt was the first man out of the bullpen and allowed a run that was an inherited runner charged to him, a base hit, walked 4, and struck out 6. Lucas Williams allowed a hit and fanned 2 in 2.1 innings.

Patrick Sandoval will start game 3. He'll take on Anthony Marzi at 6:35.

The Appy Astros got a big series win thanks to Roman Garcia's bat and the combined efforts of Chad Donato and Humberto Castellanos on the mound.

Garcia was essentially the Greeneville offense on Friday as he finished 3-4 with 2 homers. He accounted for three of the five Greeneville hits and two of their three runs

Donato was a winner in his Appalachian League debut, allowing 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 7 over 5 shutout innings. Humberto Castellanos allowed the only Elizabethton run on a homer, 4 other hits, and struck out 3 in the final 4 innings.

Greeneville will now open a 4-game series against Kingsport with a doubleheader; they're making up a game that was originally scheduled for July 3. The twinbill starts at 4:00 Eastern.

Enmanuel Valdez had a hand in all 3 runs on Friday; he hit a 2-out triple in the 3rd and scored the first run of the day on a passed ball. Valdez added a sac fly in the 5th and got plunked with the bases loaded in the 7th inning. Nathan Perry finished 2-4.

Tanner Duncan and Diosward Gonzalez started off with 3 innings apiece. Duncan struck out 4 in a perfect outing, while Gonzalez allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. Carlos Pimentel allowed a run on 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in the 7th. Chauncey Nuñez got an out in the 8th but ran into instant trouble, as he walked the first two men he faced and uncorked a wild pitch which allowed one of them to score. He also allowed a double, which prompted Devin Raftery's entrance. Raftery got out of the inning with 2 strikeouts and then worked around a double in the 9th to close out the game. Raftery also recorded a strikeout in the 9th.

Tyson Perez allowed a hit and walked 1 over 1.2 scoreless innings. Jordan Jankowski worked around a double to throw a scoreless 4th inning. Reymin Guduan went 2.2 innings, allowing an unearned run on 2 hits and striking out 3. Kevin Comer allowed a run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings, and Ashur Tolliver allowed 2 runs on 3 hits (solo homer) and struck out 1 in the 9th.

Tony Kemp tripled to lead off the 1st and scored on a Jon Kemmer single. D.J. Fisher followed by clubbing a 2-run homer. Akeem Bostick went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (solo homer) and struck out 5. Alex Winkelman was the first man out of the Corpus bullpen and allowed 6 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 2 in 3 innings. Riley Ferrell struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Ryan Hartman and Hector Perez joined forces to keep Myrtle Beach off the board. Hartman allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1 in his 5 innings, while Perez finished it off by allowing 3 hits, walking 3, and fanning 5 over the final 4 frames.

Spencer Johnson opened the scoring with a solo shot in the 2nd inning. Alex De Goti hit an RBI single in the 4th and scored the final run of the night on a Ryne Birk sac fly. Jake Rogers went 2-5, while Myles Straw stole his 24th base of the season.

The Banditos romped their way to a sweep of the Cougars.

Quad Cities put up crooked numbers in all of their scoring innings, leading 5-1 after the 2nd and then busting the game open with 6 in 4th.

Marcos Almonte scored Quad Cities' first run on an errant pickoff throw in the 1st inning. Daz Cameron ripped an RBI triple and scored on a Wander Franco single. Carmen Benedetti hit an RBI single in the 2nd and Daz added a sac fly to his ledger.

Ray Henderson doubled to lead off the 4th and then Tyler Wolfe and Marcos Almonte joined him on the bases after drawing walks. Benedetti brought them all home with a double. Josh Rojas walked, and Wander Franco launched a 3-run homer. Wolfe ripped a 2-run double in 6th to bring in the final Quad Cities runs.

Ronel Blanco went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Lucas Williams struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 6th, and Carson LaRue allowed one hit, a solo homer to Adam Walton in the 9th. He struck out 5 in his 3 innings.

Tri-City 13, Brooklyn 0

The ValleyCats dominated the Cyclones in all facets of the game on Thursday.

Everyone in the lineup had a hit. Reid Russell turned in his first career multi-homer game as a pro, while J.J. Matijevic hit his first pro homer. 

Patrick Sandoval and Colin McKee combined to hold Brooklyn to just 3 hits. Sandoval allowed 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8, while McKee walked 2 and fanned 5 over the final 4 innings.

Greeneville 6, Johnson City 5 in 11 innings

W- Willy Collado (1-0)
L- Robert Calvano (0-3)

Greeneville home runs: None.

The Appy Astros earned the sweep by scoring 4 in the bottom of the 9th to force extras and walking off with the win in the 11th.

Chas McCormick went 3-3 and opened the scoring with an RBI single in the 2nd inning.

Brody Westmoreland and Colton Shaver walked with one out in the bottom of the 9th and they both advanced a base on a wild pitch. Roman Garcia came through with a 2-run double and scored on a single from Adrian Tovalin, who came on as a pinch-hitter. Martin Figueroa, who walked after Garcia's double, scored the tying run on an error.

Cody Bohanek pinch-ran for Tovalin after his single and stayed in the game at shortstop and won the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th. Shaver, who walked to lead off the inning, scored the winning run.

McCormick also stole 2 bases, giving him 3 on the year. Figueroa (2B, 2 R) and Joan Mauricio both finished 2-4.

The one run that Hansel Paulino allowed in his 6 innings came on a solo homer from Carlos Rodriguez in the 4th. Paulino allowed one other hit, walked 1, and fanned 7. Cole Watts pitched 1.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, walking 1, and striking out 3. Willy Collado allowed a hit and struck out 5 in 3.1 scoreless.

GCL Cardinals 11, GCL Astros 10 in 10 innings

The Palm Beach Stros scored 3 in the top of the 9th to take the lead, only to see the Cardinals tie the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th. They re-took the lead with a run in the 10th, but the Cardinals ended up walking off with the win.

Hector Martinez (2 R) and Bernardo Heras (2 2B, R) both finished with 3 hits on the day. Jose Benjamin tripled and drove in 3; he was one of four GCLstros who finished with 2 hits. Richard Slenker (2B, solo HR) and Jonathan Matute went 2-2, while Nathan Perry finished 2-4.

Juan Corniel went 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. Luis Ramirez allowed 4 runs on 4 hits and walked 1 in the 5th. Renny Ugarte allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4 in 4 innings. Flaer Gonzalez and Manny Ramirez (yes, that is really his name) both made their pro debuts and they both pitched 2 scoreless innings. Gonzalez allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 3, while Ramirez walked 1 and struck out 2. Nathanael Ventura came on for the 9th, but he only got one out via strikeout and allowed 2 runs, walked 3 and hit two other batters. Jonger Ochoa got the last two outs of the game, striking out 1.

The Orange team scored 5 in the 7th to take the lead... only to see the Brewdians regain control with 3 in the 8th.

Team Orange got a couple of RBI singles from Renaigel Martis and Kelvin Perez in the 2nd inning. Martis got plunked to lead off the 7th.

Sean Mendoza singled to join Martis on the bases and they both moved over a base following a wild pitch. Michael Garcia walked to load the bases for Deury Carrasco, who came through with a 2-run single. Garcia ended up scoring on a wild pitch. An errant pickoff throw allowed Carrasco to move to 3rd and another bad pickoff throw allowed him to score. Jose Alvarez went 3-5 and drove in the final run of the inning with a single.

Christian Mejias allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3 in 5 innings. Fabricio Reina had a rough 2.1 innings, and I think I'll leave it at that. Fredy Medina pitched 1.2 innings, allowing a hit and striking out 2.

Andrew Thome and Jacob Dorris made their PCL debuts on Friday; Thome allowed an unearned run on 2 hits and struck out 1 in the 8th, while Dorris worked around a hit and a walk to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Tony Kemp put Fresno on the board with a solo shot in the 3rd, extending his hitting streak to 15 games. Jon Kemmer kept the line moving with a single. He then advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and scored on a Tyler White single. Teoscar Hernandez whacked a 2-run homer in the 4th and White added a sac fly to his ledger in the 5th. Colin Moran went 3-4 with a double. Kemp (solo HR) and Kemmer (2 R) both finished 2-5.

The Grizzlies wrap up the first half of their season with a doubleheader starting at 5:05 Pacific. Rogelio Armenteros takes on Eric Jokisch in game 1, and Kyle Smith faces Braden Shipley in game 2.

The Hooks got a small measure of revenge on the Naturals by taking the series from them at Whataburger Field after they were swept out of Springdale. They took control of this game with 3 in the 6th inning.

Ramon Laureano doubled to lead off the bottom of the 1st and scored the first run of the game on a J.D. Davis sac fly... all the way from 2B. Davis singled to lead off the 6th and put Corpus in front by scoring on a Jon Singleton double. Jack Mayfield followed by ripping an RBI ground-rule double. He wound up scoring when Arturo Michelena grounded into a force out. Davis doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the 7th. 

Laureano (2B, R), Davis (2B, RBI, 2 R), Mayfield (2B, 3B, RBI, R) and Michelena (RBI) all had 2-hit nights.

Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Brock Dykxhoorn turned in his best outing of the year, allowing an unearned run on 2 hits, walking 1, and striking out 8 in 7 innings. Andrew Walter allowed a run on 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2 in 1.2 innings, and Ryan Thompson got a popout to end the game.

Yoanys Quiala will start the first game of a 3-game set against Arkansas at 7:05. He'll go up against Lindsey Caughel.

Down East 7, Buies Creek 1

BC home runs: Spencer Johnson (6, 9 season; solo in 8th)

Matt Bower fell victim to the longball on Friday night as the Wood Ducks took him deep 3 times.

Bower allowed 7 runs on 7 hits (3 solo homers), walked 1, and struck out 5 in his 4 innings. Sebastian Kessay and Erasmo Pinales picked him up by restoring some order to this game. Kessay allowed 3 hits and struck out 6 in 3 innings, and in his Carolina League debut, Pinales struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th. 

Spencer Johnson spoiled the shutout with a solo shot in the 8th. After hitting just 2 homers in his first two months (33 games) with Buies Creek, Johnson has sent 4 out of the park in the first week of July. He does have 4 triples, though. The blast was Buies Creek's only extra-base hit of the night. 

Jorge Alcala has turned in a couple of solid outings in a row and he'll look to keep the momentum rolling as he starts tonight's game. He'll face Jacob Shortslef at 6:00 Eastern.

The Banditos topped the LumberKings on Friday behind a strong showing on the mound from Abdiel Saldaña and a show of force at the plate from Ronnie Dawson.

Saldaña allowed 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6 over 5 shutout innings. Cionel Perez finished the game, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, walking 2, and striking out 1 over the final 4 innings.

Quad Cities scored a run in each of the first three innings. Carmen Benedetti scored the first run of the game in the 1st when Wander Franco beat a double play attempt. An error was also given on the play. Josh Rojas hit an RBI single in the 2nd, and Ronnie Dawson launched his first homer of the evening in the 3rd. Dawson smacked his second solo homer in the 6th inning, and Troy Sieber hit a 2-run single in the 7th. Dawson reached in all four of his plate appearances, going 3-3 with a walk.

César Rosado makes his first start for the River Bandits tonight. He'll take on Danny Garcia at 6:35.

One night after romping their way to a 13-0 victory, the ValleyCats came out on top in a tighter affair.

Matt Ruppenthal worked around a couple of walks in order to throw a scoreless 1st, striking out 2. Nathan Thompson went 2.2 innings and allowed the Ironbirds' only run on 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. Reggie Johnson got the win after throwing 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 2 along the way. Jesús Balaguer got the save in his TC debut, striking out 1 in a 1-2-3 9th.

Luis Payano whacked a solo homer in the 3rd to open the scoring. Kyle Davis led off the 7th with a double, advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, and scored the go-ahead run on Connor MacDonald's single. Payano's homer and Davis's double were Tri-City's only extra-base hits of the game.

Greeneville 3, Kingsport 1

The Appy Astros edged the K-Mets with a pair in the 9th to break a 1-1 tie.

Cody Bohanek doubled to start the game and scored the first run of the game when Gilberto Celestino ripped a double. Celestino walked to lead off the 9th, but two quick outs made things a little dicey. He scored the go-ahead run on an error following a Colton Shaver infield single. Shaver, who made it to 3rd, ended up scoring on a wild pitch. Bohanek finished 2-4 on the night.

Felipe Tejada allowed an unearned run on 4 hits and struck out 5 in 5.2 innings. Francisco Villegas allowed 2 hits and struck out 3 in 3.1 innings to get the win; he has yet to issue a walk in 14.2 innings between Greeneville and the GCL.

The Palm Beach Stros fell behind 5-0 after the first half-inning and never posed a serious threat in this game.

Chad Donato got 2 outs in the 1st and allowed 3 unearned runs (2 inherited runners charged to him), walked 1, and struck out 1. Jheyson Caraballo and Javier Navas pitched 3 innings apiece; Caraballo allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits (solo homer) and struck out 3, while Navas allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. Brendan Feldmann walked 1 and struck out 1 in 1.1 innings, and Carlos Pimentel worked around a hit to throw a scoreless 9th, striking out 1.

Orlando Marquez doubled to lead off the 3rd and scored the GCLstros' only run on an Alfredo Angarita groundout.

The Blue team dominated the Braves in all facets of the game on Friday.

Four pitchers combined on the shutout. Nivaldo Rodriguez allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7 in 5 innings of work. Angel Matos allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 1 in the 6th. Diosmerky Taveras went 2 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. Alex Blanco struck out 2 in a scoreless 9th; an error allowed a Braves batter to reach against him.

DSL Indians/Brewers 9, DSL Astros Orange 8 in 12 innings

The Brewdians scored a pair to condemn Team Orange to a 7th consecutive defeat.

Gerry Castillo went 3-6 with a 2-run single in the 6th and scored a run. Ramiro Rodriguez finished 2-5 with 2 runs scored and drove in a run with a groundout in the 7th. Deury Carrasco's two hits were doubles.

Elian Rodriguez went 2.2 innings and allowed 4 runs on 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. Cristofer Melendez was the first man out of the Orange team's bullpen and went 2.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on a groundout and a wild pitch, walking 5, and striking out 4. Jose Betances allowed a run on a balk, hit 2 batters, and issued a walk. Betances was called for two balks in his pro debut. Ernesto Jaquez allowed a hit, walked 3, and struck out 1 in 1.1 innings, and Luis De Paula allowed the tying and winning runs in the 12th, both of which were unearned. De Paula went 3.2 innings and also allowed 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2.
